I work at a TV station, so I had the opportunity to create this. Did it for years on my own time. just wanted to create a mainstream resource that was fun but informative. That's the key- work hard and do it your own way. It will take time, I've done it for 8 years, and it's now just taking off. Best of luck!

You are correct. I somehow missed that when going through the press material. It says that it's coming out this summer. Guess summer is early this year...

I wanted to ask you a question though how did you become a automobile test driver/reviewer? im still a student in completely different field from auto industry but watching what you do inspires me to go in this field of occupation as well hope you can read this long post and when you do reply for me as well :) thanks for your time and thanks for the show!
Good observation at 2:12 regarding the modest bolstering in the seats for being a performance model, but remember you mentioned that this car is towards the "coddling" of the driver which "bolstering" seats would not do. A Lexus-like trait.
Another excellent car review Tom, thanks. I agree with your comment that Genesis will be compared with the 300 by shoppers. I personally like the Chrysler better, although I don't like the latest redesign of the 300 as much as the original.
Is it 2 Genesises or Genesi? LOL!! Great review as always Tom! I never thought I'd hear myself say this but Hyundai has built a decent luxury car. I completely agree that a panoramic roof should be there....even if it's just an option.

Very nice vehicle. I hope to get one if I can only hurry and finish paying off my '77 Pinto first. Had to take many title loans, got one more payment to go and it's mine !
Tom, I think the Genesis R-Spec doesn't directly compete with the BMW 5 Series with the V8 or Cadillac CTS-V. To me, the direct competition, Chrysler 300 SRT8.
I don't think 2009 was the year people started accepting hyundais.....I'm thinking it's going to be 2025 when people see Hyundai as a good brand. I don't hate the equus, genesis and azera, but hyundais make me feel like I'm cheap. Good video
I think its better than a 300C but better than the BMW M and Cadillac V? It's not a bad car but not so much. I also don't like how its missing a badge up front. Looks like the badge was taken off like some people do.
In terms of reliability, aChrysler 300 and this car are not even on the same planet. These go toe-to-toe with the other asian offerings legendary for being trouble-free cars ... the names like Lexus, the Infinity, Acura, of course, but the rank and file Toyota, Nissan, Honda, products as well. The 300 ... well, .... it’s a Chrysler... That company and its cars have their history and reputation as well ... He kind of skipped over that part.

I do occasionally if it's particularly good or bad. With most modern cars it's not an issue anymore, they generally score very well across the board.
Hi Tom. The 5.0L isn't exclusive to the just R-Spec anymore. They also have a 5.0L non-R-spec model.

It's my opinion that the car is geared toward coddling rather than all out sport. Part of my opinion is formed because the seats lack bolstering.

Save your money though, new completely redesigned model is coming next year
Looked like you were rolling coal there at the beginning upon acceleration.
I've read the early 2012's had a ring problem and some suffered from excessive oil consumption, which was corrected in the later 12's.
