Hi clean the carburetor and the main jet and blew out all the passages on my Briggs & Stratton 16 1/2 horse tractor today. It runs perfectly now. I put up with that surging for years.. A guitar string...I'll get one..I've been using torch tip cleaners and sometimes a twist tie off a loaf of bread.. I'll try the guitar string thanks Cheers 🍻🍻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Just a tip, but it you take a standard bread twist tie and burn off the plastic coating with a lighter, it makes an excellent rod to use for cleaning orifices on a carb with. It is just the right size and can be used many times in the future.

About 6 yrs ago I bought a new riding mower. It looked just like the one in this video. I may have used it a total of 10 times. It had less than 25 hrs on it. Then someone set the house on fire. The fire got the living room an kitchen an part of the garage. About a year later I got to fooling around with the mower. All the wiring was burnt as well as the seat an steering wheel. So I got to fooling around with it, I took off all the wiring. The gas tank had melted, so I poured some gas down the carb. and jumped it off. And the thing started right up. I found another mower looked to be about the same thing, just not as in good of shape. It was all I could find at the time. Started swaping parts around and put together a half A** mower. It works but its nothing like what I had. But I am thankful for what I have. After I got the engine put onto the other mower I rebuilt the carb. changed the oil and air filters and for good measure put in a new plug. I use it last summer.
William Wynn I remember my dad bought a brand new one, a V twin about 18HP, it ended up being replaced with another after being stolen. He had about 1.5 acres on a slope and a remember a row of 1 gallon petrol cans by the gate when he was using it. My wife and I have much less money, we have about 1.5 acres on a slope too and I spent less than half as much as he did on an ancient Kubota B4200. Great video. I just replaced the carburetor with a brand new one on mine and am having this same issue. If it’s not the carb (assuming the new one is good), what should I look at? Brand new fuel and air filters too.
The main jet fell out of mine when I removed the pan. Wasn't positive that's where it went. I must have watched a hundred videos before I found this one. And they were no help at all. Your a life saver. Great video. Thanks

Great video, my tractor had an idle surge after sitting for a year. Rebuilt the carb and nothing really changed. After watching this video I realized the mistakes I made when I rebuilt it. Second time around after rebuild the tractor runs fantastic. Again thanks for the video.
I like how you said everything you needed to say and nothing extra, to much conversation can confuse the whole concept! Good job sir and thank you for your time. Peace ✌️
My lawnmower 16 1/2 Briggs & Stratton gets hot and does that surging. I just can’t picture how a Stone Age design carburetor that comes on a lawnmower works. I’m going to clean my carburetor tomorrow and hope this surging thing stops. Thanks for the good video, I would never have guessed that a dirty carburetor could cause surging, I thought it was the governor doing it, we will see
Nice video. I heard that some people didn’t like it. If it makes you feel any better I’m am an Emmy winner with several more nominations that messes with old lawn mower engines. It’s good work. Working with engines is so relaxing.
See, you get it. It takes me back to when I was a kid and my Dad and I would be tinkering with things. Now I do it with my kids. Breathing life back into any old machine is highly satisfying.
The anti backfire solenoid on the bottom of the carburetor does not stop fuel from going into the float bowl , the float needle seat is what controls the amount of fuel that is allowed into the float bowl, as the fuel level rises in the float bowl the float raises up to the point that it pushes the inlet needle seat up into the main fuel inlet and seals the inlet closed until the fuel in the float bowl is used some and as the fuel level drops in the float bowl so does the float which allows the needle seat to drop down enough to allow fuel to refill the float bowl until it is full and the process repeats itself over and over ! The anti backfire solenoid is controlled by the ignition switch when it is turned on 12 volts is sent to the coil inside the anti backfire solenoid which creates a magnetic field that pulls the pin downward on the anti backfire solenoid itself ( located up inside the carburetor ) this allows fuel to enter the main jet located in the center of the carburetor, when the ignition switch is turned off the magnetic field dissipates and the rubber plug on the end of the pin goes back up to contact the Bottom of the main jet sealing it off so fuel cannot go through the main jet as the engine idles down to a stop ,, if fuel goes in the main jet as engine idles down to a stop it will be sucked into the intake manifold and the fuel will ignite inside the combustion chamber making a loud pop as it does ! This happens when people discover the anti backfire solenoid is bad , bad coil inside , and they cut the pin off the plunger of the anti backfire solenoid, or when the pin gets stuck in the down position which would be ignition on position ( which is rare but does happen due to ethanol gummed up pins ) and the mower will crank and run but when shut off will backfire because of the solenoid valve being open not closing off the fuel to the main jet !
good to see someone here knows what that solenoid is for other than myself.....ive had countless arguements over its function in the carb.....ive lost count the number of these nikki carbs i have serviced/repaired over the years.....if you have a good look, the pin has already been cutoff in this video clip....and the main jet is positioned wrong (held with a spring)....so even IF the solenoid had its plunger button still attached, it wouldnt work anyways
My Gravely ZT-34 with B&S Intek was surging like this one - After watching this, spent an hour in the shed listening to Spotify and did exactly as you showed here. The only difference with my carb was that there was no air-fuel mixture screw like @2:48, otherwise it was identical. The air bleed @3:48 was partially clogged needed a fine wire and a few blasts of carb cleaner to dislodge the obstruction. After cleaning, put it back together and that engine was running smooth again. Thanks for a fantastic video with no rambling!
Ryan, thanks for your good video. My Briggs and Stratton 16HP engine with Nikki carb was surging under load after being stored over winter with fuel in the carb. A full carb strip found no visible debris, no sticky gum deposits or anything similar. But, to be sure, all jets, carb fuel holes and airways blown thro with WD40 followed by a good spray thro with carb cleaner. All reassembled and then engine run smoothly.
I bought a used Honda push mower almost 6 years ago from the furniture store I work at. Everytime I'm finished cutting, I shut off the fuel and let the mower run out of gas. Also use non- ethanol gas. Only paid $75 for it 6 years ago, run fine.
Great video, fixed my problem, same symptom you had. I found a partially blocked float seat. Great video explain it all without the nonsense. Thanks, From Australia
Mine was hydro locking my engine causing it to not turn over to start and thought it was not turning over due the battery and then starter. Lawnmower did not come with a fuel shutoff and I was always going to put one on it but just didn’t get to it. So bought a new carb off Amazon but going to get a Walbro I hear they are excellent on Briggs.
Thank you for this video, help me solve this irritating surging condition. Found what looks like carbon around the fuel mixture screw and the low speed jet, cleaned all orfice/holes with welder tip cleaning kit. Works like a charm. Took me three time though.
I found that a torch head cleaning tool works best for cleaning the holes. It have a lot different sizes and they are stiff.Cost about $3 or $4 dollars can get them at walmart.
This is a great video ....no long explanations, right to the point. the only problem is I am to worried putting the carb back together...... properly.....any suggestion in how to overcome this ? Thank you again!!!!!
Great video and good job with the instructions! straight to the point and easy to understand. For my two cents you don't need the background music. It can be distracting and uneasy to hear you around the music. Keep up the work.
I don't understand how anyone could complain about the music being distractive! It was at a very low level! But thanks for the video. I always have a hard time finding wires small enough to clean the orifices. The wire brush bristles are a great tip!,
Hi Ryan. Many thanks for a great video. A family friend asked for help with a surging Craftsman ride on mower. The fix went to your script - gunk in the carburettor bowl and jets. Running sweet now. Thanks again from Australia.
Hi Fentertainment, Thanks for this great video. Everyone is correct, you do a bang up job on explaining things. I do have a question though. The carburetor that you was working on in this video had a spring under the bowl. My riding mower has a 21hp Briggs & Stratton engine and the carburetor doesn't have a spring. My question is should it? I'm thinking someone may have been tinkering around with it at some point and removed it or is it that this model doesn't have a spring?
Great instructions! My engine was surging like yours. I cleaned the carb and even installed a new aftermarket carb, new spark plug, and fuel filter, but the surging continues. The adjustment screw made no difference. I have ordered a new OEM carb and hope the extra cost for an OEM will solve the problem.
update: after installing the OEM carburetor, the mower ran like new. By the way, the carb that I cleaned before ordering a new $20 carb was also a cheap aftermarket carb. It ran okay for a while. In hindsight, I should have just thoroughly cleaned the original OEM carb rather than replacing it with two aftermarket carbs. Lesson learned.
My 19.5hp Craftsman was surging. Went ahead and installed a new carburetor and fuel filter and it's still surging until I raise the rpm's. i'm baffled now.
Thanks I am a Carpenter not a mechanic when it comes to something as simple as taking the carburetor apart and putting it back on I hate it absolutely hate doing it but you make it seem so easy I guess I'll give it a shot thanks a lot for saving me some money$$$
On these engines, when the throttle control lever is pushed all the way 'full', there is a tab on the control mechanism that pushes on the end of that 'trombone' you described, which pushes on the choke control valve, and closes off the intake to restrict the air available from outside. This causes a lot of vacuum in the carb, which pulls in more fuel, creating a richer mixture, which helps start cold engines.
Thanks for the video. I did that and the orings were shot. I replaced and still have problems , even bought a new carb. same problem. new plug, new fuel pump, etc. maybe I have a burnt valve? idk? ideas? Thanks!
My mower sounds about like this so I followed these steps, great instructions I was able to clean it and put it back together but unfortunately my mower still sounds rough.
My mower does the same thing. I've been wondering why it does that. I have to run it just below the choke setting, anything else under, it surges and then shuts off. Thanks man.
I found that my old guitar strings work great for cleaning out those small holes and ports in carbs!. (You installed that fuel filter on backwards by the way)
Just got a new carb today. The new one does not have a fuel mixture adjustment screw, the place where it would be is solid metal. Hopefully that won't be an issue....
How do i test if the solenoid is functioning properly? I believe my LT2000 is flooding. I cleaned carb out, new plug, oil, fuel filter and it wont start. Just cranks and cranks with an occasional backfire and flame up out the carb
I can see you really know your stuff. I'm having problems with a B&s 14.5 i/c quiet OHV 287707-1279 E1. Flames came from exhaust after running about an hrs. Exhaust starts glowing hot. Clearly overheating. Black smoke on startup and black around exhaust holes. Runs up and down when under load. On a Dixon 3014 ztr. New air filter and spark plug, never had a gas filter. I didn't check spark plug gap before installing. With the excess heat, I'm thinking to much gas or not enough air, making Rich. No gas smell from exhaust however. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Maybe you could help me with this question, I got an old but in good shape craftsman 12 horse rider with a Briggs & Stratton engine, my governor has linkage with the tiny long spring that slides over the linkage to take out any slack, my engine is surging back-and-forth constantly, you can see the linkage and governor going back-and-forth back-and-forth, I took the carburetor off and totally cleaned it and rebuilt it with new nozzles and jets, also bought a brand new spring from Briggs & Stratton even though my original looked good, I put it all back together and the governor and linkage is still surging back-and-forth even with the new spring, if I hold the governor with my finger I can make it idle smoothly so I assume that’s telling me it’s not the carburetor right?, I can’t figure out why when I take my finger off that linkage and governor it is still bouncing back-and-forth causing it to surge , it’s the older one piece Flo-jet carburetor, any ideas? Thanks
If it is not the carburetor, check for spark at the spark plug, if the spark seems weak, take a steel tool and see if BOTH magnets on the flywheel attract the steel tool, I have had a couple of flywheels become faulty with age, where one magnet is good and the other bad, on push mowers that use same flywheel, swap and this will confirm the bad flywheel. I have had engines run poorly with a bad flywheel and others do not run.....
Are briggs and Stratton ride mower engine came with a bad gas cap which made it surge if you put it on to tight I drilled a hole through it and it ran perfectly after
Great video. Gave me the confidence to try my first carb cleaning. Almost all good. At 2:36 to 2:46 it shows the main jet inserted into the end of the fuel transfer tube. That wasn't right for me. I didn't note where mine was while disassembling it. First I knew about the main jet was it falling into the bowl I was working over. Anyway, I put it back like in this video. It didn't work, engine would just crank and crank. It didn't seem like the carb was drawing fuel from the bowl. Much confusion and frustration! A few other videos show it dropped down the tube from the gasket side. That worked for me. Engine started first time then! Maybe two very similar models?
Just realized this on mine too. I reassembled it as he did and mine just cranks now. Ordered a new carb but going to tear it back down tomorrow just to see if it changes
Mt B/ S 19.5 hp Craftsman mower sat up for 18 months and I had to replace the battery. It runs but not well. Popping not smooth. I use ethanol free fuel and Startron fuel additive. As a precaution drained the fuel tank and put new ethanol free fuel and Startron, I removed the float bowl and it was spotless. I buttoned it up , changed the fuel filter and cleaned the air filter and prefilter. It starts right up but is popping. Fore it sat up it ran fine. I I hope it will smooth out in time but can you offer any suggestions besides taking the carb off- a pita, could the solenoid be causing the popping, I assume it’s lean.
Mine was doing exactly the same thing surging. Suspected a carb problem so I bit the bullet and simply replaced it with a new one but that did not fix the problem. Any thoughts or ideas on what else might cause this exact type of surging? A friend of mine says there is some type of internal engine governor that uses a spring and once the spring wears out it will result in engine surging like this. Good video and by the way I’m curious if your fuel line remained on because you can clearly see in your video that the line was not completely and fully seated over the filter output nipple. Thanks.
Hey I bought a brand new carb because when I opened up the old carb the seat was a mess and it just kept filling the crankcase with fuel. I replaced the card with a new one and my mower started doing this. Guess I must have had crap in there somewhere Can't wait to open it up ang hopefully this will work. Thanks I subscribed
Before you open it up. I would suggest making sure the air/fuel mixture screw has been adjusted. Usually screw it in till it stops (dont tighten it). Then unscrew it out 1.5 turns. See if that helps it before taking it apart. Ive had to do that before with china carbs.
steel electric guitar strings typically are .009 up to .046 in 6 strings an dare about $6 a pack. Make several cleaner wires from each string (maybe 4-7 wires).... and the steel is very strong and flexible
So I have a Regent 14 that does this after a half hr.. it'll start back up and start all over again.. Possibly the coil.? Seems like if it cools down a bit it's fine but it will eventually do it again.
do you have a slower, more detailed video on rebuilding the carburetor? I need a step-by-step because I haven't done it before and that was excellent but a bit fast for me. If I had 1/4 of your talent, I would be thrilled! Thanks for the video...also, what do you think about using Lucas tune-up in a bottle-type stuff to clean it out if it isn't too bad or as a preventative?
I've got to ask, The gas filter in the vid, Is that a 40 micron clear filter? Is that the right one for that model? and I have a question about the Air Filter, The pre filter on that model, Does the sponge side go against the main filter or the mesh side goes against the main filter? Thanks
Hi great video but I do have a similar problem my craftsman turns over but doesn't continue running. I changed the carburetor and it still gives me that problem any suggestions would be great.
Mr.Fenters, got b&s 6.75,put carb. on,motor ran good but noticed fuel was running out the carb. venturi,so, removed carb.checked all passages then replaced carb.now motor surges, I'm like huh,hey n e idea what I might have done wrong?
enjoy the video , I have the same problem with 2 new carbs I got off Amozon the last one I got said it was compatible with my B&S 19hp after installing it I started it up with the choke full. ran beautiful no surging popping or backfire. rpm 2200 -2400, once I move it to mid-throttle the surging popping begins and it didn't matter where I put the throttle or the idle air screw in or out. the only time the engine ran smooth was when I closed the choke manually I say it was 3/4 close before it ran smooth. So this tell me I'm running lean and I probably need to drill my Idle jet out if possable. does this sound right to you? I did ck the valve lash and they are within specs. any advice?
Hey Ryan, my John Deere D105 is surging and I cleaned the carburetor as you described to no avail. I then replaced the carburetor to no avail. What else could possibly be causing the surging?
I've been trying to fix an lt1000 for weeks now. I tore the carb apart so many times, new spark plug correctly gapped, new filters, new fuel lines, new linkage spring, and the the thing still surged. I took apart the carb, again, and followed your video step by step, plus added some seafoam to the tank, and now it runs like new. I must've missed one small hole in the carb all these times, THANKYOU for saving my sanity. You earned a new subscriber.
I've got a 5 hp Briggs on a tiller. I was tilling up the garden and noticed something laying in the dirt. It was the breather tube. About the time I picked it up the motor shut off. I cleaned the tube, put it back on and now she wont run right, surging and cutting off. I've cleaned the carb, checked fuel lines, changed the spark plug, cleaned the gas tank and new gas. I just cant get it right! I'm trying to get a fall garden ready for a market garden and I'm running out of time. Please help!
My Craftsman DYT4000 is doing the exact same thing. Started all of a sudden. Never did it before. I did clean carb, but it's possible I missed a small jet passage somewhere. In your experience, with idle surging what's the most common culprits?
i have a lx 277 john deer aws with a kawasaki engine when i am mowing the engine seems to lose power when i have the blades engaged after awhile it seems to run ok
Does the main jet sit there? I have a 10.5 hp Briggs n Stratton with a similar carby. No Solenoid or spring on the main jet tho, and I thiink the main jet was inside the bowl plastic body
18hp Intek, replaced a blown head gasket and fixed valve seat. adjusted valve lash but not sure if i was at TDC. Engine starts right up but i get surging. I've had a surge for a while but once i engage blades, it used to run fine. It's really surging a lot now , could that be the valve lash? It's a 16 year old LT1000 Craftsmen, i have replaced the Nikki-6 once with a new one a while back but do you think i need to clean my carb out like your video shows or take valve cover off and check lash? , probably been 4 or 5 years when i replaced carb. thx man!
I have this same problem Motor Hunts Up & Down. I bought a brand new carburetor (twice) and it does the same thing. I shouldn't have to take apart because it's brand new. Do you have any idea's why this is happening? Thanks Bobby
I've had that issue with a carby on a Honda mower,it was surging & running rough at idle speed,it was car caused by a blocked Low speed jet orifice. I've had to remove the main jet & emulsion tube to clean that orifice out. I've had a Briggs & Stratton push mower engine do it at anything that's at 1/2 a tank or less,it has the tank mounted choke o matic carby on it. I tried cleaning the carby out but it still misfires at idle speed with 1/2 a tank of fuel so I think that I have an air leak coming from the vented fuel tank via the choke diaphragm vacuum chamber as the diaphragm is pulsed from the inlet tube side of the carby on the motor. They have no pump as such so since they haven't got a gravity fed fuel supply, the fuel is siphoned out by the engines own vacuum, it's a bit like sucking on a drinking straw when drinking. So,the diaphragm on mine needs replacing !!!!
Check your FUEL LINE for miniscule air leaks. They can be nearly impossible to detect and are usually in the area where the fuel line joins the carburetor. I found mine by accident when I happened to notice a tiny drop of fuel "hanging" off the fuel line. It evaporated before dripping (!). I sealed it off an the 'surging/hunting" went away.... no more running the engine with the choke half-on. :)

I'll try the guitar string thanks Cheers 🍻🍻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This the clearest explanation of the carb cleaning process I have seen.
Just a tip, but it you take a standard bread twist tie and burn off the plastic coating with a lighter, it makes an excellent rod to use for cleaning orifices on a carb with. It is just the right size and can be used many times in the future.

Wow, you’re so knowledgeable! Thanks for your help for everyone here!❤
good to see someone here knows what that solenoid is for other than myself.....ive had countless arguements over its function in the carb.....ive lost count the number of these nikki carbs i have serviced/repaired over the years.....if you have a good look, the pin has already been cutoff in this video clip....and the main jet is positioned wrong (held with a spring)....so even IF the solenoid had its plunger button still attached, it wouldnt work anyways
False
Straight up explanation. Good Job. Question for you? My briggs is tossing smoke back up into the air breather. Is the crankcase stuffed up???
You saved me a bunch of time and money. I had the solenoid go out and clogged carb at the same time. Thanks!!!!!
Thanks!
Thankyou for showing me how to fix my problem.
And thankyou for just getting right to it.
Other people are just too long winded.
Put a new carb on and surges, does it need disassembled and cleaned? Governor rod moves back and forth and surges. Thanks for the video
Thank you for this video, help me solve this irritating surging condition. Found what looks like carbon around the fuel mixture screw and the low speed jet, cleaned all orfice/holes with welder tip cleaning kit. Works like a charm. Took me three time though.
I”m on my 2nd time. Evens out at high speed, but surges at low and medium. Getting there.
Take pictures with your phone before you remove every next piece. Then once you are done, repeat the process in reverse.
Great video and good job with the instructions! straight to the point and easy to understand. For my two cents you don't need the background music. It can be distracting and uneasy to hear you around the music. Keep up the work.
Appreciate the comment, Others have told me the same and I will definitely take that into consideration.
I don't understand how anyone could complain about the music being distractive! It was at a very low level! But thanks for the video. I always have a hard time finding wires small enough to clean the orifices. The wire brush bristles are a great tip!,
@@Fentertainment I like the music brother. Keep it YOUR STYLE man 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Hi Ryan. Many thanks for a great video. A family friend asked for help with a surging Craftsman ride on mower. The fix went to your script - gunk in the carburettor bowl and jets. Running sweet now. Thanks again from Australia.
Australia? Wow, Always loved to visit there. That is awesome to hear and I appreciate you stopping by and letting us know.
That is a VERY well balanced engine. Hardly any vibration at all!
Thanks
Hi Fentertainment, Thanks for this great video. Everyone is correct, you do a bang up job on explaining things. I do have a question though. The carburetor that you was working on in this video had a spring under the bowl. My riding mower has a 21hp Briggs & Stratton engine and the carburetor doesn't have a spring. My question is should it? I'm thinking someone may have been tinkering around with it at some point and removed it or is it that this model doesn't have a spring?
My 19.5 didn’t have spring either
@@harvey8695 do you recall where you got your OEM carb? Is it Briggs?
Great short, concise and to the point instructions. Excellent! Thank you.
Nice video, but my Briggs engine is a little different. Could the problem also be caused by a deteriorated seat for the needle in the float?
this video was very informative i did everything in it and now my lawnmower runs perfect thanks for the help
My 19.5hp Craftsman was surging. Went ahead and installed a new carburetor and fuel filter and it's still surging until I raise the rpm's. i'm baffled now.
Thanks
I am a Carpenter not a mechanic when it comes to something as simple as taking the carburetor apart and putting it back on I hate it absolutely hate doing it but you make it seem so easy I guess I'll give it a shot thanks a lot for saving me some money$$$
1:35 Great video!
On the choke mechanism, what is the purpose of the "trombone-shaped" wire that slides above the throttle mechanism?
Thanks!
that pushs the choke on
On these engines, when the throttle control lever is pushed all the way 'full', there is a tab on the control mechanism that pushes on the end of that 'trombone' you described, which pushes on the choke control valve, and closes off the intake to restrict the air available from outside. This causes a lot of vacuum in the carb, which pulls in more fuel, creating a richer mixture, which helps start cold engines.
Very informative got a lawn mower and a Tiller doing the same thing thank you very much for the info
Thanks for the video. I did that and the orings were shot. I replaced and still have problems , even bought a new carb. same problem. new plug, new fuel pump, etc. maybe I have a burnt valve? idk? ideas? Thanks!
Very good tutorial, will be doing this to my Craftsman 18 HP tractor. Thanks for the upload.
Is checking the air/fuel mixture screw not acceptable before removal and cleaning?
My mower sounds about like this so I followed these steps, great instructions I was able to clean it and put it back together but unfortunately my mower still sounds rough.
I really liked the way you presented this all the way down to wrench size. Great job.
That surge sounds exactly like my JD D110. Thanks for the video!
I dont have a video to fix this but look up on youtube adjusting OHV valves on Briggs Engine.
Thanks
Really clear thanks gotta be careful with all those little parts
I know that works sometimes and I've rebuilt them over and over and I've even put new carbs on still surges what is one to do after all that mess
Are briggs and Stratton ride mower engine came with a bad gas cap which made it surge if you put it on to tight I drilled a hole through it and it ran perfectly after
Hi Ryan just wondering is it normal to only have a quarter of the fuel filter full of fuel ? thanks
Great video. Thanks a million. Saved my a couple hundred bucks
Get yourself a torch tip cleaner you'll be glad you did. Great vid.
@@kevinhendley8524 good luck. sure there is magic involved somewhere too! persistence got mine going.
@@juststuff5640 yeah it didn’t run ever after moving the jet. Ended up with a $16 Amazon replacement and it runs better then new
Mt B/ S 19.5 hp Craftsman mower sat up for 18 months and I had to replace the battery. I I hope it will smooth out in time but can you offer any suggestions besides taking the carb off- a pita, could the solenoid be causing the popping, I assume it’s lean.
nice.
i like to just add some cleaner to the fuel like berryman's and run it awhile. then if it does not clear up i tie into the carb.
Guess I must have had crap in there somewhere
Can't wait to open it up ang hopefully this will work.
Thanks

Before opening up the carb, clean the outside well.
do you have a slower, more detailed video on rebuilding the carburetor? I need a step-by-step because I haven't done it before and that was excellent but a bit fast for me. If I had 1/4 of your talent, I would be thrilled! Thanks for the video...also, what do you think about using Lucas tune-up in a bottle-type stuff to clean it out if it isn't too bad or as a preventative?
good video. no time consuming jabber and lots of helpful information
I like the music and Shazam found it. Airstream Trailer by Walter Cianciusi. Will buy it.
I've got to ask, The gas filter in the vid, Is that a 40 micron clear filter? Is that the right one for that model? and I have a question about the Air Filter, The pre filter on that model, Does the sponge side go against the main filter or the mesh side goes against the main filter? Thanks
great video if you slow it down to 50% speed, he goes 90 mph at the critical point of removing the bowl float etc
I mean.. I dont see an issue. Straight forward. Pause and write if you're slow!
Hi great video but I do have a similar problem my craftsman turns over but doesn't continue running. I changed the carburetor and it still gives me that problem any suggestions would be great.
What about the thing on top of the carb with the pgillips screw and spring
Thank you so much 💓. Your tutorial is very useful. You are a great teacher.
I noticed your fuel filter is facing the opposite was as mine is. Is mine in backwards or is there no right or wrong way ?
nice vid dude.
hey any idea why the crankcase breather tube keeps blowin off my carb?
Thanks Bobby
the pilot jet is the main cause as ive found out previously. but if you gave cleaned holes and jets the youve done the job
If the gas pick-up tube is brass, it could be cracked vertically. I've seen that occur 3 or 4 times over the past 42 years. Hard to see the crack.
The idle speed and the air mixture bolt is 1 1/2 turn out?
A welding tip cleaner also works for cleaning the orifices and small air bleed passage ways.
to tight valve lash setting will cause surging as well.... seafoam will usually clear carb. IF used properly.....
Looks like my try to fix same carb issue needs to be revisited. Thanks for the video.
I had to push my main jet down to let it fall out the tube, so does it matter if the main jet is upside down from yours?
