This recipe has been tested on the X-T5, which means it will be 100% compatible with the new X100VI!
Hi Reggie! Thanks for the recipe. This is my first Fuji (x100vi) and I don’t the noise reduction setting you mentioned. Do you know if that’s something not available on this model compared to the x100v?? I’m still getting used to all the settings and options.
Great to know. My VI is arriving today from B&H so I'll definitely give this a try. Thanks!
Does this work on GFX 100 II?
Yup
Does it work with the same result into fuji xs10 ?
THANK YOU so much for this! I brought my X-S20 in my trip, and after applying your recipe, I never had to switch to my other recipes. Landscape, portrait, night shots, food shots, and everything vacation photography in between - all usable in these situations. Came back to this vid to let you know this. Thanks a lot again!
Amazing!
This is so heartwarming
This is so, so awesome Reggie. Many of the Fuji recipes out there for me were too 70s-90s film with a heavy yellow orange tint or the Kodachrome saturation. This is such a nice modern balance of colors and is really terrific. Thank you.
That was the goal.
@@ReggiebphotoThe Pre-installed film simulations that come installed on the X100VI such as Across, Provia, Reala Ace etc, my friend has accidentally messed about with them such as Tone, WB, DR etc, is it possible to reset these without resetting everything else on the X100VI.
This is my first Reggie Ballesteros video. Very well done! Straight up. To the point. No endless chit-chat. Well presented and the instruction is clear, concise, and understandable. it's an excellent ten-and-a-half-minute tutorial that would have been well over half an hour by most other presenters. By the end, I was drooling for a Fuji X100VI so I could try out your recipe. Your images were outstanding. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks 🙏🏽
This is genuinely the best recipe I've found on the internet. I love using it with a slight modification of R+2 B-2 WB shift
Wow, thanks!I’m glad
4:02 the lossless compressed options does not degrade the quality of the RAW file, hence the name lossless. It cuts file size in half (on my X-T3 from ca. 70MB to 35MB per RAW file) and it just takes longer to import into a RAW converter like Capture One or Lightroom, and on Mac OS at least you cannot view previews of the RAW file natively within the Finder. These are the only downsides.
The clarity info was very helpful. After messing with the film recipes I started to get the delay and couldn't figure it out. Thanks for that!
same the clarity setting tip was a moment of "clarity" lol
as a canon girl who just preordered the x100vi (my first non-canon camera since I was 10 years old!), I’m so excited to try this as my first recipe - and binge your videos until my order gets here!! ☺️
enjoy!
Been using your sim for months now and I’m glad I finally found out who the creator was! Keep doing your thing man
Haha, yes. I’m the Reggie behind Reggie’s Portra
We went for 2 weeks on holidays in Croatia and I was using this recipe. Absolutely perfect ! We had sunsets, street walkings, forest treks, the JPEG's from your formula is perfectly balanced !
With a rainy sky in the evening I thought the color was a bit too warm, so I just had to post process in Capture One later (but the light was also very dim). But I will say that 90% of my pictures which I printed are totally untouched from the camera.
Thank you so much !
🙌🏽
Easily my favourite Portra recipe that I use. I shoot heaps of Kodak Portra 400 film and your recipe matches what I see the most when I scan my negatives. I've always been dumbfounded at the other Portra recipes in the app as they look nothing like anything that I have ever scanned.
yeah, for me i bring a good amount of contrast back to my portra scans
Reggie I haven't seen this in the comments but at 4:00 you are implying that lossless compressed comes with a loss of image quality. This isn't the case, the name lossless means there is no loss in image quality whatsoever. The opposite is true for "lossy" compression (such as jpg). The only difference between lossless compressed and uncompressed is that the CPU has to work through the compression algorithm for each image but that is compensated by the fact that your SD card can clear the buffer more quickly because of smaller files. There might be a very slight benefit to giving the CPU more cycles to work on autofocus in continuous high mode but I haven't seen anyone claiming any measurable benefit. Hope this helps, great video!
Thanks
You're a great teacher and a pleasure to follow. Thanks Reggie
Thanks for the kind words!
I gotta say, I didn't expect this to have such a big impact on my photography! I often try new recipes, but seldom stick with them, and just enjoy the stock film simulations. But this is something very unique.
How has it impacted it?
@@Reggiebphoto Seldom shoot RAW, but above all, reignited my passion of capturing moments without overthinking the post-process.
I've been a Canon guy for over twenty years. I've been really looking at adding a different platform to my arsenal. This was a great video on how adjustable these cameras are.
Great to hear!
As somebody that's shot Nikon for 18 years, here's my 2 cents when adding a different platform like Fuji to your main brand. I've bought an X100V (had the OG and F before it) at launch.
I always struggle using it in one way or another. I really miss highlight centric metering , and It's AF is just not up to par with Nikon (Z7II now), if you have face detect on at all times, it will see windows on buildings as faces and expose for that spot or hunt to thatspot. it's RAW workflow is different (if I shoot Nikon in 1:1, the raw is 1:1, the Fuji if i open it, doesn't have my 1:1 crop, i have to do that manually again, with Fuji i have to bring the RAW to what they were myself after the fact which is annoying) - i love the aesthetics, and the X100V i can smuggle in places that normally don't allow pro gear (i.e concerts at nice venues) - but aside from that ? I'm really thinking of just selling it and get a 40/2 mm pancake for my Z7II, which as a total package won't be that much bigger than an X100V. And then i at least have to deal with 1 raw workflow instead of 2.So do rent a Fuji first before just jumping in the hype. My 2 cents.
The fact that you have a drawer for your cameras 📸❤ at 0:02 is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen! 😂🙏🏻😍🥰
Whoa. I've tried lots of Portra recipes throughout the years but this one works great. It wasn't very different than what I've had except for, setting the Dynamic Range to AUTO and the WB Auto but with -1 less Red than what I had. It made a big difference. Thanks Reggie!
Interesting, it made that big of a difference?
mad respect. These pictures look awesome
The camera works much faster when you leave everything to off (zero). Shoot in raw and then apply your presets in the Fujifilm X-Raw studio on PC/MAC. You can even save your presets (recipes) and even upload them into your camera.
100%, but my goal is to avoid processing if possible. And x-raw studio is a very slow software
the main thing is clarity=0, which he touches on in the video
100%
@@Reggiebphotolightroom works fine with simulations too
@@Reggiebphotounbearably slow. It was fun to mess with for finding simulations, but completely unusable for editing multiple images
Awesome film simulation. I have tried a few from others and never really been happy. But I love this one of yours. My only tweak was grain. I left it off, and I prefer a clean photo and I find your simulation gives the photo a nice smooth look that I like. Well done. Thanks!
Hey Reggie, thanks for sharing and explaining your amazing recipe! I'm new to photography and went for a Fuji X-S20 and will probably start playing with your recipe only since I want to spend more time with the camera and less on the editing program... I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the manual settings to be honest but watching your content motivates me :)
Fantastic!
You can always tell, when someone knows what they're talking about. 👏Thank you.
Now that's what I call a clear, eloquent and well structured video! 👏🏻 Besides your recipe looks fantastic and so does your photography! 😍
Thanks so much!
The Jim & Pam reference just locked me in for hitting subscribe, amazing work all in all!
Nice video Reggie. I use this recipe all the time. On the Xtrans 5 cameras they seem to render blue a little different. You might need to set color chrome blue to off to get the same look as the Xtrans 4 cameras.
I feel you on that. It’s a bit deeper/darker
Tested and approved on my X-T30 MK1, it's my go-to recipe for any light conditions when I need a delicate yet affirmed style !
Hey Reggie, I think I was already using your recipe from 1 year ago so only had to do very minor changes. Your photos look gorgeous, and it's very easy to promote this recipe. Cheers.
Thanks my friend!
This recipe continues to be my go to, thank you for sharing this, you’ve enabled a massive amount of Fuji users to get great SOOC results.
I’m glad
Thank you Reggie! As a fellow bay area head... Cheers!!!
Yay area!
Bay Area Fuji gang in the building! 🌉
This. Is. It. No joke. This truly feels magical. Just the right amount of everything and nothing at the same time. Lowering the EV also adds so much character when it calls for. And in the end, the photos feel like a modern day developed roll of film. Thank you!!
P.S.
- in video, when adding a Kodachrome 64 lut, it works together with this recipe like PB&J!
Did you follow this to a T? Im excited to try it
@@michael_177Yup! It's incredible. Don't hesitate , do it! Try this and Kodachrome 1 from FujiX weekly.
That was a really wonderful explanation of your thought process as you created this recipe. Thank you so much.😊
Appreciate you watching the video and commenting!
I tried this on my X100. Although there are limitations in features compared to modern models, I still feel relatively satisfied with the results. Thank you for sharing.
Nice
great video! Watching all of these to prep for the 100VI
This by far is the best recipe I have ever used! Thank you! I would also like to compliment your teaching style, you are excellent!
This has been my C1 recipe since the day I found it. Thanks for such a versatile one!!
Same here!
The best recipe - thank you 🤜
🫱🏽🫲🏾
Wow, this is the perfect recipe I've been looking for, thank you so much!! And I loved the photos shown in the video.
Thanks! Are you going to give it a try?
@@Reggiebphoto I took some pictures with my XT4 and it worked great.
i shoot this recipe with a glimmer filter on my x100v (+ wcl) a whole year. unbelieable. printet them out anf wooohh. great analog. saved my 6000€ on a Leica Q3
Hi Reggie, I'm so lost with all these recipes out there, just looking for a nice versatile recipe so I can shoot JPEG without worring about post-proces. This might be the recipe for me I guess :)
Nice!
These are some beautiful photos, excited to try it out on my new x100VI whenever it arrives!
Let us know how it goes!

Thank you! Was just about to ask if the recipe was written down anywhere. :)
BULLSHIT 😂😂
Your narrative style is very nice and interesting. You give very good information in a very calm way. Thank you very much for your effort and information. I will try the settings you mentioned in your video as soon as possible. Thank you Reggie
Thanks 🙏🏽
Reggie, thank you so much! I’ve used your simulation a few times. I like this video because you not only talk through your specific setting, you explain them, and in some cases, tell why you prefer the cameras setting vs Lightroom. Thanks for your work buddy!
But I’d like to ask, do you use Jpegs for your professional work as well?
I use JPEGs for all professional work as of today. For weddings when I used to do them, I use my Lightroom preset which I sell on my website. With that said the wedding photos I showed here were JPEGs as I shot thst wedding in jpeg+raw
Just upgraded from xt3 to xt5. Can’t wait to try this!
Thank you Reggie! Hell ya! I love this film recipe! I literally keep trying out new recipes, but this has been far the one I keep going back too.
I've actually recently started having one with strong grain and one without the grain.
-strong grain for the more filmic look
-no grain for the crispy sharp photos.
This recipe is my favorite hands down.
I've only started utilizing it with video so I have yet to re-evaluate how that translates in post. But excited to see how it looks.
I like that! Two variations!
On video I use a separate more muted recipe
@Reggiebphoto where can we find the recipe for videos?
It’s not published yet.
Beautiful job on this recipe, Reggie ! I just tried it out for the first time on my XT-5 and the results were exceptional. This is one film simulation that is going to get a lot of use. Many thanks for sharing this with us. Slainte !
Glad to hear!
For the clarity delay time, I found that one can override it by shooting in “burst” mode by changing drive from 1 shot to 3 or 4 fps. Short shutter press is one photo and for alittle more action, press and hold for a burst😂 idk- works for me. Though maybe the buffer for thag burst is incrementally smaller, but I’m sure that wedding and docu photography isn’t as fast pace as action sports. What do you think @reggiebphoto
on the x100v i don't prefer burst
What's the difference to turning clarity off? Or do you go to single shot when you want to apply it?
Just FYI, when in burst mode, the camera isnt actually applying the clarity settings. So it is not the workaround that you think it is. Read the camera manuals and it will confirm as such.
@@spencergiles72 hm! Thank you for letting me know!! I did not know..
though maybe it’s different for the XPro-3 that I shoot on, but it’s probably the same. Didn’t notice that it wouldn’t apply! Thank you for sharing.
@@alkram7This is how all Fuji cameras with the Clarity setting function.
Awesome video and recipe Reggie! I’ve just had my new X100VI delivered and excited to experiment with this!
Sorry for this absolutely beginner like question, but I just started and I’m confused. If set all of this, which I did, and than I for example switch to different film filter. Does this all change? And than, how do I select it back if I saved it just like you showed us to. I can’t find the save anywhere. Thank you for whoevers understanding, I realize this question might be too much for somebody😂🙌🏼
The best recipe yet! You nailed it! Should be “baked in” to the next firmware update “Reggie’s Portra”.
Haha thanks
This video is almost making me sell my a7iv lol
I sold my Sony back in 2016 and been Fuji boi ever since, it's so nice. It's an AMAZING pick up and shoot camera line, and all my jpegs look great. No editing required
@@Fablemahn what do u think is a good one besides the x100vi right now. I like the film look. Any suggestions?
@@tlfilms207 I have the XT30ii. Basically same sensor as the X100V. The XT50 came out now too. With the XT camera’s, you can have interchangable lenses with the same quality as the X100’series
THIS looks so good! As already mentioned from others, the most recipes are too 70s like, this one is awesome! Thank you!
Glad you like it!
Just one question Reggie: you have adjusted Auto WB a little bit for optimize the melanated skin tone. If I wanna have it optimized for brighter skin tones, what should I change here?
In general the output is very good, but just thinking to optimize it for my Family :-)
Maybe R to 0 and B -2 or R +2 and B -3 ?
Or will that change the complete look? I am not sure if a change is really needed, but in some situations the skin tone is too "Brown", but IT really depends on the light.
@bastis.1751 use your judgement my friend. You know how your family looks. This is out of my scope.
With my x-t5 i shoot jpeg in one sd card and raw in the other. I mostly never use raw, but it happens sometimes that i need to bring the exposure down, and that is where shooting raw saves my day.
100%
Same me. Since I don’t shoot videos on my xt4 and xt2 I just keep separate sd for jpg and raw. Reason why some situation require in my opinion brining up shadows and toning down highlights.
Out of the office today but I cannot wait to try this recipe when I'm home. Thanks for sharing it!
Salamat po, kuya! You’re amazing and I always feel happy and inspired by your work! ❤
I love your work Reggie and a great UA-camr too such a humble soul!
wow that shot of the couple in the elevator is beautiful. Incredible that those colors came straight out of camera.
Thank you!
This recipe looks so good! I used it on a recent holiday in New Zealand and Australia. A great film recipe to have in the roster
I am one measly slip away from switching to fujifilm. I absolutely love all these options.

I’m thinking about buying the x100v. A lot of reviews said it’s a great camera but if you don’t have enough knowledge on film you won’t get the film look you are expecting. But seeing that you just literally gave the recipe out for free I think I’m definitely gonna get this camera now. Thank you 🙏🏾
Hope you can find one !
Been following you ever since I bought my XT3 back in 2020 Reggie and have been using your film simulation and have been loving it keep up the amazing work man!!
I'm glad it's been working for you!
Your tips & tutorials are very helpful. And you're making me want to buy the new Fujifilm X100 vi which seems like it's going to be a lot of fun
partner.shopmoment.com/3exm0M 😇
A beautiful recipe and such a fab explanation, thank you! I just went and changed the clarity on all my saved recipes to 0, game changer.
thx for the tip on the clarity section! i never knew that was the reason for the annoying “storing” black screen after every shot. so much better now.
First time viewer, and I’m not even a photographer, I just like photography… and yet, I find this video very useful and therefore it’s an instant sub… Thanks bro!
Glad to have you here
Thanks for this Reggie. I've used your recipe on my XT-1 for a few weeks now for my "walk around the neighbourhood photography" and I've been very happy with the results.
Thanks for reporting back!
XT1 is so underrated. Been shooting it for years professionally. Makes work flow so easy, yet I don't see many people using it pr Fuji's in general. It's eliminated post process editing completely.
I was at my cousins wedding and I happened to be shooting for my own personal use and saw her hired wedding photographer shooting an XT2 and we instantly bonded lol
I also tried on my X-T10 and works really well. Shadows -1, Color +2, etc. For White Balance I've chosen the Sunlight option. What about you?
Thanks for the feedback and thanks to @Reggiebphoto
I usually stick with auto WB with a little added warmth.
You’re right, the film simulations are really great. Having said that, I still prefer RAW. But that’s just because I shoot few photographs and I want to dedicate careful effort to post processing them. If you’re a PRO, I can see why, after a period of familiarization, you can safely switch to the film simulations.
Yup. The delta between what I would edit if I get anything “wrong” is very minor that I don’t need the full flexibility of a raw file anymore
Thanks for sharing this recipe with us Reggie.❤
You're welcome!
Loaded the recipe and am loving it! Thank you for sharing!
I don’t have a fujifilm camera and I don’t do photography (much), but I watched from beginning to end, the way you explain and talk is just so compelling! Love your content and your work is beautiful! I remember watching some “pros” and every time they showed examples it was never that great or at least didn’t connect with me, but yours are just so beautiful and real there’s this look to them more than just the film aesthetic, it’s the angles and the realness of your subjects and the way you treat them.. anyways! Great video will probably watch more ;))
Thanks for the kind words
Oh man, thanks for the info about the clarity setting causing a delay! It’s the main reason i don’t use recipes much. Gonna try it without clarity setting. Thanks
You’re welcome!
I love this recipes, It makes my photos much much better, big respect.
Some great tips here….also like your style of shooting. Your wedding photos are great without looking like some fantasy photo shoot coz most experience wedding shooters get carry away…..in the long run those kind of photos doesn’t do much for memories.
First comment that I'm writing since years
Your photos are fire, please keep going forever

I have three recipes in my X-T4 that never leave C1 to C3 presets, and one is Reggie's Portra! Great recipe in any condition!
What’s the third
@@Reggiebphoto well, actually yours is the third 😅
C1 is Kodachrome 64 and C2 is Kodak Tri-X 400
Nice
Wow! Thanks for posting this helpful video. I can’t wait to try it.
Man this recipe is so damn fire. Great work my dude!
Haven’t seen the video yet, but if you have one of the fujifilm cameras, they have the heif format, which is 10bit. So not as flexible as raw, but you get to shoot with the recipes you want, with some added flexibility in post if needed. I think that’s awesome! Also, very excited for the video!
Nice! Thanks for the tip. The buzzkill for me is how heic isn’t the most compatible format around. Other than that I’d totally use it.
@@Reggiebphoto hopefully it’ll become more compatible as it grows in popularity.
Your white balance adj and comments were very thoughtful.
How so?
@@Reggiebphoto I never thought to adjust color tones to bring out skin tone to best reflect a subject’s ethnicity. I just liked that part of the video.

Thanks guy just got my first Fuji and heading to Colorado !super excited
Reggie, best simulations video I've seen yet.
Thanks so much! There's quite a few of them out there.
A way around the storing delay after taking the photo is using the evf since it doesn’t display the preview afterwards. It’s saved me so much time
Oh nice. Would that work if you just turned off the playback preview altogether?
@@Reggiebphoto not sure but it’s worth a try!

Amazing. I'm happy you've been using it. How did you find it?
@@Reggiebphoto From you actually. I asked in one of your earlier videos because the skin tones for your family were great in the pics you shared. I wanted to get a similar look for my family since my wife is Filipina. You directed me to the recipe on Fuji X Weekly and it's been my main recipe ever since.
Excellent, Reggie. I have bookmarked this and will be implementing. Thanks again.
Amazing Fuji Recipe! Just put it into my X100F and even the WB adjustments work really well for that warm feeling. Modern cameras just tune it way too neutral. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
This is most interesting and I look forward to trying the ideas. Awaiting delivery of an X-T3. Spent several hours reading the Manual, amazing number of facilities. Never seen a sports-finder in a digital camera, and so many manual focus aids.
