- This is a fantastic, rich chocolate cake that goes well with any type of low carb icing. We've had it with milk chocolate buttercream, a peanut butter buttercream, and as a Copycat Hershey Bar cake using low carb Sukrin milk chocolate bars. Delicious!!!
Basic Low Carb Chocolate Cake
¾ cup heavy cream
1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
2 cups almond flour
¾ cup oat fiber
¼ cup coconut flour
¾ cup cocoa powder
¼ tsp instant coffee granules
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 ½ cup Sukrin:1 or your preferred Low carb sweetener (www.sukrinusa.com use code friends for a 10% discount)
1 tbsp vanilla extract
7 eggs
1 cup melted butter, unsalted (8 ounces)
4 to 5 drops of liquid sweetener to taste
First, add apple cider vinegar to the heavy cream and set aside. Mix all dry ingredients really well and set aside. In another bowl, mix eggs, vanilla, and melted butter. Add wet ingredients and heavy cream mixture to dry ingredients and mix with a hand mixer.
Pour batter into your choice of cake pans. You can use 8 inch round cake pans, a bundt pan, muffin tins, or even a 9” by 13” baking dish. For the three 8 inch round cake pans I used, we baked it for about 16 minutes. Press lightly on the center of the cake to see it it’s done. I should be fairly firm to the touch. Do not over cook.
The Danish dough hook can be found here: www.amazon.com...
Use the cake with your favorite icing. We love the peanut butter buttercream or the Copy cat Hershey Bar cake with Sukrin Milk Chocolate!
The Peanut Butter Buttercream recipe will be available here:

Grace has a cute sense of humor. I love your mother daughter cooking team.
Here in France we have a cake that is called fondant (melting), fondant au chocolat (chocolate melting ) is my favorite it's a chocolate cake that is half raw inside hence the name melting it's still warm and melted inside.
When I began eating gluten free I was very sad that I wouldn't be able to eat it anymore but luckily I have found a recipe that is gluten free, dairy free and not a bad option for a treat in a keto diet.
3 eggs
200 g of chocolate (75% or more if you use a very dark one you may want to add some sweetener, I use 75% and no sweetener)
125g of coconut oil
30g of coconut flour.
Your oven should be at 180 °Celcius
simply melt the chocolate and coconut oil then mix everything together (if you do it by hand you may want to stir the eggs, mix them with the melted oil + chocolate and only then add the flour)
put it in a mold (spray some coconut oil in it first so it doesn't stick)
and then in the oven for 20 min tops.
careful when removing it from the mold as it's still raw inside and breaks easily.
eat it still warm as it's even better but it can be eaten cold too. don't refrigerate it as it would lose it's "melted" texture.
In the US we call that a lava cake because it’s like hot lava spilling out. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
This sounds yummy. I like that it has very few ingredients.
I can't believe its low carb! Best cake I've ever made! I made a chocolate cream cheese frosting and a little peanut butter sauce on it (kind of like a poke cake)topped with a dollop of whipped cream.. glorious!
If you wanted, you could freeze the layers and slice them pulling toward you, with dental floss. Slices cakes evenly every time :) Thank you for sharing this, looks amazing !!
Great tip! I will definitely try this. Thank you
Made this for Father's Day with the keto chocolate cream cheese icing. It was amazing. I had a huge oven disaster going on, but the cake still turned out great. Thank you for your recipes!
Fantastic recipe. Daughter's expressions made me aware...I had to reduce the size of this cake to 2 single servings (his & hers). Baked in a silicon 5" dish in the microwave for 1 minute. Fabulous! TY.
this is the best cake i have made yet!! going to make this for my daughters 2nd birthday :) thank you so much! i love your videos
grace is my favorite! she's an excellent assistant!
I've been waiting !!! I'm so excited for the cake! This was such a joy to watch!!!! Grace and yourself are such a Breath of Fresh Air!!! The love and Respect you have for each other shows so much as the family things you've created as a Your Family Grew! Little thinks like Grandma making Daddy his CAKE. Or getting the beaters and bowl before you can even get the cake or what ever in the Oven! These are the Treasures of YOUR LIVES!!! Hold them so close and tender!!! Every time I watch I see a bit more of Mr.David and yourself in each child. Like you said "she comes by it naturally" Sweet!!! I like the crumb rule and Miss Grace, Bacon would be interesting! My husband's friend at work has some kind of Maple Candied Bacon treat . Maybe make some candied bacon like you make candied nuts and try it with a slice of this yummy cake!! Thank you so much for filling our tummies at our home and my Heart! I'm great-full your feeling better ! Looking GOOOOOOOD Ma am! Xoxox Deb in California!!!

Good to see you looking so well, cake looks great..Good work Grace you look great as well.
can't wait to make this cake!
I love your videos and I have tried several of them. I would love for you to do some type of cake other than chocolate. I want to make one for my daughter and she doesn't eat chocolate.
Kristy!! Long time no chat honey! Girl, to keep from breaking your cake, just before you're going to unmould it, lay the cooling rack on top of the cake pan. Press your hand to middle of the rack and with other hand spread across the bottom of the cake pan, flip the whole thing over so the rack's on the bottom. Pinch the rack and pan together and give it a little shimmy shake to coax it out. Lift the pan off. Voila. 😘
Do you have a recipe for coconut pecan frosting? Thanks for sharing this recipe. I would like to make this cake into a german chocolate cake.
Love your hairstyle Kristie!
I want this for my birthday next month!!! thank youuuu! 👏😙😊❤❤
I don't think you'll be disappointed!
I Love your videos!!!! How many carbs in a slice of cake if it serves 16 ? Thanks
Looks like a great chocolate cake Kristie!
thank you! I hope you like it!
+Cooking Keto with Kristie where do you get oat fiber? I just usually put my oatmeal in the blender and use it instead of bread or crackers for specific recipes. Is that the same?
Heather's Weight Loss Videos NBA cccxxn
No! Oat flour (high carb, moderate fiber) is not oat fiber. (no carb, all fiber)
Loooooooove!!!
Looks amazing thank you so much Love your channel and your talking LOL
This looks so good. I have been searching for a good low carb chocolate cake recipe. Ilook forward to trying it.
FYI I tried to view the peanut butter frosting video by clicking on the link and got a message saying that it was a private video.
it's now available!
this recipe is like a 100 yr old choclate cake recipe instead of butter is is crisco and water melted together with the coco on the stove. the batter is real runny though will give this a try.
Bake at what temperature?
Looks so goooood
Do you have recipe for a cheese sauce that's keto& no dairy in it ....please send me a notification for it....please thank you.....
hey Kristie I was wondering if I could sub something for the coconut flour? I am allergic and can't have anything coconut but I LOVE all your recipes that I have tried and I love your channel! would love to be able to make this cake :)
love your videos. still saying the its private for your peanut buttercream icing
Love love love your videos! Just want to let you know that your link to your Peanut Butter Buttercream recipe is not working. It says the video is private
What is the oven temperature
Do you have any good recipes for diet brownies
Does any brand of Oat Fiber work? And would it be ok to use Swerve (I know there is a slight cooling effect) would that change how the cake tastes? Thank You
can I do it without oat fiber?
it's not cheating it's a shortcut!
For slicing even layers, try cutting it with dental floss. Works a treat!
Hey Kristie, did you happen to calculate the carbs & fiber per serving? Just curious.... :)
how can I print out this recipe ?
do you have a link to the video of the peanut butter frosting?
I like the idea of oat fiber, as the fiber is equal to the carbs in it, but I am curious how you count that in your recipes. Do you count the total carb amount, or do you subtract the fiber?
Kristie states in the video that she counts total carbs, not net carbs.
Do I have to use oat fiber or can I sub with more coconut flour?
Do you think this would be OK with dark chocolate bars?
is anyone in Australia that know where I could get oat fibre from... and sukrin?
The link to the peanut butter icing says it is a private video
How many net carbs would this be?
Thank you! I Can't wait to try this! The pb butteecream says private :/
that's because I've got to type it up!! I'll do it in just a few hours.
+Cooking Keto with Kristie Oh lol.. I'm sorry!!! Thank you!!
I love your videos and I can't wait to make this cake; however, sadly, the links aren't working... at least, for me.
all fixed now!
Hi - looks sooo good. Decided to make this on a whim and have everything but the oat fiber - can we substitute psyllium husk powder? Thanks - love your videos!
do you have coconut flour? use 1/4 cup of that for the oat fiber.
oh great - you're an angel for replying so fast. The cake can go forth! Thanks!!
We made the cake and it was fabulous! Had it with just whipped cream and it reminded us of my Austrian Great-Grandmother's flourless chocolate cake (which was made with ground walnuts or hazelnuts). I used Erythrotol and liquid Stevia which had a teeny aftertaste on the first day - so I will use your Sukrin:1 and liquid Sucralose next time - also will try to get the richest tasting cocoa powder possible. Organic Dutch I used didn't have enough kick. We froze the leftover cake and found that it was EVEN more delicious two or three days later. It was pretty amazing frozen too :) Going to try crumbling some and using as a cheesecake base. Thanks again for all you share with us.
NorthernShrew I was wondering since the recipe already called for 1/4 cup coconut flour did u add a total amount of 1/2 cup instead of the oat fiber or just the 1/4 cup the recipe called for?
Dough whisks are available at Lee Valley as well. Here is a link to the Cdn site... www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?p=69506&cat=2,40733,44734
Why do you count “total” carbs?
Some of your recipes use Pork rinds. Is there a substitute? I don't use pork or pork product due to religious beliefs.
Bake at what temperature? Directions are missing that.
350
What can I use in place of Oat Fibre. I can’t find it in the UK.
You can try half of the same amount of coconut flour.
Cooking Keto with Kristie oh thank you. This is gonna be great for Christmas.
I just tried to view the peanut butter frosting recipe & the link says it's "private video".
sorry! I've got to type in the recipe. give me just a few hours.
Thanks! :)
all fixed now!
Where do you get oat fiber?
You can get it at Amazon and a number of other places. Just google it.
Having a hard time finding where to click to get the recipe, Kristie. Can someone help me please?
click on SHOW MORE below the video
ok, you didn't put where to get the oat fiber....I went to amazon and typed in life source oat fiber and it came up acaia something... i tried just lifesource.com and didn't get any thing where do you go to get life source oat fiber. and the surkin chocolate bars are sold out..... sad face.... so i guess i will have to wait to make this cake. please get back to me with the address for the oat fiber. thanks
definitely use the LifeSource brand. I buy it from Netrition.
When I click on the link to the peanut butter buttercream recipe - it comes up private 🤔
Same for me! I hope Peanut butter Buttercream still coming!!!
oat fiber is the pure insoluble fiber. it isn't the same
any mathematician figure out the macros for one slice from an eight piece cut?
Add up the carbs for YOUR ingredients and then divide by 8
It'd be great if you used grams instead of cups. US cups are different from UK and Australian cups, so US recipes always fail for me!
Some ingredients are missing from your recipe, i.e. baking powder and others.
Oh my goodness!!! Thank you so much!! I was multi-tasking. I've updated it now. bless you for letting me know!!
Much too much talking
Have to agree. But it is hard to cook and talk at the same time while trying to remember the whole recipe. I appreciate how they made the videos into a family activity. It's fun.
can I do it without oat fiber?
