      That must’ve have been the biggest demoralization that the UNSC probably faced ever since Reach. Losing the Infinity that quickly was a severe loss not only to the UNSC but to humanity considering that was at the time their most powerful vessel. Here’s to the sister ship being finished soon.

    The books said it well “humanity is innovative, the Covenant is imitative”
    The Covenant just took Forerunner technology and imitated it. We took Forerunner and Covenant tech, mixed it with our own and made it better.

      To be fair that was mostly the Prophet's doing, as they deemed who was allowed to tinker with forerunner tech, and IIRC when they were fighting the elites, part of the reason they were even participating in that conflict was because the elites were using forerunner technology for weapons which the prophets thought was blasphemous. Also considering the fact that basically no race the covenant encountered was able to stand up to them nearly as much as humanity, it can be inferred that the covenant didnt see a need to improve on stuff that was already good enough to slaughter anyone they came across. Even though humanity stood up, covenant weaponry just obliterated their stuff. Metal body armor doesnt do much against 4000 degree plasma. Missiles aren't nearly as effective as light-speed energy beams.

    I remember having an argument with someone and they were arguing that somehow the Death Star could literally outrun a MAC round from a fleet of UNSC ships. He was quoting ridiculous speeds which might be true.
    But then I just retort “well then explain if it was at the speed of light?” And explained the Infinity.
    Yeah Star Wars is a space opera, not a military sci-fi.

      That's one of the reasons why the second death star had a shield generator.
      One hit on the Death Star's main reactors would overload the whole thing.
      Also, while yes the death star could go in hyperspace, the problem is that between jumps there is a recharge period and to recalculate the next jump. The Death Star is indeed slow when it comes to changing directions. It's not its sublight speed that guy quoted, which is slow, it's probably its speed while in hyperspace.

    Considering how the Infinity apparently lasted only 4 minutes against the Banished, It makes me wonder just how large of a scale of an attack Atriox pulled when he engaged the UNSC forces at the battle of Zeta Halo.

    • @keenansisson211
      @keenansisson211 2 роки тому +45

      The game implies that Atriox put literally all the banished against it, I could be reading into that though. I’d like to see a breakdown of Atriox’s ships. The audio files did make it clear it was largely the element of surprise though, the Infinity wasn’t even able to deploy its onboard fleet before they were boarded. But certainly, knowing this and watching the infinity get demolished really puts that scene into perspective.

    • @marcofransowitz4773
      @marcofransowitz4773 2 роки тому +133

      The banished were able to defeat the infinity with ease bc they had an ace in the hole. What chief and lasky and the rest could never have known is that the devs ran out of money so the banished had a massive advantage, slicing through impregnable defenses like tissue paper. And then after leading the most massive off screen attack ever orchestrated Atriox stubbed his toe and died of gangrene 20 minutes later leaving behind a voice actor who was more available to lead his army

    • @Anxiou5Panda
      @Anxiou5Panda 2 роки тому +12

      We might see the how in the next installment or in a spin-off. Considering Atriox had a connection with The Harbinger who gave the Banished access to Forerunner technology. I would guess that Atriox didn't have to board the Infinity using force but perhaps by slipping inside using said Forerunner tech. I say this because we were told that Forerunner tech is still leagues better than Human tech.

    • @backyardshenanagins1720
      @backyardshenanagins1720 2 роки тому +7

      @@Anxiou5Panda It may also open the door to the possibility of Atriox hacking into the ships systems and thus why they may not have been prepared either because their system's were sabatoged or tricked. Taking into consideration what you brought up that could be another reason.

    Such a beautiful and grand ship. One of the best things to come from the 343 games in my opinion. The books are way better though.
    After reading some of the books and learning the lore, q lot of people say it ruins the eerieness and mystery. For me, it adds a new sickening layer of eerieness and new mysteries. Mostly I wonder the old structures of the foruneers and think: "AM I standing in the last place a forerunner stood? What were the forerunners here thinking of when the rings activated? Were they thinking about their lives with regret or pride?" And so on.
    As for the Infinity, I love many of the mysteries behind how they reverse engineered forerunner and covenant tech to build such a massive and powerful ship. It makes me wonder if the war would have continued, would humanity have built more of these ships while they hunt the remaining Civenant and recolonize space? So many question! I can't wait to learn more!

    Did you know that metallurgists are working on a titanium cross section that would be formed similar to plywood? The strength of the metal is longitudinal. ie along the long axis of the metal as it was formed. with the metal in flux at a temperature that I do not know the metal is cross layered. This gives the metal a very strong structure on multiple axis. I would assume that in 2550 that the game is set in this process, or its like, has been improved to the point where more than the current two axis can be processed at a time. The armor would then be able to withstand hits from energy and concussive weapons even at the level of the Covenant. Then as the technology and metallurgy continues to improve the metal would be quicker to manufacture giving the UNSC the ability to put the armor on ships of the size of the Infinity fast. Otherwise the build time would be measured in decades.

      Probably the same way they abducted 75 children almost simultaneously. Deceit, deception, denial, and misdirection. Think about the development of real world aircraft. F-22, F-35 and the like. They were in the air flying, the US govt deniedit, and people thought they were UFOs. Now consider the amount of space available to the UNSC i general, and ONI specifically. Add that possible amount of space, with communications blackouts,amd the fact that the people working on building it lived on location, and weren't allowed to leave, and it starts to get easier to see how they hid it. Also, in no way was this meant as a sarcastic or negatice response.

    CORRECTION: Humans have indeed forged metal alloys under accelerations higher than 1 standard gravity. Spin-forging can exert an arbitrary amount of acceleration onto an item being forged -- tens, hundreds, even thousands of standard gravities. That said, the effect is not noticeably different from simple pressure-forging.
    What we HAVEN'T been able to do yet is forge metal alloys under accelerations LESS than 1 standard gravity. We can't add to the acceleration of Earth's gravity, but we can't cancel it out.

But we kept in touch and we became friends and I got over my crush on her. Then she broke up with her boyfriend, we drank some alcohol because of it. I told her she'll be fine and I wished her well. I still think she's the most beautiful woman in the world, but like I said, I am over my crush on her. It was like five years already since I first saw her. Besides, I am quite happy with the friendship I developed with her. It was more important than a crush. So we kept hanging out, drinking, having coffee, and all. I had a girlfriend, she started dating other guys. My girlfriend wanted to live some other life without me in it, so I said, "Okay, I want the best for you and I want you to pursue your happiness." My lady friend and I drank alcohol about it, and she gave me the same advice I gave her when she was in that position and I became okay with the breakup immediately. But we were really drunk, so she spent the night in my apartment. I only have one bed, so you know what that means: She took the bed and I slept on the couch. But on the couch, I really can't sleep. Something was bothering me. So I tossed and turned for about three hours, then I finally couldn''t take it anymore, I stood up and went straight to my room where she's sleeping. I approached the bed, gently sat on it and I reached for her shoulder to pull her closer to me. She stirred and woke up. She asked what's up. I told her, "you know, the first time I saw you, I was watching a video and left it playing to get myself a sandwich then went to the store to get some mayo then I got so distracted by life that I forgot to finish the video." She said, "You know what, I've been wondering about a weird noise in your night drawer." So we opened that drawer, and lo and behold, there's my phone and this video still has two minutes of play time on it.

      wasn't it four Banished Dreadnoughts that took out the Infinity in a surprise attack when its shields were down?
      Even if it took "4 minutes" to take out Infinity it required an ambush assault by 4 dreadnoughts to capitalize on the Infinity's more vulnerable state.
      Infinity was humanity's greatest and finest ship to date, but it's war and the Covenant have lost even bigger ships like the 'Long Night of Silence' during the Fall of Reach battle.
      That super carrier was 29 km long, the UNSC had nothing in its fleet or numbers to counter it and required a nuclear bomb to go off inside of it to be destroyed.
      It requires significant things and circumstances to take down monsters of capital ships like the Infinity and 'Long Night of Solace' and they at least go down spectacularly.

  • @usuallydopesvsc

    The armor plates are so large, they were most certainly manufactured at the same facility in Sols Oort Cloud that built the ship. A ship that size would literally be impossible to build on most if not all planets surfaces, meaning both the ship, and the massive plates were both manufactured in Zero G.
    It's also worth noting that the UNSC Infinity smashes through the NECK of the covenant cruiser, which is literally the weakest part of the ship, looking at its structure, so probably didn't have nearly the same impact on the Infinity that it would've had that crashed into the front or the back of the ship. Yeah, you looked up the entire mass of the covenant ship, but but its varies in shape drastically, with way more weight and mass in the rear, where the Infinity is fairly uniform throughout its entire body. So the neck was literally the weakest point on the ship, and easy for something with evenly distributed mass to crash through.

  • @malta7406
    @malta7406 Рік тому

    I think it's 100% feasible the UNSC would be able to create a Titanium superalloy using pressure and temperature. I think humanity is capable of a similar feat now, we just usually devote our efforts to making diamonds and other materials we've seen naturally. They're able to make synthetic diamonds at room temperature now, using the equivalent pressure of 640 elephants balanced on a ballet shoe (whatever that means, lol). It's completely unrealistic to me that this wouldn't be possible, I'm actually gonna go try now!
    *bang*

What you are doing is amazing and innovation like this is how the world is going to move forward. I would greatly like to own a helmet or even eventually a suit myself as many Halo fans would. Between your knowledge and in-depth lore and the mechanics and science of the world, I truly believe we could eventually create several, if not all of the innovations in the Halo universe.

    While I don't speak for every maintainer, keeping everything on the up and up yearly is really fucking hard these days let alone on the scale of something like Infinity. Even scaling back to the Pillar of Autumn it's still has to be an absolutely herculean effort to keep up with all that maintenance. Whoever is the MXG/CC aboard Infinity deserves a fucking award outright just for taking on such a work load, and I hope those Marines are well appreciated.

    I can only imagine the black ops ONI would put Infinity through, if not for Fleet Com owning the ship. I know ONI has their part in the ship. But to think of ONI commanding Humanity’s culmination of achievement is almost…terrifying.
    The Infinity is my favorite ship, mainly because of its flagship status, and the lore surrounding it. But I’d like to imagine the black ink on the ship if ONI had commanded the vessel alone.
    Also, the Infinity DOES have a sister, the Eternity. Now, considering the Infinity’s state, what if Humanity saw it fit to complete the Eternity, and what if the Eternity was operated by ONI this time around? The failure to counter the surprise attack from Atriox was a massive blow to the UNSC, which is an understatement, to say the least.
    The Infinity being under the command of Fleet Com, what if ONI used that as leverage to command the Eternity, and outfit the Eternity with cloak tech, or technology Humanity has NO knowledge of, besides those under the blanket of ONI?
