I'm over in PA and I've only ever caught black crappie using minnows and slip bobbers. I recently picked up some jigs to try and they are very similar to what you used so I was happy to see that. I just upgraded my electronics from the Helix 5 to the Garmin 93sv with Panoptix so I'm headed out today to give them a shot. Thanks for the vid.
Great tutorial. You know how it is, if you don't go you know you not catching nothing. If you do go you might catch something. Keep the film rolling 🎥!!!
Geez, your finder lens looks like my glasses lens most of the time up here in Burnett Co LOL. Like some of the other folks here I have a Helix 7 I have not yet mounted so your videos on imaging are superb. Still using a Hbird Wide Eye that I have had for about a quarter century!!!
Yes the 1/4 oz jig shows up a lot better than a 1/16oz jig on livescope. If you're trying to get used to livescope I would recommend using a larger jig to easily find it on the screen
so is it safe to say that crappie are not normally in a ball and that if i see a ball of "fish" on my side vu, it's likely bait? I have gone out twice now with my 95sv and i notice all sorts of balls of fish. All i have caught were 4-5" perch. I enjoy the videos on the side imaging and down vu. Appreciate the time.
Yes typically if you see balls of fish those are bait fish. Crappie can be schooled up tight (especially smaller crappie) but they usually are in a ball.
Only way I know to communicate; but where would you draw your “triangle” on lake o pines, if you were fishing tomorrow, generally speaking. Seems like that guide had you all in the “highway”, or river bottom
my guess the crappie are in post spawn mode on that lake. They most likely will be on the timber next to the creek channels, similar to how we were finding them when I was there last fall.
Flopping Crappie they were def post spawn . Two weeks ago I fished north of the pines in some Arkansas lakes and they were done . They were on the trees, for the most part. First day i did not keep and stopped counting after 70. Caught a 2.65 white ( pb for me ) and broke off two bigger fish. Day two kept ~19 and on my way out saw millions of crappie at the damn chasing shad. We don’t have #s like that in our lakes. I would not begin to understand how to cast into those schools and think I could compete w live bait. It’s like having 50 decoys in an area where there 100,000 ducks. Rarely works, in my option.
Hey there love the channel and the informative videos you post. I fish lake Guntersville down in Alabama. Man it’s tough because I just started fishing from a boat this year and using a fish finder(Lowrance hook2-7tripleshot) I used to fish bridges prespawn and that was the only time I could catch them but now no matter how hard I try I can’t find them I’m sure it’s post spawn now. Should I just quit till summer patterns set in or where could I begin to look?
do you know where they spawn on Guntersville? If so, during the post spawn crappie will move out to deeper water 8-12ft. Look for brush piles, submerged trees, or deeper weed edges. It may take a lot of time scanning with your electronics (be prepared to scan for an hour), but eventually you will see a bunch a bright dots/dashes on your screen near these locations.
Got a dumb question How do you determine there crappie ? Without catching them Say running down lake scanning and run accross that how can you tell them from say shad . Thanks
I should have made note in the video that I fish this lake a lot.You wouldn't know if the marks are crappie until you catch them. I fish this lake enough to know what the crappie look like on the sonar.
Down imaging shows mostly directly under your boat similar to 2d sonar. However down imaging tries to show a wider angle left and right of the boat in a 2d style screen.
well it was a pretty large school. The lighter dots/dashes in the black area on the screen are crappie directly under the boat. The crappie ranged from under the boat to about 40-50 on each side of the boat.
Hybrids would help that reservoir alot, they can't reproduce and would eat up alot of those small schools of crappies... That lakes has so many crappie they growth is stunted.

Another great show, Kentucky

That was amazing That you were able to catch it on camera of a Mega school of crappie on your side image.
Thanks for watching!
Always enjoy your videos. Great information!
Glad to hear it!
Need more Vid like this on locating marking and fishing with side . And down scan..

Great video. I did learn something about my side imaging. Thanks for showing
You're welcome

Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the side imaging lesson. thanks
My pleasure!
MAN! Thank you so much for these vids! It helps me so much!
You're very welcome, glad they help!
This is cool .Very hightech stuff. You can see where the fish is.
Humminbird rocks awesome videos and great info
Thanks for watching!

Oh wow!
Love your tips. I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos. And crappie are my favorite to catch. 💪💪
Thanks for watching
All I can say is WOW! Great video.
Thanks Pete!
A lot of great information like always on your video 👍
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Unbelievable great, never seen so many fish
Good info, just bought my first side image graph!
Thanks for watching!
Love using 1/4 oz jig. Don’t need a sinker and will tend to catch bigger fish. Can see on the scope very easily.

Good Job , I just Went to the Garmin Striker Vivid 9SV , Another learning How To Experience In progress lol 🤣🤣
Great video and content. I bought a Garmin last year and I took out some but I need to still need to learn how to use it
Thanks for watching. I will be filming a series this spring with my garmin 93sv and how to use all the functions
@@FloppingCrappie Thank you
Good video man!
Thanks!
That was damn amazing. Great footage man!
thanks for watching!
Daaaaang. That’s what I’m looking for
Nice video 🎣🎣

Can you tell how deep the fish are if they are 10-12 15 ft or just there fish there
How about underwater video of that massive school? Enjoyed the video.
Good video thanks

Wow i never seen that many crappie in my life.
Thanks. How fast do you go when you are searching for crappie?
My idle speed is 2-4mph
When you see them off to the side like that do you just set up on top of them and vertical jig

@@FloppingCrappie Ok, thank you.
Awesome
thanks for watching!
As someone new to all this technology, how far was it from the sides of your boat out to where the crappie were at on your side imaging console?
well it was a pretty large school. The lighter dots/dashes in the black area on the screen are crappie directly under the boat. The crappie ranged from under the boat to about 40-50 on each side of the boat.
I'd that was a massive school, why weren't any in the water column index the boat??
good vid but a little screen cleaner or a different angle on the screen
What frequency I’d your si set at?
It is set at 800 khz
Hybrids would help that reservoir alot, they can't reproduce and would eat up alot of those small schools of crappies... That lakes has so many crappie they growth is stunted.
ca i have an email to contact u thank u
Jesus mary mother of god!!!!!! Id like to drop a dymamite in that school
Haha
clean your screen before you record
