- I upgraded from my X100V to the new X100VI for everyday/personal photography. This is my two month review after purchasing the camera on launch day. Can you operate an entire UA-cam channel with just this camera? Well...I wanted to find out.

As someone who shoots point and shoot film camera, the hobby is getting more and more expensive that sometimes i cant justify the developing prices anymore especially where i live. Lately I've been craving my hobby again and was looking for a camera that gives the same vibe as my film camera and you just gave me the perfect camera. It's not cheap but in the long run this will be an investment for me. Thank you so much for showing pictures and video and using solely the X100VI. This camera looks like a lot of fun, I’m just disappointed by the lack of supply and the toxic reselling market
I have not watched a single other review of this camera… but I think yours is by far the best. I always love seeing cameras in action and being shown what they’re capable in different use cases as opposed to just hearing a list of the specs. Thanks for a great video! The photos & video clips both looked stunning!

I own this camera as well and the images it produces are just amazing! But the best thing about this camera that it makes you wanna go out and actually use it because it‘s so light and takes away a lot of friction from the shooting process. You don‘t have to decide which lens to use, you don‘t have to bring a heawy bag when shooting and you can use the Film Simulations if you don‘t wanna edit the photos afterwards.

I absolutely LOVE your video language. Also that you incorporate outdoor shots into your videos. I love how James Popsys is doing this, standing outside and we watch him actually use the gear while he talks about gear and photography. I honestly just got this camera few days ago after waiting months and getting notifications this camera was on backorder. I went through so many videos about this camera and seeing the results it pushes out until I saw yours. Honestly, been feeling like if this was worth the wait and purchase of this camera but your video and photos got me feeling like it was the right move. Trying to get myself out of the burn out from photo work and been finding the right camera for every day use. Thank you for sharing this video! I absolutely love my X-T3 but I’ve been looking at the X100 lineup. You’re the first person to mention that the rear screen doesn’t tilt in vertical orientation. That’s a deal breaker for me. Glad I watched your video. Maybe the X100VII will have that 👍🏼
Ah right on! Yeah, I do really miss having that tilt. Hoping the next iteration has that!

Whald would be your daily go-to setup with this camera? 1/4 bpm, 1/8 bpm or even a bpm with a cpl?
@kellair_ if I was shooting mostly video then I’d have a 1/8. If mostly photos then I’d leave it off.
Are you talking about ND here? I thought the cam only had built in 1/4

Finally could get my hands on one. What SD card do you use with yours in terms of size and speed for photos and video?
and how much pictures / 6k video can you get on that specific card size?
I'm eyeing towards a v60 128gb card because of the UHS-I limitation and price combo, have enough space for video and also have a bit faster offload speeds for the 6k video files.

This is hands down the best display of video footage out of the x100vi I have seen on UA-cam yet. You've managed to make it look like a MUCH more expensive, dedicated video camera. Which editing software did you use for this and what advice would you give to someone less experienced about how to achieve this kind of look and colour out of FLOG2 ?
Excellent work. I was in two minds about whetehr or not to place an order for this camera and you've pretty much sold it to me.
Really appreciate the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the video. I use davinci resolve, but I’m just using the grading tools that are available in most any NLE (like primaries, curves, hue vs sat/hue adjustments, etc).
The best advice I can give is to study the films you love (even with scopes and such, but also with your eyes) and discover what makes up the different looks. Take that knowledge that you accumulate over time and apply it to your work. Being adaptable is one of the most important skills a colorist can have IMO. Hope all that helps 🫶
@@DylanSpitz Thanks for the reply. I do observe the visuals of movies I love the look of the most. Do you recommend slightly overcranking the white balance in-camera to get an automatic baked in warmth for a more cinematic colour? Or do you just grade it warm from neutral?
You can use this camera easily for professional work too! It is super capable to do.

i used the x100 V for a season, but desperately wanting a camera to shoot video and stills with, the lack of IBIS made so many of my vids unusable (esp shooting while driving). i kinda just ruled out any new x100 as overhyped (though pretty). but seeing your video footage with the VI you're making me reconsider grabbing this camera again. great review and the only one kind that really matters since all tech specs on new cameras should be competitive.
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, I’m with ya - the lack of IBIS and 8-bit video codec on the V were a bummer. Crazy to think now it can actually be a hybrid camera at that size.
