He’s a real one for mentioning how influential Chris Columbus was in Harry Potters series success . Many amazing directors after Chris but truly no one captured the element of Hogwarts quite like he did . It wasn’t just the acting or the story - his version of Hogwarts still stands as one of the best fictional places of all time
@@yassin.o.a8907 Alphonso was the best director technically speaking but Chris Columbus helped with the foundation and he's really good at the kid side of things. The darker stuff asks for more craft. I liked Yates approach too and like that it became more consistent with him being there until the end.
He is part of a very exclusive club of actors who get roles offered to them. As he doesn't need money he can chose his parts for the love of acting, which makes each of his portrayals a piece of art. I love that about him. Also he is a super down to earth sympathetic person.
It is a really smart move actually, with him being an actor that played a role that many millions of people regard as precious, you dont want to throw yourself into blockbuster movies which could besmirch the perception of that character. By sticking to obscure projects, the image of the "Boy Who Lived" will remain intact, and timeless.
The Woman in Black was what made me realize he’s not just Harry Potter and is one of my favorite horror movies. Absolutely bone chilling and Daniel completely crushed it!
Swiss Army Man is his favourite role and it’s my favourite role off his too. My favourite film possibly. I don’t even think of harry potter when o think of radcliffe. He has done so many diverse roles.
Yeah I don’t know why they didn’t include that one. I’m guessing because it wasn’t a big American film. But it was the first one he did after Harry Potter, and I’ve always seen it as one of his most iconic roles.
The lady who played Umbridge might have had the best performance in the series (other than Rickman). She brought a visceral hate out of me. Brilliant stuff.
I remember ages ago he said he wanted to go "weird" after HP, and fair play to him. The films he selects to act in are unconventional and interesting, and he's definitely established himself as an actor, rather than just being Harry Potter
I love that Dan gives Chris Columbus props. Makes so much sense with how much I love all his movies. And there is a certain magic he captured with those first two movies. Everything felt so practical.
The way he skirts credit to himself, and instead brags up everybody around him is so telling of his character. It's absolutely no surprise that he has remained a beloved celebrity figure, he's extremely humble without being weepy and you can just tell he loves what he does. That translates to the screen every single time. ❤
The real value of Radcliffe taking on different roles and weird scripts is that studios take chances on these cool new ideas simply due to his name being attached. He's given us so much excellent art simply by existing and continuing on his own road rather than what is expected or typecast for him.
wouldn't be surprised if that's part of his reason for choosing the projects he chooses. He's a theatre/arts boy after all, he was first noticed for Potter while watching a play.
Can you recommend some films or shows that you enjoy his that are cool and weird? I really love guns akimbo it’s my guilty pleasure and I’m trying to find that one about the older doctor and the younger doctor that was really good

Glad for all his success....which more good people like him were around the entertainment industry, but unfortunately that industry pulls mostly primadonnas and narcissists to the surface.

The thing about Daniel Radcliffe is, no matter the situation you can see yourself talking to him at total ease. Like he seems to know the importance of the character he's most famous for playing and yet he gives the impression that although he's been in these blockbusters, he could sit at the side of the pavement and talk to you on your level. And I respect that about him so so much.
He will always be a major part of my childhood. Read all the Harry Potter books about 15 times, and watched the movies multiple times as well. It's great to see he is such a good guy as well.
I'm a tad bummed woman in black didn't make the list. That is one of my favorite horror films and really the first film I got to see Daniel in after Harry Potter and it's just fantastic and scary and I feel it gets overlooked often.
Ahh that must have been the movie he was talking about when he said "you won't ask me about it anyway" which is too bad because I remember seeing it in theaters and enjoying it
Acting in Drama Horrors must be so hard, and he nailed it. I actually wondered why his character didnt wear glasses, until it clicked for me "thats harry potter!" (I avoided, and still have not seen, the HP series). Im a horror buff, and this is in my top 5. I was sad it wasnt here. 😔

My favorite part of these GQ interviews is seeing the actors who gush about other people and the crew and fellow actors the whole time. It's always so lovely and unexpected. Radcliffe is no exception!
Dude seems so nice and chill. Very happy to see him still pursuing his passions and not getting burned out by the circus of HP when he was younger, I'm sure that was hectic. Looks like he's gonna be awesome as fake-biopic Weird Al
Weird Al is the biopic I never realized I needed and now I'm so stoked. One of my fondest childhood memories is riding with my brother, cousins and uncle in his Jeep Wrangler and scream-singing along with the Bad Hair Day album at full volume throughout the summer of '96. Much like Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana, I never would have imagined Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al but I know he's going to absolutely crush it.
The reboot never ever replace the original casts.. And I almost watched every Daniel movies, he's actually nailed every of it, out of his strong character as Harry.. And one of my favourite is What If.
this dude is always so humble in his interviews. they ask him to break down HIS roles and he spends his time talking about how much he looked up to the other actors.
Watched most of his movies since HP ended and he's been so great in every role, he has real versatility and I admire how he consistently picks weird and interesting roles instead of going the stupid A list romcoms route. All three of the main cast kids have gone on to do really cool and interesting things.

I think the reason I love Dan is because he has done so many rolls and each one feels so authentic like he can play the good guy and the villain and both feel so real
First Paul Dano and now Daniel Radcliffe to talk about Swiss Army Man?! I'm so pleased - I love that film so much and the two of them are phenomenal :)

Love him in Horns and Guns Akimbo. The fact that he is up for those mvies to star in it makes me think that he is a pretty funny person with alot of humor and just doesnt force himself into the next big thing you can watch in cinema.
I can somehow feel his love for the art of acting. One could easily imagine that a big name like his would only let himself involved in big titles or franchises too, but he chose to navigate his own way to do roles that some may even consider unattractive, because he is there for the art. He wants to grow as an actor, and that’s awesome.
I have watched a lot of movies, and I think I can say that the Harry Potter films are truly so special. They struck gold, as if it were meant to be. Every actor agreeing to come back film after film, watching the actors literally grow up through the films and watch them as they get more comfortable with their acting. And the story, the music, the cinematography, everything was so well done. I read the books and I know there were things that were left out, especially the last few books, but the movies are still amazing to me. I watch them every year. They never get old.

For arguably being the most recognizable actor in the world, he seems exceptionally grounded and "normal". He's a superstar but he also seems like a lad you could have a pint with.

@@Joeysaladslover it’s not that serious no need to be so rude
He has a good answer related to this about his feelings on "being famous" in one of the auto-complete interviews
I think it helps that the environment that he grew up in making those films kept him grounded. He clearly had good parents, that was important. But he also had many adult actors and good directors around him to really give him advice and keep an eye on him. The environment that was built around those kids on HP certainly helped him to have good skills needed to handle many of the issues that would come up.
I like to think that Radcliffe made his money in Harry Potter and now simply does roles that really interest him or he thinks will be good fun. Bless him for it. He's a delight to watch.
Honestly with all the merch that we (the fans) are still buying, still including the books and movies, all the actors have money for years to come. The franchise is most of our childhood and as Robbie Coltrane once said “generations to come will still be watching it”. He said it in the reunion special.
