    I agree, Boss. The amount of "clickbait" on youtube is disturbing. I have unsubscribed from a couple of channels that are always complaining about how tough their life is, or that over dramatize everything. And I just skip the ones who use their wife or girlfriend's body to get views. That's so low-life. I love your videos! You and Lori and the pups are the real deal. Thanks for all you do!

    I gave up mainstream TV due in large part of “reality” TV. Those types of shows glorify the destruction of marriages, focus of total family discord and encourage negative child rearing. All for our entertainment and the “success” of a show. NO THANKS......I enjoy watching your channel that proves you don’t need all the crap that modern life throws at us. Our path is that...It’s ours and we can make it what we want. Thank you for choices to live your life as you see fit.

    The Bossman is the OG of off-grid youtube homesteading. If it was another creator the title of the video would have been 'Man Almost Starves To Death on Mountain After Catastrophic Vehicle Failure.' The other amazing thing about the Bossman is that he is an incredible craftsman and builder, as compared to the slap-jobs done by unskilled youtubers, this man is a Picasso.

      @songbird7777777 3 роки тому +3

      Yup! Seen it all for many years! Years ago the homesteaders and preppers were great! None of this garbage today! But, somewhere along the line things changed and how sad and disgusting! I deleted tons of channels over the years! The older channels were actually there to teach and share not to rob the people!!

      @@songbird7777777 Agreed. It has devolved quite rapidly. It used to be real woodsman and preppers, like the BossMan and a few others. Guys who had been doing it longer than most of us and who we could all learn a thing or two from. Now it is thumb nailing your girlfriend's T and A to sell your Yurt videos. And watching them build is painful, they don't know the first thing about construction or how to run a saw or anything, yet they are 'teaching' everyone. Oh Lordy. Well, at least there's OG Boss still!

The dog videos, the bow hunting videos and field dressing and processing white tail deer are top notch. The canning and cooking videos I try to watch on with some food in my belly, otherwise I get hungry, real hungry. The tree cutting and firewood videos are pretty much how I do it.

    "Hardship" is a perspective. I too have been disturbed by the sensationalized ways many on UA-cam made of a choice in living one's life? No one notice others, cared about others or chose such a life style a few decades ago. I feel the advent of social media has given some people a tool used to exploit others and self. It's all about playing off the emotions of others for financial gain or to satisfy one's ego. I happy to hear the good news about you test.

    Ya did good Boss. I had 36 1/2 " here at my new homestead,,,the "High Mountain Homestead" and I just didn't let it bother me at all,,it's going to do what it's going to, no biggie IMO. I was snowed in for a couple days but it gave me a chance to do some other things that needed to get done. Half way through the storm I broke trail to the road with the 4 wheeler and after the storm so I could at least get there if need be. I'm not off grid, but I might just as well be as during hevey wet storms or wind storms the power normally goes out but I can work around that pretty easy too. I heat with only wood too and have other options for power if need be and am stocked to the gills with chow. I get a laugh out of some of these channels too when they piss and moan about simple little stuff,,Hell, I'm 70+ disabled and live on my own other than my pup and still manage just fine, even if it does get a bit lonley here sometimes. I live in Central VT @ a bit over 2000 ft ASL and about 5-6 miles from the nearest black top and am next to the last of only 4 houses on the entire road where it gets closed for the winter just past me. I LOVE IT THAT WAY to be honest. I guess us "old timers' just have a bit of a different mind set compaired to other folks. My car was totally covered and it was just a snow bank with absolutly nothing of it showing at all,,and 2 days later with the same rains you got , the ground was almost bare again and I found the car. Ya know what,,I didn't cry about it one little bit and just dug a path to the patio and enjoyed having a camp fire outside next to the river and sitting on the patio on a cast iron park bench having an adult beverage and enjoying the winter wonder land all around me and listining to the river flow by with the dog sitting next to me with her head on my lap. Life is good my friend,,,,,, if you'll only take the time to experiance it and not fret about lifes little challanges. Merry Christmas to you guys and God bless,,,,,

The butts and boobs couples make me cringe.... tbh feels like prosituting your woman for click cash .... smh. I just replaced all the brake lines on my truck, (dam salt eats them up) But having a shop really makes the diff.! Outside in the winter sucks! Replace them with stainless lines, they last! In Pa., we got 24" out of that last noreaster!

    Boss we are the same age and I have found that anything you do is a struggle, it’s not so much the chores that we battle and the things we do, but it’s more of age we are fighting. I have just spent the last two weeks down in my back for reasons I have no idea why? Just part of gettin older I think? I love this video because it’s life and life has enough drama without adding a thing to it Lol. I live in the woods of southern Indiana and it’s all worth it when we sit back with a good meal, hot coffee or tea and look at what we have accomplished in living life on our terms!!!

    I am so glad to hear that you are showing cancer free. My heart glowed hearing that wonderful news. You two got hit with a massive amount of snow. Snow is so beautiful. I greatly miss it but my shoulders are so bad I just couldn’t shovel anymore. I moved to Texas and I have not had to shovel snow since 2005. But I do enjoy watching somebody else do it .😁 I must admit I was glad to hear you talking about other off grid channels with people that are complaining about The issues that come with that lifestyle. I wish people would understand what you see on UA-cam is not glamorous. It is something your body, mind, heart and soul desires. As always it was nice to see you just jumped in and fixed the brake line issue without complaining about it. It’s one thing at a time if you look at everything all at once it’s overwhelming. Your plants are awesome and I just love the way you and Laurie work so well together. I must say I was surprised Tilly and Frankie we’re not out there running around like mad dogs in that snow. But I guess as they get older the snow bothers them too. I hope you and Laurie both had a wonderful Christmas and may the new year bless you both with great health, peace and freedom and so much more love.

    I think reality shows have really put a highlight on offgrid living.Living rural in any northeastern state or canadian province has its set of challenges,let alone off grid.What people don't see are the chores that never end,summer and winter,I've seen many people leave the country and head city bound within 5 yrs.You need drive,ambition and equipment.Dreams are great,reality can be an eye opener.Take care,im filling the rest of the wood room.

    Congrats on your good news! Hope you had a great Christmas. I agree with you on you tube becoming a circus, most of the channels are like the drama queen reality shows. I have unsubscribed from quite a few because of it. Life is lived one day at a time, one challenge at a time, face it and move on to the next. Have a great day, stay safe and healthy, and may God bless..

    In 1975 I went "off-grid" in the Pacific Northwest. Wood cook stove & kerosene lamps. An old Airstream trailer with a lean-to built onto the side for the kitchen & a loft for sleeping built above the trailer. Outhouse, lots of wood chopping, and once-a-month trips to a small town on Highway 101 for supplies. For income, we dug up & bucked up old cedar logs buried in the ground and sold the blocks of cedar to a local shake & shingle mill. Sometimes I get to wishing life could be that simple again.... Merry Christmas, you guys and a Happy New Year.
