  • In this video, I compared the Fujifilm X100V to the new Fuji X100VI to see what's new, went through the UI, and discussed some of the photos I've taken during my two-week loan.

    The clarity option is also in the X100V but it’s best to leave it set at zero because it will slow your camera down if you use it.

    Nice highlight of the features...I just got mine, I'm gassed! I think its easier to get it from a small camera shop. Do you have any film simulations that are good to capture our melanin?

      @GadgetsBoy  3 місяці тому

      Thank you. Haha none I can recommend, but on a good day with good lighting I use the classic chrome with some colour punch then I tweak warmth in post

    What adapter ring and filter are you using on the x100v? Does the original lens cap still fit on it?

    • @GadgetsBoy
      @GadgetsBoy  3 місяці тому

      I have a hood over it and no filter but if you mean film simulation then I usually just use classic chrome but I increased colour. I didn’t check the lens cap but I reckon no, because of the difference in protrusion

      @@GadgetsBoybut can it play games, hold travel tickets, do emails and ring your mates…..😢 I was just looking at my iCloud account. Since 2015 my iPhones (6s, SE2, pro13) have clocked up close on 40k pictures and 1k of videos, many in 4K.
      I guess now I’ve got my X100 VI it’ll be ‘the camera in my ‘pocket’’….sort of. Think it may be squeeze in my jeans instead of the iPhone. May need a ‘man bag’….

    It’s a 2.5mm jack on the VI so an adapter is needed. Daft design….

    is this a good beginner camera?

    • @GadgetsBoy
      @GadgetsBoy  3 місяці тому +1

      It's for everyone, beginner and pros alike

    • @Capyrkeys
      @Capyrkeys 3 місяці тому +2

      I see where you are coming from but I have to disagree. This is not a beginner camera.
      It’s not that beginners couldn’t use it at all, but rather it takes skill to overcome the limitations this camera provides. It’s capable in its own regard, but having just one focal length forces you to get more creative with your composition. Additionally the Separate ISO, SS and Aperture dials are quite challenging for a beginner and the learning curve is quite steep.
      It is easy for us to understand the X100VI but I say that after owning mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras for over 12 years now, growing with it, getting other lenses and gear and accumulating skill. After some time your creativity may only get sparked with limitation and that’s where the X100VI fits in.
      So I wouldn’t recommend this camera to a beginner.

      @@Capyrkeys sorry but I disagree. When I started out, I had a film camera. I didn’t even understand the triangle then. With this, it’s basically a point to shoot camera when left on auto, then slowly as a beginner, you can learn the elements and slowly get better before going to something bigger and interchangeable if you like because then you will understand why you are doing it.

    • @JP-be9cx

      @@CapyrkeysI see. Thank you for the in depth and thoughtful response. I was looking for a camera for a beginner with no background or knowledge in photography. I'm basically dipping my toes into this hobby. Can you recommend me one which will suit my need (without breaking the bank) ?

    • @Capyrkeys
      @Capyrkeys 3 місяці тому +1

      @@JP-be9cx As @gadgetsboy stated, you can start with the X100VI but you will have to learn the basics and if you grow into another field, you won’t be able to get other focal lengths.
      Another recommendation is if you are willing to get a used one. Get the X-T2 with the 18-55mm lens. You will have a capable solid camera for relatively cheap. You can grow with it and acquire more lenses.
      But be aware that if you get into a system, you will likely stay within that system as you get more lenses.
      When you start photography you rarely know which style you end up liking the most. So you need to explore and see. If capturing wildlife becomes your thing it is relatively hard to do so with a 35mm ff equiv. like the x100VI.
      In the case that you already know that street style and documentational photography is your thing and you are willing to invest some time and effort to understand the camera. Get the X100VI or a good deal on a x100V.
