    I would just like to thank you for allowing us to spend time with your Lovely Family, My 3 children are all grown and out in the world creating their own family memories to look back on in years to come, I unfortunately was in a bad Motorcycle accident in 2012 ( The driver of the van coming the other way at us was texting while driving a full size van ) I lost a leg and shattered 4 vertebra in my spine leaving me with very limited walking abilities and just not a great life for an active person like me. My wife Passed away from cancer just 18 months ago ,so I spend my time living and traveling like we used to do with kind people like you and your family. it makes all the difference in the world as far as a life of complete depression and one where I smile and chuckle a lot watching people like you, Thanks again, Please be safe and I'll be watching . . . . It's cool that you're talking openly about your budget. Most people would be too scared of internet backlash to do it. I think it's actually useful information as it kind of helps to let you know what the possibilities are

      billiondollardan I think the difference comes if people are relying on income from patreon and UA-cam. If the boaters are independently wealthy and not “e-begging” people don’t really care.

      Agreed but I know where it's coming from. The US in particular has their worst wealth disparity for 100 years. It leads to the kind of resentment that can lead to worse. We can all shake our heads at a few internet trolls but there is a very serious problem and every solution gets calls socialism by right wingers.

      John, I grew up poor - in the 50s. Being poor today is nothing like being poor was in the 50s. So, basically, I've been there, done that, couldn't afford the t-shirt. I have no real sympathy for people who complain they're poor today when they would have been rich in the time and place I grew up.

Such a wonderful opportunity for your kids to see the world and its great to see them appreciating the cruising life more. Your improvement as sailors is remarkable after only a year. Why not do something more productive with your day than bash this family who has worked hard for years and are able to reap the rewards of hard work, big risks, and smart business decisions? As far as me living on food stamps and welfare? That gave me a good laugh and I'm sure gave Renee a good giggle too. hahaha. FWIW, I've purchased a ZGear tshirt and hat and have more cute things on my wish list. I love that the kids run the shop and are learning real world business skills. I shouldn't be, but this posting is living proof the internet has brought out the worst the USA and other countries have to offer. I was enjoying the video until I decided to check out some comments. What a bunch of ugly and failure in life people that hang out just to pounce on the keys since they have nothing else going on in their miserable lives. Anyway, thanks for the transparency in buying the boat, as my dad once told me, having a range of boats in his lifetime, the famous saying, " a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into", or something along those lines. It's just a matter of perception if the returns in life experiences were worth the investment and hassle, I think in this case it will be worth it. I can say that being removed from what you folks had to go through in the beginning, but I get it. Looking forward to your further adventures.

    This was the first video that came up in my suggestions, and the first one I watched. I've now binge watched all of them. SV Seeker got me watching boat building videos, and from there I'm watching all the major building channels (Life on the mold BTW, if you want to see a cat being built). I've been waiting for any of those guys to get a boat in the water to see what it's like after the build. I feel like you guys have filled that void for me. Excellent production value, so much that I think some of my more picky family would enjoy your videos similar (but better) to how they watch HGTV (ugh).
    It's sad to reach the end of the current supply of videos, but I'm looking forward to having another channel that I have to catch up on as soon as they are released. I could go on, but I'll just say thanks for all the hard work and keep it up!

    Glad you found a boat you like. Anyone with nasty comments about your budget needs to chill out. It's the reward for having a successful career and I'm sure a lot of hard work. My boss from my last job retired and sold her restaurant. She was 75 and had worked her butt off her whole life. Usually out in 80-100 hours a week and waited tables and bartended at her own bar. Best boss I've ever had and I'm 51. Her ex husband had died and she met a really nice guy that had his own money and his own Trimaran.. she bought a catamaran about 50 ft and they have been sailing all over the Caribbean and Bahamas ever since. They take a break in winter and live at his house in the Daytona beach area

    🔶Jack Re 7:07 use a detangler brush, hold your hair from the top and start brush out from the bottom to upwards. Once the hair is smooth, which happens quickly then you can brush or comb it out. I have experience and yours is better quality looking than mine.
    🔷Another thought: You can get a stylist to cut it in a way that you can keep it long, but so that it falls into place without bothering you no matter if you comb, brush, or run your fingers through it
    The fullcut baldness was ruinous, but you do look like one of those varsity swimmers after that.

    Thanks for being open about the costs. We are cruising on a budget of $500 a month on an old monohull and we often wonder what it would cost to be in a spacious modern cat!
    Usually we anchor to save money, but we are now in the Azores where it is really cheap (€5 a day to be on the hard) so we are getting some upgrades taken care of.

    Beautiful video...until that haircut! The creature afterwards was like something out of a horror movie! j/k of course..but he could have went a little less radical, and a #3 or even 2 buzz cut would have done the trick! Boat shopping is so hard, let's face it, your doing something that is going to change many peoples lives for basically ever, and yes that includes the sellers, and most certainly the buyers. But you just know that even with the hassles, the repairs, the work, that will be a wonderful home for so long to come..may you always have fair winds and following seas

      Hi! We put a video out called Money & Sailing, I'll try to put the link here. Keith was in the oil & gas business and saved his money and that afforded us to sail for about a decade or two without worrying about money. But we have 5 kids and a big ole boat; a smaller family with a smaller boat can do it much more cheaply.ua-cam.com/video/_0kE2IdyHqg/v-deo.html

    • @JMac-27
      @JMac-27 5 років тому +6

      Sailing Zatara I cannot imagine how you guys saved that much money. I've been looking at boats and watching your financial videos on paying for ports and repairs and provisions and even just paying to pass through the canal. This is a millionaire lifestyle. How can anyone that doesn't have a million dollar budget do This? I just do not see how anyone can save that much with a family unless big big money was sitting in the bank. This seems impossible, who can just afford to not work anymore? Are there any channels where big money wasn't necessary and they explain how the hell it's possible?

    • @anona2017
      @anona2017 5 років тому

      @@JMac-27 yes there's a few really low budget sailors. It seems like you need to go with a more primitive set up, monohulls are much cheaper as well. Many work while sailing as well or take breaks and work on and off. I can't remember the name of the channel but one couple sails for about 9k each per year.

    • @tombobtail7706
      @tombobtail7706 4 роки тому +6

      @@JMac-27 I'll simplify it for you, you need enough money to buy the boat and set it up and enough passive income to live on it. Safe blue water boats can be anywhere from 50k to whatever. You then need enough money invested in a medium for instance the stock market to have liquid cash, enough passive income to spend and enough passive income to beat inflation on the currency you are operating in to continue to re invest/compound. You could also work from the boat online somehow. Otherwise you are just burning through your money. No, not everyone can not do this. There are a few exceptions like Sailing La Vagabonde, who have a rare situation and unique lease arrangement where they use the "sex sells" approach and have an extremely attractive lady in all of the videos, which equates to advertising. As soon as their views drop off, the company will pull the lease so this approach is limited as well. That said, he worked in Australia to buy the first boat, but really hasn't got enough money to continue the lifestyle indefinitely.

    "So that was very disappointin..." Not to mention illegal! Contract law 101, and yes, France being a part of the EU, both sellers and brokers must adhere to EU rules regarding contracts, which, amazingly enough and in all fairness to things being fair, and pretty much along the same lines as the rules here in the states. When they posted the asking price and you put together and presented the offer, that constituted a binding contract. Their raising the price constituted "bait and switch," which is also illegal in France.
    Fantastic you found one that you really enjoy in Greece!!! No better place to be "stuck" than tourist extravaganza Greece!
