  • If your bike is shifting hard or jerking when changing gears you may need to adjust the clutch. To adjust the clutch on a Yamaha ttr 90/110 you will need a high quality Philips screw driver and a 10 mm open end box wrench. The adjustment screw is on the left side of the engine, just above the gear selector. Loosen the 10 mm lock nut and turn the Philip screw clockwise until you feel it come in contact inside. From that point, turn the screw counter clockwise a 1/4 turn and secure by turning the locking nut.
If your clutch continues to slip after adjusting you may need to replace the clutch discs and plates.
Warning: Do use motor oil designed for cars and trucks in your motorcycle or dirt bike.

Would this be in the owners manual/service manual? How would someone know how to do this? Thanks for the video and information, I will definitely try this.

My 3rd gear is a false neutral, think this will help or just replace the gears??

Not sure. A worn clutch slips the most in higher gears. Hopefully you only need to replace the clutch discs. Not fun opening the transmission most don’t get reassembled.

Could going slow under power be a symptom of a clutch slipping?

Jake Breder a slipping clutch is most noticeable when accelerating in a high gear.

My sons TTR50 was doing fine yesterday and today it is reving normal, but just barely wants to accelerate. I don't hear any odd noise from the bottom end like a stripped gear (my yz450 broke a tooth in 2nd before and noise was very noticeable).

If the engine noise is getting louder and you aren’t going anywhere you most likely have burnt discs

What is the “point of contact” the screw just gets tighter and tighter and I don’t want to strip it
