    You are one of the best guitar teachers on UA-cam or anywhere for that matter. One of the things that make you so good is not just the fact your material is so good but after watching one of your lessons for just a few minutes it makes you want to go straight to your guitar and start practicing. Thanks for everything.

    This is great, thanks!
    A blues player by the name of Skip James used to play in this tuning often. He called it Cross Note Tuning. He did a bunch of great songs all in this: "Hard Time on the Killing Floor" "Devil Got My Woman" "Cypress Groove Blues" I think the majority of his music was in Open Dm (aka Cross Note Tuning)

      Tom Feldman has several lessons on Skip James. The DVD is worth it! His rendition of 4 o clock blues is excellent.

    So I started playing with this tuning since your last video and had a blast. It's so fun to experiment with this tuning.
    Found a great sound on [050400] and just play around there.

    Pato no tucupi.

    I'm a subscriber and I have been watching you and the puppies for years. I just wish you'd get back to doing what got you here in the first place and that is providing instruction and TABS of your arrangement of classic, well known, popular songs. IMHO only a small percentage of subscribers care about open DM or drop D tunings etc.. A lot of us would prefer you continue to do things like your version of Dream a Little Dream, or Besame Mucho, or so many others that you have done that have brought so much happiness to us subscribers. Obviously it's your channel and you can do as you please but I'm just expressing how I feel about it. You're still a wonder and appreciated.

      I guess I'm in the minority then. I really like the "theory and skills" style lessons. I love the songs he teaches as well but as the old saying goes "give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime."
      He's basically teaching everything we need to know to create our own music not just copy someone else. He's a true teacher and I ask him to not change a thing.

    • @rumbleseat1
      @rumbleseat1 5 років тому

      @@drsimmons74 You may be right and I may be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. However, from my life experience of playing guitar since about 1962, I can't recall a time I jammed with someone, or listened to someone playing in any open or drop tuning. Sure, it might be interesting to know about and fun to fool around with, but I'm not sure how practical or utilized it would be. You're right about him being a good teacher. You can tell he loves to pass on the knowledge

      If he would play known songs whoever wrote the songs will get money for it I believe they call that demonitizing UA-cam videos.
      I would think if he's teaching you a song that is written by someone else he's not getting paid by UA-cam. If enough people become Patreon he could get paid that way. I have no clue that is the reason or not it's just a thought this will take just as much time to make but he gets to keep the proceeds. Which is not all that much money anyways.

    • @rumbleseat1
      @rumbleseat1 5 років тому

      @@tondebruijn5424 I'm no expert on the copyright laws on songs but I do know some are public domain and some aren't. I was sending him money long before he started with Patreon as did many others and although I'm not positive, I'd bet he was getting UA-cam money as well. He deserves getting it from both.
