i actually appreciate mistakes during live shows, it just demonstrates that they are not doing any kind of crap playback, in Costa Rica a fan asked them to play Orion, and they actually did, they made mistakes cause they didnt practice the song, but it was just special to listen to that song live an just by a fan asking for it.... RESPECT FOR METALLICA

It was a great show, here I am reminiscing one year later
at 1:42 you can hear them going out of sync. and lars kicks in and adds that hi hat to help them get back on rhythm. now that is good band communication

@@furioussherman7265 Well, Kirk did flub the begining quite badly. And being a drummer myself, Lars coming in with the hi hat brought the tempo back far better than it was during the, again, flubbed intro by Kirk.

If you want good rock n' roll drummers, then look at John Bonham, Keith Moon, Neil Peart, Ginger Baker, Dave Grohl, Charlie Watts, Mick Fleetwood, Butch Trucks and Jai Johanson, Stewart Copeland, Ian Paice, and Bill Ward, among others. Lars is nothing compared to them.

That's a bad excuse. I like Kirk, a lot, but distortion doesn't determine which notes you'll play right/on the beat and which notes you won't. Even if Kirk played that part with distortion, it would still be off. Like BRONXX said, Kirk never plays that one right. There's multiple videos of him playing that part wrong.
Maybe he is high or maybe he does it on purpose.
J. Kirk has been dealing with arthritis in both of his wrists and hands, plus he has had numerous problems with his right shoulder. I know all to well what it's like to have arthritis problems with my hands and wrists, I've had osteoarthritis for three years now, and pain meds don't work, plus arthritis doesn't discriminate. I've been a guitarist for 17 years, and I'm finally recording my first album, and tracking is painful as hell for my hands and wrists. It goes all the up your forearm as well, and it tightens everything up and it's very painful, and I'm only 33, Kirk is 20 years older than me, I can only imagine what kind of pain he puts himself through on stage, night after night. He knows how to play every song correctly, but sometimes your body won't let you play it right. I know Kirk is a vegetarian or vegan, but in my own opinion if he wasn't he'd have more muscle tissue around his forearms and that would help him out some, because arthritis affects the nerves and muscle tissue, which is something he lacks.
Kirk gets a free pass. When you're old and playing live, fuck ups are bound to happen.
He's been absolutely spectacular so far in 2018 though. A few months on tour and he's in excellent playing shape now.
His arthritis was flaring during this concert :(

I was about 10 rows back. Had to survive all of the moshing and body surfing / pushing. What an unreal experience, eh? Unbelievable concert!
I watched them play here in the philippines, summer of 1994, that was was so cool and awesome, still with bassist jason newsted, ..fast forward after 23 long years, they sound like the same! Metallica- the BEST!

People complaining about this and that solo never really watched Metallica's concerts. Their shows was always perfect, not the note by note playing itself. That's why they are the best living band on planet. It's like the best world musicians gathered in these youtube comments just to spill their life frustrations. This is metallica, just enjoy them while they are still here.
