I just finished Doom 3 not too long ago and that game is genuinely good. Gets so much hate from the Doom community but I feel like if you love Alien or Resident Evil 4, you’ll love Doom 3.
That last part right there is kind of the point. Like you say, it's a great game, just not a good DOOM game. Don't get me wrong I like Doom 3, but it would have better if Id Software didn't slap the Doom name onto it, and was it's own, brand new IP instead. Heck, they might have even gotten away with it if it was just a spinoff not involving Doomguy, and not a numbered sequel.
it's literally doom 1/2 lol so sick of kids sayings "iT's NoT a DoOm GaMe" shit is almost a meme at this point. If you played the first 2 dooms you'd see how it's literally a natural progress with a minimal survivor aspect that is barely present.
@@kpeguyebbers850they gave us that with prey not long after doom 3, but doom 3 still is just awesome. If doom 3 isn't doom because of the changes then doom eternal is absolutely not doom because it changes some of the very core doom gameplay, that being, if you had the skills, you could defeat literally any enemy with just the doom guy's fists. Even in 2016, and other than bosses, doom 3 carrys that over. Eternal added these enemies that could Only be defeated a certain way with a certain weapon, something literally every other shooter does and something doom didn't do and that's one of the reasons doom always stood out. To me eternal, while a great game, is not very doom for that decision.
Happy I found this channel! I saw scenes of Evil Dead:Fistful of Boomstick and was so happy when I thought I’d see you cover it. Please do it’s the first horror game of my childhood and though I’m biased I think a hidden gem.
The endless hours I would spend staring at the Hellknight in the cover art of Doom 3 in the game store. What a spectacular game! I especially enjoyed the co-op multiplayer mode exclusive to the xbox port. One of the most gratifying cooperative experiences I ever had!
I completely forgot about Jaws Unleashed definitely need to talk about that one. Area 51 is one of my favorites though. Legitimately freaked me out back in the day.
I remember being a 16-year-old with the mindset of an innocent child when I first played & beat the suffering on xbox, I was terrified, but I still pushed through it, I'm 36 now, and today I'm still impressed by my old young self, it took a lot of courage to get through that all alone, it was extremely dark & creepy & my perfect crt tv made the black levels, contrast & overall look really pull me into the world, creeeepy.
Fun Fact: if you have a DVD copy of the terrible DOOM movie, it has a playable demo of DOOM 3 on disc if you have the OG Xbox DVD Playback Kit, it only works on OG Xbox
Manhunt, a game modern Rockstar would likely never make today. Man I miss that Rockstar. Shame they didn't port Manhunt 2 to Xbox, but they made a Wii port lmao. I'd add The Punisher, as Frank is pretty much a slasher killer to the bad guys in that game. RIP Volition who made it. Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War has good horror levels too.
I've played the Wii port of Manhunt 2 and its kind of insane lol. The Punisher and Return to Castle Wolfenstein are both excellent games. You are right thought that the punisher has a slasher feel.
Yeah definitely need to add Haunted Mansion, Dino Crisis and The Thing. I did talk about Obscure in my first episode if you are interested. Unfortunately Ju-On, Haunting Grounds, and Eternal Darkness did not make their way to Xbox.
Didn''t know there was actually a Constantine Game. I only played the both Matrix Games and i highly recommend Path of Neo if u wanna have the REAL Matrix Experience :)

Omg Curse. Never hear anyone talk about that game! My mom bought it for me at GameStop. I remember playing it, but didn’t really enjoy it all that much! FUN FACT: Doom 3's annoying feature that made you have to choose between flashlight or gun, was later fixed to where you can use your gun while having your light on at the same time. This version became known as Doom 3 ''BFG''. It was an updated version that fixed this annoying feature that players complained about.
I wouldn't say it's a bad mechanic inherently, just one that gets old extremely quickly. And I think BFG Edition only band-aids the problem, in a very clumsy way, I might add. I would have done something similar, BUT it would be in the form of a weapon attachment you get a little bit later on into the game. So for the first few levels, you would still have to switch between the two, which I personally think adds an air of tension, and forces the player to make uncomfortable decisions, which is what the original Doom 3 was trying to get at anyways.
@@kpeguyebbers850 You say... //And I think BFG Edition only band-aids the problem, in a very clumsy way, I might add.// You were playing it in a different reality then. Theres a game ive been trying to remember the name of FOREVER, hoping someone can help me.... If my memory serves me right, in Cold Fear you are a member of the US Coast Guard. In the intro scene I think a squad of Navy Seals gets wiped out and the guy who is charge asks for any assets within the area. Thus is why your character gets involved since his ship was the closest.
