As I understand the Mary's Mini, it is for those who need a reset to move forward with weight loss. It is advised to weigh only at beginning and end, if at all. I know of some who have done it long term, but it is meant to be short term. Did you know it takes about 2 weeks for taste buds to reset? What seems bland at first can surprise you once you can taste the unique flavors of real plants.
Yes, I've done that and to my surprise what I used to think tasted good like oreos, cookies, etc, tasted so horrible and toxic after I eliminated junk food from my diet. I can't even finish 1 bite of oreos, I have to spit it out. Any type of junk food, my body immediately hates it and I feel disgusting on only 1 tiny bite! Impressive for sure when your body is cleaning out.
Yes please. Another Mary’s Mini. I’m going to give this routine a go. I love potatoes so I don’t see that being any problem. Thanks for another great video.
I’m always amazed and baffled when I see people using lots of condiments and it doesn’t seem to make them sick.🤷🏻♀️ But great job on the content, friend.🙌🏼💗
Potatoes already have a ton of potassium which helps flush out sodium- so when eating mainly potatoes, it ensured that your body was flushing sodium like crazy, and this was more than likely the cause of your lightheadedness and other issues. If you're well-hydrated and not taking in enough salt, you are going to have electrolyte issues. Your blood pressure could have also dropped too much as well because of this. It definitely was not an issue of not enough fat/protein/whatever macronutrient. Problems with a deficiency in those take much longer to arise. Hope that helps you and anyone else thinking of trying this! :)
This is exactly what I thought. I've done keto in the past (never again; don't @ me), and that is what the keto flu looks like. Solution is some electrolytes. Always bounced me right back.
Have you ever tried microwaving your potatoes first then popping into the Airfryer to crisp up? I always do my spuds that way and sweet potatoes too saves on power.. 😊
@@merryworld4776 I do that microwave trick too. Always cut up and patted dry. Microwave partially cooks them without moistening so they get nicely crispy in the air fryer
I have been overweight for most of my life and even on a wholefood plant based diet I'm still overweight 😢 I know my hunger and fullness signals are a mess. When you said eat until you are full, but not stuffed it finally made sense to me. I finally have words to describe how I need to feel! Thank you so much Jeremy!!
Are u sure u ate only “whole foods?” This is a very critical term. If all u eat is boiled potatoes and steamed vegetables, only dried herbs and spices added it’s impossible to be in the overweight category. As in BMI above 23. No way. The calorie density is way too low. Just do that which is what Mary’s mini is supposed to be. I don’t believe this man did that. It looks too rich. That’s not the way it’s done. The best way is just to eat potatoes only.
I'm sure you know about calorie density but it's an absolute critical piece of knowledge and skill in the kitchen, if you haven't yet cut out oils/fats, severely limited seeds and nuts it's the way to go. ua-cam.com/video/0CdwWliv7Hg/v-deo.html

I did Mary’s mini once for weight loss and I was told half of the plate was your starch and half non starchy veg. If you wanted seconds it would have to be 50% starch 50% veg no matter the amount. Same ratio for any meal and snack. And I def lost weight this way. If you want more weight loss then 25% starch and 75% veg.

I think the amount of sodium in your mustard and salsa and pickles would cause water retention for sure. Also it makes the food taste good so you are not eating just bland boring food. lol
Watching this in November 2024. You looked so sad throughout your original Mary's Mini. I guess your body was fighting back and giving you signals not to lose more weight. If you do a blander version of this challenge in the future, I'd be interested to see your results. You could do a shorter version with the highlights and lessons learned, as long as you do simple meals repeatedly. At any rate, thanks for sharing your observations.
Did you slightly slow down the audio in this? All the speech, in the old and new video, sounds a little weird, like you were a little out of it. Maybe it's me.
So I should have looked at another video before posting this. Apparently it is my computer. Going to reboot. BTW, liked watching this. Yup - the lack of fruits was challenging.
Why did you do Mary's mini when you were so thin? I'm glad you are ok.
It was during covid. I was curious, bored, yadda yadda
potatoes vs pasta are two very different foods. One is a whole food the other is processed.
I try not to go crazy with nutritional yeast, as there are 240 calories in a cup. It is reportedly zero fat, 33% carbs, and 53% protein, so it has benefits. I can eat too much of it, though. I have to be careful with doctoring up the food and making it taste too "good" if I want to lose weight.
I find a sprinkle on your dish goes a long way - a tbsp or two per serving is more than enough for me
Jeremy, how tall are you, if you don't mind me asking?
Around 5 ft 10.5” - are you looking for my BMI? My extra skin from weightloss doesn’t give an accurate picture. I’ve done dexa scans to access health, etc…
I was looking to figure out if you were eating too much nutritional yeast or too much tomato sauce. @@pbwithjeremynot at all not at all you look great
How do you determine if or much of those things?
I love potatoes. But when I attempted A Mary’s Mini after five days the thought of eating another potato meal made me gag and nauseous. So big no for me on this extreme diet. Variety is the best.
I could not give up fruit for 10 days.
That was the worst part.
I wonder if your condiments had salt???Pickles and catchup have lots of it. This may have affected your results.
I think so too
My understanding of the potato diet is that you eat only potatoes. Not even salt.
Here’s the newest guidelines. It allows sauces - www.drmcdougall.com/education/information/marys-mini-mcdougall-diet/
Hello Fr m Sidney Ne
Have you heart of spud fit. The guy went one whole year eating only potatoes with dr. check ups. A PERFECT FOOD
Where is his story to read/see?
Andrew Taylor from Melbourne Australia known as SpudFit
I think the amount of sodium in your mustard and salsa and pickles would cause water retention for sure. Also it makes the food taste good so you are not eating just bland boring food. lol
Yeah - I realized this near the end. Next time I would go plain
So you're not reviewing 30 days Alzheimer's solution cookbook by dr. Dean and ayesga sherzai..
It’s in the works!
Bonjour, malheureusement je ne peux pas mettre de sous titres traduits...😌
Annabelle
Oh no. I’m sorry. Hopefully UA-cam will fix that soon!
Obviously you are not going to be able to eat whole grain pasta because it is 1. Processed and 2. It has flour in it.
You should watch my new version. I'm pretty much done with doing MM
Hunger is the best "sauce".
Show us your work out 🏋️ it would be great 👍🏻
There's another video on the channel with it
Have a look for this gnocchi in the airfryer-recepy:

Can you veganise it? (It sounds+ looks great!)
On the list to try sometime!
This is not the Mary's Mini as I understand it.
It's a few years old and it's changed a lot over time as I understand...
HAHAHA! You are not a plain kind of guy. 😂😂😂😂 What is CHEESE SAUCE?
You do know that peas are a starchy vegetable, don't you?
Yup. This was a few years ago. Thanks for pointing it out for others.
The real Mary's mini, is ONLY potatoes 10 days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO beets, NO carrots etc.........
Your wife makes far too many comments and judgments on your process. I am so grateful that I am not married to a critic. Ugh!
She does it with love - blame the editing :)
Did you slightly slow down the audio in this? All the speech, in the old and new video, sounds a little weird, like you were a little out of it. Maybe it's me.
Nope. Sorry it doesn’t sound right :(
So I should have looked at another video before posting this. Apparently it is my computer. Going to reboot. BTW, liked watching this. Never go into the Starch Solution and wondered what the Mary's mini was all about. I love potatoes, so think I could do this without feeling too terribly deprived, but I also would have problems with really simple recipes as I am a fellow food nerd.
@@sharonknorr1106 alot of the audios are slowed down over youtube. Its really common. To fix it alot of us just go into the settings menu and speed it up.
I think you were eating way over 1600 calories worth of potatoes and nutritional yeast all those days. You also have an obvious booger in your nose 😯
Thanks for your comment! I try to be as accurate as possible with calorie counts, but I appreciate the feedback and will keep an eye on portion sizes in future videos. As for the other thing, yikes! That’s definitely not ideal-thanks for pointing it out, and I’ll make sure to double-check that sort of thing next time! 😅
