I had it once and my body’s natural instinct was to fall around they thought I was having a stroke so they tried to save me but it kept going then they went out to my mom and said I wasn’t going to make it but when I woke up they said it’s a miracle then I shouted “ ITS NOT A MIRACLE IDIOT I HAD ANESTHESIA AWARENESS YA IDIOT”

I experienced anesthesia awareness. I woke up mid surgery on my tonsils/adenoids. I felt every cut and burn. The worst part was when they pulled the tonsils out after slicing them. I started screaming in my head, begging them to stop. You could literally smell the burning skin as they cauterized the wounds. It was awful. Always talk to your anesthesiologist before a procedure. Even if you can’t control it you could try to prevent it.

My Grandfather died in a medical accident. He was having heart surgery and the doctor (who was a medical professinal) cut open a vital artiry. They tried to keep him alive, but there was nothing they could do. They put Him on life support but his brain was already dead, eventually His wife said to take him off life support because "He wouldn't want machines keeping him alive".

this video is really old, but for those of you coming back to watch this and are afraid of anesthesia awareness, please read this
I looked it up because I was so scared and in complete disbelief that you could actually wake up and were not only paralyzed but could feel immense pain and this is what I found out:
-only 1 out of 1000 people may wake up during general anesthesia
-a majority of those 1 in 1000 patients don't even wake up, they just have memories involving the surgery that they are able to recall (doctors voices, bright lights, etc.)
-there are three separate medications given to a patient under general anesthesia: medicine that makes you unconscious (sleep), medicine that relieves pain, and occasionally a muscle inhibitor (medicine that causes the paralysis), it is extremely rare that only one part of the medication would fail without the remaining two failing as well
-there are three major risk factors that cause anesthesia awareness: an inadequate amount of anesthesia, machine failure, or patient issues... I will describe these below
*FEEL FREE TO SKIP THIS LOWER PARAGRAPH IF YOU AREN'T INTERESTED IN THE DETAILS*
      1. inadequate amounts of anesthesia: some types of operations are known as "high-risk operations", these are usually emergency operations and sometimes the patient's bodies are unable to handle the proper amount of anesthesia (ex. emergency cardiac surgery, emergency c-sections, trauma surgery)
      2. machine failure: during surgery sometimes a machine may fail, but there are several fail-safes in place to protect you; i won't go into detail because it can get confusing but some of these fail-safes involve measurements constantly done by the machine itself, the anesthesiologist constantly performing measurements, and a lot of the times there is a brain scanner that will constantly measure your body's response to the anesthesia (bonus: remember how I said that if one part of the medicine fails, it is likely the rest will too? that's because you are given medication in the form of a gas connected to the anesthetizing machine, if that gas is unable to reach you all of the medicine will fail (SLOWLY) and the doctors will most likely realize something is wrong before you are even able to wake up and comprehend a problem
      3. patient issues: another major risk factor is the patient's previous tolerance to opioids (such as using recreational drugs like heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, fentanyl, or morphine often) if a patient's body is tolerant to an opioid, it will be less responsive to the anesthetizing medication
      *LIST CONTINUES NOW*
-if you experience awareness (remember it's a 1 in 1000 chance), it is often fleeting (meaning it comes and goes quickly)
-most patients who experience a severe level of awareness will usually experience a sense of pressure at the most
-you have a team of CRNAs (specialized nurses) that constantly monitor your vital signs (breath rate, heart rate, etc)
so yeah, anyone out there afraid of surgery because of anesthesia awareness, please don't be,
it is very rare to experience and even more rare to actually feel anything, remember to talk to your doctor and anesthesiologist before going into surgery so you can help them make the right choices for your body!
my sources are from various medical journals and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) website
(sorry for the essay!.... i hope this helps someone out there)

Not only did i feel the extreme pain from every dose of the anesthesia medication burning my veins, they forgot to tape my eyes shut so I was unable to open my eyes for days because sharp pieces of what I assume to be plastic were scratching my retinas. 2 months later my left eye is all a blur and my right eye has most vision restored but at random times I cant see anything.

My mom had anesthesia awareness when she had her C-section and she said it was the most horrible thing that had ever happened to her. she said she was fully awake but paralyzed, and at one point tried to crawl off the table but the doctors didn't notice and kept on. She said she bit her tongue so hard that it bled a lot, and she'd told the nurses after what had happened. The guy who put her under came into the room sobbing and apologized profusely and said this was only the second time in 30 years he hadn't gave a person enough to pass them out fully, he was really guilty. She's really tough for all she's gone through, Trying to push me ouit for nearly 24 hours, having awareness while doctors cut into her, breaking BOTH ankles and learning how to walk again after two months. For anyone reading this, give your mom a hug and tell her your love her!

there are also multiple incidents of doctors leaving rags inside of patients solely for the reason that they blend in with the blood and organs. It's possible that this happened with the rod, or that someone left it there, turned around and it slipped in and was so bloody that they just didn't notice it 🤷 it is very rare though

    • @HazelSageHP
      @HazelSageHP 5 років тому +10

I'm a veterinary student, so we do surgeries as well, and considering how easy it is to leave something inside a dog or cat, which are much smaller than humans, I'm not surprised it happens in people. Your body is bigger and fuller than you think, so things can definitely be hidden by what's inside of you. However, a surgeon should be keeping track of what instruments they used and recognizing if it's not on their instrument table so... I don't know, I guess I get how it happens, but the fact that it happens so frequently makes me angry! We have to perform sponge counts going in and out of surgery too, before we close, so I'd be surprised if surgeons didn't have to do something similar. In that case, the amount of sponges left in should certainly be going down.

(True story) My grandfathers friend needed bypass surgery, and they left a large sponge by his heart. He suffered in the hospital for 2 years from it. The doctor was later fired from his job for the incident. Long story short he died from the sponge and my grandfather went to testify on his behalf in court to sue the doctor for 6 million dollars. They didn’t win the case, and their medical bills weren’t excused. I strongly believe that the doctors do it for money and don’t care about their patients.

When I was in year 6 (I’m British 😂) we were learning about brains and at the end of the year a form went out to our parents for us to have an MRI scan just to see our brain 😂 they cancelled it because nobody wanted to go 🤷‍♀️😂🤣

My son was in the NICU for two weeks when he was born bc of a cord wrapped around his neck twice, the nurses knocked the IV out of his arm twice during this time, each time making his arm swell up like a balloon. I tried getting someone to fix it the first time for 30 mins and his nurse wouldn't listen, told me it was fine and he beeping from the machines that alerted a problem was NORMAL, turning it off every time. I ended up having a doctor from ANOTHER UNIT have to come fix it. Then it ended up having to put the IV in his fucking forehead to keep it out of the way. It still makes me cry to think about. Doctors are not miracle makers and are human who makes human mistakes...

Erin Music omg that is awful! My sister is a nurse in the NICU (at a large hospital where I live) and I couldn't possibly think that she or anyone she works with would just ignore your concerns or basically part of their job! Like who would spend all that money and time (like my sister did) to get a medical degree to only disregard what they've worked for. So sorry this happened to you, it is quite irritable when people just ignore something, that could be very serious

    Shane,
I’ve watched your videos for the past 5 years and I’ve probably seen all of the conspiracy videos youve made at least 3 times. No matter what you do I will always love you. Youve helped me through my worst times and I’ll be here during yours 🖤 I love you

ive been woken up during surgery and i felt everything. I saw myself open up, and prayed to Jesus. I closed my eyes and thought of my parents and Jesus caressing my hair. I still feel it to this day. It was a surgery on my FORESKIN

My favorite thing about these types of videos is when Shane makes a joke about it and then kinda looks around the room while laughing like "should I be laughing about this?"

    My hospital
    - Barely any crying, mostly in the waiting room
    - Smells really good, everything is sanitized.
    - Food is GREAT! They have a Jersey Jacks inside which has the best burritos ever.
    It's UNM ABQ, NM

Watching throw back videos for nostalgia when I’m sick…but anaesthesia awareness is the reason I am terrified of surgery. The idea of surgery causes me to spiral into full blown panic attack because of anaesthesia awareness 😰
