In Germany we have a saying: you buy cheap, you buy twice. Lot of truth to it.

First of thanks for sharing. You are my favorite sailing channel, by far. I am getting closer to getting my first Cat and have saved a bunch of videos with tips, but have not yet reviewed them all to create a bullet point list of what to and not to do. This is a great summary, and most of the items you highlighter were on my action list to address at time of purchase, so I could layout a budget to upgrade or repair over the 1st year as I get my sea legs. Fortunatley I live in Florida so access to some of the best parts, provides and services is fairly easy. BTW, your coffee is GREAT!

Finally after reading "Catamarans" by Gregor Tarjan, have settled on a cat. I will be buying one.

Hi, and congratulations for your anniversary. Regarding the Code 0 and the Parasailor question I have both my Lagoon 400 S2. When you referred your troubles on furling the code 0, I noticed in the footage that the hallyard was not tensioned enough. I have the same problem if I try to furl the code 0 without tensioning very hardly the hallyard. The anti-torsion rope that is on the sail must be fully tensioned to work. Sometimes it is good to slacken it a bit when sailing but we always have to fully tension it again prior to furling. Fair winds!

You have provided a LOT of great information in this episode and others. IMO, one of the best, however, was from one of your uncles, in another episode, who pointed out that advancing age will direct you towards a motor yacht. How true!!! Your no BS approach is appreciated.
Uncle Tom? Yes, wise man. And he's right, most all of us end up with a motorboat eventually....if we are lucky. Maybe ours will be electric!
