A good explanation that was told to me about the dark area is it is the depth of the area you are traveling through. The long line in the center is the center of your boat ( transducer) Great video and explanation on what we are seeing. I grew up in Minnesota.
@@JIgginCrappie the settings should be pretty close the same as my unit in the video. I mostly run default setting with the contrast turned down slightly
@@FloppingCrappie I’ll have to thank ya for this video. I’ve never had much luck out of my side imaging. Yesterday I headed out to bull shoals and decided to put your settings and suggestions to use. I was able to find several brush piles with fish setting on them. I now know what I’m looking for and looking at. I ended up with a limit (15) of nice big bull shoals crappie. Thanks again for the video
Sorry guys. If we could only pull gold nuggets out of the water occasionally, maybe this would be something for all of us. I love how these guys get in $200k boats with another $30k in imaging equipment, and then pass it off as "it's just as simple as this". Richard Gene the Fishing Machine catches more crappie than anyone I know, and he uses a depth gauge and thermometer. 😂
And there are those Karen's and Kyles that want to tell everyone how to Fish and worry more about what others are doing instead of minding their own business and enjoy themselves 🙄
@Hasselhoff25816 my boat all together is maybe worth $25k, but i do understand your point. I enjoy watching Richard Gene and the old school approach to crappie fishing. He is one of the best at it. The reason I make these videos is to educate anglers who may have recently purchased a unit with side imaging and want to understand what they are viewing.
@@FloppingCrappiehey man keep putting these videos on here. I’m new to crappie fishing and like to see all different techniques. I really like Richard Gene’s videos too and I try to work on things he shows every time I’m out there on the water. It’s frustrating as you can imagine but I still work at it. I don’t knock those who use live scope, it’s cool and I want one but they’re expensive. I will have one I can tell you that, but for now I’m working on basics and will soon buy a good side imaging unit and these videos you put out help me. I’m sure I’m not the only one. To each their own as the saying goes. Even with live scope I’ve heard it takes a while to master catching. It’s the approach, the color and size of baits and tons more. Keep posting man!
I've said it before but you proved some of the best content for crappie fishing, and Garmin should put you on the payroll..the best at practical setup
Thanks for all the fishing tips for all of us weekend warrior fisherman. I am new to your channel but again thank you very much.

Thank you for explaining side imaging. I bought a boat that had it, but I didn't know what was a fish. Or what wasn't thank you?
Dang, I was hoping to see you fish that brush pile! Judging from the shadows, it looked like a lot of good fish on it!

@@rickyyym i don't have a humminbird 360
Yeet!🎣🔥

You know you got livescope
I assume for people who don't have livescope lol
It’s really hard to cover ground and find fish on livescope you side scan the when you find them you pull out your livescope
