The art of doing... in spite of everything.

- No one really owns anything. We are all temporary here, and so are all the things we covet and preserve. We are all… renters… ultimately. All we do or accomplish will be eventual dust as well. Why does anything matter?
In spite of all of this acknowledgement of the imminent…we just keep going. Why do we do that? Why do we persist - even when we are 100% sure how it will end? The paradox of value lies here - nothing would even mean anything - were it not fleeting. Temporary. Momentary.
Life and our pursuits seem to be something we should do at full steam, whether anyone is watching or not. The things we are most passionate about - possessed by - it should be a tier on the hierarchy of needs.
This is how creative work is for me - and most artists I think. Music… filmmaking… whatever I am doing… Whether anyone notices or appreciates what I create, I just keep going. I have to do it, or I feel like I will disappear.

2:20 love how you do VO over the rothko quote.
3:05 "all we have is a shouting platform for hyperbole that people try to cram stories into". wow.
7:20 love the subtle enthusiasm in your voice, "so here she is"
8:40 "now I can leave some things in the airplane, or in the hangar". yep. I had to find a tiny flight bag after packing so much stuff around.
9:50 gratuitous MR2 shot :)
It's been fun to follow along. Even the location of the hangar on the airport has a very Siskindeque feel to it. I commented on the mechanical stuff but it's the emotional stuff that is so amazing. Thanks.
Thank you! So glad you have also graduated to the tiny flight bag!
There's something really soothing about your videos.
Great story to tell. I like you have been searching for the right plane, in East Tennessee. I look forward to that day I can own, or partially own, a slice of a therapeutic machine.
therapeutic machine indeed! thanks Shawn
Very nice, Brian. Of course you know I concur. Keep doing what continues to move you. Much love and Respect.
Likewise brother!
Great story. Great plane. Happy for you!
Thanks Evan!
Great story telling!
Thanks! I appreciate you appreciating it.
Thought this vid had like 2mil views.❤ very well done
I am so freaking jealous in how well you can craft a story...#dammit. I love how I can watch your videos multiple times and pick up on new things. You are a master at this, thank you for thoughtful content.
Ah man thank you sir. I would not be telling very interesting stories without the great aviator friends around me!
The concept of not actually owning my airplane has struck me from the moment I bought her. It's amazing to me that she's older than me and still so solid. It reminds me that I'm merely a steward, taking care of this machine for the next person. I hope to not screw her up for the next person.
A steward... I like that.
this inspires me tons. thank you
let's shoot some 8mm soon!
"Lowest common denominator clickbait valuing, above all, primal chimpanzee reactions."
I choked so hard that my brain was directly caffeinated as my coffee traveled upward and outward via the nasal cavity.
😂😂😂
careful over there! 🤣
+1 view
I've said it before, YT measures clicks and eyeballs, not brains. Looks like you've found a wonderful plane with some beautiful symmetry, and I'm really happy for you man.
I appreciate that and feel that thank you sir!
What is this video about i cant not get it please explain
It’s abstract work so it’s meant to invoke the listener to come up with their own interpretation. The non abstract side is he went into a part ownership of an aircraft a piper Cherokee 180. The abstract side my version of it is about how life is fleeting. We should take life and proceed to enjoy it however we can. That UA-cam doesn’t like abstract videos that don’t fit into very discrete categories. Being more speculative video I can see why UA-cam hates it. Also I imagine there can be a language barrier if you aren’t a native English speaker.
