I would just like to thank you for allowing us to spend time with your Lovely Family, My 3 children are all grown and out in the world creating their own family memories to look back on in years to come, I unfortunately was in a bad Motorcycle accident in 2012 ( The driver of the van coming the other way at us was texting while driving a full size van ) I lost a leg and shattered 4 vertebra in my spine leaving me with very limited walking abilities and just not a great life for an active person like me. My wife Passed away from cancer just 18 months ago ,so I spend my time living and traveling like we used to do with kind people like you and your family. it makes all the difference in the world as far as a life of complete depression and one where I smile and chuckle a lot watching people like you, Thanks again, Please be safe and I'll be watching . . . . Ed from Shirley Long Island, N.Y.
It's cool that you're talking openly about your budget. Most people would be too scared of internet backlash to do it. I think it's actually useful information as it kind of helps to let you know what the possibilities are
billiondollardan I think the difference comes if people are relying on income from patreon and UA-cam. If the boaters are independently wealthy and not “e-begging” people don’t really care.
Agreed but I know where it's coming from. The US in particular has their worst wealth disparity for 100 years. It leads to the kind of resentment that can lead to worse. We can all shake our heads at a few internet trolls but there is a very serious problem and every solution gets calls socialism by right wingers.
John, I grew up poor - in the 50s. Being poor today is nothing like being poor was in the 50s. So, basically, I've been there, done that, couldn't afford the t-shirt. I have no real sympathy for people who complain they're poor today when they would have been rich in the time and place I grew up.
Its Hump Day June 12, 2024, and I felt led to go back and watch the adventure of buying the Catamaran again. It's been really amazing watching your family grow up out there on the water, and I hope your new endeavors keep growing on.... Love your channel from southern Indiana USA.
I found your channel a week ago and have been binge watching when i have the chance. I'm up to episode 38 and had to jump ahead to see your cat. Beautiful boat! Such a wonderful opportunity for your kids to see the world and its great to see them appreciating the cruising life more. Your improvement as sailors is remarkable after only a year. I'm sure the new Zatara will keep you safe and happy for the many sails to come. Fair winds and fun times!
I didn’t either. It seems like there are *so many* boats! But I feel like I understand the process a lot better after watching your journey. When you live it and figure out what you really want, that narrows the field dramatically. So interesting to see how you worked through it.
So wonderful to see such a beautiful family "living the life." Lots of genuine smiles and a healthy approach to life. I'm sure it's not all wine and roses 24/7, but you guys are doing it! Thanks for sharing.
Gordy, the store is run by our teenagers, and instead of requesting donations via Patreon etc, we wish to offer you merchandise for your goodwill towards our video production efforts. To reply to your other comment about "trust funders," Keith has explained in Episode 8 (ua-cam.com/video/-0lGD1uCSDw/v-deo.html) how he worked very hard and saved for many years in order to live out this dream.
Why not do something more productive with your day than bash this family who has worked hard for years and are able to reap the rewards of hard work, big risks, and smart business decisions? As far as me living on food stamps and welfare? That gave me a good laugh and I'm sure gave Renee a good giggle too. hahaha. FWIW, I've purchased a ZGear tshirt and hat and have more cute things on my wish list. I love that the kids run the shop and are learning real world business skills. Nobody is forcing you to buy any ZGear... you can still watch and complain for free!
I shouldn't be, but this posting is living proof the internet has brought out the worst the USA and other countries have to offer. I was enjoying the video until I decided to check out some comments. What a bunch of ugly and failure in life people that hang out just to pounce on the keys since they have nothing else going on in their miserable lives. Anyway, thanks for the transparency in buying the boat, as my dad once told me, having a range of boats in his lifetime, the famous saying, " a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into", or something along those lines. It's just a matter of perception if the returns in life experiences were worth the investment and hassle, I think in this case it will be worth it. I can say that being removed from what you folks had to go through in the beginning, but I get it. Looking forward to your further adventures.
Wow-what a small world iI know this cat from Kos , kefalols , Greece. My family is from there and use to see this boat ever year. Great to see the love you guys have put into it, all the best
Thank you so much for the honest and transparent video. It's a breath of fresh air. Very excited to have found your channel. Looking forward to following your adventures. The time and effort put into the the filming and editing is top notch. I can appreciate the long hours and commitment. Please keep up the great work.
My wife and I have been building our farm, orchard, vineyard with sawmill for the last 12 years. We have an adventure every day. I’ve been watching you guys for a long time because even though I do not sail, it cleanses my soul and clears my head to see others chasing their dreams too. There is so much more to life than working to pay bills to pay for stuff you really don’t need. I wish everyone could wake up every morning and do what they love, like we do. It can be done, you just have to make a plan, save your money and then go for it with everything you have. Excellent job guys. L.Wilson, U.S. Army, Ret.
😊Yes, I like your openness regarding expenses and costs. I think your patience was very impressive regarding waiting for the right boat and issues with the rigging and licensing. You are to be commended!❤
Keith, we find your videos informative and entertaining. Thank you for the efforts and for the lack of “fakeness”. Keep up the good work and we all hope things with the new boat work out. We are awaiting delivery of our Leopard 50 and will be following our own dream soon. Until then we enjoy watching your adventures with the family!
Keith & Renee - your channel is far and away the best sailing channel on YT, as you are a real family, not the young couple and their dog, so you get to experience real life situations. Yes, I'm biased because we have 6 kids too, and they absolutely make our day. Oh and the sailing is just great to see....can't wait to see you sailing the new boat. Thanks.

Omg!! My father was born in Samos, Greece!! We have a beautiful beach house there! I just discovered your sons TikTok and now your family UA-cam channel…such an amazing life you are living with your children! What a dream! Stay safe and I look forward to watching more videos!!!
Just got turned onto y’all recently and love watching your journey. I’m in North Richland Hills, so feel like I can relate. Had a heart attack in January and recovered nicely, praise God, but ever since I’ve been pulled to wanting a boat to live aboard with my family. Appreciate your videos, they make me feel this life I’m being pulled towards is actually possible. 😎❤️🙏🏼
I’m a monohull girl, but I adore your family so I’m forgiving the cat 😂. Seriously that boat will fit your family so much better and my guess is you’re going to see everyone chill out easier with all that extra space!
Yes indeed, thumbs up to that. Great to see you back, now have better understanding of the delay in acquiring the new boat, a great video folks and your candid comments on the finances and details over purchase a fascinating insight, looking forward to the next one!
Y’all have come so far. Thanks for sharing your buying experience. You didn’t say the final price you paid including the new standing rigging, but if you got it for $500k I’d consider that a darn good deal. Absolutely beautiful family and the boats not bad either😉 Cheers! Ted
I have watched every episode 3 or 4 times now. They never have said what they paid other than saying it was more than what they wanted to spend. I am betting it was between 7 and 800k. I have looked at them for over a year and have not found one under 800k.
Seen how a family change, now is 2023 and this video Jack look like Finn now. It nice see how was everything when Anna was in boat. Hope see you many year to come.
I have done a lot of boating in my life but never on a sailboat. You guys are making me want to sail. Thanks for the wonderful videos! Best channel on UA-cam!
This was the first video that came up in my suggestions, and the first one I watched. I've now binge watched all of them. SV Seeker got me watching boat building videos, and from there I'm watching all the major building channels (Life on the mold BTW, if you want to see a cat being built). I've been waiting for any of those guys to get a boat in the water to see what it's like after the build. I feel like you guys have filled that void for me. Excellent production value, so much that I think some of my more picky family would enjoy your videos similar (but better) to how they watch HGTV (ugh). It's sad to reach the end of the current supply of videos, but I'm looking forward to having another channel that I have to catch up on as soon as they are released. I could go on, but I'll just say thanks for all the hard work and keep it up!
🔶Jack Re 7:07 use a detangler brush, hold your hair from the top and start brush out from the bottom to upwards. Once the hair is smooth, which happens quickly then you can brush or comb it out. I have experience and yours is better quality looking than mine. 🔷Another thought: You can get a stylist to cut it in a way that you can keep it long, but so that it falls into place without bothering you no matter if you comb, brush, or run your fingers through it The fullcut baldness was ruinous, but you do look like one of those varsity swimmers after that.
Having a great family and being successful/lucky (lottery) can make life such an amazing experience. I hope one day I can have both and/or one of these. Life is so hard now but it is good to see someone happy.
Hey! Do what you have to do until you can do what you want to do. Check out Keith’s Z-Log about money (2 was ago), it explains how we can afford to buy the boat. Cheers!
@@SailingZatara Hi there, could you possibly post a link to Keith's Z-Log about money, mentioned above? It would be most helpful, thanks in advance and I love your channel!
Your son's haircut was SOOOOOOO brave. Good for him. Beautiful boat. With the size of your family this really looks like the best choice. Good luck going forward.
hahaha just been bingeing on your documentaries- what a lifestyle! Jack doing the hair flip funniest thing hahaha. Good on you guys, enjoy every moment!
Man I love watching this family enjoying life and having the better things in life and I want to sail but it's a little discouraging because everything seems so insanely expensive. But I'm glad this family is having a great life. Have fun guys. 🤗
Renee & Keith are SO much kinder here than I would be! People suggesting they are trust fund babies and that's how they make this work? It's sad that nobody assumes it's from hard work, big risks, and successful business decisions (because that's how they made this possible). I know there's always trolls but KUDOS to Keith & Renee for rising above it. You're a bigger man/woman than I could be on the regular!
Wow...Renee... You have become such a good video producer...I guess it helps to have such a great story to tell. Continued best wishes for blue skies and following seas. Let it float away 🤙
I'm so jealous of your lifestyle and think it's great that your family has decided that family relationships and closeness is more important than the normal dad and mom going to their 9-5 jobs and missing out on the kids lives. Before you know it life has passed you by and you are left shaking your head wondering where it all went. My prayers are with you all and I'm excited to see where the winds will take you all in the future...God speed and God bless!!!
just had a boat surveyed and go back to florida oct 1st 2020 to close on our 2004 hunter so we can see you on the water!!! came back to this video to help understand the buying process. love the videos and keep it up!!
This was the first episode I've watched. What a beautiful family!!! Can't wait to go back and watch the earlier episodes and looking forward to future episodes. My wife and I plan to someday make the move to live on a boat. I'll just live vicariously through you guys for now....lol Great Job!! Thank You!!!
I cannot wait for next episode.. i got huge smile on my face.. wow.. congratulation on ur new boat.. its worthed wait this long.. does the name never change?
I'm glad this is finally coming together for you guys.....must have been very stressful for everyone, especially for Renee and Keith. You've found a great family vessel and you all seem to like her.....I know I surely do.....
Hi guys, I am from Romania, a country where we do not even dare to dream of a life like yours. I am very happy to have found you in a world of viral nonsense and I want to tell you that your films are food for my soul hungry for life. You have the most beautiful family a man can hope for in a lifetime, thank you for sharing your precious moments with us. I don't want to end this comment before I tell you that I'm so sorry Jack got a haircut. I'm sorry for my poor English.
Wow, living the dream. You need my wife and I. I speak pretty good Greek, she is a RN, we both have merchant mariners license, lol congratulations 🎈 on your beautiful cat.
Sail ing Zatarca wishing you blue skies and fair winds. We are sailing in Bocas del Toro, Panama on our 42’ monohull. Beautiful, safe and hurricane free for surfing, family and eco adventure-education. Great video share. Blessings from SY Infinity.
I noticed on your video for the Atlantic crossing you had the stars and strips on the boat. Did I miss the video where you explained how you finally got the deal closed and changed the boat from a Greek flagged to a US flagged. I do enjoy how honestly you cover subjects such as this. Great sailing !
You seems to know how to stick handle your way through a variety of details in the buying process. There is no shortage of these. I commend you on your patience in dealing with these hurdles.
Just found this page and am flabbergasted you don't have more subs. Felt like I was watching a cable tv show. Will be going back and watching old episodes to catch up!
New to your channel - love your show! We are in the process of buying a Lagoon 440 - with Solomon drives(!!) - and will hopefully connect one day with you. Our channel will be up (we hope) in August. Fair winds, new friends!
Love!!! You are our first real subscriber - taking your name down to give you some props when we get our channel going. Guess what? We put the offer in today for the Cat. Our fingers, toes, and paws (well, the paws belong to Sparky, our dog) are crossed that the offer is accepted. THANK YOU FOR SUBBING!!
Glad you are "almost" back on the water. Great video. Love the "repair" segments, as well as the general logistics of your new adventure. Please continue the great work, and even the little details such as "flag delete" would be great to hear more about. Those of us stuck on dry land (for now) would benefit from the knowledge of the process, that you could share. Congrats on all...
Just wanted to say, just recently started following you guys just to come across this video... I travel to samos every summer to see family! It’s so crazy that of all places in the world you found your home in samos!!! Να είσαι καλά!
Wow, a great fun and learning adventure for the entire family. I'll bet it was a great experience. God bless you and thank you for sharing. What kind of work does mom and dad do? Love the hair cut scene. What a great group of youngsters. Great children from awesome parents. Incredible way to learn about boats and the world around you. This is how a family makes memories.
i have been bed ridden for 2 years youre videos make me feel i was there with you . you dont know the joy it brings me . god bless you and may all youre sailing be joyous be ware of vaccines they are maiming alot of children .
Thanks for being open about the costs. We are cruising on a budget of $500 a month on an old monohull and we often wonder what it would cost to be in a spacious modern cat! Usually we anchor to save money, but we are now in the Azores where it is really cheap (€5 a day to be on the hard) so we are getting some upgrades taken care of.
This is my dream! I am also from Montana. My dad took me sailing when I was a teenager and I have been dreaming of sailing around the world ever since. Maybe one day my family (husband and 4 kids!) will follow in your foot steps…or wake, as the case may be.
Glad you found a boat you like. Anyone with nasty comments about your budget needs to chill out. It's the reward for having a successful career and I'm sure a lot of hard work. My boss from my last job retired and sold her restaurant. She was 75 and had worked her butt off her whole life. Usually out in 80-100 hours a week and waited tables and bartended at her own bar. Best boss I've ever had and I'm 51. Her ex husband had died and she met a really nice guy that had his own money and his own Trimaran.. she bought a catamaran about 50 ft and they have been sailing all over the Caribbean and Bahamas ever since. They take a break in winter and live at his house in the Daytona beach area
Z Crew, So happy for you guys. Prediction: VAT tax in USA in the next 10 years to fund single payer health system. I hope I am wrong but as a retired politician I think the writing is on the wall. VAT tax in Bahamas actually decreased some revenue. The governments answer was to raise the Vat tax even higher. Any way enough of that. Really excited for the next adventure to begin. GOD bless this beautiful family. JC
Politicians always promise a gullible public that they'l gouge the rich to pay for public welfare projects. What they never say is that there aren't enough rich people out there - even if you confiscated everything they have - to pay for a lifetime of free cake and circuses.
I clicked the link thinking "Hey what an interesting UA-cam show, oh these are yachts?" And in the comments of course there's rich people talking about taxes like a disaster and comparing giving poor Americans access to lifesaving healthcare as "cake and circuses."
Check out the costs of the current US health care system vs proposed single payer solutions. Guess what... The single payer solutions are actually, believe it or not, cheaper.www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/7/23/1682312/-Universal-health-care-would-save-17-trillion
So true. Too bad the children below believe their public school leftist progressive indoctrination over using some critical thinking. It isn't enough that Marxists have killed millions and millions of people in multiple tries for utopia.

The fullcut baldness was ruinous, but you do look like one of those varsity swimmers after that.

Lucky kids, your parents provide you good lives and memorable childhoods.
hahaha just been bingeing on your documentaries- what a lifestyle! Jack doing the hair flip funniest thing hahaha. Good on you guys, enjoy every moment!
Kid shaving his head out of practicality earned my thumbs up.
You are giving your children an experience most families o my dream of! Your amazing parents just amazing!
The kid on the sled at 3:54 caught some serious air!!
I saw that too.. an was thinking of saying the same thing...lol * nice catch an thumbs up ...the look on his face says it all...!!!
You guys are awesome. Honest and kind people
Wow...Renee... You have become such a good video producer...I guess it helps to have such a great story to tell. Continued best wishes for blue skies and following seas. Let it float away 🤙
Thank you!
R
I'm so jealous of your lifestyle and think it's great that your family has decided that family relationships and closeness is more important than the normal dad and mom going to their 9-5 jobs and missing out on the kids lives. Before you know it life has passed you by and you are left shaking your head wondering where it all went. My prayers are with you all and I'm excited to see where the winds will take you all in the future...God speed and God bless!!!
Congratulations. Its nice to see the kids happy, everyone smiling!
just had a boat surveyed and go back to florida oct 1st 2020 to close on our 2004 hunter so we can see you on the water!!! came back to this video to help understand the buying process. love the videos and keep it up!!
That Salon area is awesome, that and the beds for the kids will make the world of difference for them.
You guys live a lifestyle that we can only dream of. I hope you all truly appreciate the wonderful opportunity all of you have.
Why not you? It’s your life man go for it
Such an awesome video and family! Sounds like the other offer owner pushed you away to a better boat.

I'm glad this is finally coming together for you guys.....must have been very stressful for everyone, especially for Renee and Keith. You've found a great family vessel and you all seem to like her.....I know I surely do.....
Splendid video and so happy that your lovely family may finally enjoy and relax on board a PRIVILEGE 585 ....

Thanks for giving us a real picture of buying a big boat and what you experienced....
When I'm buying a used catamaran, I'm definitely contacting you! for help and tricks :)
Sail ing Zatarca wishing you blue skies and fair winds. We are sailing in Bocas del Toro, Panama on our 42’ monohull. Beautiful, safe and hurricane free for surfing, family and eco adventure-education. Great video share. Blessings from SY Infinity.
''is taking a while'' ....Welcome to Greece ;)
Living a dream. Keith, you should be thankful for having a supportive wife. Truely the other half of you. God bless team zatara!
Looking good! I hope and think that she'll treat you well.
I noticed on your video for the Atlantic crossing you had the stars and strips on the boat. Did I miss the video where you explained how you finally got the deal closed and changed the boat from a Greek flagged to a US flagged. I do enjoy how honestly you cover subjects such as this. Great sailing !
Great episode...terrific overview of search and buying process (wouldn't mind your frequent flyer points). Look fwd to the next installment 👍

Great to see you back. Wishing you the best great times in the future. What a wonderful experience for your kids.
New to your channel - love your show! We are in the process of buying a Lagoon 440 - with Solomon drives(!!) - and will hopefully connect one day with you. Our channel will be up (we hope) in August. Fair winds, new friends!
Nice! I have added your channel to my list as we speak. I just love all those sailing channels......especially the catamaran channels. :)
What’s best boat for starters if to sail internationaly?
Just wanted to say, just recently started following you guys just to come across this video... I travel to samos every summer to see family! It’s so crazy that of all places in the world you found your home in samos!!! Να είσαι καλά!
Still waiting on the vid about boat brokers.
The corn will be popped for that one!
10:57 aaron paul still breaking bad
What a cool family. Very adventurous! Straight goals right here. Hope you're enjoying that boat right now.
At what point in the video do you actually discuss the costs involved? I cannot find it amidst all the heart-warming family moments...
What a wonderful happy family you have.
So how much was the boat? I couldnt sit through any more.
You guys are still doing it and doing it well, all the best.
Unfortunately, some European "deals" are NOT as represented, additionally, the complexities and additional costs can easily eat up any savings...
What a very happy family great stuff enjoy the upgrades fair winds calm seas cheers
"Enjoyed" the cold weather, lol
i have been bed ridden for 2 years youre videos make me feel i was there with you . you dont know the joy it brings me . god bless you and may all youre sailing be joyous be ware of vaccines they are maiming alot of children .
Congratulations..
Tell us more, please.
great info on the rust in rigging. thx.
This is my dream! I am also from Montana. My dad took me sailing when I was a teenager and I have been dreaming of sailing around the world ever since. Maybe one day my family (husband and 4 kids!) will follow in your foot steps…or wake, as the case may be.
If I had the money I would definitely be living on a boat right now
It's possible to do it for free - or even get paid for it, as long as you're willing to learn how to sail and be the crew.
They take a break in winter and live at his house in the Daytona beach area
what time of the year do you think is the best time to buy a used boat?
After the summer season in the med.
How To DIY Rc Winter in Europe, just like buying an Cabriolet, buy in winter.
Winter
How To DIY Rc Very easy, after the summer ...
The days before a category 5 hurricane is about to hit shore :D
Just loved your family and what you all did together to find and achieve your new boat. Fantastic video, thanks!! Aussie
I clicked the link thinking "Hey what an interesting UA-cam show, oh these are yachts?"
And in the comments of course there's rich people talking about taxes like a disaster and comparing giving poor Americans access to lifesaving healthcare as "cake and circuses."
Check out the costs of the current US health care system vs proposed single payer solutions. Guess what... The single payer solutions are actually, believe it or not, cheaper.www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/7/23/1682312/-Universal-health-care-would-save-17-trillion
JCAJCA3 glad you’re retired, the American people deserve a single payer system.
So true. Too bad the children below believe their public school leftist progressive indoctrination over using some critical thinking. It isn't enough that Marxists have killed millions and millions of people in multiple tries for utopia.
you have a beautiful boat and better yet a beautiful family. thank you for the videos they help feed my dreams. i wish you safe travels.
How much was your boat though🤔 unless it’s too personal to talk about obviously
Hes already said in previous episodes that it was almost 600k
What a slice of heaven. That boat is beautiful and really spacious for everyone.
