THIS IS MASSIVE: 5 Perfect Mods To Play MEDIEVAL 3 TOTAL WAR!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 чер 2024
- With no way of knowing how CA is currently functioning on the historical side of the games and whether CA could even ever pull it off after everything that’s happened recently, I think the idea of Medieval 3 is currently on ice. But as someone who has scoured the modding scene high and low for good Medieval campaigning experiences with depth, challenge and fun I can say for sure that there are some excellent mods that come pretty close to what Medieval 3 could really be like.
In this video I go through my top 5 of these mods, from Stainless Steel Historical Improvement Project to Anno Domini 1051 AD to Medieval Kingdoms 1212, let me show you some of the best Medieval mods you can play right now in Total War. Especially with Manor Lords on the way and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 announced, now is the best time to get back into these amazing mods!
I really hope you enjoyed this video and/or found it informative! If you did and you'd like to see more of this style of content do give it a like, leave a comment below and subscribe to the channel! Also consider supporting the channels with the links below!

With Manor Lords coming this week, KCD2 announced I feel like Medieval is getting a huge spotlight this year. So what a time to get into some epic Medieval mods in Total War! These are my top 5 (with some honourable mentions) but I'd love to hear yours as well, let me know in the comments below! And subscribe to the channel for more videos just like this :)
In the new Total War III, I expect, nay demand: castle sieges, smaller hills to defend, (Manor Lords) fighting withdrawal movement, generals with different fighting styles: aggressive, defensive, cunning, ambush lovers, honourable, etc. And more CKIII elements or collaboration, throne rooms, marriages back as strategy, your own empire may crumble, and including using some units from other conquered cultures.
I don't understand why they can't work with modders to make historical total war games. I am sure they can hire them as freelancers or contractor SMEs to build something better.
making a game and modding a game is different thing
@@havndkun54 Not as much anymore than you may think. Maps have been made, complete overhauls and introduction of new systems by modders, and new assets have been put in. They could also reuse assets from previous games, there are a lot of options for someone who cares. If you gave modders the tools that ca has, they would make a game, and it would probably be pretty good. The real issue is that ca has no desire to make anything good anymore it would seem.
The did once and the result was Thrones of Britannia
CA has in the past hired mod devs into their studio. Usually to the detriment of the modder.
CA have taken up the Greed mantle can't do nothing bout that
Latest SSHIP version is from march 27th 2024 and can be downloaded from Total War Center Forums. The SSHIP team rarely update their ModDB page, so the versions you download there are usually months, if not years old. Just so you know ;)
Thanks for the heads up!
True, I think SSHIP in terms of communication towards the community is very lacking
Great video!
The Tsardoms mods for Medieval 2 are just next level. Both the original 1345 Tsardoms and the 1448 Fall of Constantinople Tsardoms. I've spent countless hours in both of them and feel like I still have only scratched the surface of these mods. The map, the unit design and detail, the individual biographies listed for historical characters, the unique factions that all have their own identity, the amazing scripts. They're just so good. Add to that a wonderful and devoted community and nice devs who take feedback really well.
Seriously. Mods of the decade.
Appears Anno Domini 1051 needs updating because the De Hautville family (Apulia) were not Lombards, as is described in the faction page. They were very famously Normans.
Isnt it made by some random russian? Ofcourse they dont get history right 😂
1051 isn't finished and every clip of it is from the beta on patreon
@@HansWurst1569bizarre comment
@@HansWurst1569 They're definitely not Russian.
You are thinking of a different mod and modder@@HansWurst1569
tsardom is an absolute 1st class experience
Played as the Knights on the isle of Rhodes. Crazy fun.
Absolutely. It shouldn't even be counted as a mod. It's like a whole game in of itself.
As always thanks TheTerminator for the video! As you mentioned, we are starting to release "packs" of new units and reskins for faction groups, such as the Frankish states, like Kingdom of France, and recently the Germanic states, like HRE. Furthermore, I would like to announce that we are also planning a new campaign based on the Wrath of Sparta DLC map. The year of departure? 1207 AD! 😉
Xenon97(Joker)
Team Medieval 1100/1177 AD
my man! Is the cavarly as effective as in Attila/Stainless steel?
Thanks for the mod review! I have pretty much given up on CA doing anything worthwhile in the historical genre.
Great video mate
Broken crescent my friend
Broken crescent is a masterpiece
Has that even been updated in the last 5 years?
Thanks for making this video, I guess you should have mentioned broken crescent mod for medieval 2 tW, it was one of the best medieval mod ever made
True!
was, hasn't been updated in ages
I would love to see the explonding towers fixed! lol
For me 1212 is the best medieval experience one can get now in the total war setting. Though, you've missed in this video what's probably the actual ultimate medieval experience right now which is to play the campaign in CK3 and battles in 1212 with the Crusader Wars mod! 😎
if it would work...😪
great video the terminator I've been following you for a long time. Do you know if Domini for Attila already has a campaign?
It does but its currently for their Patreon members only I believe
I can't wait for this mods to finish this campaign maps, wish someone will mod the map on dei total war 2 maybe the alexander mod and definetly ancient empires in Attila
In the new Total War III, I expect, nay demand: castle sieges, smaller hills to defend, hide troops behind buildings for better traps during battles, storming buildings and losing men or burning them down, (Manor Lords) fighting withdrawal movement, generals with different fighting styles: aggressive, defensive, cunning, ambush lovers, honourable, etc. Peaceful kings whose sons attack. And more CKIII elements or collaboration, throne rooms, marriages back as strategy, your own empire may crumble, and including using some units from other conquered cultures.
Yeah sure. CA might be on a good track right now but to create that game they'd need to stay on the right track for a decade at least. And I bet the old greedy fucks will try to pull it back into shit in a couple months.
So when trying dofferent mods, i presume you need to only run 1 at a time? Or will mods using seperate campaings within the same game be compatible?
9:15 Not the team, only D.Trooper is working on overhauling the campaign map and it takes way longer than they anticipated.
Lets hope that the great break through will be happen in 2025.
D Trooper has other things to fix as well:)
(For example holy Roman Empire mechanics)
By the way, D trooper is the genius who invented the 10 building slot cities.
Do any of these mods fix the screen pan speed in the campaign map, ie, by slowing it to a normal speed, rather than hyper fast in one? Thank you!
Hi I'm new to the total war series would you like to tell me what pc and graphics card you are using for rome 2 and attila?
just look at the recommended hardware on their steam pages
Does anyone think about the release of the new campaign map of MK1212 before sleep every day or it’s just me😢
Its just you:)
I would get crazy if I think about it every day:D
I hope it will be released in 2025 - but dont forget:
Only one person, D trooper, is working on it.
They underestimated the complexity in doing so.
Medieval 2 Stainless Steel Zengids what a great Campaign!
Omar Khayam the great Iranian & world scientist and poet in SSHIP wow!!
I play Chivalry Remastered nowadays in lieu of the Medieval 2 mods. It's just a lot more modern in terms of control and responsiveness, while still keeping the classic total war mechanics.
One question: 1212 map - WHEN?
I recommend to play Medieval 1100 Ad !
Don't get me wrong, 1212 Ad is fun but for my eyes 1100 Ad looks all in all better
For the Attila Total War mods, you can just update the game through Steam mod manager. But for the earlier TW games, don't you need to copy the mod files into the folders? To me, that is a big advantage for the Attitla Mods.
Yeah fir medieval 2 kingdoms ypu need to copy the mod into the mods folder where americas crusaders etc campaigns are.
1100 ad for rome 2 has one BIG problem: enemy dignitaries disbanding my units every turn. It's so annoying, especially since it's complicated to recruit the hight tier ones. That made me drop it for now...
hey, u can share save file in our discord server to check this out.
Btw u mentioned 1 thing of many thousands changed. For example we added great trebuchet models some time ago. Hope it will make u comeback )
@@starsmil9687 fact is I think the mod is almost perfect, but that one detail for me is a game changer. Losing Noble knights every turn cause of some darn diplomat is very annoying, maybe you could make a submod that removes unit disbandment. Also one other thing that could be improved is defence on and under settlement walls. I know it's a rome 2 mechanic so it probably can't be changed, but the attacker is so favoured for no reason when on the walls, they swarm between the defender soldiers and destroy them with little resistance, and not only on the walls but in front of the entrances too. I always leave the walls cause they're impossible to defend, which makes no sense man. I actually think 1100 ad is the best medieval mod for any total war but these two things are very annoying I gotta be honest. Also one more thing, you should try to make a new model for islamic cities with a mosque model cause rn every islamic city looks like Jerusalem lol. Anyway what you guys did for now is incredible and I can't wait to come to play it if you resolve some problems, especially the disband situation.
@@asellandrofacchio7263 Thanks, about unit disband situation maybe it's bad luck cause you are first who complain about this. But we will look into this! About walls "issue", i never met that personally and fight on walls usually :) Anyway it's engine thing.
@@starsmil9687 alright good talking to you man, hope you can do a small fix about the disband :) Have a good one 👍🏻
Isnt it confirmed that they are working an a historical late 1800 early 1900 game... cant remember where I saw it
I love 1212 and can’t wait for the map update but I do have the issue where I have the right mods in the right order , no other sub mods but I get told on the main menu I’m missing pack files or something like that but game still works which is all that matters
there is a mod on steam to fix that error.
So Anno Domina is not up yet on steam?
After RTR IS I will probably never be able to play TW with less than 1808 regions... To me this size is mandatory now. Hope the guys at 1212 will increase their map!
by the time CA decides to make Medieval 3 , nobody will care enough about the company to buy the game. They lost their peak and fans are losing faith.
Legend of TW´s source said that CA is now working on Medieval 3 TW.
However, it will take at least 3 Years until we can play it.
Hopefully, there will be no heroes:D
I have little faith it won't be garbage. The best we can hope for is just a decent game with tons of content locked behind dlc
@@forbiddenbeard2210 I think CA knows that its their last chance to get trust back and also to show SEGA that they should not be scrapped.
On the other hand, they lost many employees...
Whatever, I hope it will be good and if not, we still have medieval 1212 ad.
I love 1212 AD but the lack of UI scaling kills it for me. But that's an Attila issue in general
Will you inform us, when 1051 AD drops for the public? o:)
Yep will do!
@@TheTerminatorGaming ma man!
Someone should make a Crusades mod for Pharaoh!
i think medieval 1212 ad can truly become the medieval 3 total war but they are just letting so much of the campaign go, they dont update so many of the problems and bugs the campaign has, i hope they do focus more on the camnpaign with this new map
i liked 1100 ad but it puls me out of emerison when i hear the roman unids voices or speaches for the romans when i play as England.
We will look into this. Btw u mentioned 1 thing of many thousands changed. For example we added great trebuchet models some time ago. Hope it will bring the immersion :)
New Medieval? You want some Medipium??
the amount of copium from this so called ˝core community of historical fans˝ is off the charts
Mk 1212 is amazing
I can never get stainless steel to run. Any advice for 2024?
CA should pay money to the modders for a Med 3. CA doesn't listen to the fans so pay the modders and let's end this waiting.
Bad thing about 1212 is that Poland has a very poor unit roster and no Poland in Anno Domini. Its like the Developers hate Poland for some reason when there are a lot of Polish players out there.
If they would combine the unit roster and AI from Medieval Warfare into 1212 then it would be the greatest mod ever.
1212AD 🥇
Does anybody knows how to fix the crashes in the mods of med 2 ?? I never play to a mod without crashes in this game
Try looking up the 4GB patcher. It's essential for Med 2 mods.
Once the new map comes out I think CA cant deliver something better, at least at launch.
guys what is this game in the intro?
Anyone have any idea why in the early in my campaign on 1212ad I’m facing 15th century units
Mod 1212 it is necessary to adjust the animation of the wind, those cards that appear to be advertising are horribles
😊
Dang another video covering same old total war mods, TW truly needs something fresh, no wonder ppl are so hyped about manor lords, though the game is completely different.
you can only invent the wheel so many times before it all just becomes essentialy the same thing
Make video plz about GoT mods for TW series!
Stainless steel lol it was invented only in XX century. Shiny steel maybe would be more accurate title
1212ad is the best so far
if only there was a mod that you can control like Mount and Blade any warrior or lord hero on the battles and having all these move kills and matched combat of Attila gore fiht animation mods.. Then sorry but forget any Bannerlord forever. Still in Medieval 2 there is a mod that you can play as the captain of your army but of course uses the vanilla animations... If only in Attila and Rome 2 this mod but using the Warcry Mod animations....Men our problems would be solven forever no jokes on that. A mod like that on Rome 2 and Attila with their reskin mods their rest mods ...and playable with brutal gore etc animations and not only vanilla but randomly what we want from this gaming life to feel the battles in our skin. I would remove Bannerlord at the same moment.
Hungary is writing in hungarian !?
Whose are these people ?❤
Any M3, especially an official one, is moot without having China and East Asia in it.
Bro all you do is mention all the mods that you mentioned before lol
When they is no new content you have to put up the old ones:D
Bingo, you found out his whole gig
1212AD is unofficial Medieval 3
Medieval Kingdoms 1212AD is probably better than what we can expect from "Creative| Assembly if the would made Medieval 3
Putting your mods behind a paywall is gross and probably against ToS.
Who does that?
Bulat Steel
but still all of them.. so little castles and so little army..
♻️
medieval 1100 ad needs updates ı thinks it doesnt work.
just put part 1 above part 2. yall so dum
yeah for sure lol
No one likes the mod Medieval Warfare ?
I’ve worked with the developers for a short period. It’s a great mod but with such a small team it doesn’t develop as quickly as MK1212
Athos or whatever his name is just keep spamming mods and never really finish a single one, just move to another....
Dude f this shit where can i pirate medieval 2
These are literally NOT Medieval 3! Lol
He forgot the " qoute marks "
He does good with clickbait
@@Askethanoras I just hate how so many mods are referred to as "literally Medieval 3" over the years. Not that Terminator did that in this video, I am just anticipating the hypesters chiming in with calling these mods that.
@@pizzaman6784 He did it with his clickbait title "THIS IS MASSIVE: 5 Perfect Mods To Play MEDIEVAL 3 TOTAL WAR!". It basically sounds like if there already is a medieval 3 and here are the 5 mods to improve it.
@@Askethanoras it's all he does, you do know that right?
