Yes, that is Aaron Lewis, who sang "Am I The Only One?". This is where he started. No addiction involved, but this song 100% reminds me of when my husband and I separated years ago in our 20s. I cried to this song every day for months. We reconciled, we had three more children, then he passed away at only 45. This song now reminds me love can fix anything, except death. 😥😥
I'm sorry you lost your hubby that way. Hope you're doing ok
Oh, I am right there with you! My 1st marriage ended YEARS before this came but I still had it on repeat thinking about him. We never got back together, but we became best friends. He passed in 2019 at age 48. I miss him every single day. 💔
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@HollerMa71 Sorry for your loss.
Love Aaron Lewis! Staind has sooo many great songs. “Outside” and “Something to Remind You” great songs! ❤
Definitely something to remind you
The live at the Mohegan Sun is the best version for sure! ❤ Aaron is an absolute legend of a voice!
Something to Remind You is absolute GOLD….
I had a friend die in a house fire in 2001. This song always reminded me of him. I went to visit his grave one day & this song started playing as soon as I parked my car! Like a little "Hello! I'm still with you!" nod from heaven.
Being the new father, you would undoubtedly love "Zoey Jane"
Awesome! Layne is another great one about Layne Staley of Alice In Chains. So many great tunes. I really love the first album, it was brutal and raw. Dysfunction.
I second this!
"just make this go away, just one more peaceful day" and I'm crying again. Then "I cannot blame this on my father, he did the best he could for me"...
Those lyrics hit hard
“Outside” highly recommend 10/10.
The singer is Aaron Lewis, and since 2010 or so, he has been a country artist. You reacted to Am I The Only One? Country Boy and Granddaddy's Gun are worth reacting to as well. Another powerful Staind song is Outside.
Yes they are all good songs too had no idea it was the same person
You mean he has also been a country artist since then... staind just went on tour in April/may and now he's back solo touring... staind never quit
He also did a pro American song called Let’s go fishin!
I didn't know he was a country singer, that's cool
Check Lyrical joe and thank me later @@karlweir3198
Staind is one of my favorite bands of all time. This was their break out hit but my favorite song of theirs is Something to Remind You. Makes my heart break every time.
I love when you started putting things together "Wait a minute. It seems like I reacted to an older version of him. Maybe a pro American song??" Oh, I love it ❤
Ah not heard this for ages. Love this band
It's been awhile since I heard this song!! Lol
Aaron Lewis is an amazing songwriter and voice of the 90s progressive rock. The Family Values Tour with Korn, Limp Bizkit, Staind, Ice Cube, Filter, Redman and Methid Man, Incubus. Such a great tour. Aaron’s duet with Fred Durst for Outside was epic.
That tour was epic! The 90s were the best 😊
@@zcsapo2125 I got to see them in Tulsa Oklahoma at a music festival they used to have every year called Edgefest during the first tour it was epic!
5:40 That voice was popularized by Grunge music in the early 90's. (Pearl jam, Nirvana, sound garden).
You're absolutely right, there was a late 90's new wave of alternative rock, that attempted to mimick that same vocal sound.
It's referred to as "Marble mouth" singing. they call it that because the technique requires you to, instead of opening your mouth and projecting outward, like more traditional singing.
Instead you widen the inside of your mouth (like your filling your mouth with marbles), and project it internally, which creates this deeper soundbox vibrado like sound.
i personally call it shower singing. Because it sounds like when you sing in a small space like a bathroom. I kind of miss this style of singing, it has a lot of soul in it.
the song "something to remind you" by staind is another really amazing song
Arron Lewis! From Massachusetts where I live. Drove by his house multiple times including Tom Brady’s house when he lived in Massachusetts.
We call that stalking hahahaha just kidding.
Well they lived 100 miles away from each other so you must be a real traveler
@@docjohnson1 Or dedicated stalker. hahahahaha See what happens when you try to comment on anything on the internet??? I'm sorry hahahahaha just kidding around.
Ahhh, a Masshole. JK, I'm a reformed Masshole myself.
Matchbox 20 was another good band back in those days. “3 AM” is probably my fav. Rob Thomas wrote the song for his mom when she was battling cancer. They have a Greatest Hits that’s amazing. I don’t see very many people reacting to them which is odd. But anyway much love❤️
This is one of my most favorite bands of all time. Love Aaron Lewis voice.🔥🔥🔥
Me too. I’m going to see them again in September.
I'm 70 now, and was listening to different sub-genres of alternative music with my teenaged sons in the 1990s. I fell in love with these sounds that were so unique and innovative to my ears. This music - along with many styles of jazz - became my two "strong favorite" styles of music. (Still love swing and Big Band, Doo wop, and the '60s rock I grew up on, too!) You have sooo much to delve into! This was a great reaction. 🙂
Aaron Lewis and Fred Durst sang the song "Outside". Now he performs country music but has gotten back together with Staind for a tour.
"still remember just the way you taste" luv that lyric
Dude yah, he didn't react to that line at all😮
Well now I'm super excited to see you react to more StainD. Glad you enjoyed the song!
I couldn't relate when this first came out. Like you then I had a great family life and near fairytale marriage. My wife passed 3 years ago next week and I haven't adapted well. I now feel this song to my core. As Always thank you for your sincere and honest reactions!
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's very tough. (Lost the person dearest to me over 10 years ago. I still can never speak of it...)
Sincere condolences on the loss of your wife.
I get how you are affected differently. Blessings.
Most profound condolences.
My heart breaks for you. Sending all the good vibes I can, for whatever they're worth.
Aaron Lewis is amazing. his catalog with Staind is incredible. He's a great writer
Aaron Lewis is an incredible artist on his own ... has that ability to personify emotion much like Chris Stapleton and it projects loud and clear in everything he sings...
Stained is a whole other level tho and they xame together at a point in my life much needed...
Aaron has a video out that includes the back story for their song called 'Outside' that is absolutely epic!!
Aaron also has a tribute to Chester (they were good friends) covering 'Crawling' that is the ultimate example of the emotion he brings to life 🫶🫶🫶
Staind
One of my favs. My youngest son turned me on to Staind in 2001. I turned him on to the Doors in the 90's.
Excellent reaction. I'm glad that you keep it real and not just blowing smoke. Keep up the good work.
Had the privilege of seeing Staind open for STP. Can you imagine that show? Yes, it was that good.
"and it's been awhile since I've gone and F'ed things up, just like I always do..." How'z that for some self-reflection and total honesty?
Dude, Stained is amazing. Deep lyrics
I had no idea who sang this but I do love it, but it's been awhile since I heard it so thanks ❤❤
I agree - excellent song when in that kind of mood. I have a playlist of a huge mixture of moods and genres that I put on random play during long road trips. They make the favorites but I will just skip past them if not in the mood while driving down the road. Sometimes songs like this will just allow my mind to wander and help boring parts of the trip go by faster as well.
Totally from the Grunge Rock era.. not specifically from the Seattle Grunge Rock scene.. but that scene definitely influenced the 90's and earlier millennium rock scene for sure.. and it seeped through to soooooooo many rock artists of that time. I mean I remember that sound coming from many UK and Canadian bands of that time as well. Like for the UK ... Radiohead.. Bush X.. Garbage.. etc.. and then Candian bands.. like... Moist .. Limblifter.. Matthew Good Band.. Nickleback.. The Tea Party.. With each of these bands... in different ways .. you can definitely here a common thread of sound with the instrumentation or vocals that was moving through the music scene around the world at that time. I personally love it. I am also hugely in love with all of the pop punk that was born out of this era. Anyways.... ...... ....... Love to see you checking out this genre of music. Cheers from Canada... 🍁
Staind was one of my favorite bands growing up. So many good songs.
I highly recommend reacting to the Staind song Outside and know that Aaron Lewis literally made the lyrics to the verses up live on stage during the concert that first got them noticed. Fred Durst put them on their first major concert when he had Staind open for Limp Bizkit. Aaron Lewis had written the lyrics already for the chorus of Outside but hadn't written the verses. Fred Durst had heard the chorus and liked it so he told Aaron Lewis that if Staind performed that song then Durst would come out and sing on the chorus with him. So during their biggest break to date Aaron Lewis gets on stage and makes the lyrics up to the verses of Outside in real time as they are performing the song. There's a video with Lewis telling this story and talking about how you can see his nerves if you watch recordings from Outside being performed for the first time. This version made up on the spot is the same version that ended up being recorded. This is one of the most wild and impressive stories I've heard of a songs origins.
This song always gives me goosebumps!
I agree with you that certain music fits where you are in life.
I loved this band and miss them. This entire album is ❤️🔥 and got me through a really difficult time.
I loved Staind. Break the Cycle got me through so much. Great reaction ❤
Some other great Stained songs are:
"Mudshovel"
"Outside"
"Suffocate"
"Can´t believe"
Mudshovel is one of my favorites
Listen to some of Staind earlier songs... Crawl and Mudshovel !!
Mudshovel is my favorite! That's how I deal with my exhusbands bullshit. I call it my angry music!
@@kellymckinney9050 exactly!!!! I have seen Staind several times in concert and they are awesome !!
One of my favorite bands and songs. I love his voice so much! Good choice.
Have a good evening Blessed Be 😊❤
Been a fan of Staind since they came out. My favorite band Godsmack which I've see tons of times last year had staind as opening act!! Was awesome. I also saw Arron Lewis on his solo tour at a casino venue. Almost more of a country concert but he did some staind songs (all acoustic) and it was great too.
Whether nu metal, grunge, alt metal or what, this is a great song that is heavy on brooding. Some things in life just inspire that.
Dude, check out a band called Collective Soul...
Shine
December
Where the River Flows
The World I Know
Smashing Young Man
The line “I cannot blame this on my father” has always resonated with me. I was closer with my Mom growing up. They worked their asses off. Dad worked 10 hours a day on the railroad and Mom had a beauty shop attached to the house. This song, and some of POD, made me want to be a better father.
Dead on with time frame, and it absolutely got a lot of us through a bunch of sh*t. Aaron (Lewis) really had a unique sound that is so very much a trademark of staind. There are a lot of heavy topics throughout his time as the frontman for staind and how he describes his perspective just felt really raw (that’s the best way i can remember how I felt when I first heard their music). His country stuff is really good as well and he does really cool acoustic sets as well
The lead singer, Aaron Lewis, has a song named "Country Boy" that more people need to hear, especially today.
I really enjoy when bands and writers put their "shite" in the street for all of us to hear and reflect
This song is back from 2001 when Aaron Lewis was with the band "Staind". Since then, Aaron Lewis has become a solo act...sometimes with a few artists for a show. You played one of his solo songs about 4 months ago...that's why he looks familiar.
Even after all these years, this song still gives me chills
Since the 90's I've always heard "It's been a while...since I've spilit my drink on my keyboard" ...
When you scrolled past 'The Verve' Bitter Sweet Symphony and said .. I don't recognize that .. part of me died ... you have to go watch it.
I LOVE Staind's songs 'Outside' and 'Mudshovel' as well.🔥
Candlebox , Shinedown. Also great.
It was a nice surprise that you reacted to Staind. Very cool!
Been a while since I've caught this one 👍
Love this song. Sang it at karaoke a few times.
I love Staind, Aaron Lewis and this song. One of my favorites for sure!!
He is such a great singer. My favorite is when I'm gone live
Love Aaron's voice. So clear, clean, precise and that tone!
Another really crazy song from that time period is from a band called crash test dummies, The name is literally mmm mmm mmm mmm. It has over 43 million views and I don't know it's something different I think you would like it.
It's been a while... since I heard this here song... it's been a while!
Couldn't resist. I'll see myself out 😝
My husband went to see Aaron Lewis in a small venue last year. He just sat on stage with his guitar and cigarettes and sang his songs. It was a great intimate show but he told stories about how he wrote this song on the fly and sang it at a concert because they need an additional song.
Stain’d has a lot of awesome songs. Aaron Lewis also has a lot of cool country songs in his solo career
Yes sir that is Aaron Lewis you reacted to his song before one of his solo tracks
Oh snap, that’s crazy!!!!
@@BlackPegasusRaps yea you should check out Aaron Lewis’s song country boy i think you will like it a lot
@@BlackPegasusRaps hey bro love your reactions by the way the only reactor I have a membership to

"I cannot blame this on my father, he did the best he could for me."
gets me every time.
I know what you mean, my dad and I had a strained relationship for a long time and we're only just now starting to understand one another now that he's an old man with not long left.
I guess I kinda wish I had invested time in my family before now.
@@Wearywastrel my dad died about 10 yrs ago. The relationships we want with someone are rarely the ones we get to have. Especially if you're the younger.
Staind - Something To Remind You (Live) at Mohegan Sun Arena
Love this song haven't heard this in years awesome song ❤
It's kinda crazy but whenever I hear this song i want to drink more - instead of visa versa. However, I have LOVED this song for many years!!
Me too. I usually don't drink to escape I drink to feel. And these kinds of songs are perfect in wallowing in self hatred 😂
Music genres are so varied, and rarely can one band be described as any single one, but Staind, Puddle of Mudd, Breaking Benjamin, Three Doors Down, Creed, Nickelback, Shinedown... as Post-Grunge/Hard Rock/Alternative Rock.
I always recommend Breaking Benjamin.
Ya gotta check out “Outside”. Another banger
Yea, I feel the same way about this song. I'm getting over a guy that was on drugs (meth) and makes me think of how he might feel one day but I'm moving past it so it's nice to hear it but def not on repeat.
YES! This is from the era commonly called, Post-Grunge. 👍🏽😁😎
Yea it's the same singer. He went country later on. I miss him in Staind. He was so much more relatable for me back in the day. I miss him
He's still with Staind they just did a huge tour after dropping a full new album and they are still phenomenal ❤
Didn't know that.
Difference is that Staind had some really hardcore stuff that put them in a different category than the pop stuff. Like Sevendust, they did things to make money in the mainstream, but also had some insanely heavy songs/albums.
Love Staind, love Aaron Lewis, Love the album, Break the Cycle ❤
I enjoyed this so much that im back for a 2nd listen. Cheers & Peace Out ✌️
One of my faves from this time period
"Outside", "Excess Baggage", "Could It Be", "Epiphany", "Zoe Jane", "So Far Away" are my recommendations.
As a dad, "Zoe Jane" is probably a must listen. Probably more relatable.
I had my personal "Killing me softly" moment with Aaron Lewis back in 2002 when I saw him with Staind. When he sang a certain song it really was like he took the words from my diary. I was able to meet him after the show and we talked a while. A true humble man, extremely nice, also a bit shy. He is one of the reasons I named my son Aaron (haven't named him after Aaron Lewis, but after meeting a couple of Aarons in my life, who've all been great guys, incl. Aaron Lewis, but mainly my husband and I just like the name). Sadly, Aaron Lewis went down a kinda dark path, from mildy conservative to straight up far right. I still like his music and some of his newer songs, however, I cannot connect this radical politcal angenda with the kind and humble man I've met. Well, people can change, I guess.
Staind was kinda born in the grunge rock era. They have many good sons! Singer is Aaron Lewis currently doing more country. Other songs by Stained - Mudshovel - Something To Remind You - It’s been a while … lots of really good music!!
I ran to watch this reaction! One of my favorite bands, just saw them last summer and Aaron Lewis still has it.
This song and Uncle Kracker’s “Follow Me” and “In a Little While” got me through my first divorce. I was devastated how she ended it for another dude. This was SURVIVAL music for me. You should check out Kracker too. Kid Rocks protege.
His live shows go hard.. listen to some recent ones and he actually has some great growls.
We saw Aaron Lewis in concert here last December and he still Rocks! Highly recommend him! 🤗 🇺🇲
Days of the new have a similar sound from the same era
Outside by staind is my favorite song by them.
@ 6:34 Agreed. Powerful delivery of a powerful message.
I was a huge fan in the 90's of Staind.
I remember seeing Staind open for Korn in Little Rock, AR back in early 2000s when Staind was first coming out. Mudshovel was my Intro to them. Check that one out.
Cracking song, always in my playlist.
You should definitely check out more from Staind. They really don't miss on much. I would recommend "Outside," as well as "Right Here" to get you started
I have to recommend "Something to Remind You" live by Staind. It's a powerful performance.
You mentioned this specific sound…next to 80’s music this type is my favorite! Another group with a similar sound is Fuel. I highly recommend “Hemorrhage”
Also “Lightning Strikes” by Live
This song always give me goosebumps too
This song has always been a banger!🔥❤️🔥
I had an album called buzz ballads 1 and 2 that had all this kind of music on it. It is one of my favorite for this kind of music.
I love this song ,it was my Brother In-laws song, we played it at his funeral,he was in a work accident and died😢
You mentioned Nickelback..."Never Again", "Far Away" or "Never Gonna Be Alone" are great songs & the last 2 have amazing videos!
Think I’m going to go and re listen to this album, it’s bangers all the way
Definitely been a while since I've heard this one, still holds up well. 👍
its 2000 Rock Era, You have Theory of a Deadman, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Rev Theory, Creed, Shinedown, Seether, and so on, the list can keep going on tbh. A lot of these bands have a certain Twang in their production, it has essence of country, backing up with rock elements. You also had Mudvayne/Hellyeah - Chad Grey which had that production sound as well which is a heavier version of that. Also 2000 has alot of Distortion which was a big part of 2000's Sound.
