Rather than removing the glass from the door once it is released from the two clips, you can just pull the glass up to the top and use duck tape to hold window in place while reinstalling the track. This will save you 10+ minutes of struggle in an already PITA repair job.

One important tip: it is almost impossible to get out the 3 torx bolts that hold the motor to the door. you cannot grab behind there with pliers, you just cant get the torx bolts out. I managed to get one out then got a drill and drilled out the other two. After I did that , I read that you can just pry the old motor off the door - there is a rubber grommet that will put through the stamped hole in the door. doing this will save you tons of time in this repair. otherwise, the video made it very easy and logical to do. lastly, I bought a dorman motor and you had to cut the zip tie holding the window cable to the motor, they had it zip tied so you could not mount it on the door. give yourself 3 hours if your first time. Almost forgot - i did not take window entirely out of vehicle. after i got the clips off, i pulled window to the top and used tape to hold window in place. a lazy short cut that made it easier.
I do the same, I take the clip off, didn't need to move out the window because it is hard to put back.

The right pin didn’t snap into the clip before you noted on tightening the rails after clipping the glass pins. That saved me every thing around the project. Thanks again 🤛

This guy makes it look so easy I just did mine yesterday took me about four hours it’s very hard to do there’s a lot of detailed stuff and very easy to mess but if you’ve done it before it’s easy

The only issue I had was the rubber grommets being hard to grip with pliers but you can just slide a screw driver between the door panel and the motor, right by each screw, and lever it enough to create a little force so that the screws will undo without trying to hold the grommets with pliers. My new motor had 3 lock nuts on bolts which is way easier to get to with a ring spanner.

This is a very good instructional video. I luckily found a new mopar replacement for cheap. (sorry guys ) The bolts holding the motor to the car didn't have torx, they were plastic push in posts. I promptly broke them removing the old motor! The new motor just snapped in place as it had the plastic posts too. Job went smoooooth. I probably would not have done this repair except for your guidance ! Thanks.
Intermittent loss of power to window motor. It started working after we took the door panel off, but we did not chase down the bad wire. It works today and that is good enough for me.

repair was successful. had an issue with the rubber nuts on the old motor but got it off. dropped one of the screws to the regulator inside a space in the door and could not retrieve it, but found a similar screw in an old workout machine i have.
love the video because you didn't do a bunch of fast forwards except when boring tasks. letting video playout allows me to see more exact what to do and time it takes. thanks for effort

Just went and got chinese food in the Voyager. Wife was rolling up her window and BLAM. Welp, good thing it isn't too cold here... Great video, I have not seen a cable window regulator before (just scissor types) so pulling the door panel off was very confusing and had me worried I was gonna have to feed wire through those pullies and stuff. Seems like its a pretty simple bolt in.
Great video! Note that the electrical connectors on some models have locking clips that must be slid aside before the connector can be released. Also, order some replacement door panel retaining clips along with the new regulator. It’s common for old and brittle clips to break during disassembly.

I've done about 200 of these over the years. Never once did I remove the glass out of the door. Just push the glass up and hold it in place by plastic clamps, tape, or a wooden wedge against the glass.
Well I hope you can help. My widow is stuck at the top, it's the plastic track follower. Any tricks to getting that out?

Thank you, so much, for sharing; great job and all was quite clear. Nevertheless, please tell me how I can determine the repair that is needed. My motor can be heard when trying to raise and lower the window, but the window doesn't move except when I pull it up, by hand.
I'm not an expert like video OP, but it sounds like there might be a broken cable in the regulator, or the window holders (4:53) have come disconnected from the window. In both cases the motor would run but the window would not move up or down properly.
When you pull it up, does it stay up, or does it easily slide (or fall) back down? On my 05 T&C (same design as this video), the nylon glides that run up and down the window rails broke, and the window just dropped down. You have to replace the entire assembly as shown here to fix it, you can't buy the glide separately. But at Rock Auto, it was only about $55 versus $194 (part only) at the dealer.

Tried and tried and tried, but couldn't get the old motor out. Nothing I did gave me enough grab on the rubber nuts to get things loose. Great video guide, and thanks for the information. Hopefully my next repair job will go better for me.

While your way worked with the window, that is not how it is done. I worked the line putting windows in on these vehicles and all FCA products are pretty much the same with regard to door windows. Stand behind the door with your arms reaching through the window frame and with the curved part of the glass pointing down insert it into the door halfway in, start turning the glass upright engaging the forward glass into the rubber glass guide and continue pulling it making sure the rear is now in the guide. Once it is in the track, from inside the door, lower the glass to the bottom, move the regulator to the halfway point and move the glass up with both hands and aline and snap in the pins, finished. You do not have to remove the glass for a regulator change. Pull the glass all the way up and using blue tape, tape it into place and change the regulator, then lower the glass, snap it in and finished. Great DIY video. Yea I know the doors when new at the assembly line are on a door swivel jig that lays the door flat, the process is still the same for a mounted door.

P.S. Must be careful when buying replacement, because 2001 is different of 2002 and so on, I don't know which one is similar, I always go by the colour, the clip thing in 2001 is black and pink. One I didn't pay attention and had to take all apart again and take back to the store.

While watching this video, it looks very easy to do. However, I am in a wheelchair and I don’t have much help to do this kind of job. Am I able just to replace the motor and regulator without having to replace the window track and do all the extra steps?

On a 1998 Plymouth dodge caravan,,how does the wires that go around the spool inside the window motor go?we get them around& one side longer?we put the passenger side window motor in,then threaded wires around spool& put in middle where it goes,but one side of wire cable is longer

I've watched many of your videos and they have been very helpful. My 2001 Grand Caravan has one difference that is hangung me up. The regulator motor in the center of the door is being held up by three white plastic clips, similar to what the door panel is held on with instead of Torx screws. I can't find this in any book or video and have tried everything. Any ideas?

I did everything you showed in this video and after one year the problem is back, so I went to pick up parts to buy a used replacement, I tested there it worked, so I put in my husband's car it worked just on the first test, then I tried rolling down and it stopped halfway, I turned the car off removed the key count till 5 and turned on again, it worked on the first attempt to go up and down, but then stopped on halfway again, I am puzzled, I turned off and did the same procedure, counted till 5 and turned the car again, my husband wanted me to explain, I don't have idea what is wrong.

Hello, I just watched this video today and replaced the window regulator on my 2001 dodge grand caravan. I was able to do everything with the window and it is now working better than ever. My new problem is that the rod that works the inner door handle came off the door and I now have no Idea where it goes and how to hook it back up. The outer door handle does work so I can open the door from the inside of the van if I reach out the window to do so. Please Please Please make a video on how to fix this problem?

I ran into a problem with removing the old window motor. The T30 torx screws were tightened too much into the rubber nuts, and so I can't remove them. I tried holding the nuts as firmly as I can with pliers, but the metal part of the nut just spins inside the rubber outer part. (3:15-4:00 in video)
I had the same problem. I just slid a flat screw driver between the door panel and the window motor, just near a screw, and levered it a little to create some force and then undid the screw. The lever force stops the rubber grommet from turning. Ditto for the next 2 screws. It made it easy.

No Crank No Spark... 1998 Dodge Caravan sport, 3.3 liter. I have power on the 10 amp starter fuse when the key is turned to start, I have constant power at the starter relay, my starter is Brand New and will crank when I connect power directly to the orange wire at the starter...My Starter will not crank when I try to jump the relay, my horn will not beep when I jump the horn relay...Also, I have no power at the Coil Pack when using a test light even when the key is in the start position. Any Thoughts where to go next?

mine doesn't have t30 screws. it has some weird plastic thing that looks like a giant push clip. also the gear comes off of the motor with three screws.

i think someone replaced the motor in my door at one time with one for a newer one. the 2008 model uses those pins. Do you guys sell those pins?

No, window and inner drip molding interfere with regulator track removal.
well, I did it with taping the window up from the top. worked like a charm.

1A Auto Parts Thank you. I just taped up the window and was able to get everything off okay. Might be a bigger pain to do it this way but I tried everything to get it down (including "jumping" the switch and motor) and nothing worked at all. Lol
Didn't even show how to hook the glass to the tracks. That's the Cridical part ! Should have shown that on the work bench.
