Avery paint mask - averyvinyl.com/A1828-S-WHITE-P... - Навчання та стиль
Contest has ended! Congratulations to the winner, Dana from Indianola, Mississippi!
Well done. Keyhole slots are quicker and much less expensive. They also don't have metal that could scratch paint and walls.
I love the simplicity you use. Just a word of warning, get yourself a router table. I used to do what you did and the router turnover on me and I lost part of my index finger and 3 months healing.
I've definitely heard that advice before, and you are all totally right. I'm not using that method any more :). Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing your process! Both signs look great!
NolanCreate Thanks for watching!
Muito bonitas as peças !
Love it! Would like to see more videos discussing how your CNC router works.
Timothy LeMoine thank you! That’s a good idea. I may do a couple in depth looks at CNC operations in the future.
Thx for the video u just gave me the desire to make more
I saw a great video. Fighting!!!
Great job!
Already have our entries in... That sign is ours! It's in the bag.
You were so quick on the draw that I hadn’t even put every entry opportunity on it yet. There’s a couple more in case you’re interested. We’d hate for you to miss out. 😉 Thanks for being a part of it!
I revisited...
That's intense! Loved watching you in motion!
Make Things with Rob Thanks!
I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm learning a lot from your videos and watching your techniques. What bit are you using for those signs? Thanks for the great vids.
Aw man. Sorry I didn't see this comment before. Just about all my engraving I do with a 60 degree v-bit. The chamfered edge on the second sign was done with a 90 degree v-bit. All clearing and profiling was done with a 1/4" spiral end mill. If I'm worried about the cut quality of the top face I try to use a down-cut spiral. Otherwise I like up-cut spirals.
Thanks for the opportunity!
docbizzler Sure! Good luck!
incredible process! thanks! dude, take 20 minutes and CNC yourself a router baseplate and make room at the end of your bench for a router table
John Coyne It’s on the list 👌 I’ve got some thick acrylic I’m going to use for it. Thanks for the tip.
Very impressive, interested in what program you used for design and to interface with the router
Pete Crawford For designing and output to CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) I use Vectric Aspire. The CAM files are then interpreted by the machine using its internal software. In my case, I have a Shopbot and they developed a program specific to their products. You can see the process in this video linked here, but I have several other very detailed tutorial videos about my design process with Aspire. ua-cam.com/video/_GNrUJl5Pho/v-deo.html
Thx for cool video! =)
Glad you like it!
Awesome signs! Definitely would love to win a custom one for my home, something pizza related to hand in my kitchen. I make dough a couple of times a week and we eat homemade pies quite often.
Jeffrey Lammers Awesome! Best of luck to you. I’m already thinking of some designs we could do.
I have my fingers crossed!
Excellent video. May I ask what kind of paint you recommend? And do you use an acrylic spray for the top?
Thanks! I know this is a lame answer, but I don't have a good recommendation. I just use Rust-Oleum 2X coverage because it's decent, always great color selection in stock, and often on sale at Menards. For the top coat it's just a Satin or Semi-gloss lacquer.
Great videos
Chip Robeson We really appreciate that. Thanks!
Thanks for this. What kind of paint and finishes did you use or would you recommend for outdoor signs? Thinking to try this out with some cedar. Appreciate any advice!
Fred Housel Outdoor can be a challenge. In my experience, it isn’t nearly as important to worry about the paint as it is to select a superior exterior grade finish. Sparurethane is an option. Multiple coats, and you’ll need to reapply every couple of years if you want it to really last. You could also look into some epoxy options. That would be the most effective. I couldn’t really recommend any as I haven’t used any myself (yet).
@@DoItProjects Awesome! Thanks for the response and advice! I'm going to look into these. I'll let you know how it goes.
Long time coming, but I finally just finished this little sign up. I really wanted to do one color like you did here, but was asked to do a base color then an engraved color. I pretty much did what you've done here (not as good), but the mask and everything worked great. A friend suggested this graffiti paint, Montana. I used a regular primer, lots of high grit paper, a few coats of the Montana paints and a varnish from them as well. It's not too bad. Seems good, but I guess only time will tell. Thanks again for this video, REALLY helped me with this project!
Fred Housel awesome! That’s great. I’m glad it was of some help to you. We’d love to see the result. If you’re on Twitter or Instagram find us @doitprojects and share a picture.
so cool
you should add a v groove bit
nevernind, you did. nice!
Thanks! 😄
love it! how long does it take your router to cut the whole sign?
Thanks. Not too long really. It depends on the complexity of the design. The engraving and flat end milling together are usually around 45 minutes. I'm totally estimating here 😀
Wow thats really good. So did you use two size bits on this design? Some of the letters are so tiny and I think I see a 1/4" bit? or 1/8"
@@cesartorres7537 60° vbit for engraving. 1/4" flat endmill for clearing.
Hey great video, what is the sticky paper you used called?
Well shoot, It *was* linked in the video description, but that link is inactive because Avery (being the good manufacturers they are) have halted all sales to focus on producing masks for the COVID19 crisis. That's actually awesome. Anyway, the name of the product is in the description, but there's another hot item signmakers are LOVING these days. The maker is Oracal, and the product is 813. Just search Oracal 813 and you'll find it. I've used it too. Works great. Good luck!
I’m new to CNC and I was wondering what bits you are using?
90% of the time I use a 60° v-groove bit for engraving and 1/4" spiral end mill for pocketing and profiling. In this project I also use a 90° v-groove for the chamfer around the edge.
What two bits are you using?
Brandon Beehner you can do just about anything with a good 60° vbit and 1/4” spiral end mill.
what engraver did you use?
aldo garza I have a Shopbot Buddy BT32. It’s 22 inches in the x direction and 32 inches in the y direction.
Thank you for posting, whats the name brand of your machine?
Shopbot buddy BT32. Thanks for watching :)
If i win it will be in Almost every video i upload...i need itttt lol🤞
mr somthinbasic215 haha, well we can’t make any guarantees, but we can wish you good luck. And if all else fails, we sell them too 😉
0:12 I already have Depends on me 😭
Hahaha!
What brand of CNC is it that you're using?
It's a shopbot. Thanks for watching!
how deep do you cut?
jmsnlra usually about 1/8”. Depends on the detail and size sometimes.
What CNC machine are you using? Sorry I’m a new subscriber.
No worries. It's a shopbot buddy. Thanks for subscribing!
Just what we wan what cnc system
I AM INTERESTED IN HAVING A SIMILAR TYPE SIGN WITH THE INDIAN MOTORCYCLE CHIEF LOGO ON IT. HOW WOULD I GO ABOUT ORDERING ONE AND HOW BIG CAN YOU MAKE THE SIGN?
Send me a message. www.playonwoods.com
That is really dangerous the way you used your router when you added the chamfer........... I do the same thing...
I'll be the first to admit that that method is not recommended 😂
nice video but the "music?"
hans pijpers
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Holy hell that router work was the sketchiest thing I've ever seen in a maker video on UA-cam. Please be safe brother. That is a 30k rpm spinning knife you just have free wheeling in the air.
You are not wrong. That method has been discontinued. 👍
