The fact that they take themselves seriously as dramas is the reason they're so laughable. Also their core values are quite disturbing considering their main target are teenagers and young adults. But I guess the novels are to blame for that.

His performance in REMEMBER ME is heart-wrenching. SO believable in his strained relationship with his father (Pierce Brosnan), his love for his little sister, missing his deceased brother, and opening his heart to loving his new girlfriend. A touching and masterful movie, anchored by a brilliant lead performance by Robert Pattinson.
I saw Remember Me when I was deep in my Robert Pattinson fangirl phase, and the ending tore me up emotionally. I remember 9/11, and when they showed that date on the blackboard and him at the window in one of the Twin Towers, I knew it was curtains for his character and I just immediately started bawling. I was literally on the floor in my bedroom sobbing my heart out as if I'd just been told one of my family members had been lost in a car accident or something.
And the music that plays over that sequence rips my heart in two. 100% agree. Cedric’s death was kind of whatever, but they way that scene was done made it very emotional for me

Twilight was necessary, it made his name known globally and it pushed him to improve to show everyone he isnt just a pretty boy that shines, also pushed him to play different roles or characters to show his range.
I agree that the Twilight series was a blessing in disguise, but for another reason. It gave him the financial freedom to pursue whatever project he wanted, without ever worrying about the pay. Very few people are that fortunate, and he made the most of that opportunity.
I still like that first twilight movie. It was silly and had terrible effects but it was fun and sincere and had a great soundtrack. Just way better than any of the sequels that were kind of trash but had better production values. But Batman is his role for me. I was a little gobsmacked when I heard him linked to it then I saw that first trailer with a Nirvana track sat behind it and spine-tingling is the only word I had. The film itself trailed off a little at times but overall I loved it.
@@ytuser_3122 Compared to a lot of young adult fiction, Twilight actually wasn't bad. Because once actors do major roles, unfortunately they’re known for it forever even if they have other spectacular stuff. And you have to remember Twilight was based on a popular book series too. Look at the Spider-Man actors, they have many great roles yet people only choose to see them as Spider-Man and it’s especially worse for Tom since he’s the current one but Cherry shows he’s no goody two shoes and hopefully Uncharted does more justice. But it will be interesting to see how Rob’s career after Batman is handled and hopefully people explore his other movies too.

Yea because he has the freedom of choice now, before twilight he was getting 0 roles and was considering giving up and trying music. The only reason he did twilight was because it was a role that paid money and that he can put on his resume. He had no other options at the time.
@Voyager you're right about the arrogance. i had a friend once who's brother saw him in the same hotel he was staying at walking across the canteen and he walked up to him and asked if he could have an autograph or a photo with him and he said listen i'm kind of busy right now and tired of being hounded. then he strutted off. and ever since i heard that story i viewed him very differently. but then again this was at the peak of twilight when this was going on so he was probably just young and too big for his boots

To start a career in such successful and impactful role, then deliver stunning performances in indie films, and then return to headline one of the most famous and criticized roles over the past 60 years, he's truly amazing to be the person he is today.
There was a such a stigma against him for Twilight, people used to think he was a phoney actor. Its great to see he didn't hold resentment towards that, seems like he respects what those movies did for his career
I mean if it wasn't for twilight he probably wouldn't have an acting career. He was unemployed for like 3 years after harry potter, going to auditions and getting nothing. He had no money and like he said, he was sleeping on people's couches. He was gonna do music instead and then that role came up and he jumps at it. All his little stories made me laugh out loud lol As someone who LOVED twilight, I'm so happy he's getting the recognition he deserves. Twilight was cringy but it was also revolutionary cuz it allowed all these other books and series to become movies and started this whole trend. It changed these actors lives overnight and im glad Kristen, Rob and Anna took advantage of it.
I find it hilarious that what the studios where afraid of (his performance as Edward being too emo and intense) is exactly what makes his portrayal of Edward so enjoyable (and funny), thank god he decided to play him as a broody serial killer!

Not to mention twilight was a mega-success and it was partially bc of him. He did his job and self-evidently did it well. People who insist twilight and Pattinson are terrible are not the people who the series was made for, and they’re often people who just like to hate on anything that young girls are into because they’re perpetually in middle school.
Yeah that Twilight intro was tough to get over. Im not a fan I'll admit, but those were terrible movies. There was potential there too is what's so interesting about it. But take the baseball game scene for example, maybe it was memorable in the book, Idk, but it was soooo laughably bad in the movie lol. They could've just left it out the script smh. It served the story in no way other than to introduce the bad guys, and that could have been done so much easier. 💩👎👎
Robert Pattinson's role as Connie in Good Times totally flipped my perspective of him and since then he's created one of the most exciting film careers of recent date. Multiple genres, wildly different roles, brave and small personal stories. A true artist, made to seem lifeless through the Twilight series shoddy production, spending the next decade proving everybody wrong. Including me. I love that and respect him as an artist.
He’s so brilliant in Good Time. He embodied Connie so well, he felt real. Like, legitimately, I’ve known people like Connie in my life, and he _nailed it._
Robert Pattinson is where you see the clear difference between actors who act for a job and actors who act due to passion and artistry. (Not that there is anything wrong with doing it for a job, both are valuable!)

I literally fought to the death in comment sections when everyone doubted him as the new Batman. I was putting in OT and recommending all his films and these people who were total strangers would reach back out to me and tell me how they enjoyed his films. Forever proud of Rob!!!
I've never understood all the criticism regarding him. Every single movie I've seen him in, he's been amazing. And all the characters not only act but look very different. He's great. And he looks good too. So, get over it. 😂
You know, as a kid, I didn’t like Robert Pattinson. But as I got older, and was exposed to more of his films, I have nothing but absolute respect for him as an actor. He’s one of the very true actors left.

The thing about rob as an actor is that he can definitely play batman or he could've made an incredible Joker . His range is rather extraordinary. I'd love to see him do something with Joaqin , Gyllenhaal and or Tom Hardy at some point in his career .
I would not have thought about it UNTIL you said joker and now i can totally see it...not many actors can be easily seen as BOTH villain and hero in the same story but rob has that quality
IF they ever remake American Psycho, he would be a really great pick. He has a very very unique quality like Christian Bale. (Not just because they both played Batman though) Edit: guys I’m not saying anyone is remaking the movie it’s just hypothetical
People who were critiquing him for the Batman, just have a look at the beginning scene where he's looking at the boy and "something in the way" starts playing, that scene is enough to tell how much of an amazing actor he is, and how perfectly he has captured the whole theme.
Does the scene hit you the same way if “something in the way” doesn’t kick in? I’m going to watch it again with the volume down but I think it’s one of the million instances in cinema where the score, soundtrack can make or break a scene becoming as significant as an actual flesh and blood character Not disagreeing with you necessarily but I’m really into soundtracks.
The reason he laughed at the beginning is he's so humble that it felt weird for him to even say the phrase, "my most iconic roles," to actually speak those words out loud.
He really is a phenomenally diverse actor that I don't think gets the praise he deserves a lot of the time. Also, I have always loved listening to his music that I've been able to find. His voice is so raw and emotional.
I never thought it would happen remembering all that mighty praise for Joker 3 years ago. Plus I didn't even know Pattinson was as hot in a unique way, even hotter.
So sad they didn’t mention “Remember Me” ! One of my all time favorites. I love seeing how passionate he is with every role he had the chance of playing. Even twilight since it’s funny to him now! Rob has such a great personality. I will forever love him and what he does.
As a fan of the Twilight series when I was younger, I am very happy to see Robert and Kristen take on iconic roles nowadays! They're excellent actors and deserve so much more recognition.
I love twilight, its ridiculous at points and made me laugh throughout. But it nailed the small town feeling and the teenagers interactions, like the vibe is just perfect, i love rewatching it. couldn’t say the same about the sequels though
I really appreciate and respect how he can have a sense of humour about Twilight looking back on it, but he seriously doesn't have to defend himself about it. I don't think we would've ever gotten The Rover or Good Time or The Lighthouse or any of these tremendous performances if he never took the plunge with Twilight and developed the recognition to get those indie films the audience they deserved! He's a PHENOMENAL actor. Full stop.
Rob just wanting to take on weird roles, getting them, but also being surprised he still gets them is so wild. He’s an amazing actor and so humble, I feel like despite what he said he’s one of the few who HAVEN’T sold their souls in Hollywood

I freaking LOVE that jumping out of trees was HIS IDEA both times lmao!!! That is so iconic! And the fact that he pushed for them to handle Twilight dramatically with emo vibes was a great call, he was absolutely right. They may be cheesy but what makes the Twilight films/books successful and rewatchable/rereadable is the fact that they take themselves seriously as dramas.
Since when are they rewatchable
@@boarderking133 my sister thinks they are lol
The fact that they take themselves seriously as dramas is the reason they're so laughable. Also their core values are quite disturbing considering their main target are teenagers and young adults. But I guess the novels are to blame for that.

@@fferd1680 yeah I was gonna say twilight is at its best when it’s a self-aware pure oestrogen indulgence mess. That’s what the books were.
Excellent movie, never expected that ending

I saw Remember Me when I was deep in my Robert Pattinson fangirl phase, and the ending tore me up emotionally. I remember 9/11, and when they showed that date on the blackboard and him at the window in one of the Twin Towers, I knew it was curtains for his character and I just immediately started bawling. I was literally on the floor in my bedroom sobbing my heart out as if I'd just been told one of my family members had been lost in a car accident or something.
Cedrick’s dad’s reaction to his death was the most impactful moment in the Harry Potter series. When he cried out “MY BOY,” I broke a little.

Exactly my point
Right
He’s a nocturnal animal.

Honestly, it doesn't hit that way without the soundtrack and yes ofc it plays a major role sooooo@@nikkinewbie6014
The reason he laughed at the beginning is he's so humble that it felt weird for him to even say the phrase, "my most iconic roles," to actually speak those words out loud.
Maybe because he’s admitted he doesn’t like twilight and he knows it’s coming? Hahaha 🤣
@@M.A.C.01 haha twilight jokes, not at all getting old

Why are you explaining something that is clearly obvious to everyone who watched it? Thanks Captain Obvious.. so glad you were here to explain.
Finally, and actor who gets how stupid GQ's use of this word is most of the time!
He really is a phenomenally diverse actor that I don't think gets the praise he deserves a lot of the time. Also, I have always loved listening to his music that I've been able to find. His voice is so raw and emotional.
Mmmm
Agreed!!
I freaking love Pattinson I love how humble and awkward he is, he nailed Batman SO looking forward to his trilogy
Joaquin Phoenix’s joker and Robert Pattinson’s Batman compliment each other so well. We need a sequel with both of them in it.
I never thought it would happen remembering all that mighty praise for Joker 3 years ago. Plus I didn't even know Pattinson was as hot in a unique way, even hotter.
I don't think this Batman filled the expectations. But Joker was something else
So sad they didn’t mention “Remember Me” ! One of my all time favorites.
I love seeing how passionate he is with every role he had the chance of playing. Even twilight since it’s funny to him now! Rob has such a great personality. I will forever love him and what he does.
I said the same thing! Remember me is one of my favorites
I came here for this.
I use to always see that trailer play before one of the movies I had but it felt to sad to watch
Yes! I was thinking the same thing.
Absolutely one of my fave movies ever. So sad it wasn’t mentioned
As a fan of the Twilight series when I was younger, I am very happy to see Robert and Kristen take on iconic roles nowadays! They're excellent actors and deserve so much more recognition.
Love how honest this is. Doesn’t feel like he’s trying to be liked and I love it!
I love twilight, its ridiculous at points and made me laugh throughout. But it nailed the small town feeling and the teenagers interactions, like the vibe is just perfect, i love rewatching it. couldn’t say the same about the sequels though
Yeah I wish they kept the director for the rest
I really appreciate and respect how he can have a sense of humour about Twilight looking back on it, but he seriously doesn't have to defend himself about it. I don't think we would've ever gotten The Rover or Good Time or The Lighthouse or any of these tremendous performances if he never took the plunge with Twilight and developed the recognition to get those indie films the audience they deserved! He's a PHENOMENAL actor. Full stop.
Exactly. He seems to get it. The male oriented batman fandom seems like they have a hard time digesting it

I truly did not know he is so talkative! His roles in HP and Twilight would have suggested otherwise
No way it's like he was... acting? And this is an interview where he had to... speak?
please watch literally any of his other films
@@gloverelaxis I will in March and cannot wait!
_"why doesn't he just appear by jumping down of a tree?"_
I see now why they cast him as Batman. Good choice
I was laughing so hard at this part I love that it was his idea 😭
What I find amazing is that he's a ninja in the movies he's in.
A lot of times I didn't even realize that it was him, he just becomes the character.
The way that he doesn’t take himself seriously Is iconic
I agree, he embraces his weirdness and it makes him truly endearing. He's adorable.
He's so funny I love him
Rob just wanting to take on weird roles, getting them, but also being surprised he still gets them is so wild. He’s an amazing actor and so humble, I feel like despite what he said he’s one of the few who HAVEN’T sold their souls in Hollywood
I don’t know what it is, but watching Robert Pattinson in interviews is often like watching that one cringey friend make a fool of themselves poorly explaining their thought process to the teacher. And I’m here for it.
THIS 😂😂
That’s that INFP life!!
What about this interview is cringey at all? You’re literally brain dead if you find somebody going through their creative process is cringe 💀
@@brioche496 Lol, sorry you found my comment personally offensive. Didn't mean it to come across as me bashing him, I was only comparing his demeanor to what I thought to be universal friend archetypes. But, if you think I'm being insensitive through a comment about relatable discomfort (i.e. 'cringe') being entertaining, you probably shouldn't be calling people "brain dead". Hypocrisy isn't an attractive quality. Hope you have a good day! Love your name, btw!
Definitely, imagine telling your manager, "Oh, yeah I'm still on Valium. Okay, so stop that alright."
I have now seen 10 Robert Pattinson films. What an actor and performer.
It's so funny that Pattinson and Radcliffe have gone completely bonkers with their film roles after doing Harry Potter
I've only ever seen Radcliffe in NYSM 2 and the HP films
Pattinson not Radcliffe
