- Spring Fever is on the rise. When winter turns to spring and spring turns into winter, Living in a secluded off grid cabin can certainly have its challenges. We were down to bare ground and starting to mulch and prep the garden but mother nature has other plans for us when old man winter's not ready to quit.

Got 20” of snow Thursday into Friday here in Adirondack park. Power outages! Wild, & we don’t even live off grid! Well, I guess we do when Mother Nature says so. Gardening is good for your soul. Enjoy
I best shut up about boat building here for us with endless days of rain - short 2 day reprieve and more days of rain; still cold too it is April, right? Supposedly Germany is HOT (more warming fear mongering) All evens out in the end!
I also live in the Adirondacks ( didn't lose electric) at least this last snow fall was only 3" and basically gone in two days.

Tennessee is a great state, I lived there for 20yrs. I so miss it but 15yrs ago there wasn't much work in my field, so I moved for work. Stormy seasons is about the worst it gets. The people are great along with the food! Good southern cooking! No State tax and prices are better. Lots of things to do there for free! I hope y'all get to go and find out for yourselves! So glad Lori is back after her surgery!!! I had to chuckle at Tildie digging in the moose track! lol Reminded me of Frankie so much. He'd sure get excited with his digging! Good memories of him!!! I was looking at my little bell on here to see who all did vids and when I saw yours it brought a huge smile across my face. Love your vids and they ARE my all time favorite!
I have things planted in the ground here but again we're in the deep south here. The temps have dropped into the 40's here and there at night but it's been ok with the plants so far. I've been working on my greenhouse as I feel up to it. Getting a little closer to having it done and I am excited. I have those huge mineral buckets in it right now filled with about 3 kinds of tomatoes and basil and then one is filled with cucumber seedlings.
I envy your early gardening and this snow makes me envy it even more :-x
We have had 80s ,dang near 90 degrees !
Those high 80s are as welcome as 10 inches of snow .
It has settled into the Goldie Locke sweet spot 60-70
So we have time to enjoy the all the spring flowers .
And the sun is warm on the body and soul .
Winter fades quickly ,you and Laurie will be
counting cucumbers in no time .
Glad your both getting back in the saddle after your to do list
Kept you home this year .
The snow is beautiful and one last look before planting season !

Very glad things went well for Lori with her surgery and that life is once again good and normal for both of you. Thanks for the video with all that snow. Lovely to look at but I didn’t have to be cold and unable to go out while enjoying it. I do not drive in snow, it terrifies me. Now that my husband has passed, if it snows here in the future I definitely won’t be going out til it’s gone. We really don’t have much snow anymore in the part of NC where I live. I don’t think we had anything more than getting to see a few flakes fall with no accumulation this year. For that I’m really grateful because if we’d had snow it would have been during the time period when I was driving my husband back and forth to the hospital or the doctors.

My favorite spots for as close to wilderness camping were in Western Maryland near the Cumberland Gap. Beautiful country back in the 70's & early 80's! Hello J.C. and Lori! 1st of all, glad to heat that Lori is doing well and healing! Yep, "False Spring" will make you ready to get "growing" on things, then Old Man winter gets a 2nd wind.....(sigh). I know that the "Going South" thing hits you once again, but, I think you would miss the Northwoods quite a bit.....especially all that you have established! For me, a warm, crackling fire in the hearth still trumps a cold, biting snowstorm outside.....Spring will come!
Having said that, however, traveling and discovering new places has tons of rewards! (Just be sure to include all of us on the journey!) Well, I better let you get back to your chores....take care and talk with you again! All the Best, and God Bless ! ~Lou
They both have their charm. Staying here and enjoying winter through the holidays and then head to bare ground after that would be delightful. Northern Tennessee is still cold enough for crackling fires and KQ meals but there's bare ground on the hiking trails. Yessah :-)

It looks like you got a bit more icing up that way. We got clobbered (about 20 inches of snow this last storm). I kept thinking of the icebox there, that you built. That would be handy to have. This last storm with no power for three days, had us using a cooler outside in the snow. Worked like a charm but your homemade icebox would have been nice 😊 Not complaining mind you, just observations. I’m so glad that Lori is doing better! Thank you for the update. It is nice to hear Lori's I guess hand or wrist surgery went well. Last Friday I went to a checkup and x-rays for hip replacement surgery from January and got cleared to go bike riding and join a gym, and other activities, which is good.
Good news. Glad things have turned around for you. Lori's wrist healed up perfectly and she's back back to normal for a long time now. This recent surgery was for something else but she's all healed from that too.
@@thebossoftheswamp There was a ton of things I had to do to get cleared for right hip replacement surgery and the 1st operation on halloween of 2023 didn't go well. The plastic socket housing was defective and busted so a 2nd surgery was needed. I hope you guys go on a road trip, it would be an interesting fun journey.

On the other hand, snow storms with ever-higher piles of snow and then again dew and mud and gossip. Sometimes you just get fed up. I took a road trip last Summer from Montana to New Hampshire and drove through WV, TN and KY for the first time. I loved all three but WV was hard to find a flat spot but the mountains are beautiful. KY and TN were the greenest places I have ever seen. They were gorgeous plus land out there is ridiculously inexpensive compared to where I am here in MT. I could own 60-100 acres with a house for the same price I would have to pay for my home today and I only live in a 2 bed 1 bath 1100 sq ft house on 1/3 acre. It is so tempting but my heart is really attached to Montana. I would gladly move to one of those locations otherwise.
No tornadoes in Montana. I would never leave wild and beautiful Montana as well. Yes, it's gorgeous in other areas, but there is nothing like Montana.
@@semicountryliving3095 I agree but as far as tornadoes go, we do get them from time to time. Earthquakes are more to worry about though. We are due. 😕

Michigan kinda had the same problem with snow. I was working outside raking the lawn & then mowed. But nature had decided to give us more snow. I think it was supposed to be 4-7 " which did happen but I have an asphalt driveway so the snow was melting as fast as it was coming down. We ended up with 3". The weather was quite cold for the snow to stay longer than I would have liked. As of yesterday 4-5-2024 Spring has arrived for sure. high's in the 50's nights not as cold, low 40's. We still can't plant until May 20th. And the SUN has been shining. Thanks for the video.

If it were me in your shoes, I wouldn't sell any of your places - just yet. 😂 I'd say if you haven't made it back in a year or two, then put it on the table if your not homesick over the place. I got a feeling that coming up here the more remote you are the better off you will be. We moved from a big suburb of DC to a small town in the valley and honestly I have my sights on WV. Build us a little off grid place 🙏

@janied8831 I'm 75. I use the Slippery Elm even if my throat is dry or if I have nasal drip. I gave some to my 3 yr old grandson who wouldn't stop coughing. Of course only grandma makes everything better. ♥
