    You have to avoid flying around with your quantum drive spooled up. Just turn it on when you need to make a jump. It was upsetting the first day but honestly I learned a lot from it: Leaving a QT drive spooled up drains power from your craft. What they need to do is get 3.23 out so we don't have to leave the QT drive spooled up to see how far we are from our destination and we can just mark it with a pin.

      In the current build, after coming out of QT, pull up the map and set route again. It will give you a marker for your destination.

      The fun part of the nomad is that even if you are not actively flying, just having quantum spooled will overheat you with stock components in not very much time. If you forget to set a map marker you can pretty easily get a heat warning looking at the star map and trying to set a destination to a place you aren't sure the location of.
      I'm not sure this is a bug, it could just be the way the stats are but the nomad was my first ship and I assumed it was normal, till I tried other ships.

      when I played I also wish there were other or better ways to navigate besides the quantum jump, good suggestions

    uhm, looks like you did this to prove a point, all you did is prove that you had your quantum drive active while flying in atmosphere, that will over heat a ship!
    I hope you don't operate any dangerous equipment irl

    One way for CIG to get you to spend more money on another Ship, we should all get refunds for spending on the Nomad

    I mean, the video is a nice, short 1 min long, but ...
    Do you think it would have been a better video if it included ANY context on how the overheating happens or what you can do to mitigate it?
    Or, maybe it is better to just show that if you do, "Something" for, "Some amount of time", in, "Some way", and do nothing but continue to do those, "Some things" that you will overheat and die?

      This is a twitch clipped video that I linked to the bug report in Issue Council. I'm in the process of creating video that gives more detail for the purpose of awareness to the devs and players that are considering buying the Nomad.

    Yeah, the nomad does overheat, it did it to me back when Crusader atmo was at 150k, at least then I just powered down and fell back to Orison and invested on cooling, because I was new and had no idea the QT didn't need to be spooled until I was out of atmo or close to.

    User error, as a pirate who purposely shuts off people's ships by disabling their coolers you could have avoided this. You made zero attempt to check your components at all and completely decided against powercycling your ship lol
    That right there was just suicide from lack of information

    • @TritiumJones
      @TritiumJones 6 місяців тому

      For the power cycling, should he have allocated 100% to engines?

      @@TritiumJones That audio warning happens at 3 seconds and the ship shut down at 43 seconds, he had 40 seconds to do many different things
      1. Could have disabled QT drive (main issue causing the cooling issue)
      2. Double clicked his U key which would have reset all components to default (including his QT drive)
      3. Could have simply stopped his forward momentum and landed safely on the ground below him since he had 40 seconds foreknowledge his ship would shut off midair (he was only 6k meters up, but he kept flying forward instead of down)
      4. Pulled up his Power MFD to check the status of his components and disable anything other than QT if turning of QT alone doesn't fix it

    Known bug, AND they were recently selling the Nomad as a promotional starter pack. What better way to introduce new players to the joys of BUG CITIZEN than sell them something that cant even function in stock condition? Such an easy fix but CIG cannot even do that right.

      I helped one of my twitch viewers go from free flight newbie to purchasing their first ship, the Nomad, which I made the recommendation. I was unaware of the overheating bug and felt guilty when they experienced this bug. This prompted me to replicate the bug and contribute to feedback. I will be creating a follow up video on this.

      Easy to do, huh? You've never worked in the gaming industry, nothing g is ever easy. I once worked a driving game project that used 007 golden eyes AI code, 24 after it's release. We couldn't change anything about it because the whole project would collapse if we did. You have no idea what cascading effects can take place. This is most likely not just "an easy fix".

    • @mazack00
      @mazack00 6 місяців тому +3

      Not a bug, they left the QT drive on

    • @soldiernumberx8921
      @soldiernumberx8921 6 місяців тому

      That’s more because of complicating the code, you move one thing that can be connected to other things and so on. Coders usually try to make code as simple as possible but that takes time that devs don’t always get.

    • @ThomasD66
      @ThomasD66 6 місяців тому

      @@Adrian-km7jx LOL. Yeah, it is a super easy fix. Right now the in-game solution to the problem is to upgrade the cooler components to just about any "better" coolers. So all a dev would have to do is go in and edit the stock components of the ship to better ones. But I guess they dont teach common sense in game programming classes. Or at least not to everyone.
      No, that might not address the underlying issue (assuming it wasn't intended) but it would postpone the need for any further debugging until the time when they finally get around to properly implementing ship coolers. Because until they do on 99.5% of ships they are meaningless component.
