My TTR90 sat for so long the gas went bad and the Carb became gummed up. Here is a quick and easy way to clean the pilot jet and get the bike running again.
I'm sure it's been mentioned but to clean the small holes in the carbs., you can use a torch tip cleaner set. It's very cheap and has all the various small wire cleaners that fit well in a carb.
Just bought a used '06 TTR50 for my kid and it won't idle off choke. I imagine it has this exact same issue, especially after reading several online forums on the issue. This video has taken all of the apprehension away from giving this process a go on my own considering I am not a mechanic either. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this!
Thanks Craig! You just saved my day (and espacially my sons day)!! We bought a second hand TTR 90 yesterday, it ran, but not very well. Late yesterday evening I found your video by coincidence. This morning we cleaned the pilot jet using your video and now the bike runs like new! You rule!!!
My dad and I got my ttr90 running today, on the first try! The problem was that the pilot jet was clogged solid with dirt. I tried cleaning it out about six months ago but i couldn't get the wire through, so today my dad took a Dremel tool and worked all the dirt loose. We cleaned the entire carburetor and my dad fixed the leak from the gas tank with a new gasket made of cork and rubber he made himself! Too bad she's too small, gonna sell her soon once we get some new parts. Best x-mas ever!
Very nice. I'm a bit more of a mechanic, but this is my first TTR90. You're video helped me figure out what I needed to do to get my grandson back in the dirt quickly. Thanks a million for taking the time to post this.
Great video. I've found that anyone that rides carb'd ATV's and dirt bikes should invest in welding tip brushes that can be purchased anywhere welding supplies are sold. Theses come in variable diameters and will fit down nearly any size jet you come across. I also keep a bit of lacquer thinner around to soak my jets in prior to servicing.
THANKS...you've done well! My daughters 90 runs strong, I re-jetted, big difference. I usually let the bike idle till it runs out of gas, TOTALLY forgetting about the carb bowl drain! With crappy gas these days, I find draining the carb bowl before storage works wonders. Do it on all size bikes! Nice CR by the way!
That's very cool. Exactly why I posted this video. If the bike has sat for a really long time I have had to repeat this procedure a couple of times but it always works. Also, the pilot jets only cost about $15 so they are not that expensive if you just want to replace it altogether. Good Luck and glad to hear you are saving some mullah.
Good video, thanks. These little bikes, all makes, have tiny carbs with tiny pilot jets. The tiniest spec plugs em up. I can now pull the bowl, clean the jets and adjust the float in less than 10 min. It helps to put a small fuel filter after the on/off valve too.
Awsome video I actually tore mine apart and cleaned everything and tried to run a small wire through it and it wouldn't go so assumed it was not a hole all the way through. You showed me it does thanks man I'll tear apart and fix now.
I can't say for sure, however, I have a TTR250 that had the same problem. I figured out a way to eaily get the bottom bowl off and clean the pilot jet and it worked for that bike as well. So, I woud guess that cleaning the pilot jet on most bikes would work. but again, I'm not a mechanic so I don't know for sure. Good luck.
Thanks for the the video and for taking your time to help others out,the video really help me cause I really don't know much on dirt bikes but it looks like it's going to work on my 03 TTR 125 cause the parts look alike so heading to my garage to start the jobs, thank again gunnyfam :)
Awesome video! I have a ttr 125 and cleaned the bigger jet unaware of the pilot jet. Hopefully that's why it wont idle. My uncle said I had to change the idle. But maybe I don't. My bike was sitting with gas in it for 4 years and I replaced the battery and had to buy a new petcock. I'm gunna run outside and try the pilot jet now tho!
Eyy buddy thnxx alot i just fixed my bike it was siiting in the garage for a couple of months now i just need to fix my back tire and im ready to ride again. Thank you
Thanks mate..this is good video, i will go and do this now because i need to sell my bike in a day and it runs alright sometimes, but alot of the time if u give it gas it will go up and die
HaHaH.... Yes my 10 year old daughter recorded it for me. She's awesome. The only other tip I have is ride it often and use a gas stabilizer in your tank after you ride. I have always had a very hard time keeping the carb clean. Other than that the bike is a dream.
ok, one problem i ran into, my valve for the gas tank wont let anything out, and ive cleaned it all out and i need to get that valve open to run it of course, any ideas on how? PLS help ASAP!
me and my mom were trying to figure out how to drain the oil on the ttr 90 and instead of draining it out of the screw by the kickstand we opened up one of the two big screws right above it and oil came out but the kickstarter wont kick any help??
dose anyone know where I can buy a carb for my ttr 90 its an 02 and I have been looking for months dose anyone know if so please email me or something thanx 😊 and I'm planning to put my 90 motor on a little circle track go-kart and when I took my carb apart it was really bad looking because it sat for like a year and a half or so but I need a new carb

this is actually a really good way of cleaning that jet. and if you can't un clog it they're only around ten bucks to replace.

God damn that's how the fuel lines go, had the overflow line swap with the fuel line as wondering why it was pouring out the air filter, thx bud lmao
Fantastic video - well spoken and humble. Like it.
Awesome my TTR 125 is starting up good now,did follow the steps on the video and ended up with great results, thanks again gunnyfam :)

It's regular gas it's a 4 stroke
ok, one problem i ran into, my valve for the gas tank wont let anything out, and ive cleaned it all out and i need to get that valve open to run it of course, any ideas on how? PLS help ASAP!
For what it's worth, I found that a piece of fishing line works well to clean out the pilot jet.
Thanks!
This was a good video
what do i do if the gas does not come out
Thanks
me and my mom were trying to figure out how to drain the oil on the ttr 90 and instead of draining it out of the screw by the kickstand we opened up one of the two big screws right above it and oil came out but the kickstarter wont kick any help??
drain the gas, run it till it dies. do that after every season and youll never get it gummed up again.
Shouldn't you empty the reserve also
Mine just pisses gas out that little side hose we think the floats stuck but idk
