You should do Avakin Life, there's so many creeps on there. On one of my accounts I don't use currently so many men friended me just to invite me to their houses to do the sideways tango. 1. Someone asked me to show my naked body for the in-game currency, avacoins. 2. Someone who was probably an adult texted me, and asked me if I wanted to (yk💀) and asked me how old I was. I said (age) and they said they would unfriend me but instead asked me if i was ready to fvk 💀 3. Was invited to a house where there was inappropriate uses for the furniture. In game there is a cage and the person in the cage holds onto the bars and shakes it. And yk those arm things that trap your head and hands? You were literally bent over and every 3 seconds or so, the person in the cage would thrust into you. Yeah. 4. Multiple people asking inappropriate questions. Yk its sad because I love that game and have played it when i was little and it wasn't that weird back then. But now its just a dating simulator full of creeps who want to do the bed dance.
@@NaraSherkoI don't think that war thunder got any creeps, I play war thunder for a while now and I don't see anything creepy in the chats only saw some dumb shit like attack the d point and some guys asking for helps when they somehow flip themselves with their tanks The only problem that war thunder has I think (or more like had now) is how broken is the economy although the developers fixed it
I remember downloading this and then idiotically telling the chat I was 10. I'm just lucky that they all immediately told me to delete the game and that I actually listened to them
That’s actually really wholesome that the people (who I’m assuming were adults) cared about your safety enough to recommend you not use the app. I love that!
Its crazy how the sexual aspect of the game was so normal to me and my friends at a super young age. Like I still remember being 11 years old back then and shit like this was so normal. As an adult im highly disturbed and glad that people are being aware of this game.
Yes, I had no business being there at my age! I remember they had many inappropriate avatars skins available that gave your character the appearance of being nude or something else that is clearly FAR from child-friendly. Occasionally they’d get taken down, but the creators of these skins would just re-upload them and put little to no clothing to get around these restrictions. Its mind boggling they marketed the app to kids knowing damn well they allowed chat rooms/content like that and don’t even get me started on the grown ass people looking like children (toddlers practically, mainly little girls), to make matters worse they’d be grown avatars who very much LOOK grown who go outta their way to date them and justify it because it’s not ‘real’ and the child their dating is not seriously a ‘child’ cuz their bio says 19 and it just happens they simply like ‘looking’ that way but it has nothing to do with their age or a some fantasy. Shit literally promoted pedophilia
@@agirloncrack4413for example if a parent or adult tells them not to do something their going to do it because they don't want to listen to the parent or adult warnings and signs another example is a child clicks on a video with trigging topics and they warn the child not to watch if their triggered by the following topics their not going to listen to that warning their going to skip the warnings and they will watch the video anyway
@@QuanTrietLOLnot everyone’s a shit person, the father took the baby cuz of the condition mom was in,if she was in jail or smth they would for sure tell that, maybe she just knew that letting her go would be a better option
Calling it a kids game.. oh gosh, I don't know - If kids can access it, that's a big problem. It's so often just used by sexual roleplayers. Same for Secondlife - I do remember back in the day when they had a 'teen only' server, which then later merged and adult maps only became accessible by the ability to use a credit card on your account- which is so, so easy for young folk to lie and bypass.
i am completely baffled at how i played this game as a young teen and didn’t experience what many others did. i had no idea just how horrifying this game actually was. my god.
Dude same here, I only played with people I knew irl so I never really interacted with anyone creepy/weird unless we all went to a random lobby but even then we only spoke to each other 💀
Same, I think it was because I was way too goofy in chat lmao. I was like 10, flirting and date what-not did not register in my mind yet so I may or may not have encountered creeps
same here, played it because of an online gf I had back when I was 13 and emo. she asked me to play with her and her best friend. she was from my city, but never wanted to meet IRL. tho, funny how things turned out, I found out she actually wasn't a creepy old man. I met her at a school trip that joined many different schools at the same place and we just saw each other. I was 17 and we weren't even talking anymore. It was just fortunate she wasn't some creepy old man after all lol.
the graveyard idea felt more sweet than creepy, and the mother that ran off with someone she met online leaving her family behind sounds like a terrible person to inflict that sort of worry
I'm SO glad my mom never let me get certain games, she actually looked up problems with them and would give an educated decision. I'm sorry to anyone who was groomed or had other things done to them on this app, wishing you the best
as someone who used imvu as a underaged child (at least 11-12 years old), this is completely true and the amount of times I almost got groomed is insane edit: guys I’m trying to sleep STOP
EWWW thank god i didnt play imvu when i was a kid.. i played like for a day or so and i was like nope this is boring (cuz i only like games that are third person)
I remember playing this game for about a week as a 13 year old. Immediately on day 1 I made a friend that by day 6 was telling me he would fly me to Dubai in rl, wanted me to be his rl gf, he said he was 26 in rl. 13 year old me felt excited but underneath it all felt sick and scared, like this app in 6 days nearly lured me into things I was paranoid of as a child, like I nearly got into that proverbial white van with that stranger mom told me not to talk to.
i played at around 10 i think, got groomed and didnt realize until rn bc i forgot abt this app there was a time i tried to troll a predator even though i was still around 10 and that was probably dangerous bc he still said some creepy shit but :p
i was 9 and was stalked and groomed i think imvu should be for 21 and up not 13 and up i still use imvu cause im 24 now and dont have to worry about being abused but it does happen to adults an ex friend of mine on there had her nudes exploited by this creep who cat fished her
The graveyard thing is actually kind of sweet. Sure, it's weird, but it's a nice idea to immortalize the memory of people who've made an impact on an online platform. You could definitely argue it's in poor taste, though.
Not in poor taste. It's just a virtual shrine of sorts. Such a damn shame the place was so toxic because the creative side was fun. Actually really wish I could access my old account just to look at the rooms I made again.
Ngl I am absolutely for it. People are allowed to mourn the way they want. It reminds me when I made a grave for my grandma in minecraft when I was really young, deconstructing the concept of death all on my own.
Honestly, I remember seeing IMVU ads everywhere as a kid, and I do remember that I had a few friends playing it and saying how cool it was, but I remember thinking that it must be a game for adults because the ads definitely made my 10 year old self uncomfortable, I'm just grateful I never got into it after watching this video
I'm a new subscriber and when I saw this video I just had to comment. I remember when IMVU launched AP. I had to get it. It was like $9.99. I lost my job and I needed something to do. I got so engrossed in the game that I just lost touch with reality. It got so bad I needed an intervention. I can say that I'm better for it now and I came out with one hell of a story I can write. It's amazing (not sure in what way it's amazing) that I survived that chapter. I check in periodically but my actual account was perma-banned from inactivity. It's a loss but I'm happier that it's a loss. The chapter, in essence, closed itself. That was 12-13 years ago. I don't even think much about it anymore. Thank you for the coverage and the acid trip down memory lane. LOL
So glad you made a video on this, the app is so sexualized and u can even access adult features if u pay for some type of premium, its so easy to find children on there its genuinely concerning especially with the "social" feature they have where u can post public photos.
and in second life you can access adult feature maps for free its so disgusting when i signed up 9+ years ago (i was about 11 or 12) i had to leave and come back when i turned 18 because i was like "ew i need to stay away from this place until i turn 18 because as a kid i should NOT be looking at this stuff"
One of my favorite pass times during covid was going into the maternity chats and ruining birth fetisher’s emersion by trolling them. “Oh no, sorry. You’re not actually pregnant, you’re just severely constipated.”
Nahhh This doc was insane! 😱 Thank you for bringing a bigger light to the weird things happening on IMVU! Hopefully this opens more people's eyes, including the platform itself.
I honestly can't wait for this. I played this game when I was younger and I gotta tell you... I'm still traumitized from some of the things I saw there.
Im so glad i left this toxic online community. I was lucky enough not to encounter any of these horrible things, but the drama alone was bad enough. Too many people taking an online thing way too seriously. Its like their whole life to some of them. I was always put off by the child avis and some of the roleplaying i saw people doing.
I would like to add that its not ALL bad and i met a handful of decent people i still consider to be friends to this day. But the rest of it is just 🤢🤮
man when i watch vids like this im reminded of the time how i used to take those internet safety sessions at school for granted thinking nothing would happen to me. back then i never realised just how dangerous the internet is. it even goes to the grassroots and basic things like not accepting any friend requests from unknown people to not revealing personal info.
We had one of those deadass like the day after I blocked a 23 y/o that was grooming me and I nearly shit my pants with anxiety cause I thought they somehow would know and I'd get in trouble
God, I remember the good old days where even social media platforms and chat forums would warn you to use a username that isn't your real name and not to go around sharing too much personal info. And then Facebook came along and ruined everything.
Ah how I miss the OG IMVU. It's actually not that bad, every virtual game like VRchat can be dangerous. You just got to keep your kids away from it and not fall for the red flags or do anything that's morally wrong. IMVU got NFT's now, kinda interesting to invest in or become a creator so your creativity can be used. It can be a fun game however, the IMVU support aint jack sh-t. Also, it uses luxury brands like gucci flipflops that you can buy for your outfit (guilty lol).
@@zwerver6249 used to play this 10yrs ago, my account is still alive lmao, i used to mod multiple rooms there, the amount of RP Family with their kingdoms and such, bringing in underage people (their rp children) in rooms where adult convo always happen was insane (I always put "Adult 18++ only" on rooms I managed). It is horrific. I do have to say that, to be fare, people meet psychos and catfishers on every social platform on the internet. I just wish he had seen some sign of what she was capable of. Absolutely horrific.
I checked my old emails recently and apparently I was only 7 when I made my first IMVU account. I can't believe this game is still to this day so easy to access because all I really did in that game is be inappropriate with much much older people and even get myself into scary situations. I feel like this topic isn't discussed enough as I really do feel like IMVU is dangerous towards the young kids who do play it and they need to do so much more to stop this from happening.
I am so happy that a lot of people are seeing this and I'm glad it's posted. Imvu needs to be shut down. No normal innocent person should play this nonsense. The moderators are up to something too.
I genuinely loved this app when I started using it and because I was a teen it didn’t even register to me how creepy it was. The app should have basically just been made for adults. Makes it too easy for creeps to be creepy
But creeps don't want to interact with adults. Creeps will be creeps. I don't think small kids should interact with each other online... 12+ is okay, if ppl respected the age req. 12 is a decent age for some maturity. Knowing who not to talk to, doubting if the person Is what he's telling he is and all that. What happens is that some parents just give their kids a phone not to disturb them and they end up not talking to their own children, so the kids don't get enough advice and don't want to go and ask, not to bother the parents.
@@lukashenrique4295 I would say two things can be true. Imo parents should warn their kids about internet stranger danger and I also beleive there should be no kids younger than 18 on IMVU. The way the app is designed makes it FAR too easy for creeps and I'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to young folks and kids. I know It's impratical to say keeps kids off the internet but It's feasable to have kid only spaces, pre-teen spaces, teen spaces, young adult spaces, and adult spaces. Yea it'd take more work to be sure things stay on the up-and-up but it's well worth it given what's at stake.
I remember being hooked on this game when I was like 12 (26 now) and how explicit it was. I think that was probably my first exposure to that sort of stuff online, and it lead to a very long battle with porn addiction. I'm just so thankful I'm not one of the poor kids who actually got hurt from this game.
I feel u on that it was from imvu where I got exposed way more to the sexual stuff as a kid I remember this discord server of now think about it where it had weird people that’s as older than me that I made that wanted to meet up and so at that time I was a teenage boy 15-16 and this one particular woman was 25-26 and knew my age but had a relationship with me and used to ask for nudes and finger her self on videos and send to me as well as threaten to self harm when I didn’t ask back her massage or talk to her often, I thank god I live on an island and not in the us cause god knows what could of happen to me or what would of.
As a former content creator on imvu, I can confirm that the company is rotten to the core, only cares about money, and the site, while full of great folks, is so completely filled with the worst kind of people.
I’m happy I wasn’t allowed to get games like IMVU when I was younger. I saw some classmates get heartbroken over a random person that was probably college aged.
As someone who played this as an underaged teen i love this video, i remember getting in a relationship with who i thought was 15 yr but ended up being a 40 yr man
That one time I was 11 and a 41 y. o tried to get w me and I went w it cuz he gave me credits and when I got enough credits for my dream outfit I blocked him😭
I was JUST wondering a few weeks ago if someone was ever going to cover IMVU. I never realized how deep the iceberg went, holy shit. Thank you for your time and dedication! This needed to be said!
i remember downloading this game when i was 12-13 & innocent thinking it was just a dress up game and i was so wrong... i'm now 19 and i don't understand how grown people my age would go on these games to flirt with very young teenagers it's absolutely disgusting
I never had weird experiences on imvu, and I was playing ages 10-17 years old. But at the same time I was very aware of creeps and I also valued my personal information. I treated imvu like the role playing game it was😅
The story about the little girl really cracked me, I feel like crying my eyes out :( The things people are capable of, cruel people, some people doesn't deserve to live and that's why not everyone has an equal worth. I already feel shitty but this left me more depressed and with thought crisis.I saw a two videos like two days ago and they were awful. I couldn't stop think about what i saw and heard in those videos because the people involved in those videos were *MESSED UP* af. I had nightmares, still have because they kind left me speechless and depressed. Visual Venture, you are one of the best creators on UA-cam, love your videos and find them intresting and the same time disturbing, but still watch them, glad I stumbled upon you. Have a great day everyone!
I have noticed UA-cam suggestions for me have become increasingly disturbing or violent, I know part of it is my interest in true crime interrogations, but I notice it on those snapchat tiles that pop up after you finish watching friends stories as well. On snapchat sometimes it's literal surprise gore and I'm just like HOLY SHIT IS IT 2011 lol
Such an underrated channel! In hindsight, I'm honestly happy that my parents didn't allow me to have a phone till I was 15, probably avoided a ton of predatory people
The amount of creepy ppl and bullies on this game was so massive that it was too scary for me to even talk on the servers and soon later i got rid of it. Im happy that someone is finally speaking up about this game and it's users
Visual venture unironically said “because life is too short to be wasted behind a screen. MAKE SURE YOU GUYS CLICK THE LINK IN THE DESCRIPTION TO REGISTER ON PC AND PLAY WAR THUNDER” Without skipping a beat 😂
The amount of trauma the subhumans inflict on people and even minors is gross. I have had an IMVU account for roughly 13 years. I’m 24 now, and the amount of groomers/pedophiles and bullying is so god damn toxic. I was groomed by a man when I was 15 and he was 24. He COULD NOT wait until I turned 18. When I was 15 he talked about some horrendous shit with me and what he would do to me. Even his friend, who I hated with a burning passion, even spoke up for me against his actions. The amount of men on there who told me how “ hot” I was after I told them I was a literal minor is mind blowing. IMVU is a place where social rejects act on their sickest and most twisted fantasies. It’s also a place where “adults” bully the hell out of anyone and everyone if they find one thing they don’t like about them. If nobody is grooming minors, they’re talking shit. If nobody is talking shit, they’re in a discord call talking shit. I’m honestly surprised IMVU is still around and hasn’t gotten sued into oblivion.
im so glad i didnt play imvu when i was a kid for like a day when i dont like games where there's no 3rd person i just don't see the appeal im 21 now but when i was a kid i played like only a day and i was like "nope" and left.. i play second life tho now and i did play when i was a kid for also a day and left cuz i was like "i shouldnt be seeing this stuff cuz im not 18 yet" and left
I played imvu when I was like 12 and my sister was 10. I saw my primary school teacher playing it and I wanted to play it too. I only ever met people from my country on it though. But man did I get bullied by Americans telling me to speak English, when I actually was speaking English. And a few groomers that I didn't know were groomers until I got older.
i got groomed on imvu by many men even women on there luckily I refused on sending them any pictures but it did take a toll on me mentally im 24now was on imvu since i was 9 i still use it but only to chat with friends from my old high school and spending hours on end making avis if im waiting for sims content
girl ill be honest lots of men love entertaining the idea of doing nasty shit w way younger girls. on snapchat not imvu this 22 year old would literally send vids of himself jerking off to pics of me while i was 14 n now im 16. i knew it was wrong but its crazy what anyone can do for male validation. just shows how they can be the dirtiest things alive fr😬
We are the same age and this is exactly how it played out. Kids are oblivious to these dangers, and are exposed to things from these online chat rooms. The adults on the other hand, know what they are doing. They have the time to spend online and the sick mindset to talk to children. I hear that discord is the new kik, which was another platform that allowed grooming
Visual you are doing an amazing job, even more so brining up disgusting sites that not many know about like this one to the public. I can’t wait for this doc and I know it’ll be great! Have a great day visual and I know you’ll be able to hit 500k by the end of the year!
I’ve been playing this game since I was 11 and only recently stopped playing. This game is full of the most creepy and immature adults I’ve ever met. I’ve been groomed several times by older men on imvu, it’s truly disgusting. Thank you for making this video because this is definitely something that needs to be talked about more.
I still hop on from time to time on mobile. The community is completely dull even in adult rooms. Almost every adult room is full of oversized or tiny avatars just afking and playing another games. I don't think IMVU is able to cater towards adults due to how limited adult poses are compared to premium adult games like 3DXChat which is way better in comparison. The community is also very old school. They still think the bravado 'slay' is considered cool.
Gosh I remember the old IMVU.. I saw ads for it on MySpace. The appeal of it for me was to be able to dress really cool and be the scene queen I desperately wanted to be 😅 I tried playing it when I was like 13 and was immediately bombarded with attention from men. It actually really intimidated me and made me feel like I was playing on something I shouldn’t be playing on, like it felt like it was meant for adults. Never went back on it again.
I had no idea it was ever even considered a kids game, I always thought it was for adults and never understood why I kept getting ads for it everywhere.
That's not the old IMVU. I started soon after the game launched. Back when there was only a chat now button. It was full of people who genuinely wanted to chat. I don't know when it became a sexual hellscape but the game had been out for quite a few years before that happened
The creeps on there really ruin it for everyone. I joined as a young adult right before they changed to the sexy avatars and the dating themed advertising and the change was dramatic. Suddenly I was getting made fun of constantly for choosing a more anime esque older avi model and creating a goblin character by all these wannabe Jersey Shore types, and you couldn't meet new people just by random chats because nine times out of ten it would be some guy trying to date you or some kid asking to see your avi naked. Truly hell was other people.
@@RaspberryHugs Guess they got greedy. The new models and new marketing practically changed the whole scene over night, but I don't doubt they make bank off the fetish communities.
I remember being around 12-14 and I would be using imvu just to have fun and make a character, check out rooms or make friends. Little did I know I would stumble upon rooms where ppl were performing sexual acts or men would start sexting me in the chat rooms. It was extremely disturbing to think I was exposed to all of that at such a young age
Same thing with Habbo and Club Penguin. Gosh, it's awful how creeps are everywhere. If I have kids one day, imma tell them not to socialize online until they are 16.
I wonder if anyone has checked up on Annemarie since she showed up at the police. Something about it seems fishy. Was she actually safe with Shin? Could Shin have actually been threatening her to tell the others she was safe so they'd leave them alone?
Dang. I’ve been on and off of IMVU for YEARS. Nobody usually talks in the non AP rooms. About 5 years ago I had a “daughter” who in real life was pregnant. She eventually gave “birth” but had a stillborn. She sent me the photo of the baby. I was suspicious because of how she described everything. A girl that I was friends with IRL was suspicious of her story as well. So what we did was reverse search the baby and found out it was someone else’s stillborn. She had also lied and said that her twin sister IRL was murdered. Her mother was abusive and committed suicide. I texted her and told her I knew she was lying about everything. She swore up and down she wasn’t, but I got overwhelmed and ended up blocking her on IMVU and her phone number. Ever since then, I’ve been on and off IMVU. I checked her IMVU profile last year and saw that she sold her account. Traumatizing? Very much so. Now when I go on there, nobody talks unless you’re in an AP room. Tbh, the coolest people I’ve met were in the AP rooms.
I haven’t been on this game in almost a year. It went from being a fun game full of interesting fun people, to an afk lounge full of antisocial losers who don’t even talk back when you speak to them in a CHAT ROOM.
This is very true. I've had my account since 2017 and it was fun back then but now its soooo boring. I havent played in a long time because every time I go into a chat room nobody talks!!! Or they are straight up mean.
@@minji5457same I also had my account since 2017 and I had avakin life. Lots of people use to talk in chat rooms. As someone who grew up basically online, now that I'm nearly 30, it's mind-baffling how many times I've been preyed on and didn't realize it. There were just so many adults looking for kids to befriend them. And of course, me being the depressed, insecure, and anxious pre-teen self was just eating it up. There was always a weird vibe with the chatting feature but I mainly used it for the forums to roleplay. Then again, there's no telling how many adults were actually on there too.
I found IMVU through a YT ad when i was 9 years old. it was on this game that i first got exposed to grooming and sexual topics. i'm not sure if it's changed now, but back when i played it, most of the popular clothes in the catalog were lingerie, and the grand majority of the chat rooms were made for people to have virtual sex. it's pretty scary how easy it was/is for anyone to make an account and instantly join a sex-themed chat room or buy inappropriate clothing.
Same thing w me i saw it in a yt ad and it definitely wasn’t advertised the way it should’ve been at first I only rlly cared abt the fashion part of it cuz i wanted to make cute outfits for my avatar and post them on my feed etc. but i got more deep into it and it was definitely not something I should’ve been doing at that age…
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! Honestly took the biggest sigh of relief about THIS spotlight on Imvu. I thought it was a little weird from the first time playing, but deleted a whole acc days after a revisit on it.😬😬 I’m not only glad people are seeing the worst in this game, but may now have a bigger reason to from this awareness. Can’t even say how much bullying is a problem in Imvu bc of everything else being a mask for it… Never cared if it was marketed as a half-dating game or not, I’ve been so disgusted and annoyed of how over-sexualized 90% of the game is. Legitimately from the outfits in the shop to half the chatrooms dedicated to be strip clubs, which would honestly be normal on a somewhat satire level if not being exposed to it 1000 times, and if people on this game weren’t serious about desperately getting “action.”💀💀 (unfortunately most I’ve seen being 13-16)
I used to play it when I was around 7 to 9 years old. It was infested with sexual content and groomers. So many older guys used to message me there daily but thank God I didn't know how to speak English back then. Around 2 years ago I got ahold of my old account and some of the messages I read that was sent to 7yr me was outright predatory and could definitely land so many people in jail
I was on IMVU in my late teens and although I wasn't groomed, I did seek out sexual content on there. I now know that probably wasn't okay, but I also don't want anyone saying I was a victim because I wasn't, I wanted it and I don't feel trauma from it, however children- minors, shouldn't be on a site like IMVU at all. The most I feel in relation to that time of my life is embarrassment, but that's it and it's cause I know I knew what I was doing. I imagine others who went through a similar expirence to mine would feel differently or were influenced by different means though. It is disgusting though that this happened and is still probably happening. I feel sorry for all the lives ruined by this site. I'd say let's hope stuff like this changes but, it just seems to be getting worse across the internet...
Being sexually curious as a child/teen is normal and I was in your situation too. Didn't get groomed because I was catfishing as an adult. 😬 Not to defend the game in any sort of way. I was really most drawn to the character customization and spend most of my time just looking through the shop..
I kind of did the same tbh, but I think it’s normal when you’re a teen to be curious and explore these topics. Some people are more mature than others when they’re young and know how to keep themselves safe when on sites like this. If someone made me uncomfortable, I would ignore or block it. No trauma for me either, I also wanted to see these things! Too bad most kids aren’t mature enough to do that though. :/
i feel like kids seeking out inappropriate stuff on their own is a grey area that doesn't get talked about enough. when i was in my early teens i stumbled across some stuff that i ended up getting way more into than i probably should've, and now i feel like it's shaped my psychosexual development irreparably. it was nobody's fault except my own for seeking it out in the first place, so i feel like i'm not really valid in saying i've been "traumatised". but to this day i struggle to envision myself in a normal, healthy relationship without some of those uncomfy fetishistic elements seeping through into my thoughts.
@@clownball3457 I think it doesn’t get talked about because adults treat kids like they’re always innocent and pure, when they should know damn well from their own time as that age that’s not true. It’s even easier nowadays for kids to seek out stuff they shouldn’t and instead of educating them, adults taboo the subject and try not to talk about it. Safely educating will likely decrease the want to seek out these things and not feeling well, prevented and caged from the feelings you get during puberty might help too. I did it because I was incredibly horny, I’m still a virgin because I was basically either scared out of doing it or something else. I was into a hyper sexual classmate in school, so much so I broke up with my bf at the time because I fell out of love and didn’t want to cheat. His sexual talk would just turn me on, but one day my mum tells me in a horrible way that I shouldn’t get with him because he’d do nasty things to me- jokes on you mum! That’s the whole reason I was into him! But I was scared of her so I never pursued him. I was so afraid of the adults in my life that any opportunity for having my first time I shyed away from, so I seeked it online where I could control my environment because my parents barely suspected anything wrong was happening and I was smart online and knew what I was doing. I knew it was risky but I couldn’t care less, I don’t even regret it now. I started watching porn when I was 13, incognito to prevent it going on my search history too. Luckily I never got sucked so into it that I think it’s reality. There’s also teens who look older enough and have convincing fake ids that manage to get into 18+ clubs and hook up with people (mostly girls hooking up with men) and if their parents find out? The men get into trouble for sleeping with the girls they assumed were 18+ in an adult-only club! The teenagers should be taking accountability, not the adults they lied to.
thank you for covering this, I was like 8-9 when I first played this. I'm almost graduating highschool now, I fell into some deep stuff on that app. More people need to know about what happens in those chatrooms.
I know it's ultimately the predators' fault for preying, but when I was a kid the adults were always telling us kids to stay out of chatrooms unless it's specifically a monitored child-friendly chatroom - like you'd find on the Nickelodeon website - and you should still have your parents permission to even be in that. So, like, did people just stop telling kids that it's a terrible idea to go into online chatrooms because there are creepy adults in them at some point?
@@FrenkTheJoy it wasn’t that, my parents always told me to never talk to people online. They always checked my things but I got better at hiding stuff like this. I wanted to talk to strangers, i never got groomed but a lot of things I did should’ve never happened.
I remember playing this when i was 8 or 9 so i faked my age saying i was 19.. Basically i learned how to talk like adults and made some friends but it was still a new game and i didn't know what it really was back then. It wasnt as bad back then but i still talked to A LOT of creepy guys, and i really wish i hadnt found that game at such a age because people said some DISGUSTING things. Im older now and re-download it just to see, it seems ok with some people but some people on there are still entirely disgusting, so if you're a child, kid, teen, idc, pls dont make the same mistake i did, and just avoid it entirely
this game traumatized me for life, the sexualization of everything in IMVU is insane. i started playing in 3rd grade and hid it very well from my parents and they didn’t suspect a thing even though they went through my devices every week. i was groomed, i had an online “boyfriend”. i am a lot better now but oh my god. 💀
Man, I played IMVU all through my young and older teens. I've been in one family rp, but luckily it was a wholesome one. I can see how it'd be easy to fall into these bad situations on IMVU.
the amount of e-drama 14yr old me dealt with from this app😭😭 there was a lot of lewd poses in rooms and fake nude skins for gen accounts and it was so gross
I'm so glad this video was made, because I was playing IMVU for years when I was younger and I have to say, it really ruined me mentally when I was younger, it was very toxic and filled with a lot of problematic people. So happy I left it!
There are creepy people everywhere! Not just on imvu. I've been a content creator on imvu for 19 years now and I've rarely encountered people as bad as this video depicts. There are tons of kind, normal and talented (creators and graphic artists) people on imvu!
I feel so sorry for the families that were robbed of their youthful children or their loved ones, I can't stand "parents" who kill their own kids. I can't imagine the pain and grief that these people have gone through. I do believe that too much of anything can cause damage that may last forever, because I used to be an online dater. I had been treated wrongly all my life and since people started complimenting me and nurturing me, I didn't know how to accept it and just ran. It's like the whole world hated me, all I had was my family, yet when my mom came back from prison, the ones who abused me emotionally started to treat me right and brush my abuse under the rug. It's still there though, the scars are still there and they don't leave.
Yeah, I played this game as a teen (mostly for the fashion aspects and I’d just play with a friend of mine so we could make outfits) but I would get nervous about some of the chats too. That section on rooms brought up so suppressed and faded memories 😅 I was never really social on those games, thankfully Edit: as I got further into the video, I’m genuinely glad I never got too deep into IMVU because this was a lot
I think the creepiest room I've seen recently was a room called "Teeny Boopers" with tags like "Barely legal, teen, kid, naughty, lil peen". IMVU basically has everything perverse, there are normal social communities but they aren't as common as lifestyle things. PabloSunny is a popular example but I've seen a lot worse - it flies on the site so long as users don't directly state anything against TOS they can be reported for. MamaMax' account was disabled because they set their age to 18+ and openly stated they were a minor.
holy shit i know exactly what your talking about, i stalked through the creators account, all she posts is lame memes and quotes, but im pretty sure a majority of her following is older people rping as kids, just weird in general
Ah, so it sounds like they are actually trying to keep kids out of IMVU... that is honestly the right thing for the company to do. You just can't have child friendly and adult only on the same platform, it never ends well. I see no problem with people having their roleplay rooms and all that. Just wish the social aspect wasn't ruined by the shift to dating and sex fantasies.
I struggle to believe anything from MamaMax, given how he screwed up so many investigations and lied about the PabloSunny investigation. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd made most of it up. It was all for views - he didn't care about the survivors of CSAM.
I remember being on IMVU everyday at like 16/17, completely lying about my age and identity because I wanted a bit of privacy, but I've definitely seen people in their 20's talking to teenagers and 13/14 year olds. I remember having a friend on there who moved in with her boyfriend (they were both in their 20s), and she quickly moved out because she said he was a slob lol.
I used IMVU as a kid, I am so happy my mom stopped me from using it. But Instagram was just as dangerous for me as a kid. Thank you so much for covering the topic
I’m glad you made a video on this!! I downloaded IMVU when I was 12 and met a lot of creepy ppl over the years. I remember following this persons instructions to download a video call app, but followed my guts and deleted them & the app. I was also approached by this couple in their 40s who were running a cam girl business. There was even a person I made good friends with and they fell in love with me, but when I told them my age they didn’t mind. They were 25. I cut off that relationship. Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t go further with any of these online relations… who knows what could’ve happened. It’s certain than kids should be monitored and what apps they’re allowed on!
I always used IMVU as a character customization game bc the social aspect of it (and of games like this) always weirded me out, you can never be too wary of others online, but the CC part of it was always attractive.
I remember playing IMVU as a teenager, moreso on the same era where I was into Kingdom Hearts. I’m glad to have gone to okay chatrooms where it was just mostly KH spaces and chatted wholesomely with people who dressed as Larxene and Kairi, and then I just went on hours in the store just to dress up as Kingdom Hearts characters and mix match clothes. What I didn’t like about the store was how the clothes were weirdly revealing and just trying to find like normal looking ones was hard specifically if you were looking for one that wasn’t too revealing. Then there were really good outfit designs that showed folds of the clothes and all I ever did back then after that was dress up. Soon I forgot all about this game and seeing this video now made me realize how lucky that I have a low key intuition that somehow dumb brains me from any of the dangers. And caring hugs to those who had to experience the dark side of it all. You all didn’t know what could have happened.
Thank you so much for shedding light onto this app. Honestly I am still very traumatized by the things I’ve experienced on there. There’s so many influencers who are advertising this sick app not knowing the true horror that happens on there. Me and my partner left this app for many of those reasons and it’s so toxic it’s not made for couples at all. It’s fun to make avatars sure I joined because I love the aspect of creating characters so I can draw them but everything else ? Burn it in hell.
I was groomed on this platform in 2014 when I was 16 years old the person who groomed me was 27-- at the time. It was never a kids game, and will never be.. I know I should have known better but I will never forget being traumatised on this platform.
This is gonna sound crazy insane to anyone reading this.. but the first time i ever played this game was kindergarten.. yea.. about 6 years old.. maybe younger. i recall me sitting at a table, playing with floam, and whispering to the girl next to me “i play this game called IMVU… it’s inappropriate-..” and she told me she was gonna tell the teacher😭 i used to have unlimited access to the internet, down to TOONTOWN, Avakinworld and Second life. and my grandma always let me play online multiplayer games. after she stopped noticing i started making my own accounts and doing it myself
I played imvu when I was like 13 and umm, I'm glad I stopped because it was so obvious that there was a CLEAR problem. I'd go on "servers" that I could easily get into and .. they were not for people my age. I eventually stopped though, because I didn't have enough credits to look 'good enough', what a great reason but I'm happy stopped using it. And the way I got into imvu, was through imvu youtube and the videos I found and were watching weren't cute family vlogs in the game nor narrative stories, but inappropriate videos that were not for people my age.
last section made me tear up.. that's so sad. I grew up playing imvu and its so disappointing that all of these childhood games have gone to shit and filled with predators.
I used to know someone who used to be obsessed with this game and tried to get me onboard with it. They also got upset with me because I didn't want to get on the game and they'd get wrapped up in drama almost on the daily on it.

I said (age) and they said they would unfriend me but instead asked me if i was ready to fvk 💀

@@NaraSherkoI don't think that war thunder got any creeps, I play war thunder for a while now and I don't see anything creepy in the chats only saw some dumb shit like attack the d point and some guys asking for helps when they somehow flip themselves with their tanks

Its crazy how the sexual aspect of the game was so normal to me and my friends at a super young age. Like I still remember being 11 years old back then and shit like this was so normal. As an adult im highly disturbed and glad that people are being aware of this game.
When I was a kid I was convinced it was for adults!
Well you could see it was for adults tho

Calling it a kids game.. oh gosh, I don't know - If kids can access it, that's a big problem. It's so often just used by sexual roleplayers. Same for Secondlife - I do remember back in the day when they had a 'teen only' server, which then later merged and adult maps only became accessible by the ability to use a credit card on your account- which is so, so easy for young folk to lie and bypass.

Dude same here, I only played with people I knew irl so I never really interacted with anyone creepy/weird unless we all went to a random lobby but even then we only spoke to each other 💀
Same, I think it was because I was way too goofy in chat lmao. I was like 10, flirting and date what-not did not register in my mind yet so I may or may not have encountered creeps
i played this game too as a kid it was boring but i just saw people doing goofy dances and stuff
same here, played it because of an online gf I had back when I was 13 and emo. she asked me to play with her and her best friend. she was from my city, but never wanted to meet IRL. tho, funny how things turned out, I found out she actually wasn't a creepy old man. I met her at a school trip that joined many different schools at the same place and we just saw each other. I was 17 and we weren't even talking anymore. It was just fortunate she wasn't some creepy old man after all lol.

The graveyard thing is actually kind of sweet. Sure, it's weird, but it's a nice idea to immortalize the memory of people who've made an impact on an online platform. You could definitely argue it's in poor taste, though.
Honestly this sound sweet! 😢
Yeah, there's not much of a reason to lump it in with all the degenerate stuff mentioned in this video as long as it isn't in poor taste.
It’s kinda creepy😭

I agree the app is more for adults definitely
@@lukashenrique4295 I would say two things can be true.

FR THAT WAS TOTALLY MESSED UP 💀
I was JUST wondering a few weeks ago if someone was ever going to cover IMVU.
You as well, I hope you're having a nice weekend. ❤
I get the same way, that's why I skipped that part. If I had watched it, I wouldn't be able to sleep.
And the ads are just WILD😭😭😭
Visual venture unironically said “because life is too short to be wasted behind a screen. MAKE SURE YOU GUYS CLICK THE LINK IN THE DESCRIPTION TO REGISTER ON PC AND PLAY WAR THUNDER”
Without skipping a beat 😂

I’m so glad someone is finally talking about this
12:58 Mamamax??? Hell no 🤐
Gosh I remember the old IMVU..
You listened to your intuition.
I’m glad I was too shy to even chat with ppl on it, I just liked the dress up lol

HELLO
thank you for making a video on this, imvu has done so much damage to me personally and so many more of my friends, it deserves this awareness.
I can’t believe this game is still going I used to play back in 2006.
I wonder if anyone has checked up on Annemarie since she showed up at the police. Something about it seems fishy. Was she actually safe with Shin? Could Shin have actually been threatening her to tell the others she was safe so they'd leave them alone?
I would like to know too. It all seemed suspicious
How is someone lying about their life traumatizing to you? Dramatic as fuck
I agree with the ap rooms bit. Most loyal imvu users sit in them 😂

"take a break and go touch grass" best words i've heard in years
As someone who grew up basically online, now that I'm nearly 30, it's mind-baffling how many times I've been preyed on and didn't realize it.
Felttttt this
I found IMVU through a YT ad when i was 9 years old. it was on this game that i first got exposed to grooming and sexual topics. i'm not sure if it's changed now, but back when i played it, most of the popular clothes in the catalog were lingerie, and the grand majority of the chat rooms were made for people to have virtual sex. it's pretty scary how easy it was/is for anyone to make an account and instantly join a sex-themed chat room or buy inappropriate clothing.
it hasnt changed there are now ap rooms dedicated to child aboose
Same thing w me i saw it in a yt ad and it definitely wasn’t advertised the way it should’ve been at first I only rlly cared abt the fashion part of it cuz i wanted to make cute outfits for my avatar and post them on my feed etc. but i got more deep into it and it was definitely not something I should’ve been doing at that age…
BEEN WAITING ON THIS VIDEO ALL MY LIFE
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! Can’t even say how much bullying is a problem in Imvu bc of everything else being a mask for it…
Never cared if it was marketed as a half-dating game or not, I’ve been so disgusted and annoyed of how over-sexualized 90% of the game is.
Not to defend the game in any sort of way.
same i was just curious and i always pretended to be older never let anyone know i was young
i feel like kids seeking out inappropriate stuff on their own is a grey area that doesn't get talked about enough. when i was in my early teens i stumbled across some stuff that i ended up getting way more into than i probably should've, and now i feel like it's shaped my psychosexual development irreparably. it was nobody's fault except my own for seeking it out in the first place, so i feel like i'm not really valid in saying i've been "traumatised". but to this day i struggle to envision myself in a normal, healthy relationship without some of those uncomfy fetishistic elements seeping through into my thoughts.

That section on rooms brought up so suppressed and faded memories 😅 I was never really social on those games, thankfully
Edit: as I got further into the video, I’m genuinely glad I never got too deep into IMVU because this was a lot
"Littles Bedroom" is worse
Every game is creepy if the creepers join in, blocking the creeps keeps every game safe, stay safe everyone
You all didn’t know what could have happened.
ngl i found the funniest ppl on here 😭 everyone i encountered in 2017-2020 were highly entertaining

I used to know someone who used to be obsessed with this game and tried to get me onboard with it. They also got upset with me because I didn't want to get on the game and they'd get wrapped up in drama almost on the daily on it.
