Which one is your fav??
my fave is the 3rd one!!!!! you guys are so cute and such rascals for not telling us !! very clever. xo
@@penniauster4898 haha gotta keep you guys in suspense! 😘😘😘
Mom and I think it’s the last one!
I’m leaning toward the last one!
#5 guy’s looks amazing 😍 perfect 👌 for you chicos
The last one is a banger are you serious 🤩🤯 so beautiful I love the bonus loft space on the 2nd floor
Riiiiight??
Yes! I'm so glad UA-cam recommended this channel. I'm also looking to move to Merida, so this was so helpful ❤️
Oh good! Glad you found us!
I have four more years before I retire planning to rent my properties here and relocate to Mexico Merida matzatlan and ajijic on the top of my list
Me too! We are looking into San Pancho & checking out the carribean and gulf sides of the Yucatan. We live on Gulf of Mexico in Florida so we will try both coasts in Mexico then decide where to settle down. ♡
The 5th place had a really nice feel, modern but not stark. I loved the extra space upstairs with the sleeper couch. I liked the private outdoor space off the living room, and the kitchen was very inviting.
Awww Man! I wanted to find out! Yes, introduce us to your realtor!
We'll definitely try and get her on camera this week!
Hey boys welcome to Mexico. We too are nomadic travels me and my husband have been traveling for 4 years. We too are from Cali as in Sacramento. So nice to see another interracial couple experiencing a new way of life. By the way love your brand name. We spent some time in Merida this time last year. We’re currently in San Miguel De Allende and will be here in Mexico until May of 2021. We’re still looking for a place to call home. Look forward to hearing more of your experiences in Merida because that was a contender for us as well. Stay safe and hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful.
Oh thanks so much for watching! And sounds like you guys have had some amazing adventures! We definitely want to explore other cities in Mexico - let us know where you end up!
Wow can I dm you? i am currently in Sactown looking to move in the summer.
@@oliviabrown261 sure no problem look forward to chatting.
Great video guys I love to see your channel growing. We're subscribed, tuned in and watching your adventures! Best wishes!
Ah thanks so much!
I agree that lots of lighting and walkable neighborhoods are important. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I wish you two the best 🧡
1st place reminds me of SF when I moved here in 1990 and it was still funky. Congrats on finding such a cool spot on this big blue marble.
haha thanks!!
Love your videos !...Thanks for all the tips.
I'm so happy for you guys. We're also an interracial gay couple from Los Angeles. I'm Johnny 61, and my partner Johann 46 married 5 years. We have talked about Merida, and exploring moving that way. We are enjoying following your journey, and wishing you the best.
Johnny and Johann🙆♂️
That's so great! Yeah, it seems to be super LGBT friendly so far - we're going to wait a bit before making a video on that (feels a bit early to proclaim anything one way or another about life here) but thanks so much for watching and we'll keep you posted!
@@TravelWTravis Thanks so much for your response. We're very low key, and always wanted to live in another country. Looking to get into the culture, and enjoy the beauty of the city. We are old school gays. Lol!. Haven't been to a bar in years. I'm Johnny 61, Black and Puertorican. My first language is Spanish, and my partner. Johann 46, white. Wishing you both continued success, and happiness. We're both enjoying your journey,
Johnny and Johann / Los Angeles 👍🙆♂️
@@TravelWTravis that's too bad because a healthy society should shun LGBTQ as it's degenerate and deviant, bad for society 😢
Omg new subscriber!!! You guys are so awesome .I’m going for 2,4 & 5 definitely leaning toward the 5th one , can’t wait till next week☺️
Yes! Thanks so much for watching and subscribing Sarah!! Can’t wait to show everyone next Thursday!
Hey guys. Welcome to Merida. You'll love it. We chose a small town nearby, but scoot to Merida couple of times a month for shopping. Mexico is a fantastic place and the Yucatan is extra special. The people here are wonderful and will go the extra mile to help you.
They really are incredible! Thanks so much for watching!
You guys are great 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Thanks for sharing GUYS 🙂
Hey y’all!! Thank you for the video, I’m at work right now, planning my trip for February. I’m so excited
So soon! Thanks for watching and safe travels!
Coffee and milk, very clever. Good luck to you guys, and be safe 👍
You guys are fantastic. Glad this came up in my suggested. I’m looking at either Merida or Queretaro, but I’m somewhat disappointed that every video of Merida I see on UA-cam shows ultra modern apartments that basically all have the exact style, which is nice, but I’m looking for something with more Mexican character.
Out of these, I think you chose #5. 👏👏
We live in a Mexican neighborhood in merida. Not a gated community or near expats. We have a nice three bedroom furnished for 4000 pesos
#5 guy’s looks amazing 😍 perfect 👌 for you chicos
I just started looking for apartments and prices have definitely increased since this video was made...as a matter of fact one of those rentals is online! These places are so nicely built but go so fast; you really need to focus on what features you're looking for and take emotion out to make the best decision...pretty hard here. Where I'm from your faced with limited, tiny, expensive, ugly options and the landlord decides of they want you...here the winner is who pays first
I loved all 5 of them! They each had great qualities. The very last place with the sky light....is the place I would choose. Adios 😊
Taking a break from my packing and delighted to see your latest vlog! My list is similar. As plant mama, loads of natural light is a must like Travis. A pool is also on my “nice to have” column ‘cause I’m staying the house too lol. Looking forward to see which you chose! All the best!
Depending on your budget, it's definitely doable!
Thanks for the great insights. I am planning on moving with my Company.
Love your videos... Take care of yourselves!
Oh man. So beautiful. I love them all
#5 ! Great outdoor space and good light.
I love, love, love the old colonial houses in Merida! The outside is so misleading. It looks like a small place on outside then you walk in an wow! The place we stay in Puerto Vallarta is the same. It’s Hacienda San Angel. I’ve never seen bathrooms in the walk in closets. Works great though! So many great options y’all have!
You guys are great! Such a unique style and realism. Love the add ins of what most what Tubers would consider outtakes. I would like to know a couple things. How was the air travel experience and how you found the 5 rentals and the fees associated besides a monthly rent . The kit and caboodle! Thanks!
Aw thanks Julie! The flights here were what we were most nervous about due to Covid, however we had N95 masks on the whole time (didn't eat or drink) and thankfully it all worked out. We found the rentals through our broker, who we met after responding to a listing we saw on vivanuncios.com.mx. As far as the fees, they vary for everyone, but we're going to go into all that in this week's video, so stay tuned!!
Hi Guys!! Welcome to the Yucatan!
I absolutely looooove your channel. Bienvenidos a Merida, Yucatan!
Aw thanks Eli!!! Lo amamos aquí!
My fave was the first one, but I’m a sucker for those Spanish colonials, and Centro. The mamposteria walls help keep the house cooler and you can always make the second bedroom the main one and get a sofa. 😉 Can’t wait to see what you chose!
I know - the high ceilings were incredible and it's true how the older construction really keeps the temperatures down! It was such a tough choice!
Merida was too hot and humid for me in 1963, so I took my first pland ride to DF to get out of Merida. I did like Isla Mujeres.
I chose #3. Now going to watch the video of your choice.
Honestly you don’t need an oven, just get a big toaster oven. They’re smaller and easier to clean.
Omg, I’m in love with the last one. I wanna move in now, 😭😭
I’m here!! Today will be my first day looking at homes. I’m Soooooooo excited!!!!
Amazing! Let us know if you want to use our realtor (send us an email at cafeconlechevideos@gmail.con and we’ll send you her contact info - she was the best)
@@TravelWTravis uhm yessss absolutely. Emailing now. And I hope you picked the last one!!!! 😩😩😩
Hey. :) let me know if you got my email.
@@MANGOBOMBSQUISHIES we did and emailed back - did you not get it?
Good luck. You'll love the place.
You Teases! Lol I loved the last one. Lol.
OMG, my wife and I absolutely love you guys!!! We just binged watched all....5 of your videos :). Would you believe, we are currently in contract on a house in Centro and will be moving to Merida as soon as we sell our house in Florida. So please, please stay there for a while so we can get together. My wife is a 6' tall Latina who can handle all your Spanish speaking needs. Look forward to meeting you guys!!!! Stay safe and be well. Cheers, Arthur & Marcia Wilhelm
Haha amazing! Good luck with the sale and let us know when you guys get here!! (Hopefully by then our Spanish will be a little less embarrassing 😬🙃🤞🏼)
Love 3, 4 and 5. 5 was my favorite tho.
Lol! Great video, guys. You chose the last one of course. However, I would hustle to make enough money to stay in the house you're in now. I love that house! You're doing a wonderful job with these videos. It's really fun to follow your adventure.
Haha thanks!! And yeah, we like the house we’re in but the place we ended up with feels a lot more home-y to us 😊
@@TravelWTravis Awesome! Can't wait to see it once you're in. Also, how is your Spanish?
Love your video’s guys 😃 subscribed
Thanks Britney!
I looooove #4 😍😍😍
3,4 or 5 but leaning towards 5
The last one is my favorite!!
Ours too!!
Thinking of moving to Merida from L.A. Planning an initial trip in January 2023. Can you tell me which neighborhoods are the quietest, but with access to a market and transportation. Thanks so much. Love your videos, they are very helpful.
I’d pick number 1....but I love that character in a place ....betting you chose #5
I believe you chose the last one. 😁
all of them are supper nice ofcuerse the last one is nicer because the pool ect cet
What type of camera are you using to film?
The last one
Yes the food is fresher in Mexico.Im A whole food junkie but when I visited the States it didnt seem as fresh.Living in Merida is the bomb.
Third! But with kids, I’d go for the last :).
haha, yeah that play area would be super convenient
Merida seems super nice, but not sure I can give up the beautiful beaches at Puerta Vallarta.
Where were you guys at the end, sitting outside talking. Been to Mérida many times but don’t recognize that location.
Great content! Definitely got a new subscriber here!
Oh thanks Jason! It’s a spot in Temezon Norte
Tough decision! Great video guys...
Thanks Robert!
Do you have a realtor you can suggest? My wife and I are visiting in a few weeks to scope out a home
I love the 5th apt. I what is the name of them
Love your channel!!Good luck in Mexico 🇲🇽.Side note... did I just see you guys in a Uber Eats commercial😀🤔
Hahah yes you did!
Hi guys I love your chat and I'm wondering do you guys still like living in Merida? I hear it's really hot
and there are a lot of bugs. I initially thought I would start living there before moving around but not after I heard about those issues.
It is very hot and there are lots of creatures 🙃 We do still like it, but it's definitely not for everyone!
How can you be sure the neighborhood is quiet? That's super important to me too.
One of the one the reasons I'm moving out of my current apartment is because it doesn't get a lot of natural light, so I completely understand saying no any apt. that lacks it. I'm solar-powered, so natural light is essential.
I am really thinking of retiring in Merida. I want to come visit in November 🥰
Do it! Nov is the perfect time to come - just definitely also visit when it’s hot + rainy to make sure you’re good with the weather year-round!!
It is not longer the American dream…It's the Mexican dream!!!
Miss you guys on my wayyy to Merida 7/23! Wonder what your place rents for now???? ❤
that first place was so cute.
It was! Super charming, right?
I think that you chose the last one. Apartment #4 and 5 were my favs. Don't know how y'all are going to choose.
Right?? It was tough!
I'm voting for the 3rd, also
Seems to be the fan favorite so far!
3!!!
Ohhh u got me... guess I’ll be tuning in next week lol 😂
Another great video❤️
Our pick would be apt # 5, nothing needed but your suitcase and a swimming pool for under $900. We will be out there house hunting in February, what neighborhood was #5 in?
Riiiight? That was also in Temezon Norte! We can send you our realtor's info if you like - she was *wonderful*!
Yes please!!!! Your realtors info would be greatly appreciated 😊
My choice would be number 5.
#3 for me!
That seems to be the crowd favorite!
Could you do a video about the different neighbourhoods in Merida? I'm curious to know the vibe, demographic, nightlife, walkability and amenities Inn each of them.
Yes, we’re definitely working on that!
@@TravelWTravis 👌🏿 exactly what I need
Hi Guys, I might have missed something but why did you move from Centro to North Merida? How is it not having a car?
We could get a bigger place in the North and it just worked for us. Not having a car has been fine - sometimes Uber/Didis take a while to come, but you just have to be patient. We'll trade waiting a bit for having to drive any day of the week!
#3
I'm a simple guy who doesn't need all the bells and whistles but the 5th apartment blew me away. Why doesn't my home look like that?
i will be moving there once i get my financial situation straight, almost there, where would you recommend centrally located for shopping, medical and fruit market?
Congrats! We recommend starting in Centro and then exploring the rest of the city to see what area clicks with you!
@@TravelWTravis What areas would you guys recommend? I have a budget of 1200.00. But I don't go out drinking.
If you come across Sunset Studios…keep on going.
5
Hey Guys, where did you find the apartments? Did you use a realtor? If so which one? :) thank you
We did use a realtor and we’ll be featuring her on next week’s video!
What location was that 2nd place you visited?
That was up in the north - one of the montes we believe (it's been a while!)
3rd one...
Can someone help me with a website were i can look for apartments?
We used www.vivanuncios.com.mx and www.inmuebles24.com (and if you're looking for a short-term vacation rental or to buy in Merida, check out meridaproperties.com.mx - that's who we used for our first place!)
I want to come hang out with you two.
I love my Queretaro furnished apartment that includes all utilities, maid and security for 14k and after 14 months it is 15k per month. The fall in the USA dollar makes my rent chang each month, since I pay out of my \usa debit card.
Are rent prices still roughly the same? Or were prices low at the time due to COVID? Where would you recommend one searches for listings? I find AirBnB will always be overpriced.
We definitely think they've gone up a bit since we made this! We used www.vivanuncios.com.mx to find a broker (as the listings themselves aren't always accurate) and then our broker Edna took us around. (We made a video here with her if you'd like her contact info! ua-cam.com/video/aT9VZcApA3Q/v-deo.html)
@@TravelWTravis thanks so much. For the quick response. 🙏🏾
One more question, is there much of a black community there?
@@sarahgordino6695 Yep, there are definitely a good amount of black expats in Mérida (which is one of the reasons we came here!)
How long did it take you to look for an apartment? How long did you spend in Merida before deciding to move there? We are thinking about it.
It took about a week, but we had our first rental for a month so we didn't have to rush it!
You choose number 5!
Haha you’ll have to see next week!
Great Video!
#saturdaymorningbagels
#youtubequarantinetravels
#January2021
DAME I AM MOVING THERE
I'm coming from the future. I already know which one you chose 😂😂😂
😂👏😂
Can you link me to your realtor please I loved the last 3
Check out the video where we interview her - her info is below! But make sure to watch so you can know what to expect (and what she expects from her clients!)
I was leaning towards #1 but then #5 took the lead.
Haha right?? It was a tough choice!
I leaned toward 1 because of the private pool, that IS NOT right next to the kiddos play area like # 5!! Put a nice BBQ grill outside and extend that little kitchen! Get some egg crate foam & soundproof that 2nd room... lol, they were all nice! I know you from The Terrell Show & your Christmas commercial YAY!!!
Are there any places with actual bath tubs? All of the videos I’ve seen from you and other expats only show restroom with showers.
Haha yes, we just didn’t make that a priority (which is wild because Travis is *obsessed* with bathtubs). It’s not common but it’s definitely possible - you just have to hunt for them!
Numbr 5🇮🇹
So cute
Re A/C what is the cost of electricity.
Ours is very inexpensive (even though we run the AC a bunch) and comes to about $10/month. We've heard horror stories though of it being much, much more and genuinely don't understand how or why ours is so low / other people's is so high 🤷♂️
How did you find rentals to view there?
We found a broker through a local rental website. We made a video with her if you want to hear more! ua-cam.com/video/aT9VZcApA3Q/v-deo.html
@@TravelWTravis Thank you ❤️
I don’t care about fancy, just clean.
Whst are you doing for health insurance
We made a whole video about it - we don't use insurance here, as paying for services is much more affordable (for us) than in the States
Can I get the information for the apartments please
These are probably long gone by now, but you can reach out to our realtor whose info is in the comments if you’re here and looking for a place!
