    BDT great plane, smooth flying and what a tough choice to make. I'm coming off a E-flight Viper 70mm and I love it with a SMC 3600mAh 6s LiHV, handles great and has really brought be along in EDF. I'm looking to go to the next level and the big brother Viper 90mm is right there and in my price range, but this Avanti looks beautiful. A fellow flying member out at my field has an FMS FUTURA 80mm with a AR637TA receiver installed and it also flies nice.

      Both nice birds and if you enjoy the 70mm you will the 90mm. I flew a Futura V3 recently and its impressive too! Avanti and Futura will run on that 3600. I wouldnt run that small in the Viper 90mm tho...

    Great video. I'm finishing setups on my new Avanti S (red version, 9-blade EDF unit) and will probably maiden it this weekend.
    Your videos are first rate. I just got back into RC after a several-year hiatus, and I've downloaded all of your Spektrum NX transmitter videos because they're so good. Thanks for all of the time and effort you've put into them. It has made the learning curve so much shorter on my NX10.
    Well done!

      Will, welcome back to the hobby! Maiden should be simple.If you use the factory CG and balance neutral it will be slight nose heavy. I found best results at 5-8mm aft of book CG but some run more than that. Let me know how maiden goes and goodluck!
      Thanks for the support and feedback on this video too.

    • @BDTennessee
      @BDTennessee  2 роки тому +1

      All 3 nice birds! Avanti will have the widest flight envelope. SS90mm is floats and flies well too (also good thrust being a 90mm). Futura will be the fastest and more nimble. I personally like the FMS Hawk better than Futura...

    • @RC-Flight

      @@BDTennessee FMS Hawk is that the red one Royal Air Force? Also, What is your thought on the Freewing Stinger 90mm?

    • @BDTennessee
      @BDTennessee  2 роки тому +1

      @@RC-Flight yes thats the one. Stinger 90mm is a nice bird too. Its got more thrust than Avanti, landing light on nose gear, and nose wheel is double wheels. Slightly heavier and does good in the wind. Avanti is more nimble (fly in smaller space,however sting can stretch out with the 1900kv 90mm too)and lighter flying.

    Great review and flying. The Avanti is one of the most enjoyable planes to fly in my fleet. The gear can take a lot of abuse, but I recommend adding an aftermarket 3d printed nose brace to ensure long life.

    Man, I sure wish all you youtube guys would figure out to get reverse thrust on birds like this one and also the A-10. Once you have it on a plane you see how useful it really is, especially on asphalt like you have. It's not an absolute necessity but it really does make the landing on a hard surface great.

    • @BDTennessee
      @BDTennessee  2 роки тому

      Reverse thrust is nice for sure! I have some planes that have it but there factory setup. I normally dont fly in the evening like this so my depth perception was off some. All the jets i have i can get stopped and turn around 3/4 way down. Its short runway too (330ft)

    Awesome plane, and I want one. Curious, at 1:51 the front nose gear doors do not close completely. Is this because the spring is too weak to pull them shut?

    • @BDTennessee
      @BDTennessee  Рік тому +1

      Not sure what caused it to hang that time.During flights no issue. Spring pulls both doors at same time so might been from position handling.

    Great video.. But one question. The throws your running are way under the recommendations in the manual. I have set mine up as per manual but haven't madden her yet, but I was thinking that the manual settings are way over kill. I think now I should really cut mine back to your settings. Just wondering how much expo are you running if you are running it at all . Thanks in advance.

    • @BDTennessee
      @BDTennessee  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks!
      Most Freewing jets are overcontrolling on book rates ,especially for ailerons (even to the point some models are almost uncontrollable). Elevator you can lower throws,if you move the battery about 5mm aft in the jet. Will still be smooth but also have authority.
      No expo used on any of the rates. Rudder is plenty and makes control on takeoff and roll out smooth and easy too but have enough to steer in different situations.

    How much expo do you add?

    • @BDTennessee
      @BDTennessee  2 роки тому

      Zero Expo on all surfaces. If you normally run expo use somewhere between 10-30% ir in the middle at 20%.
