- Driving down to Bahía de Los Ángeles has been a bucket list fishing trip of mine for a long long time! Fishing aboard the Tony Reyes Mothership was an amazing trip and a great way to get my feet wet in the Sea of Cortez.
Actually staying in a small fishing village and seeing the culture first hand is a whole different experience!
From the road trip there, to the scenery, the amazing food, and everything that comes with the journey there! The incredible fishing, is just a bonus!
Such a fun morning of fishing with Captain Nego with Joel Jr Sportfishing for Yellowtail!
Ended up running into a handful of decent stops for yellowtail fishing on surface irons and stickbaits!
Broke my PB with my first fish of the day with a 30.4 lb yellowtail!
After that, it wasn't long before we found a few more good bird schools back to back and was able to pick off quite a few yellowtail pretty quickly!
This was only the beginning of the morning, and a TROPHY CABRILLA was caught shortly after by Joe! Make sure to tune into the next episode to see!

Nice Trip! I went out with Nego last July, Great Captain-Great guy we killed it.
Love the fact that everyone was using metal and sticking with it. Most people give up too early and decide to go to bait. You guys knocked em out of the park. That first one was a brutal good fight. Enjoyed this video very much 👍👍
Appreciate the kind words, thank you! We're pretty die hard when it comes to fishing artificials, and very proud of it! Live bait will get bit, in the toughest of times, but nothing is more rewarding that really grinding for your catch!
I just wanted to say your videos are the best out there. Just let me know the reel and irons you use.
Nice yellow Ray!
What jig is that ?
Was that a Tady 45?
another solid, vid, bro!
What do you have your reel spooled with? Braid test? Mono test?
For my surface irons, I run 65lb Maxcuatro Braid, to 50lb Izorline XXX Monofilament
What months are best to fish for tuna and yellowtail in San Diego CA? Thanks
Yellowtail offshore, is kinda year around but some times can be better than others depending on their migration patterns.
Bluefin, starts from April and goes off and on with good night fishing through May-June, then starts to turn into good day time fishing through the Summer and sometimes into the Fall.
Yellowfin, is going to be when the water is at its hottest, so sometimes as early as August, but usually October - November.
Every year is different though! Just have to pay attention to the counts.
Really good bluefin fishing going on currently
Congrats Ray! Time to hit the 40# mark! Seems like things are heating up in the local zone as well.
Broke the 40# mark the next day lol!
I need to get back down there!
Heck yeah bro congrats. Epic. We had super epic yellowtail iron fishing last week at Coronados. And also. I’m super interested in getting on one of those Tony Reyes trips with ya
So jealous, I've been dying to fish the Coronado Islands! It's still biting out there!
If you are looking into booking a Tony Reyes Trip, make sure to reach out to Longfin Tackle!

Thank you! So stoked!
What do you got spooled on the lexa bro ?

Finally! Surface iron yellows!
It's literally what I live for!
@Dirty.Hookers, what reel and iron do you use. Look like you're in San Felipe
Nice Ray
you hooked a BOLA Guardian Bro.... you got one of our pets
So many much bigger ones out there! We saw some absolute monsters!
What clamp is that?
Looks like a steel baits rod clamp 🤷🏼♂️
as soon as they are posted for sale they sell out quickly
Awesome video and yellows! what are the specs on that axis phenix?
Thanks man! Phenix Axis 1009HJ, 10' 30 - 60 lb
Nice video. I know where that is. Smith Island across from La Gringa. My favorite fishing area. I have caught many fish there over the years. Thanks for the video. It brings back good memories. My favorite lure was the Salas 6X junior in white & blue. I have taken two Tony Reyes trips down there, but I prefer towing my own boat down there & I can move around to different spots for different species.
That’s so rad you have your own boat and can do whatever you want out there with no time limitations!
I am grateful the pangeras will work with you and put you on any kind of fishing you want to go for, but having your own boat would be very game changing!
Those were some donkeys Bro. Great going 🤙🏻
Nice! What surface iron did you use?
That was. JRI 4 in mint gold!
