What a great video! I was able to get this done in about 3.5 hours. Step by step in great detail really helped a lot. Now my wife is impressed and I'm proud of my work instead of taking it in. Thanks so much!
Thank You! I would have never attempted the repair without this video and it probably saved me over $500 at a shop. It took me over 4 hours, but I had never done it before. My window went down fast and then stayed down. This part will break without notice and at the worst possible time, like during a summer rainstorm! The motor still made sounds, but it was crunchy and broken sounding. When I took the door apart like in the video, I saw the cable had broke, unwound and created a bird's nest inside the door. If it happens again (It's a Dodge, LOL!) it will be much faster. Note: Be prepared to buy some replacement body retainer parts. They break easy. I only needed the window regulator, not the motor. The parts stores sell them with or without the motor.
Same issue here. Thanks for the heads up.
I watched 3 or 4 other videos along with yours and I consider yours to be the golden standard. I used yours (and only yours) as a reference while completing the project. I ran into a couple of snags along the way (my issues) but I figured them out and pulled it off. Could I have done the replacement without your video? Yes as others had covered it previously but not as well.
To those reading this, skip the others and just use this video. TRQ will be my first stop next time--but I sure hope there isn't a next time!
Thanks for your video!
If your window drops to the bottom don’t fret, just remove the four big screws hold that on and take the back panel off without the regulator. This also makes it easier to remove the regulator from the window.
One of the best walkthrough videos that I have seen.
Excellent video! Took me about 3 hours, but without this video it would taken me days, then hire it done. Thank you!!!!
Awesome video. Very accurate, took me about 2.5hrs (start to finish). Recommend buying some extra door molding clips as they might break.
It took me (a girl with little to no mechanical skills 😂) about 3 hours to do and 80% on my own. I needed an extra set of hands getting the window off and then back onto the clips but did everything else! Thank you for making your videos so straightforward! 💪
I work on stuff like this for a living. These rigid plastic inner door panels with all the door components connected are a brain dead engineering design
they would be alright if, all the components were in the panel including lights / switches etc. , and the bloody harness had a single main plug you could take off.... why do we have to unplug 20 bloody things.. not to mention screw with our hinge alignment.. thats insane.
I used this video to guide me in replacing the drivers side regulator on our 2011 Town & Country today after seeing another video that convinced me I didn’t want to do the job. So glad I found your video, very well done, very complete and just enough detail on the important points. Thank you so much. This video saved me $300-400 in repair costs and several days without my wife’s minivan.
Agree
Is that how much it would cost to fix it including the parts?
@@diannaray7645 I asked my mechanic and he said $400. The parts really aren’t that expensive. As usual, it’s the labor that drives up the cost.
So what if the reason that you are replacing the regulator is that the window is stuck all the way down and it won't come up half way. Then what do you do?
No other walkthrough of this compared. Thank you for doing this! Saved me from having to take it to a shop.
Thank you! I watched 4 videos on how to do this and yours was by far the best. After seeing the problems many were having on hooking up the lock I opted to not take the inner door totally off and it worked getting the regulator in. You saved this 64 year old woman on disability a small fortune to get my window back up and working again!
I am so thrilled to have found this video. Watched it three times before attempting job, then watched it throughout doing the job. Finished in two hours, needed hands from husband to help with getting window in new regulator clips. Girl power! 😊 Thank you!
Great video. Very clear and simple instructions. My son and I watched the video and then replaced the regulator in about 75 minutes. Great job with the camera shots of the door lock rods. Being able to see what was going on in there was a great help.
i’ve done regulators in the past on BMWs, this funky design had me wondering what the heck i was doing, all in all, about 2 hours labor including using the video for reference. great video, for viewers, yes save yourself some $ and do it yourself.
Thanks for this video! On the way home from work today, I was putting my window up and heard a "SNAP"! The cable busted and the window fell back down. This video helped me replace the regulator quickly and efficiently! Thanks again!
I can’t even begin to tell you how helpful this video was. Thank you.
Video helped me get the window regulator replaced with only a few cuts and curse words. ;-)
All worked well except for the express up feature was no longer working. Resetting the switch by holding down the power window button until the window was all the way down and holding it for five more seconds, then holding it up until the window was all the way up and holding it for five more seconds more did the trick.
The secret for auto function is:
With door CLOSED, run window up until it stops and Hold switch in up position for approximately 10 seconds. Should reset.
Correction ... 5 seconds
Great instruction with no filler. Great video shooting with perfect framing. Great editing. I’m all done and came back to watch this again for enjoyment.
Probably the best “how to” video I’ve seen in awhile. Your details were precise, accurate, and crystal clear. Great job!!! Next time I’m coming to you first.
5 STARS & 👍👍
If the regulator being replaced is broken, then it's not possible to use the switch to position the window vertically to get to the white plastic glass retainer things. They should probably explain the best way to do it without the aid of the motor.
Great video! Easy to follow. The only issue I ran into was getting the window on the clips. I found a separate video that said to push down and hard on the window to get both clips connected at the same time. I took the gamble and it paid off.
Thanks for the excellent and easy to follow instructions.
+brian bishop Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
This is absolutely the best demonstration I have ever seen! It is painful to watch some guys who write a dozen Country songs with their chatter before they even start working. Thank you!
Easy to follow. Was worried that it would take about 2hrs longer for a beginner, but you knocked it out of the park, and this was a breeze. Great, helpful video!
Glad I followed your instruction, other video left out valuable information. Thank you, Saved me $400.00 labor cost! I have no mechanical experience, but I am good at listening. Took me about. 4 hours including running down to the parts store for the door clips and another for the regulator. Thanks again!
Thank you. Window was stuck down, dealership (extended warranty) couldn't get it for 5 days and wanted 100 to diagnose. 48 dollars 4 hours and 1000 f bombs and its fixed.
Great video. Just got done replacing the regulator in my wife’s van. Only one part of the video that didn’t make sense to me. If the regulator is bad how did get the window to roll up? Mine wouldn’t work at all. Had to manually push the window up in place and have someone hold it while I undid the white clamps.
Very helpful! Thank You for the clear details and explanation. I had some real difficulty removing the window from the clips.
Thank you so much for posting this video! I was able to replace it having no prior experience fixing cars.
Great video. My wife and i did the whole thing with a rats nest of cables in a little over an hour. If the cables come undone, take the motor off and unscrew the regulator before removing the panel. Works even with the window all the way down
Excellent video! I tackled my 2010 Grand Caravan yesterday and thanks to your video I was successful! I am not a mechanic and although this repair has many steps, this video helped me to decide to try it. I am in Canada and don't believe you ship here so I purchased the regulator here. Thank you!
Your video was perfect!! I followed it all the way and my window works again!! Thank you for all that you do. You’re a saint.
Fantastic tutorial. Hardest part for me was getting the damn rods back on the door latch. Dealership wanted over a G for this repair. $120 in parts and I bought some trim tools to do it myself.

This was a huge help. I tried watching three videos before this one and it was bad. One of the best videos I’ve used
Came back to say thanks again. Did the job and took less than 2 hours. The motor on mine was fine so I just swapped out the regulator and tracks.
Great video! Very clear, instructions were easy to follow, and the quality of shots and audio were impressively good! Thanks so much!
Excellent “how to.” Probably took me about 3 hours. Would’ve taken all day without this video. Thanks!
Just wanted to echo what everyone else said. Great video! Our garage couldn't get to it for several days, which meant our van's window was stuck in the down position until then. Thanks to your instructions I was able to do it myself the next day, and probably saved $300. Much appreciated!
Thank you so much! I have no idea what it would cost me, but I had to go in, but I only paid $85 for the replacement kit.
Thank you for the detailed steps. I was able to successfully do this job within 2 hours. The motor that came with the regulator didn’t have the same connector as the old one so I kept using the old motor. I’ve only owned and worked on chevys but this job wasn’t too bad. Thanks again!
Thanks i was able to fix the replace regulator on my 2009 dodge grand caravan. Excellent instructions.
I've done used your videos to help fix my oil filter housing assembly twice now, and the window regulator 2 times on passenger now driver side one time on my Dodge Grand caravan 2016 rt model. Your video save me lots of money very descriptive thank you very much
2009 dodge grand caravan... Great vid thank you very much... Took me about 3.5 hours. My issue was on the passenger side door so Keep in mind there is no lower rod or cylinder lock rod due to it being the passenger door 😅😅 5:40...
The first rod is there
Take a picture of the wire harness after you remove the panel. This helped me a lot when it was time to close everything up.
power tools and bits are a plus.
Thank you so much for your excellent tutorial , not only was I able to install the regulator using your instructions ,but it only took me 2 hours to complete!!!🙏🙏👍
$65 bucks for the part and this video and I was done in 2 hrs. Thanks a ton man.
Done. No fun. Couldn’t have done it without this video. Even with the video it sucked, but saved me $500 (dodge wanted $615; part was $95). Thanks for the video!
+The Roaman Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
This video is incredible thank you! The only thing that could improve is how to get the window back onto the clips. It is much easier to power the regulator up high enough to get your fingers on the back side of the clip and pull it open from the back, then the window drops easily down on the clip without struggling or screwdrivers. Similarly when taking the window off the old clips it’s probably easiest to pull the back of the clip with your gloved fingers - I didn’t realize this until after disassembly.
This was a great video…My window was stuck down and I could not move it until I removed the window motor..once the motor was removed I was able to untangle the rats nest of cable preventing me from pulling the window up..I also had some trouble getting the tabs back into the window so I lubricated the clips and window with dish soap and plugged the controls back in and the window slid into the clips very easy
thanks for the tip, dish soap on the glass to go back in is a great idea
Not only is this video AMAZING and helped a stupid woman with a tiny girl brain complete this project by herself, the guys voice is so soothing!!! Thank you so much. Really. This is beyond helpful and you’re awesome. REALLY appreciate this.
Thanks! Worked like a charm. Takes a bit of patience and a bunch of pausing to look at the video and then back at my door, but it was perfect.
Video was super helpful. One of my clips busted when reattaching the window because it was cold outside. Bought a new one and used a blow dryer to warm the clips up. Well worth the 5-10 minutes.
+Jeremy Olsen Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Thank you for making this video. It just helped me through the whole project
Thank you for such a great, no nonsense video. I had some frustrations doing this, but got it done. Now for the sliding door window!
Extremely helpful video. Never been inside a door panel before and was able to get it done in 3 hours including a parts run and buying my baby boy a snack.
Dude. This video saved my life. It took us only 2 & a half hours more than it took you, but we did it! Haha we couldn't have done it without this video. Super easy to follow. Although, for some reason, my automatic roll up button isn't working. It goes down auto but not up.
Easy to follow video. My first time. Completed in just over an hr and half. Even though my wiring was slightly different on my 2013. Thank you.....
Great video, helped me from start to finish. The only strange thing that happened is that for this window only, the lock button doesn't work and pressing "down" now raises the window up and vice versa. But I'm just glad it works. Thanks!
Great video, watched it twice and then went and bought the regulator w/o motor for $60 and trim/torque tools for $60. 3 hrs later I was done and I saved over $300 compared to what Firestone shop wanted to charge me. The longest part was getting that little rod back in for the outside door handle mechanism, what a pain to get that in when you can't see it and can only feel for it.
Thanks for the video. I've done two of these (drivers and passengers) on a 2009 Grand Caravan. In both cases the cable end pulled out of the white plastic window support block. I found supporting the trim panel and the inner motor/regulator panel with a jack stand helped a lot while I disconnected the lock rods & wiring plugs.
Thank you for this. It was extremely helpful, and finally a video at a good pace that includes all the steps!
Outstanding video. Clear, precise and super helpful. Thank you!
Excellent step by step easy to follow instructions. Thank you for creating this video. ❤
It worked well following your instructions. Thank you. You also saved me $150 in labor work.
Just did this job on my 2019 caravan. Followed his steps exactly and took me about 1 hour 30 mins
I watched three other videos. This one helped me get it done. Thanks, good stuff!!!
THANKS for One of the best videos I’ve seen!
-Step by step instructions 👍🏻
-Tools needed 👍🏻
-Great video sound, focus & lighting 👍🏻
-Fast forward to get to the point 👍🏻
I got the job done in 2 hours.
What can be of help?
-have this video near to play-pause-play
-take pics before you go next step
-hands free lamp
-partner to grab & tape the window
-a very little bit of grease at window’s plastic retainers
-desire to save $$$ & DIY
+Leonardo Gutiérrez Thanks for watching, great suggestions!
You saved me probably HUNDREDS of dollars. Thank you!!!
Thamk you for posting this. It was very helpful in completing this task
Followed instructions and was able to change the motor regulator for my Dodge Gran Caravan. Thanks!!!
This is it. This is the one to follow. Second time I've had to do this, and the first time went terribly. The step by step on this one is perfect.

@@TRQwhat screws can I buy to put the new window motor in, my van is the exact thing I just throw out my old motor now the new motor don’t come with the screws
Great step by step.. . I was able to replace the regulator for my driver side Dodge caravan 2016 model due to your video great job please do more
Amazing video. So precise and easy to understand. Thank you
I'm a noob but my regulator was toast. Took me about 4 hours I guess but it works again! Thank you!
Great instructions and thank you for sharing this video. The only problem I face with install my window is hooking up the pins. Is there an easy way of doing it.
Appreciate the tutorial. Doing this for the second time in about 3 years.
Watched several videos, but this one was the best.
The best video on this project. Thank you.
Very helpful. I fixed mine with confidence. Thank you.
Good vid, took me way longer than you fellas, but after 4 hours and some foul language we got it done.
