I hope Valve never straight up explain who G-man is. At this point it’s almost impossible to write a resolution that will be as compelling as all the speculation. He’s better left a mystery.

Finally, the Lore Supercut! You are a legend my friend, loved watching the vids about the hl2 beta, still a huge fan of the original artstyle. Now having the entirety of the hl 1, 2, the episodes, portal and more lore in a video from a to z, I can finally send this to my friends and tell them about the greatest franchise in existence.
I like to imagine that the reason Gman looked less… off… In Half-Life: Alyx, was because he slightly altered his “normal”, appearance in order to not frighten her as much. Because if a teenage Alyx was suddenly confronted with someone who looked like his skin barely fit, and had asymmetrical eyes and cheek bones, she’d probably be less likely to trust him.
This makes sense. Though it raises the question of why, if G-Man is capable of more perfectly resembling a human being, he didn't appear the same way to Gordon. Edit: looking at them more closely, I actually think the Alyx G-Man is MORE faithful to the original HL1 model than the HL2 model is. His face has similar proportions, he has that perpetual smirk, and he looks more like a living person than a fresh corpse.
@@nathancollins1715Because in Gordon’s case, he was probably trying to subtly imply that he’s beyond Gordon’s understanding, and he’s merely taking that form to interact with Freeman without causing him unneeded stress. It’s a threat, a subtle implication that he’s just playing nice. With Alyx, he didn’t want there to be any hint at threats, so he took on a more human form.
There were so many moments I thought he was going to announce HL3. Deffo some trollish comments and suggestions made before the reveal of different games.
I feel like HL fans plant these own rumors and then disappoint themselves. I would rather forget all about it and be pleasantly surprised if another game gets announced or not doesn’t matter to me. I wasn’t rich enough to play half life Alyx so I think about how those fans feel who haven’t played one since or before the orange box because we couldn’t afford a VR and maybe you’re one too but idk. Getting my hopes up sure doesn’t help lol
What if the G-man and his employers are time travelers? Trying to put their race back on track. The original timeline would be Gordon dying in black mesa and maybe Eli loosing his wife and daughter, and Dr kliener dying with Barney, so maybe some group of surviving scientists worked towards timetravel to fix this huge mistake, and through that discovered multi universal travel, maybe combining the machines to make a universal time travel machine, and the timeline we play is the best version they could get, it's a bit of a crazy stretch, but it would be interesting. Like G-man has seen hundreds of Gordon's perish and the one we play through, is the "end game" of this time, the one out of a Million that could be a good outcome. Gman does Emphasize time alot
It’s be really cool if you went over entropy zero and entropy zero: 2. Even though they’re not “technically” canon i personally feel that they are such good games they should be, i act as if they are.
My not exciting guess is that G-man is a convenient plot device for Valve and they never had an answer to who he really is. Valve is simply throwing us some crumbs from time to time and lets our imagination run wild.
G-Man almost certainly didn't have an established origin when Mark Laidlaw was writing HL1, and probably not for HL2 either. But I'd be shocked if by the time the episodes were being written, Laidlaw didn't have something in mind for G-Man already. It doesn't matter now since Laidlaw no longer works for Valve, but given that they've had 20 years to think about it, I think it's extremely likely that the writers at Valve know what direction they're eventually going to take with G-Man.
Watching at 3am a video named "Another 3 Hours of Half-Life Lore", with a length of 3h 30mins and 30seconds posted 3 weeks ago. I guess it's confirmed, boys.
i want to say something: some say we get to know that eli can see gman in alyx, but that's untrue: we know it at the end of ep2, just before the strider battle!
I do love that breen grub and epistle 3 have effectively become canon despite the mass populace kicking screaming that it isn't 😂😂 firstly it's just beautiful to see them not getting their way on the matter, but its just the concept of the Combine canonically being named shu'ulathoi when it was only EVER mentioned in breen grub which also has direct tie into epistle 3 which also was confirmed to have been where the story was gonna go. Like no we won't ever get to play this ending but atleast we do know what it is definitively.
Hi. I've been watching your videos (they're great, btw), and I thought that you might be interested in a little extra bit. So, one of the franchises in the game Lego Dimensions is, in fact, Portal. Now, I don't know if it's cannon to the main universe, but one of the main missions takes place in Aperture Science and revolves around the cake, and I think that it is during Portal 2. And with that, you can get Chell in a level pack, which grants you a level in the style of the original game, and I believe it takes place after the events of Portal 2. It includes the return of Wheatley and a few references to Black Masa. So yeah, I hope you see this and will be interested. Again, I don't know if it's cannon.

With all your talk about the "Lore and Story behind [insert person, place, thing, or event here]" and your British-sounding accent I'm surprised you haven't done a bit about the 7-Eleven outside of Black Mesa, and the truck that makes deliveries there. You could call it "The Store and Lorry behind Black Mesa"
I believe the g-man sent alyx to aperture science to explore and find Doug Ratman. Thus the g-man knows that there are 2 people in the US. Chell and Doug Ratman.
Sir, why does your 2s have a spare arm and its hips are facing the opposite way on its body? Its making a swiggly shape. Its like the thing they put between halo 2 and 4.
44:50 - something a non-human would say? I wouldn't be too sure about that. I talk of the failings of the human condition fairly often. In those terms. As a "disconnected observer" of sorts of the human condition. The GMan, however, is obviously not human. You would be surprised, though, how easily humans are manipulated. It doesn't take a mysterious man in a suit carrying a briefcase to do so, either. Look at how easily humans are manipulated by what they see on a screen. See how easily they are manipulated into an upsell at a fast food restaurant. Fragile creatures.
Great video, but you had the chance to use the lambda as the L in lore and made it an O which is weird to see as a Greek speaker. I always see people abuse Greek letters as totally different letters in other languages e.g. capital sigma (Σ) which makes an S sound used as an E, when we already have a captial epsilon (Ε) which is literally an E. 😂
I miss my pc and hope Steam comes to xbox. It'd be awesome to be able to play half life or tf2 without geforce now. If the kbm delay is too much, I'll suffer on controller
I really don’t like that Valve introduced time travel and a multiverse. Both are pretty cheap tools, writing-wise, and make the story lose any impact as you can retcon anything, like they did with Eli. He should’ve stay dead and in turn make Alyx more jaded. Which would fit nicely with her fighting Mossman.

It depend on how old Gordon is during half life 1. Gman put Gordon in stasis and to my understanding the stasis realm is where time doesn't exist. During black Mesa east chapter, Eli Vance told Gordon that he doesn't look like he age and look the same as he was in hl1.
