THE DOORS - You're Lost Little Girl
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 гру 2012
- This song is the second track on the Doors 1967 album "Strange Days". It was never released as a single. Keyboardist Ray Manzarek suggested that the song was about a very young Mia Farrow, who had just got married to the much, much older Frank Sinatra.
LYRICS:
You're lost little girl
You're lost little girl
You're lost
Tell me who
Are you?
I think that you know what to do
Impossible? Yes, but it's true
I think that you know what to do, yeah
I'm sure that you know what to do
You're lost little girl
You're lost little girl
You're lost
Tell me who
Are you?
I think that you know what to do
Impossible? Yes, but it's true
I think that you know what to do, girl
I'm sure that you know what to do
You're lost little girl
You're lost little girl
You're lost

Robbie has to be THE most underrated guitarist in rock history. He was never a shredder but the way he crafted his solos and lines are perfection.
Sublime
lucky enough to meet Robbie and tell him the same thing and underrated sing writer

Robbie is awesome. Listen to " Summertime " His solo is incredible imo. Forever a huge Doors fan ....
I've been a DOORS fan for 50 years now (yes....since 1966). I went to 6 DOORS concerts and my greatest rock song of all time is 'LIGHT MY FIRE'. I play ALL their records to this DAY !!!

fantastic and I commend you that is not an easy feat

You are lucky. I wish I could have seen them.

Every time I hear Jim's voice its like a ghost I could never meet but an inspiration that's been with me and my music my whole life. haunting, epic, eternal

Well said.
No speeck ingles
Ah, yes, same for me too
Word...for...word. Now that I am in my "senior" years, so many of their songs plus Jim's voice, bring a tear to my eyes. My heart aches that he (and Ray) are gone.
Don't you hate when you cant listen to an amazing song without getting memories from someone you want to forget?

A tear that longs for it's rest
Laughter out of merriment
Sweet Sorrows to forget.

@@uncatila sad but true.. Is some song i can't listen because it makes me sad even years later.
Jim's voice on this song literally scares the hell out of me. This song is a one in a MILLION melody that can't be replicated. Talk about the golden era of music, you'll never ever see songs like this written and sang by a singer like Jim ever again.
+TheRaidaz18 You are correct...We'll never hear music like this ever again....the passion is gone, replaced by corporate greed and autotuned fools looking to make a quick buck.
+TheRaidaz18 every hundred years or so we get a talent and a genius like Jim, and in between we are stuck with mediocrity much like the crap of the so called music of today
+TheRaidaz18 Yo. I think they certainly influenced 80s Goths. Siouxie and the Banshees covered this, and the sparkling guitars, with Jim's image seal it here.

There will never be another Jim Morrison. A tragically beautiful man.

+heavybison: yes those days are over forever...reminds me of the last scenes of Lord of the Rings. The characters getting on the raft and sailing into the mystic. The time of magic over. Now the time of man...God help us all.
+heavybison I was in high school in the late 60's. I can tell you that not only will a band like the Doors never happen again. But never will that era, both musically and culturally, happen again. I was, however, lucky to see the Doors perform twice. First time it was amazing. The second, Jim was not together. You all know why. No reason to beat that dead horse here. Peace...
LOLOL funniest comment i have ever seen ...for the pure cheek comparing The boring monkeys are like the Doors ...get a grip
Jim's morphine smooth vocals, are hypnotic. Robbie's guitar is a perfect compliment. great song.
Some stripes and some whiskey and wondering up and down
The man and the voice were special. A real shame he died so young.
Ain't nothin cool about the opiates boy.
Roger Stedina, what a great comment from you. Perfect description.
“Morphine smooth vocals” is the PERFECT way to describe his voice! I always say smooth as butter but I always knew there was a way better description out there! You nailed it!
Tuve el honor de verlos en vivo en su presentación en la capital del país hoy a mis 80 años los recuerdo cómo si fuera ayer

What a beautiful, creepy, captivating dark, yet uplifting ballad.....another Doors masterpiece.
+smiley4284 Sixties were a goldmine for music.
The jangling guitar open is also ahead of its time. Probably why Siousie and the Banshees did a cover of it. It's echo-ey and reminds me of the New Wave stuff from the early '80s.
Son las palabras perfectas que quize comunicar , habria agregado misteriosa enigmatica. Musica para el futuro.
this band was so far ahead of theitr time
Love the guitar solo in this. Jim's voice was sublime.
The doors are the only band that has this unique sound and lyrics that you just always carve for more!
This beautiful song and "The Crystal Ship" are my favourite Doors' songs.Robbie's guitar work in both of these songs is some of the cleanest and tastiest that he has ever done.
+Derek Belbin exactly, the guitar solo on this one is really good
Jim himself said it best when he stated Robbie was a great guitarist. Hell, listen to his flamenco on "Spanish caravan" , or his country - style pickin on "Easy Ride".
Yes. Crystal ship is so haunting.
"Blue Sunday" and "Yes, The River Knows" also they have beautiful solos.
Not to mention he also wrote lost little girl as well
Strange Days is such a classic great Album. Jims songs have a timeless, universal appeal witch will never make them feel dated.
Actually most of them are Robby's!
*the doors songs
Steve Marvellous + Actually about half and half. They all contributed to all the songs musically, but lyrically it's split favoring Jim slightly.
@Doug Dickeson Absolutely, some people who rarely get any credit are Paul Rothchild who produced all their LPs except LA Woman, Bruce Botnick the engineer on all( ? ) the album's , Doug Luban bass player on 2+ Albums and this track ( also about 3 other bassists ( AND the studio this was recorded at, and the great room reverb there.
Best Doors album
Todos las canciones de "te doors" son geniales, no se necesito más que un baterista estupendo, un pianista que tocaba como si estuviera en las estrellas, un guitarrista con talento único y alguien con una voz profunda.

How powerful is Jim's voice here. Truly outstanding. Love the guy. RIP Legend.
Glad the Doors came along in my generation. Back in the old days we took 8 track portables on top of mountains and tripped all night to the Doors. There were so many great bands that hit the scene in 66 and 67 besides the Doors but their music was way ahead of anyone else.
The whole album is a masterpiece and it was a great time to be a college student in Houston.
Another one of my favorites by the Doors. Damn, that voice!
Dolores M Listen to Wintertime love.
Some artists and bands were the one-of-a-kind in their genre... The Doors are absolutely on this list!
One of the most unique sounds I’ve heard and the fact that it makes me feel like I’ve heard it before
Reincarnation and dejavu...
The guitars have such a gothic rock vibe, great stuff

Such simplicity in this song yet so profoundly beautiful!!!! One of my all time favourites
I have always
wondered what the young people thought at the time in which the first
songs of the Doors came out listening to them. They
are still so modern and projected into the future that part of their
great repertoire has life for a long time, their uniqueness of sound
and lysergic poetic rock amalgam drags the souls of the listener as the
wind does with the kites.
Interesting thought about how the young and teens reacted when these Doors songs were brand new. It must have really been a trip, especially after you heard the album about 7 - 8 times. Then it hits you all the more.
My all time favorite band. They can bring out every emotion humanly possible of feeling, and instrumentally are talented from top to bottom.
R.I.P Jim and Ray. You're gone but not forgotten, your music will live on for eternity, and you both are surely missed.

There are few bands that can take your emotions and imagination into another realm inside and The Doors are one of them if not the best. I remember I didn't get The Doors until was about 20. One day I was in my basement drinking beer and decided to put waiting for the sun in and something really clicked in that moment. I've been hooked since; what a good memory. Long Live The Lizard King! Peace and love guys 🧡
The guitar solo is great.
C. It is short but profound.
I'll always be lost to a point in my life but when I listen to Jim sing I feel like I have been found again.
I live a few house down from Ray's childhood home in Chicago.
The Doors are the best band ever! We have nothing this good in music after 50 years? So sad.
Shajuco Connelly. Its funny they were just showing a documentary of a band from the 80s and 90s and I was thinking of this Doors Song and realized how bad that newer band was.

What a magical band!!!
When you’re lost, you only think you’re lost. When truly, you know what to do.
Remember who you are.
Nothing is impossible to overcome.
The beauty of the world and music, is that it’s all a reflection of your inner world. Whatever the lyrics say to you, is a mirror.
For an untrained (thank God) singer, Jim Morrison had a fantastic sense of pitch; it was spot on most of the time. Occasionally online you can hear isolated (his voice only) tracks of Jim during the recording of the iconic first two albums and his pitch and execution are near perfect. Some may think this crazy to say but in many ways he was a son of the great crooners of the '40s and '50s, the Perry Comos, the Frank Sinatras, the Johnny Hartmans, the Tony Bennetts of the golden age of the American Songbook.. If you listen with that in mind it starts to make more sense. Also, Morrison had a finely developed technique of going from soft, breathy warbling to loud, demonic shouts and screams -- all the more effective because of the contrast. My opinion is of all -- all -- of the great rock front singers he had the most control of his voice and its capabilities.
Well stated... he certainly maximized the tools he had. His range was limited, but inside his box he really knew had to operate... I’d add to your analysis, he not only intuitively understood crooning technique he also, like sinatra, knew how to evoke feeling and emotion which matched the theme and lyrical meaning. Few have that, esp in rock. Plus he brought a danger element into the baritone that even a fewer select have. Elvis could do this, but he steered away most of the time from the desolate themes Morrison stepped into.... I have a theory, Bowie didn’t come into full bloom until he figured that out. It’s interesting Bowie never talked about Morrison, yet he was actually very close to the orbit. Iggy met and idolized Morrison, Bowie was iggys close friend. Bowie also saw the doors in London in 68.... always felt like Bowie had quite the ear to the ground re Morrison, but kept it on the low.
Fantastic!! Jim Morrison it's a Hero..😍😍 the Doors are the best!!❤️
Robby nailed it with this song.

Always one of my favorite Doors tunes. Just love the dynamics, the masterful way they build it to a crescendo, something they did better than most any other rock band. Just a beautiful masterpiece!
My mother used too love the doors hence the reason I listen today and every day, a band like no other, they will never be touched or equalled. LOVE THEM MADLY
Such a beautiful song, Jim sings it perfect , wonderful poetry and lyrics.
Every time I have this urge to listen to this magnificent band, I always go straight to this song. It's so mystique.
The guitar riff in this is thirty years ahead of its time, their magic and music transcends time and space.
This is a great great love song demonstrating Morrison's crooning ability. Had never heard the Mia Farrow story (above). The awesome guitar solo is about as close to a liquid guitar sound as you can achieve. This was recorded using an actual reverberation room as opposed to the digital reverbs (now mostly just software algorithms) we have today. Magic.
this song always makes me melancholy
This music will never die!!!!!!!!!!!!
The music which starts at 1.42 and ends at 2.00 is just otherworldly. No words can express it's beauty. Wow❤️
Apparently double recorded giving the song a natural chorus effect. And a truly great guitar solo.

To think that Ray plays the bass with his keys as well, fucking awesome
+Aaw I mourned him and played The Doors more so that summer in years. Riders may be his testament. Born musician.
Actually, in most of the records, there was a bassist. The Doors used a bass on studio to thicken their sound, but live, yes, Ray was responsible for all the atmosphere. In "You're Lost, Little Girl", the bassist is Douglass Lubahn.
