this is such a good tutorial for granny squares. ive tried several videos but this is finally the one where it clicked for me !! and i love you showed how to do chainless it’s so much easier to find the space to slip stitch ! thank you
I don't know if it's complicated just for me but I took a lot of time to do it 😃 and I'm trying hard yet change my words, I got the best result, a result I didn't expect at the beginning, I thought it would be difficult, but it's easier than what I expected, you're amazing 💕
I made it for my books, and it was really good! I kinda messed up on the buttons, and this was my very first time doing granny squares, but this came out very good! I give it 1000000000000/10
I tried to make one, but I guess my tension when holding my yarn is too tight so it ended up being too small even for a paper cover. So I ended up improvising and adding 2 more granny squares and adding a couple more double crochets on the sides. Overall this tutorial was very helpful and easy to follow but I got confused on how to add the loop part.
I could not understand the little loop section for the button. I did it for the first round but now how can i do the second round on the loop? Should i make the loop in the last part?
Hey Jade!! I'm using your tutorial with another pattern of granny squares, could you share the dimensions (more or less) of your granny squares so I can see if it'll work with your same measurements? thank you
Great tutorial! Can I ask approximately what's the measurement for one granny square crochet? I've made something similar before but ended up not being able to fit my book in it :(
It depends how big you make it Ig! And your yarn size etc. Ik that's not very helpful but if ur book doesn't fit then you can add to your granny square and make it bigger by adding another set of edges
I dont understand the chainless stitch so im doing the chain 2 but i cannot tell if im supposed to chain 2 and then also do two more double crochets or three....
@@jadecordial Thanks! So far the squares are coming out great. I'm very excited to put it all together. (First tutorial of Granny squares that makes sense to me!)
You can use any type of granny square you want! Just make one using any tutorial and then measure to see how many you'll need to join to make an appropriate size rectangle to fit your book. If it seems like it's too big/ small of a square you can try to use a smaller or larger hook! It's the same process though basically
I sewed it with a needle and thread, and I think they are from amazon. But I honestly don't like it that much because it's a strong magnet and it's hard to separate the flap unless you grab both magnets
A bunch of scraps for this pretty sure, but I tend to use red heart, big twist, or caron. It's acrylic size 4 yarn. Big twist is definitely my favorite but that's probably because I have a Joanns near me (their brand). Micheals also has a nice of that type!
I’m not exactly sure but you’ll need the most for the outside main color! you could probably find a website with information on how many grams of yarn a granny square takes for each row!
Love this! I'm going to make the sunflower one from your other video.... how do you make the loops for the buttons? I'm guessing just a chain but not sure how to incorporate that into this pattern! Thanks :)
I sort of touched on that in the tutorial but yes it’s just chains. After you join the squares together into a block, you go around with half double crochet. At a certain point (wherever u want the loop for the button) you’ll place a half double crochet then chain as much as you need and then half double into the next stitch. That’ll make a loop!
I did 5 rounds with a smaller hook and my squares seem wayyyy to big? 😂 idk why but I feel like they should be smaller. Maybe I’m tripping or I just have a small book with me
I could NOT make a granny square before this video thank you!!!
I’ve made 5 so far 😭
that’s amazing!!!! glad i could help
so helpful!! This was actually my first crochet project, and I thought it would be too hard but I did it! thank you! :)
yay that's so awesome!

Yay! Thank you! I’m so glad it worked out for you:)
Watching you do this made it look so easyyyy ✨

It was one of the best tutorials for crocheting on UA-cam ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Awww I’m so glad it was easy to follow!
i made it and it came out so good I LOVE IT and the pattern was so easy to follow THANK YOU SO MUCH
I’m so glad!!!
thank you so much for this tutorial! it's so helpful and really cute and beautiful!!
how big does one granny square measure? i am going to make this but using a star granny square and i want to make sure it will turn out the same size

i love the colorsss
Thank you! I always have a tough time choosing colors
I JUST MADE MY FIRST GRANNY SQUARE. THANK YOUU SO MUCH!
OMG THATS AWESOME
I have already crocheted four sunflower granny squares and I am going to see if they are going to work out for the book covers
I'm sure they will! If they're too small you could always add a row or 2 of single crochet around each square to make them slightly larger
@jadecordial Thank you for letting me know that cuz I see what you are talking about
Awesome directions ❤❤
omg i was JUST thinking of making a book sleeve but with heart granny square,,,, now i think i want to do this pattern instead
oooo hearts would be cute!
oooo hearts would be cute!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUUUU IT LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!! ❤❤❤
for anyone that hasnt let a tail at the end of the granny square ( like me ) dotn worry just tie the colour between one of the stiches 👍
Mine came out way to big for my book but I still love it. I think I’m going to make it a clutch purse! Thanks
oo that would be super cool!
I could not understand the little loop section for the button. I did it for the first round but now how can i do the second round on the loop? Should i make the loop in the last part?

OMG I'm going to do that as soon as I buy more colors hahah
Took me three days to complete my first one but I love it!
Omg that’s awesome!! 3 days is pretty good, sometimes it takes months for me to finish stuff 😅

2 more! The chain 2 counts as the first double crochet
@@jadecordial Thanks! So far the squares are coming out great. I'm very excited to put it all together. (First tutorial of Granny squares that makes sense to me!)
Is there any ways u could post this book cover tutorial but with daisy granny squares instead 😊

Gracias por enseñar😊
Me encantooooooo
how did you add the magnetic clasp? and where can i find them?
I sewed it with a needle and thread, and I think they are from amazon. But I honestly don't like it that much because it's a strong magnet and it's hard to separate the flap unless you grab both magnets
What yarn brand did you use?
A bunch of scraps for this pretty sure, but I tend to use red heart, big twist, or caron. It's acrylic size 4 yarn. Big twist is definitely my favorite but that's probably because I have a Joanns near me (their brand). Micheals also has a nice of that type!
took me two hours and 3 attempts to get that first little square but i did it 😭
What kind and weight of yarn did you use?
Size 4 yarn. Also called aran yarn. It's big twist or red heart usually
How many grams of yarn it takes
I’m not exactly sure but you’ll need the most for the outside main color! you could probably find a website with information on how many grams of yarn a granny square takes for each row!
can I please ask what the size of the book that you put in the book cover was?
5 x 8” approx!
i still can’t.

how do I combine them after combining them into twos?
The same way. Lay them so they make the rectangle shape with each set of 2 next to each other and sew down the sides
How do u like that book btw I’ve been thinking of reading it
i actually haven’t read it yet!
Hey! What’s the size of the yarns you used? Thank you!
size 4 yarn!
Hey What kind of yarn did you use ?
size 4. Red heart and big twist
@@jadecordial thank you 😊
Hii what layers of yarn did you use? 4 or 8?
I used a size 4 yarn! One strand
I wasn’t able to fit my book in it :(
:(
You could add some rows of hdc to the sides after you join the squares to make it fit!
I did 5 rounds with a smaller hook and my squares seem wayyyy to big? 😂 idk why but I feel like they should be smaller. Maybe I’m tripping or I just have a small book with me
hmmmm maybe you have looser tension. Pretty sure i crochet on the tighter side
@@jadecordial maybe 😭 I’m gonna try again though and see what happens ty ❤️
mine looks so sad and shriveled up compared to yours lol
Is there any written pattern?!
no sorry!
honestly this was confusing like she didnt really show the chainless stitch and mumbled so much
Literally
