I’ve been watching you guys for a while and I must say that I’m impressed with not only what appears to be a great product, but your in-depth explanation and direction of the product and more importantly, the process. Thank you for your professionalism. If I may suggest (as a teacher/instructor) that an extreme close-up of the final product. Laying the camera lense directly on the surface with light emanating from behind/above and side/in front of the camera will give us little people a better idea of what the finished job will look like. Again, thanks a million for great instruction product and process.

Still confused how you guys got the hardwood texture look? After you guys spread the concrete and troweled, sprayed, sanded, did it just naturally look like it had wood grain or did the trowel you use to level the cement have some sort of grain texture when you leveled it out?

Get a dehumidifier to dry out surface, get Ardex Rapid Set Moisture barrier Get enough to put it down at 150 square feet per kit (it will say 200 sq. feet but you want it to look good on the surface. it normally goes under floors.) mix one kit at a time, squeegee it back roll it, actually is a black metal flake, you can broadcast vinyl chips into it as you go. then a clear urethane on top of that: 2 coats. No more moisture. Not cheap epoxy but it works. DUMP 2 part products on the floor when mixed.

32:41 This is a pool trowel that we attach to a pole, and if you watch after he puts the trowel on the pole, they start laying out the overlay, he is on Leggari spiked shoes so he doesn’t mess up the design while walking back and forth in straight lines with the pool trowel and it leaves behind those high ridges that you come back and sand off after you stain the top, which exposes the wood grain color. Really cool process!
