Breakdown is one of my top gems from the original Xbox, I remember playing it at random after a school day and was hooked. The story was absolutely stunning as well as the immersion. Thanks for including it. I have some of the fondest memories with Return to Castle Wolfenstein on the Xbox next to Halo.
I tried a demo of it on an OXM demo disc and was freaking enthralled. I immediately rented it, then bought it shortly after. Such an underrated absolute classic.
_Deus Ex: Invisible War_ is pure stupid fun, and the best entrance to the series, while teaching you (the player) about the biggest conspiracy of all....
@@WolfyRagnarokit’s a good game but not a worthy sequel to what is perhaps the greatest immersive sim ever, the original Deus Ex. It’s kinda of similar to what AC: Odyssey is to the original AC formula; I love that game, but it’s really just an open world “rpg” with the AC brand slapped on.
Probably already mentioned in another comment, but red faction 2 was another solid one. With an absolutely frenetic multiplayer that rivaled Unreal in my eyes.
Just started playing Timsplitters 1 and have 2 in the que. Man how did I miss a good title the story has actually made me laugh a few times really good gem
Pariahs map editor was so interesting aswell for us map making lovers and dont get me wrong time splitters map editor also scratched that itch. On another note black was such a beautiful when i first plays it. The graphics were something else.
Excellent video showcasing fantastic Xbox shooters! I added "Pariah" to my original Xbox buy-list, thanks for the recommendation! I adore "Black" & "Wolfenstein RTC: Tides of War", incredible shooters! "Operation Resurrection" on the PS2 is a even better single player game with more RPG upgrades & hidden areas with Gold you can use in upgrades.
@campxbox That PS2 game & "Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2" are that rare case where the PS2 version is better than the original Xbox port believe it or not. Typically the Xbox version is always the better looking & performing ports.
That's right! Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 plays very differently on the PS2 compared to the Xbox version. Never played it on PS2 though. Apparently, the game is much harder on Xbox
I wonder if one day modders will make the actual original Halo CE backwards compatible for modded series s / x ... would be awesome to see it in its true original graphical glory in 4K!
I am SO glad someone finally acknowledged the existence of Breakdown. Absolutely one of my all-time favourite games, and yet no one's ever heard of it lol. I would love a modern remake--especially in VR.
@@campxbox Yeah. Sony is bad in BC too. Back on PS4 when PS2 games got trophies and AA, higher res and etc I tough It to be so amazing. Seeing the original GTA SA on ~792 was so good, that orange sky... Well, now the PSP games on PS5 is something but still, it's like Sony doesn't really care. If they start for real adding games, Microsoft will have to do something. We just need the achievements because the emulator on Xbox is a Lot better than what Sony did. PS2 games on PS5 on BC with PS4, no enhancements, Crazy stuff and wast of opportunities. This game Breakdown looks so interesting, I have never seen gameplay. Is avaiable here in Brasil, hard to go on sale but It's no expansive. I might get some reward points for It. Thank you!
Hello sir. Great video! I am currently collecting for OG Xbox and want to have a full set of all FPS games. Just bought Die Hard Vendetta and Painkiller: Hell Wars. I wasn't aware that Breakdown was a FPS game. Will have to get that one too 😂 Would be good if you could cover some more on a part 2 video. As you mentioned in your video there are many on the OG Xbox. Pariah isn't really rated highly and most of the youtube videos are based on the PC version anyway, last time I checked. Keep up the great work! 👍
I’ve kinda given up on the new consoles and find myself playing more older games now. The Xbox has so much to offer and most games are still reasonably priced unlike the GameCube for example that has just gotten stupid
Breakdown is one I picked up to play on my Xbox One years ago, and have wanted to give it a chance. It always looked awesome! Pariah is one I knew nothing about (other than seeing the cover in stores back in the day) and sounds like a sweet game! Also, TimeSplitters 2 is easily my favorite FPS for the 6th gen! Awesome video man!
Great picks for the video! I really liked the theee Medal of Honor games, Counter-Strike, and Viet Cong: Purple Haze on the Original Xbox. I never got to try the Original Xbox port of Half Life 2, but would like to.
Shout out to my childhood friends JT and Skylar for showing me breakdown. I have an awesome little collection of memories being in their room playing breakdown til the wee hours of the morning. Thanks for the great video.
Wow, I felt like I was the only one to remember Pariah. I only played a demo of it from Xbox Magazine but I remember thinking the weapons were really interesting.
There's a better time line out in the mitliverse where Breakdown got as big as Halo. It's a personal favorite of mine and it still feels the "future of gaming." A true first person adventure and not just a first person shooter.
I remember playing Pariah on my pc when it came out and liking it a lot. It was overshadowed by Doom 3 and Half Life 2 at the time but my pc couldn't handle those games while this played nicely.
I still love the Return to Castle Wolfenstein better than the Newer ones...even the 360 Wolfenstein...no sex or cursing...just fun, and with partial real History! and I am an recent ex-soldier from 2009.
Thanks I'll give these a try. I've been playing og-xbox Robocop it's a bit janky but I like it. I think there's a new Robocop game a few weeks away too.
The original xbox is hands down the best 6th generation console. Online capability (thats still accessible today) and the variety of games for all demographics.
I remember my father renting Pariah from a blockbuster and him playing it. Pariah was supposed to be a “Halo Killer” but failed miserably and ended up being a flop. I still loved its soundtrack though. Super underrated soundtrack and graphics were beautiful for its time.
Does anyone remember how FLIPPIN AMMMAAAZZINNNG Ghost RECON !? Either the first or second...maybe both? You have a 6..? 3 man team and you can jump from one team member to another and the body's stayed where they fall throughout the entire mission and so was the blood. You can go into any building...just the best EVER !!!!! MUCH BETTER THAN THE SEQUELS
ive been trying to find a game i use to play on a xbox original that was very simular to halo i think it may have been fps might of been a 3rd person shooter tho and there was a base inbetween missions you could talk to people i also remember a shooting range have never found anything on it
@blakbear6528 so is your mom. Don't get me wrong I'm not ungrateful....but it's just a bit overrated...I was hoping for a water slide but she gave me Sky diving...spelunking in a MASSIVE cave....she's so massively spread out like the grand canyon that her CONSTANT droning on and on about what a disappointment you are actually echoes ...😂 IT ECHOES !? which is kinda good news for you because she's only 1/3 as dissatisfied, disappointed, and disgusted by you as me and the other 20 cave divers taking turns 5 at a time thought. Echo Echo Echo....the fact that she's cut down the possible farm animals that might be your dad to 5 options has got to be pretty exciting for you ! At least I think it's down to 5....I suppose cow could mean the whole herd ? She's certainly got the space to accommodate a herd of heifers down there. Still though that's got to reduce the amount of shame those diseased sheep you've been abusing must feel. Sooo...good news ?
6:51 I gotta disagree with that statement. I grew to absolutely love Timesplitters 2, and Future Perfect, and still play them on emulators for their arcade modes today. But the shooting is the most NOT straightforward I've seen in a shooter lol. Having the aiming reticle not locked to the center of the screen really made the game more challenging, because the reticle always wanted to be pulled back to the center of the screen, and having a reticle pull against you while trying to snipe something was a PITA. Now it's one of the features that I enjoy and makes more satisfying to get clean kills.
I have to say that I tried Timesplitters 1 on the PS2 and I'm Lucky that we didn't get this one. For me the first one is actually not really good. Also u don't miss anything about the Story if u start with 2.
The first game is basically just a more barebones and fast paced version of TS2. Compared to other shooters around 2000, it certainly holds its own. Aside from the wonky aiming, it nailed the console thumbstick setup a whole year before Halo did.
I like how the title implies that Halo was fantastic when it objectively was not. Halo was at best a mediocre shooter which, since day one, has coasted on one part console tribalism (being Xbox exclusive) and one part patriotism (being an american made game on an american made console). If you take all subjective factors out of the equation, most (if not all) the games on this list are better than the original Halo, and Halo 2.
Man you are single handily keeping memories of the original Xbox alive. Really important for historical reference.
Timesplitters 2 always feels like the Goldeneye of the 6th gen of consoles, the true sequel of goldeneye 64.
Time splitters multiplayer mode is what makes it shine for me, it had deathmatches and fun modes like infected. got some good memories of that game.
