I saw Shinedown in 2005 at a single day festival in Texas in the summer. no shade except in the bathrooms that had no ac. they ran out of water. This mfk'er single handedly sang life back into a crowd that was just trying to not melt or spontaneously combust from the heat. before that, I knew what a front man was supposed to be in theory, but this dudes singling chops, along with his ability to Rizz the crowd, he made me understand. One of my favourite Lynyrd Skynyrd songs. The man singing has a voice that would shatter glass!!! Beautiful and so full of heart and soul. Fantastic cover of a beautiful song. Thank for this reaction.
You really need to do the original to this song. But Shinedown did such a wonderful job covering this. As said before, they have a vast catelog. They were amazing in concert, thanks again!
After Lynyrd Skynyrd bandmate’s Ronnie Van Zant’s grandmother and Gary Rossington’s mother died, they were reminiscing and sharing stories. Gary came up with a chord progression, Ronnie wrote the lyrics based on advice the women had given them over the years. They wrote the song in about an hour. That’s Ronnie Van Zant’s granddaughter holding his picture in the video. His daughter was married to the one of the guitarist’s at the time.
@At-tele-gra.m_MrBlackPegasus I’m not sure if you’ve reacted to any of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s music yet. They are a Southern Rock band formed in the ‘70’s. Most famous songs are Freebird, Sweet Home Alabama, Call Me The Breeze, Simple Man, Gimme Three Steps. The song That Smell, “ the smell of death surrounds you”, was a warning to the band about their drug use. It would take on a different meaning when three days after the song’s release, on October 20, 1977, the bands plane would crash killing Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and backup singer Cassie Gaines and seriously injuring the rest of the band. Ronnie’s brother, Johnny, reformed the band in 1985 with the remaining members. The last founding member, Gary Rossington, died in 2023 while they were recording the bands 15th album.
This is a Lynaryd Skynaryd(70's) cover and it's phenomenal. They are incredible live. Ronnie Van Sant's (Lynaryd Skynaryd) daughter was married to a Shinedown member.
The sensation you’re looking to describe is called “contentment.” You can have all the money, the nicest cars, and eat the finest food. But without contentment and being present in the blessings of the moment, these things are transient, and will leave you ultimately unsatisfied and wanting more. Whereas something as simple as a hug from your daughter is complete in itself, and provides the ultimate satisfaction of contentment.
I had an NDE. As a child and my consciousness didn’t end . I had no senses , just thought . What I felt was contentment . Then with a whoosh after a while I was in burning pain and mad . Like someone that was forced awake and presented it . I stopped being afraid of the dark though . I was like 8

This was a fantastic reaction to a band that has saved my life more than once. Just a little background info on Shinedown, they have been around since 2001. They are from Jacksonville Florida and the lead singers name is Brent Smith. I really recommend their first 3 albums Leave A Whisper, Us & Them and The Sound Of Madness. From the vocals, to the writing ,to actual music itself. They are incredibly masterful.

When I was growing up in the 80s, we didn’t have all this technology. Things were simple and guess what we didn’t have a care in the world. We were happy I wouldn’t trade my life for this new generation today because they got the entire world looking at them, and on their shoulders, and every little thing they do will decide their future that’s crazy
Shinedown is mindblowing live. Saw them 2 yrs ago and Brent Smith (lead singer) gives everything he is from start to finish. If you get a chance to see them, go for it. It's worth every cent.
I think there is absoulutely no war on simple living.. there is pushback against people thinking they about that while complicating their life obsessing over others and THEIR choices. Great song.
They do. And they’ve crossed over different platforms and broke records. With monsters you need to watch get up first to understand the video but monsters is a better song 👌🏻

This song was written and performed by "Lynyrd Skynyrd" Ronnie Van Zant was the lead singer. This was about him and his mom. I don't know who this person is, but when Ronnie sings it, he sings it with his heart, with feeling. Please play it with Lynyrd Skynyrd singing it
I love Shinedown! My buddy was friends with the lead singer before they blew up, and said he was a real cool down-to-earth guy. You got to do second chance, sound of madness, and save me! Too many bangers to list
BlackPegasus. You see now. Me and Chelsea been banging our heads together to get you to these guys. Like Chelsea said sooooo many songs to explore 21 years worth and number 1’s across so many billboards they broke records. I know this is a cover but Shinedown do write all their own stuff. I think you’ll love boom lay boom. Sly asked them to soundtrack Expandables. God I could geek out on them all day. THANK YOU BP ❤
I saw Shinedown in person in 2014 and his vocals are exactly like this. I heard this song at that concert & it was spot on. His voice is so powerful. I am from the 70’s and loved, still love Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Lynyrd Skynyrd original is beautiful. In my opinion this version showcases his vocals and Lynyrd Skynard’s original showcased guitar & the lyrics. Both Shinedown & Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Simple Man are in my playlist.
Im literally BEGGING YOU to go down this rabbit hole! They have so many great songs! Sound of Madness, Second Chance, 45, Monsters, Call Me, Cut the Cord, I'll Follow You...I could go on forever. Brent Smith is Incredible.
I saw them in concert w/breaking benjamin and Nothing More (met them!) and it was so amazing! They are what I would call...very aware...and also brought the whole audience together...it was truly an amazing performance. I was kind've into them before then but after that, I was a fan for life!
Original song by Lynyrd Skynyrd but oh man Brent from Shinedown ( lead singer ) is still this great - he sang with oliver Anthony at a festival last couple of yrs - I think it was held in NC - his voice is still amazing amazing 😢💚💚 Brent doesn’t have hair like that now but the voice is still amazing but no Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote it- special song between me and my brother / This song led my brother to become a southern rock drum player ( self taught ) and singer but he unfortunately passed in a car accident in 1991 at age 24 ( my only sibling ) The last thing I gave him was my albums when I got married and was leaving home . 😢
In my humble opinion... There is no other band that could cover this Lynyrd Skynyrd song ... He sings it with such passion... Ronnie im sure.. is very pride!! Ty for this... My favorite channel.. n now i know why... Ty again....
This was my first time hearing Shinedown and will check out more by them. Love his voice and the fact that he isn't overpowered by the band or trying to be all technical with the performance. This is a new one for my playlist. Thank you!
This guy said a truth that a lot of people fail to understand. When your daughter gives you a hug and says "I love you," no amount of money can ever equal that. You may not be rich in material things but everyone can be rich emotionally if your children love you. That is the best kind of rich, just ask a rich person who lost a child.
I’m 44 and Shinedown got me through a lot back in this era. Anything Shinedown is amazing. I’m sure you will hear 45 a lot and yes that is a deep wonderful song. Anything you chose has gotten many through a lot ❤❤
45 by Shinedown is a must. Then Cut the Cord, Get Up, Monsters, and Enemies. There's lot's more. Two decades worth. Their music is really relatable and a very enjoyable rabbit hole to venture into. Absolutely worth the effort.
Shinedown are incredible live! They opened for Alter Bridge a few years back, and they absolutely stole the show and Brent Smith killed the live vocals 🤩🤘

Finally doing some Shinedown! This band is amazing, some other great songs (and they have many) are .45, Monsters, and so many more. One of my top 10 singers ever.
I’ve always loved this Lynyrd Skynyrd song and it’s the first time I’ve heard it from this group ,,, it’s absolutely beautiful. Thank you for this one
Great cover..... And I'm a Skynyrd fan 😊 my eldest son and I used the original as our mother-son dance at his wedding. It still brings tears to my eyes. It's all I ever wanted for both of my sons.
Shinedown’s rabbit hole is a MUST to go down!!!!!! Brent and the guys are HUGE into mental health!!!!
45 (do the live version from Kansas City)
Enemies
Cut the cord
Get up
Monsters
Symptom of being human
Dysfunctional you
Sound of madness
Attention attention
Black soul
Daylight
Second Chance
Special
Save me
State of my head
If you only knew
Through the ghost
When I was growing up in the 80s, we didn’t have all this technology. Things were simple and guess what we didn’t have a care in the world. We were happy I wouldn’t trade my life for this new generation today because they got the entire world looking at them, and on their shoulders, and every little thing they do will decide their future that’s crazy
Shinedown is mindblowing live. Saw them 2 yrs ago and Brent Smith (lead singer) gives everything he is from start to finish. If you get a chance to see them, go for it. It's worth every cent.
I have seen them twice in concert and he sounds just as good. Great band.
He has an AMAZING voice!! You should really check out more of their catalog!!
Shinedown is unreal, they have had like 22 number ones and you should see them live.
You just opened up a can of worms with Shinedown, so many great songs, Unity, Amaryllis', Sound of Madness just to name a few, great band!
Don't know Shinedown but this dude really ripped this Skynard song, absolutely rock with that vocal performance.
@Kipperbob The guitarist was married to Ronnie Van Zant’s daughter at the time this video was made. That’s Ronnie’s grandchild holding his picture❤️
Oh man I really recommend you delve into them. Brent's voice is just magical. They have a fantastic catalog!
Live, they are one of the best bands you'll see these days. His voice live sounds exactly like it does in this video. They have banger after banger!
I think there is absoulutely no war on simple living.. there is pushback against people thinking they about that while complicating their life obsessing over others and THEIR choices.
Great song.
Every shinedown song was a hit. So talented and they are still making hits.
Finally!!! Yes for Shinedown! Please go down this rabbit hole. You won’t be disappointed!!!
Shinedown. Most #1 hits of hard rock/metal of all time. Do Monsters
They do. And they’ve crossed over different platforms and broke records. With monsters you need to watch get up first to understand the video but monsters is a better song 👌🏻
By number 1 hits, Shinedown is near the top EVER in rock. Live? Have seen them 4 or 5 times, and they are AMAZING. You should check out more of their stuff and go see them.
Seen shinedown and smith & myers (Brent smith lead singer, Zack myers guitarist) in the past year…….they sound literally just like this! Incredible shows.
Love Shinedown and Brent's voice. Any song you listen to is absolutely the best! Please listen to more!
Sound of Madness
Devour
Heroes
Unity
Amaryllis
Bully
.45
Monsters
Cut the Cord
Shinedown has SO. MANY. BANGERS.
Shinedown is a great band and has great songs with messages. They sound great live as well.
Always loved this song. So beautiful and his voice is incredible.
Seen them live 6 times shinedown gets better and better each time they are amazing
This was the song I chose for the mother/son dance at my son’s wedding reception.
Im literally BEGGING YOU to go down this rabbit hole! They have so many great songs! Sound of Madness, Second Chance, 45, Monsters, Call Me, Cut the Cord, I'll Follow You...I could go on forever. Brent Smith is Incredible.
This is probably my favorite cover of all time. I love Shinedown!
I saw them in concert w/breaking benjamin and Nothing More (met them!) and it was so amazing! They are what I would call...very aware...and also brought the whole audience together...it was truly an amazing performance. I was kind've into them before then but after that, I was a fan for life!
@@lauraslanesvanlifetravels love this 🫶🏻
Shinedown is amazing live!
They’re one of my absolute favorite bands and they’re just as good live as they are in studio.
Original song by Lynyrd Skynyrd but oh man Brent from Shinedown ( lead singer ) is still this great - he sang with oliver Anthony at a festival last couple of yrs - I think it was held in NC - his voice is still amazing amazing 😢💚💚
Brent doesn’t have hair like that now but the voice is still amazing but no Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote it- special song between me and my brother / This song led my brother to become a southern rock drum player ( self taught ) and singer but he unfortunately passed in a car accident in 1991 at age 24 ( my only sibling ) The last thing I gave him was my albums when I got married and was leaving home . 😢
It has been my life anthem since the first time I heard Skynyrd sing it in 1973.
YES SIR! More Shinedown please. Their library is amazing.
I’m 44 and Shinedown got me through a lot back in this era. Anything Shinedown is amazing. I’m sure you will hear 45 a lot and yes that is a deep wonderful song. Anything you chose has gotten many through a lot ❤❤
Saw them 14 years ago in the mosh pit! 😆 Fabulous! I was front n center. I could hear Brent actually sing. He is awesome.
You are in for a treat going down the Shinedown rabbit hole. Amazing band you will like their catalog.
His voice is so powerful
Got to go backstage at a concert in Maryland with Shinedown, Chevelle and Puddle of Mud about 14 years ago. Played Call of Duty with Chevelle and Shinedown barbequed for us...unreal experience and super down to earth guys. PoM's lead singer was the only one who didn't chill with us...but he seemed pretty hammered on stage.
Shinedown is awesome live. Seen them 3 times live and they never disappoint
I'm so glad you finally got around to Shinedown! They're amazing! As others have said, this is a cover, but they have an awesome array of their own music that has so much meaning. Go down the rabbit hole, and you won't be disappointed 😉
I'm 59 so I have heard this song many times and this hit different. This has me crying ! I will be going down the Shinedown rabbit hole for sure ! This mans voice exudes emotion !!! 🔥 ❤️ How have I never heard of this band ?
You are in for a treat…… Shinedown is AMAZING!!
You can really go down a rabbit hole with Shinedown. Brent Smith has one of those voices that has been my go-to for a long time when I need some music to soothe the soul. Shinedown has countless of amazing songs. Brent Smith and Zach Meyers also have a side project Smith & Myers that is ALSO worth the rabbit hole exploration into Brent Smith.
Ren brought me to this page - I love your positivity and all the flowers you’ve shown him. Seeing you react to Shinedown is icing on the cake. You absolutely need to react to Symptom Of Being Human.
It’s about time he gets to shinedown!!!
Fly from the inside, , 45, Sound of madness, devour, burning bright, unity.... the rabbit hole is endless on this one
This is my first time hearing this band as well! They are bad ass!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Will be seeing them live later this month. It's a gift for my wife- this is among her favorite bands and she is so excited to get to see them finally.
I'm sure by now you've learned that this is a remake from Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Their song "Second Chance" is another great song with powerful vocals and a great message.
