Downsizing with a senior pet | Milly health update

- In this video I explain how I considered the needs of my senior cat Milly when I downsized from a 2 bedroom unit to a 1 bedroom apartment. I describe important attributes I looked for when selecting an apartment that would meet both of our needs, such as having a secure balcony, floorboards and enough space for her litter box. I also talk about how I helped to make her transition as smooth as possible, and set up a new covered litter box to suit the space. I hope you enjoy it and find it useful for when you downsize with your own pets.

Love that Milly can be outside and see the world, without any risk to wildlife. We are downsizing (eventually) to an apartment with our two dogs. We have already bought a doggy door insert so they'll be able to access the balcony whenever they want. Milly sounds like an awesome companion. Sorry to hear about her health. I've said goodbye to old Golden Retrievers over the last years so I know how hard to stage is.
Thanks Libby, it's sad to think that she will be leaving me soon. So I try to stay focused in the moment and enjoy this time with her. Doggie doors are the best! ❤️

It looks like you are doing great with Milly's new fluids routine. My sweet boy Mickey also had FKD, so I am very familiar with this process. The fluids can help keep them going for a good long time, but I do know how trying it can be for everyone involved. But you're absolutely right - it's an honor to care for our senior pets and see them through their golden years with as much love and comfort as we can manage. It looks like your new place is perfectly cozy for that!

Your Milly is such a sweet cat. We had a cat diagnosed with kidney disease last year but he had many other health issues and he passed away before we could even start to help him with ckd. You are doing a great job caring for Milly and your new apartment looks so cozy and perfect. Thanks for making this video. Sending love from NJ ♥️

A beautiful video Lilibet. My family and I had a beautiful cat called Millie who was a wonderful companion to me during some difficult years. We lost her before we moved to our current home and decided not to have any more pets as we want to be free to travel in our retirement. I really admire the way you are caring for Milly, and I am sure others appreciate your suggestions and ideas about how to downsize with pets.

Being a pet lover too, I was a bit in tears, watching this video. We had a cat that spent 21 years with us. She also had kidney problems and some other health issues. These moments shared remind me quite much of her being around. Let me wish all the best for Milly and for you too. I think you have a deep, loving and very strong bond between the two of you. What a good kitty mom you are. I have had many cats and dogs in my life and several were special needs. They are so precious and deserve all yu can do to make them happy and comfortable. Three years ago i lost two of my older kitties wihin seven weeks of each other. It was devistating. I still have two younger kitties, nine and eight years old, but they are extremely healthy and have lived with me in the same apartment so there have been no changes and i dont intend to move from here. Hi Maggie, thank you for the lovely feedback. Sadly Milly passed away last month. She declined quite suddenly. And I am missing her terribly. As you've been through your own losses, I know you understand what I'm going through. I'm pleased to hear that your younger kitties are doing well ❤
I can imagine how emotionally taxing the changes have been even if you know they are coming as she ages. Starting the treatments must’ve been hard to adapt to but your sis is such a star to support you. Love to you both. ❤

Oh this was so difficult to watch 😢. My girl is 10, she’s my best friend, my soulmate. This year I’m moving back home to Europe and I’m so stressed out about her, how is she going to deal with two long flights. So much planning to do
