While the idea of putting in shirtless macho action hero dudes may seem more consistent with the American concept of the 1980's movies the Contra games were supposedly based on, it's not so sensible as sending a couple of armored robots that look like Chappie who can endure the dangers much better realistically.

Anyway, one of the best games ever, with amazing bosses that often require a very strategic approach. That boss where you have to cling to the missiles drove me nuts. The damage this beast could take! And when you watch this and think it looks easy, you have to remember that what you don't see on the screen is the adrenaline rush and the wrecked nerves, when you jump from missile to missile knowing that one mistake will put you back to square one...
Man, I was 8 years old when this came out back in 92. You are an absolute savage blitzing this on hard mode... It took me my whole childhood just to beat it on normal mode! Haha you have a new sub my friend 👍🏻

Since all the humanoid enemies were already robots even in Contra III, only the player characters had to be changed in this one. Though since there's so many screens of the heroes posing badassily, that's still ended being quite bit of stuff to be redrawn. The subtitle has always been quite intriguing - just exactly against whose authority are the aliens rebelling?
This is the PAL version of Contra III, The Contra games were changed to replace the Human characters with Robots in PAL releases. Something about that having Man to Man slaughter goes against the European censorship laws.
I personally know it as Super Probotector, because that's the version I had, and I remember connecting PAL to SECAM adapter to the carthridge in order to play it on my SNES.

I was so good at this game on it's highest difficulty when I had it. The music drove me to master it...Good choice.
The one thing the SNES undeniably had over the Genesis was the sound design. The opening track gets me SO PUMPED!
