I will be looking to purchase our first full-time family cruiser Catamaran early next year, with cash. I live in Melbourne, Australia. So I don't know if it is possible or not to assist us in our purchase being from 2 different continents. I have heard of ppl getting what they are after this way and paying for a captain to sail it to them, I'm not sure if you cater for this type of sale?!
Cervetti DuFour hasn’t reimbursed on warranty. Leaves a bad taste in the owner’s mouth. We bought a boat from IyachtClub. We didnt want a bareboat situation because we wanted her (our boat) to be taken care of. We opted for a fully crewed experience with hopes that it would be taken care of, as we were informed the boat would be better taken care of with a managed crew. Nobody twisted our arm to put it with Derek Hunsinger. It was our own decision and below are just a few situations that came about while under their management. Kinda quickly we saw red flags on wrong charges, misc fees, maintenance, crew, but gave Derek Hunsinger the benefit of fixing them, however even with statements of him somewhat saying that he will make this right we were let down again and again. We incurred charge after charge of over 20k in warranty issues due to Derek Hunsinger charging us for warranty on a brand new boat. Yet, the factory should of been charged. We are still waiting on that situation to be resolved. We own a company and how we handle warranty is simply, we dont charge the customer. If its warranty then we will put in the claim and handle the cost ourselves so that we can then be reimbursed by the factory. Thats how warranty should of been handled. You know it was close to the third month of ownership when we found out Derek Hunsinger with IyachtClub didnt put in claims to the factory. Kinda felt like an open wallet to be a part of IyachtClub. That was the feeling. That was our feeling. Perhaps youd do better. We let Derek Hunsinger go and have placed her with a beautiful new management company. Its a night and day difference and we are grateful to of found the new management company. Crew took pictures of our boat on charter yet she wasnt on the books for charter. Had I not seen the Facebook posts of her sailing and Chef photographing food then I wouldnt of known she went out on charter. I texted Chef and his response was to the tune of I thought you knew or something in relation to that. Funny how everyone kept us in the dark and lack of communication sure didnt help. Over thirty broken glasses on two charters, new items being purchased without our knowledge and those items quickly disappeared without our knowledge. Our items traded with other boats. We wouldnt of minded except they disappeared. To date Derek Hunsinger has not come through on statements. This is an opinion from a yacht owners perspective who bought a boat from Derek Hunsinger and placed it in his management crewed fleet. You may have a better chance but we did not. Feel free to reach out to us direct if youre in the market for news on a yacht manager, yacht and crew help, guests or simply what toys to buy to keep everyone happy. We are an open book because we want to help future yacht owners. You can even take a look at the accounts to see how it was managed.-
Hi Dufour Cat, this is somewhat unrelated to the video, but nonetheless, I am so sorry to hear about your issues with IYacht. Unfortunately we have heard similar stories from others. Let me be frank, this is a tough business and unless you have a solid management company, it can be a bad experience. My suggestion is that you interview other companies and owners in the fleet before you commit. We have done this for a long time and our owners are taken care of, always - by the factory for warranty and by the charter company. We choose our partner charter companies carefully. Our clients always come first. Don’t let one or two companies spoil the experience for you!
Hi , I am interested with Ipanema 58 but i wonder why they stop production of that type. My other interest Bali 5.4 and sunreef 58-62 ( max 2015 ) . I dont know buying a used one or get a new bali 5.4. I like bali 5.4 and wahtched your video about surfing but aft area is very small for adding a table for eating outside.
HI Murat, Fp has updated their range and the Ipanema is an older model, so its discontinued. They are great boats though and many of our current owners love them. We have a fairly good source for used Ipanemas if you are interested. The Bali, is a great boat!!! I cannot stress that enough. There is a table on the front deck for out door dining, a huge table in the salon and two tables on the top deck for out door dining. I will post a proper walk though of my boat shortly and I will point out all of these things.
Very curious how COVID has impacted the used catamaran market. Are boat still chartered large scale? Are charterers facing cash flow issues due to COVID impact...?
@@philzail2532 we found that a lot of new blue water boat buyers are people who sold their houses and are moving onto sailboats to go sailing for extended periods. Covid has really made people rethink their goals. They seem to want to invest in a quality life with their families, even if it is downscaled from a luxury lifestyle on land.
@@Catamaranguru well my point is international sailing has been minimized not coastal. You're somewhat defining me, LOL. Recent retired but on a smaller budget.
MrGentlebutfirm Terry and Dena realized after the circumnavigation that they really wanted to live on a catamaran rather than a monohull. While they still sail often offshore, they don’t intend to do a circumnavigation in the near future again. It has nothing to do with the safety of a cat.
Hmm .. I will disagree here. There is a discount for older boats relating to wear and tear and not being modern in design. Then you have all the additional systems and equipment. How old? How well installed? Big discount and better install quality if you can do it right yourself!

Hans, sales has been very strong. Recreational craft in general has been off the charts this season.
I think at the blue water level, there has been an impact. The boat market is large on a domestic level and they may actually be doing better.

Hi Terry, would you avoid circumnavigating on your current 450?
MrGentlebutfirm I would absolutely do a circumnavigation in my 450. It is a well built boat and many cruisers have already done so.
@@Catamaranguru But it came through that you preferred the Amel Super Mararu for the circumnavigation.. Or?

All boats cost the same.... best advice I have ever heard!
Tom McConlogue you, like many of us, know that so well! 😜
