    The grip charges LP-E6N batteries to 100%, but it won't begin charging them unless the are discharged below 90%. It will charge ONLY LP-E6"N" batteries. It will not charge LP-E6 batteries, not even OEM Canon LP-E6 batteries, and not any current 3rd party batteries. I shoot vertically just by turning the camera without changing my grip.

    The camera itself can charge the battery too, just use the included USB-C cable and a USB-C charger/dock with power delivery. I could even charge it off of my ThinkPad.
    Typically I can get by without charging the camera and a separate battery simultaneously, but it's nice to be able to do both.

    Hi, can I ask a couple of questions please. Is the grip made from plastic or magnesium alloy like the camera? Are the buttons metal or plastic? and does it have any weather sealing or does it make the camera vulnerable to moisture? Thanks in advance and great video.

    Ive tried using my battery grip as a charger and my batteries won't charge. Do I have to turn the on and off button on? I'm not sure what's wrong. I hope it's not a technical issue. The battery grip still works though so that's why I'm confused.

    I don't know I have had grips on everything like my 6DMarkii and 80D Inhave grips on then but the grip on this camera fits my hand perfectly. For instance, when I'm shooting the EF 70-200 with the adapter. Cuz I'm not dropping $3,000 at the moment for the RF version. I can grip this camera very well. I just put my hand into beast mode and hold on and I don't have any problems at all. Right now these are $200 but I think I'm going to wait. I really like it though

      EOS R is definitely better than A7ii... A7iii... Now that's a competition.

    • @RudolfWolph
      @RudolfWolph 4 роки тому +2

      That's a lot of money to drop for a replacement to an already capable camera. I'd say it really depends more on the ecosystem you want to be in-- the available lenses, speedlites, remote triggers, software and anything else without cross-platform compatibility.
      If you compare the two on www.dpreview.com/reviews/image-comparison the Canon does perform just sliiiightly better on noise than the Sony but it's nothing to write home about.
      For lens selection, the most practical option for Canon at this point is to adapt EF lenses. With a Sony there's a much broader (but expensive) selection of native lenses that don't need an adapter-- the 24mm f/1.4 is particularly impressive, given its smaller size and weight compared to every other similar lens on the market.
      Any EX series speedlite from Canon will work on the EOS R and that's one of the big advantages of the Canon system-- there are a lot of third party and used speedlites and accessories like remote triggers on the market that will work fine, but everything available for Sony is from 2012 or newer unless you buy a $22 adapter, thanks to a redesigned hot shoe. Budget brands like Meike or Yongnuo haven't come out with Sony versions of their TTL speedlites that are available for Canon or Nikon, and there isn't as big of a used market for Sony accessories.
      I don't consider any one body to be worth switching for, you have to consider what you want to take pictures of and what exists for each system to help you achieve that goal... I wound up getting the Canon but I wouldn't jump at the chance to ditch a Sony for it if I had one already.

      @@VideoGizmology Touch and Drag is Canon's feature of moving focus points using the touch screen. Trying to reach the touch screen with your thumb while holding the viewfinder to your eye normally requires taking the index finger off the shutter release and shifting the hand. This is awkward. • @djack41

      @@VideoGizmology Ergonomics on the EOS R is a problem for me. It is either touch and drag or the slow direction buttons to move between focus points. • @panagiotistsiverdis
      @panagiotistsiverdis 4 роки тому

      @@djack41 I just got the grip today. You can set the touch and drag feature to be activated using the whole right part of the screen. In this way you can actually move the focus point really easily in the portrait mode using the grip. It's not as comfortable as with the normal grip of the camera because the battery grip is bigger so you need to move your thumb a little bit more but you can certainly do the job and it's more comfortable than shooting in portrait mode using the standard grip. Also the camera balances much better my big lenses like my 85mm f/1.4L IS with the adapter. Add to that the bigger battery life and the charging ability of the grip and at least for my taste this thing is a must.
