    What higher compiment can be paid than -
    "Professor Hindson commented: "I will be presenting 'And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope' to the composition students at the Conservatorium next semester as an exemplar in structure, mixing timbres, meters, modes, how to approach virtuosity, sound and noise, extended performance and techniques. The students will need to study 2 technical aspects of what Ne Obliviscaris have done in their music, and then use these techniques in their own classical music compositions."
    "It is my pleasure to introduce such high quality music making to our students, alongside other music by composers including Beethoven, Gershwin, Steve Reich and Peter Sculthorpe. Musicians deserve to hear the music of Ne Obliviscaris, and the music of many other metal bands, in order to appreciate the compositional complexity that lies within it, no matter what their musical tastes."
    From a Professor at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music....

      @@TankTheTech I don't see any comment about this, and I really think it's worth mentioning... this song "And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope" was included in a teaching curriculum at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, one of Australia's most prestigious classical Conservatories. The song will undergo a compositional analysis by Professor Matthew Hindson, Chair of Composition at the Conservatorium.

    At first I thought the screaming vocalist looked/sounded really out-of-place in the band, but the combination of sort of prog/fusion mixed with harsh vocals really works.

    • @jjoao32
      @jjoao32 4 роки тому +13

      I am not the biggest fan of harsh vocals but NeO has a way to blend Xenoyr's vocals into their music that you can barely notice it standing out, it just becomes sort of an instrument. They are really clever at this, specially using the contrast of Tim's cleans or the violin. Amazing work by these guys indeed.

    Hello. I would like to request something from Trees of Eternity.
    Unfortunately there are no live performances that I know of, but there is a valid reason why. (There are some live recordings with pre-recorded vocals) It is absolutely imperative that you do at least a little research on the group prior to listening. Knowing the tragic story behind the album is part of what makes it so amazing.
    The songs I recommend are: Sinking Ships (most popular, but acoustic), Gallow's Bird, and Hour of the Nightingale. All the songs on the album are amazing though.
    Thanks.

    Sounds like [Jazz fusion/fusion] to me, which is a very unpopular style that require a high level of musicianship and music theory.

    Matt Klavins is obviously obviously has Latvian blood in him. 1/4, maybe less, maybe 1/2 because of the surname. Then, if I am not mistaken, it would be interesting to learn whether they in Australia have anything we here are calling "preserving of Latvian culture". We have quite a few people here telling that instead of enjoying Western culture we should follow example or Latvians abroad, who can speak Latvian, sing folk songs and dance folk dances. Or at least is willing to learn all this.

    I saw them two years later at the same venue as in the video. They opened for Wintersun, another band you have reacted to. It was a great night.

    Lemme throw you a curveball and suggest an all-instrumental band to react to: Night Verses. You might have heard of the drummer's other band Fever333, but Night Verses is where he (and the other two guys ofc) really show off their INSANE talent and creativity. I can't even really describe their style, other than that it's very atmospheric, sometimes almost dreamlike and pretty intense progressive metal with an eerie twist. Dude they might not be the most requested band on your channel - mostly because they're not insanely popular I guess - but I PROMISE, you'll love it! Their play-thru of Copper Wasp would probably be the best starting point to get into their stuff. You're awesome, keep it up!

    • @TankTheTech
      @TankTheTech  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you for that, man! I'm familiar with Fever, but haven't heard of Night Verses. I'll throw it in the notebook and try to get to it eventually!

      @@TankTheTech you definitely won't regret it! Even if it doesn't make it onto the channel, I hope you'll get the chance to listen to some of their music in whichever way.

    That reminds me of 2 Bands. First Eluveitie (e.g Inis Mona or Rebirth, they have an Wacken live clip too). You should check them out. Thy call themselves a new wave of Folk Metal. They are 9 people on stage with unconventional Instruments for Metal but totally awesome. Would be nice to see your reaction with your roadie background.
    and then Omnium Gatherum (e.g. Frontiers). They are not that well known but an awesome Melodic Death Metal Band.
    On an totally different genre. Do you know Powerwolf? I have to many ideas for you to check out.

    • @TankTheTech
      @TankTheTech  4 роки тому

      I like the Eluveitie I've heard, but haven't heard too much so I could definitely do a video. And Powerwolf has been so recommended lately that I'll definitely be doing that soon!

    • @kai.westerkamp
      @kai.westerkamp 4 роки тому

      That Powerwolf is recommended a lot doesn't surprises me. They had a pretty good spot on Wacken in 2019. Basically every band that has a good spot in Wacken are awesome and worth checking out: Parkway Drive, Amon Amarth, ...

    Yay, you just did another of my favourite bands in short time, thanks Tank!
    Aaaand here I go again ;)
    Try out Shylmagoghnar with Transience!
    ...I know, I'm the only one requesting them (simply because they are not as well known as they should be), but every reactor who did them was full of praise for this amazing project from the Netherlands.
    A bit of background maybe: It's a two man project, one Textwriter/Singer and one Composer/Multiinstrumentalist, who do everything by themselfes and it's f**ing impressive. Melodic, progressive and hard as hell...
    Have a nice day and keep rockin \,,/

    Hey there, Tank. Dude, that drummer is a machine. Total 4-way independent syncopation. Tried some of that shit when I was young (80's) and I can tell ya it's not easy. Love it. Cheers again from Aus. \m/ ;) \m/

    I once was at a concert where I came for Amon Amarth and As I Lay Dying. Unfortunately for them, their opening band was SepticFlesh, which I was completely unfamiliar at that time. To tell the truth Amon Amarth and AILD was great, but what SepticFlesh made that night was the start of my love for them... Wonder how many people were in this crowd who went for the other 2 bands and was blown away by Ne Obliviscaris.

    That’s the first bassist in a long time whose playing immediately took my mind to Cliff Burton... that super melodic, "play it like a classical guitar" sound.
    I wonder what might be slightly different in metal had he lived.

    Ohhhh I've never seen this song live!! Incredible! I'm shocked this was even a song that could be played live, and they did it perfectly wtf! Have you ever listened to Karnivool? Another Australian band, one of my faves - anything off their Sound Awake album is gold. Also there are parts of this song that remind me a lot of another fave of mine, black metal/shoegaze band called Alcest. Check out the video for "Sapphire" off their newest album Spiritual Instinct - the band was created by this French guy, Neige, and in some of the songs (like Sapphire) he sings in this made-up language of his own invention, it's really neat to hear. (For my money though, Kodama is their best album, give "Oiseaux de proie" a listen sometime.) Sorry to write a novel in your comments hahah

    Please check out O Resolution, a perfect song of Wilderun's more than perfect album Veil of Imagination, the letter you get in the mail of your dreams inviting you to uncharted realms. It’s the hidden portal calling out to you as you go about your life rending daily routine. Wilderun have built a monumental, immersive experience that is transcendentally good, cradling the whole of emotional expression in its earthen hands. Their music is elemental in nature, primal in execution, and fantastic in scale. Nearly unmatched in terms of quality and pacing, it’s likely the apex of epic progressive symphonic metal music as it exists today. Hope you give it a try!

    Love NeO. Seen them live 3x including this tour but in Texas. Amazing live sound. If you’re curious, Cygnus has bass play throughs of NeO songs and also his other projects. He a bad ass and too bad he’s no longer in the band but Martino definitely makes up for it.
