I just watched the Roger Gracie example of this about 2 weeks ago. I saw how if the opponent gets aggressive trying to posture up that he goes to diamond guard. Xande just moves higher up and takes his side closed guard higher up the back.
Roger. Many world championships taking arms and backs from side closed guard. I watched a video on UA-cam where Kyra and Roger were being interviewed. And guess what they were practicing?
I have always liked the arm drag from closed guard. My bread and butter from closed. Studying and practicing this will help me A LOT. Thank you Bernardo and Xande!
Bernardo, I dont think you hear this enough... I am very glad that we have you, because you are making a very important contribution to bjj! This type of videos and the dvd series are big. The important thing is that they are reaching a lot of people aroung the world! The fact that you can get these type of quality fighters and trainers, by bringing them to us is huge. Keep this up, you are awesome. P. S. You and Marcelo seem like you are the most gentle and nicest people in the world, something I like a lot.
Parabéns Bernardo!! Xande Ribeiro é um ótimo professor.... tem uma didática excelente!! Minhas posições favoritas são baseadas neste jogo dele de guarda fechada.... grande conteúdo para o seu canal... oss.
Whatever straight on closed guard offers, moving it off to an angle makes it far easier. When I can barely move my opponent when they take good posture, I can always uproot them when I move off to the side just a little.
Why don’t more people use the closed side guard in mma? It makes a lot of sense. You’re definitely offline when it comes to getting hit and you have a lot of options.
@@iancoughlan5 That I understand. It isn’t really a position I would wanna just camp out in but it would more or less just be the first step to taking someone’s back for me or avoiding getting hit. Or even temporary control. Like the first step in a transition. If that makes sense.
What I admire about Bernardo is that even tho he’s a elite fighter, he listen as a white belt.
@Asher Brayden ok
Xande's passion and teaching style are a real gift to the BJJ community
I like that Xande always makes Bernardo do the move
Roger Gracie uses this also. Just saw an interview where he was discussing this. If Roger and Xande are doing it, probably something to look into.

Saulo and Xande are jiu-jitsu-jitsu geniuses.
SO POWERFUL...
And this is with the guard closed. You can modify to a "butterfly" too and role the opponent over. That's awesome.
Xande Ribeiro seems like a great guy. Awesome guard concept, thank you.
I think this is how Bernardo reacts when he's truly impressed. Bernardo is great.
Knew this was going to be gold and I wasn't disappointed 👍🏻
When you finally hit the move in class and ur teacher gets hype AF 8:17
"YEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHH BOOOM"
“YEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZ RIGHT TO MOUNT.”

4:13 side closed guard

Great!
Wow this is awesome
By instinct I am getting in that guard all the time, specially against younger and stronger guys.
dominant positions within CG: side closed guard, clamp, & toplock
@STELLAR MELLAR side closed guard & high guard? Where can I watch these variations you're describing?
@@samuelj.s3955 the matrix 😎
Thank you for this! i have been losing this position because they always get their arm back.
Interesting concepts by Xande, and just when I got to get comfortable using grips... now am tempted to get comfortable not using grips!
I live in side guard. Best spot on the bottom.
artista how dies it goes no gi ?
Same here. At a new gym now and people don know what to do with it. You can crawl all over people like a spider.
albusai still works. Sometimes tougher to t into. Some good chokes available though
any update on when this wil be out?
watched this video for more than the 10th time but can't practice on anyone due to covid and dummies don't react.
when will this be available? I have played with side guard ever since I saw Xande use it in adcc and have had luck with it. want to learn more!

I used it in my most recent fight. I think in general when people are in closed guard in mma they just want to stand

is this the same position as gordon and danaher teach as the side scissor on their closed guard instructionals?
