Punewale people are united and showing strength to oppose SWM plant. Government has to listen them.. Can't put those life on risk..must have to reconsider and need to find other place.
In cities we need to grow more trees to control the pollution but in Punawale, there is a plan to establish a garbage depot in a forest of 22 hectares by cutting thousands of trees. Moreover, 1 lakh plus people are living there who will face health issues due to garbage depot. Hence the garbage depot should not be permitted in Punawale.
SWMP is a serious concern not only for Punawale residents but also for Tathawade, LR, marungi, Hinjewadi and Wakad residents as well. There is strong wind always flowing from west to east which will make it even worse for all the eastern side localities. Having this huge garbage depot will increase movement of garbage trucks every 5-10 min which lead to lot of pollution and garbage spillage on the roads as we all know how efficient municipalities are in handling such stuff in India. Only way to cancel this .

Ideally PCMC should convert it into big park like MBR Park in Hyderabad.. KBR National Park, also known as Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Park, is a vast spread of lush greenery and rich fauna located in the middle of Hyderabad city- Jubilee Hills. ▫️Established in 1994 with an aim to protect the richness and biodiversity of the area it is built on, the park is sprawled over an area of about 156 hectares in the lush lanes of Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills. The park is named after former Chief Minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy and is a must-visit place for walkers and joggers.
Very nice example..I'm strongly with this thought..but unfortunately PMC & PCMC are corrupted and will sale land to real estate builders and everyone makes money....... I bet after few years Garbage depo will not happen and then our common people will celebrate and this land will be utilized by builders. No garden,No sport complex... nothing for next generation.
