Splatterhouse 3 was the only game as a kid that scared me. It was those cut scenes that did it. I rented it so many times, regardless. I still think of the "Jennifer smells of rot...of the grave" scene all the time. I never made it past that point as a child, haha.
I actually have a weird little memory of Splatterhouse 3 or a game like it. I Dunno if I rented a romhack copy of it from the store as a kid or maybe some knock off but I remember several details that are different from any version of 3 I can find online.
I totally agree with you but I guess you needed to be a gamer in 88' for the full impact of it. Not long after that, I imported the Mega drive when it was first released in Japan. Good times.
This was awesome! I learned about so many new games, and also saw some upgraded versions of some stuff I knew from the Master System. Congratulations on another masterpiece!
@@KCUFyoufordoxingme Awww thanks for thinking of me! Burst is awesome! I've been pals with him on Twitch for a few years now. I'm glad he's doing stuff here as well.
lol I remember that when I was a kid I convinced my mom to get me Ecco The Dolphin because it's a peaceful game and you just swim around as a dolphin! Little did she (or I, for that matter) know that Splatterhouse would have been far less damaging on my poor little mind.
@TheSecondIDare That's okay, if I has a nickel for everytime I've done that... I mean I'd have a handful of change but I wouldn't really be able to buy anything.
If you liked Polterguy you might like a PC game that came out around the early 2000s called "Ghost Master." It's like the sims but you play as a variety of ghosts trying to scare the crap out of people. Last time I checked it was $2.74 dollars on Steam.
Great video! You forgot one title though...Barney's Hide & Seek Game! After all, you are Barney stalking the children as they hide in terror from the big purple predator! I'm joking! Again, great video. Hope you do one for the SNES!
there used to be an altered beast arcade machine at the local 7-11. my brother and i used to go and play it all the time. i was so bad at the game and was so impressed when i saw him and a friend get to the second level lol. good times.
I think you've really hit your stride in this kind of content. Getting SNES Drunk vibes with this kind of retro coverage. Happy to have subbed, here's to more!
Ever since your NES video I've been waiting patiently for another Halloween upload from you! You exude the perfect Halloween vibes in my opinion, not to serious, not to silly, just right. Thanks for the uploads, great job.
Great video! I can attest to Undead Line being nasty with zero checkpoints! That makes it tough to beat casually and definitely the 1cc! The cemetery stage music was my favorite and still stuck in my head.
This was a really fun watch - it brought me back to a number of games I played as a kid. And also introduced me to many I had no idea existed! Looking forward to seeing more from you
I thought to myself “this voice sounds familiar…” then saw the name. Thanks for sharing here on YT as well! (Not just TTV) I need to give some of these a go.
Thank you for such a great video. This is awesome, bro. I would also add: Animaniacs: level where you need to get Jason's mask. Spot goes to hollywood: Haunted House level and the last level where a xenomorph will hunt you. Pirates of Dark Water: Level 2 where zombies come out of their graves and there is the most depressing music Midnight resistance: the final boss is really creepy Michael Jackson's Moonwalker: Graveyard Level
Awesome video! First time finding the channel, and I immediately subscribed. I love that you dug into the super obscure titles in the catalog. Kinda surprised Shinobi III didn't get a mention. The bio lab level has some solid sci-fi horror vibes leading up to the horrifying Hydra fight.
I just really want to say thank you because I think these really are great pieces that I think a lot of people will come back in time and time again I know that I will
I remember playing the demo of Nightmare Circus on SEGA Channel in the Test Drives section. Didn't really know what to think about it at the time, it just seemed kind of weird. Splatterhouse 3 though... the monochrome digitized cutscenes with that creepy music made me genuinely uneasy the first time I saw them. Such a good idea for a weekend rental being left home alone for the evening while my parents went out to dinner, haha!
Amazing video. I just wanted to say thanks, this was super cool and I learned about all sorts of new games I’ve never even heard of before for the Genesis. Definitely subscribed your channel absolutely needs more views. Great work!
Just stumbled upon this video while i was hunting for some good horror games to emulate and man you really outdid yourself with this video. The good quality sound of your narration, the cool visual aesthetic and a list with plenty of deep cuts i've never heard of, i'm definitely subscribing.

Dude I totally remember doing the same as a kid…my mom would rent it at Hollywood video…and it was my pre resident evil….
I’m right there with you. I must’ve been like 6 or 7 years old when I saw those cut scenes and they creeped me the f out.
lights off in the living room and the souls come out of the diamond 💎 😮
For me as a child, Jennifer with her skull bloated was the worst part, even worse than the complete mindless beast transformation.
I actually have a weird little memory of Splatterhouse 3 or a game like it. I Dunno if I rented a romhack copy of it from the store as a kid or maybe some knock off but I remember several details that are different from any version of 3 I can find online.
I can't be the only one who thinks Chakan looks a hell of a lot like Eddie, Iron Maiden's mascot.
Probably inspired. The game metal vibes definetly lend credence to that.
Look up the Cover for "Chiller" for the NES lol.
Eddie meets Solomon Kain
Your Decap Attack puns were head and shoulders above the competition.
That first boss in Altered Beast will forever be one of the greatest 16 bit visuals of all time.
Not really
@@Matt.Willoughby a giant shit monster that rips off its head and throws it at you? Yeah that was and still is incredible.

@@Matt.Willoughby Everyone can have their own opinion, no matter how stupid and retarded it sounds.
59:10 Zero Tolerance! I remember my friend rented ZT on a Friday night sleepover and we were playing it in the dark with blankets over our heads 😨😱😬
Man, seeing Chakan I completley forgot about that game. And instantly had flashbacks of nostalgia, and endless hours playing. I loved that game
This was awesome! I learned about so many new games, and also saw some upgraded versions of some stuff I knew from the Master System. Congratulations on another masterpiece!
Same here. I'm glad to see the classics in there too. The haunting is already on the list!
I was legit about to send you a link to this video...

The almighty algorithm suggested you to me this evening and boy am I glad. Great video and can't wait to check your back catalog.
One of the best if not THE best retro round up. Well done my man
Excellent Video! Loved all the nostalgia and games I missed growing up. I'm 44 so this was my favorite era of gaming.
thank you for the much needed Genesis love, some gorgeous art and music here!
Also Haunting Staring Polterguy is one of my favorite games of all time, and i 100% Agree it could have been a FANTASTIC Beetlejuice game!
Quality content! Love that you actually allow the music and sound effects to seep through from time to time. Many gaming UA-camrs forget this!
Finally someone else who knows "wise from your gwaves"
Check out Kim Justice, she has a lisp, loves the Mega Drive and often references it.
All of the puns during the Decap Attack section...I appreciate you, sir.
Thanks for making the game info more readable! I think this type of content is your forte!

I rented Ecco the dolphin and never got past the Bay Area in the start, I guess I should be grateful lol
i LOVED The Haunting: Staring Polterguy as a kid! i wish i still had my Mint Copy :(
I would have put Ecco the dolphin on this list. I maintain that Ecco is a horror game, in disguise.
Guessing you didn't wait until the end of the video lol
@@tinkerer3399Well...that's embarrassing.
@TheSecondIDare That's okay, if I has a nickel for everytime I've done that... I mean I'd have a handful of change but I wouldn't really be able to buy anything.
Technically, a sci-fi
THANK YOU. That game always terrified and intrigued me as a kid. It was the music.. yeah the aliens were scary as hell. 👄

@@maskedbadass6802 oh my goodness…and I love The Sims too!!! Perfect combo.
Now this is kind of content I come to youtube for. Awesome video man
thanks so much, I can say the same for your videos as well!
Viewing Splatterhouse 3 as a beat 'em up with a horror theme, rather than as a sequel that didn't quite work has suddenly made me re-evaluate it.
aww yeaa!! i loved ur nes video so this is extra sweet to see!
Steller video👍, the unique borders for each game is a nice touch.
Great video!
You forgot one title though...Barney's Hide & Seek Game! After all, you are Barney stalking the children as they hide in terror from the big purple predator!
I'm joking! Again, great video. Hope you do one for the SNES!
Nice. I see Chakan is here! I'm gonna have a lot of new entries in my bad vgm playlist c:
Another excellent horror compilation!
Excited to play these around Halloween time.
great video, man !!
i was late to the castlevania: bloodlines train, but it's so fun 🤙🏾
An easy going listen. I am a fan. I will need to check out some of you other videos.
I really enjoyed this, a lot of work put into the video too.
Great job yet again, Burst.. how you produce these lengthy videos so quickly is crazy impressive. A lot of fun to watch!
Splatterhouse for life!!!!
I've never been more ready to *wise from my gwave*
Hell yeah I was just thinking "I hope he makes another one of these"
Very nice!
Thorough and extensive. Ton of titles here I'd never heard of before. Nice job!!
Great video! I love long videos. Been really into the Genesis lately so I’m going to try and find some of these :)

Great video! love an nostalgia shines more for these during October.
Aw, quality content. This channel is amazing, keep up the great work, dude.
Great video idea and congratulations on their success 🎉🎉
This is fantastic thank you, I had forgotten about Skeleton Krew, it had some amazing design
Chakan the Forever Man is SO Underated.
absolutely agree! so good once you start figuring out how it operates
Maniaxe is definitely Rick Taylor down to the sleeveless jumpsuit lol!

snesdrunk actually mentions if a game is crappy

Yeah, he def does embody halloween pretty well. More Halloween stuff would be really awesome.
Wow man I know quite a lot of genesis games but you opened my eyes to a bunch of japanese ones I've never heard of before!
These compilations are fantastic!!!
Man, another amazing compilation. You're spoiling us with your incredible output.
The mocking laugh of the dark one, Death!
Was happy to see Ghostbusters and Alien Storm in the list. However, where was Fantasia? It’s the most horrific Genesis game I’ve ever played.
haha, adding that one to the video crossed my mind honestly
Dark Castle is 10 times worse than Fantasia actually.
Man o man I love these videos you gotta do one for the SNES and PlayStation
This channel has a criminally low amount of subscribers. Love this list and the commentary
I just stumbled upon this video and your channel for the first time. Very well done! I look forward to watching more of your stuff.
thanks so much! working on another big one currently :)
Great video! I can attest to Undead Line being nasty with zero checkpoints! That makes it tough to beat casually and definitely the 1cc! The cemetery stage music was my favorite and still stuck in my head.
This was a perfect video, you included everything I could imagine! Even mentioned how creepy phantasy star was! 😂
Just brilliant 👏
Thank you!! 😁
Aaaaawwww yeahhh! Gonna get comfy in the couch, get me some popcorn, and watch some beautiful 16-bit horror pixel art! Thanks! 🩸🤘🏻
that Dahna Megami game looks gnarly af
I love how Alien 3 is actually titled Alien 3th.
Such a great video! I didn't realize just how many games were out on the Genesis with a horror aesthetic to them. Love your style!
Decap attack was the first game I ever played on Genesis and haunting I got for Christmas at some point. Both fun but flawed times.
Really good stuff, now I want to go back and beat Ecco the dolphin
Outstanding video, Burst! You highlighted all of my favorites and a couple I haven't tried. Cheers
Something about 16bit era audio that is so distinctive to me it sends my right back to being 10 years old again
Really love these videos. Keep up the great work! 🙂
I'm only 21 mins in and THIS IS SO FASCINATING! There's like, a hundred games here I am yet to play for my favorite console!
The springy sound effect when you jump in Decap Attack is etched into my mind and ears.
Very good video! I learned some new tidbits of info about some of these games which is quite rare for me considering how long I’ve been in the game.
Holy heckin crap, what a video. The "humerus" line got me.
Man I thought you could only turn into a werewolf in Altered Beast... shows how good I was at that game. Then again I was like 4
This is AWESOME! Thank you so much for these videos!
Chakan's face is basically Iron Maiden's Eddie.
Great video. Thanks!
GG Burst! Another excellent video!
Great video man. I def have never even seen many of these
That vertical worm thing from Richard Scarry is legit sccaarrryyy
Didn't realize who I was watching until I glanced down! Great video man.
Mate your a legend for showing these games. As growing up was poor, couldn't afford most of it. But emulation has brought the joys of real games back.
Warlock was a nice surprise! And Wolfchild is EXCELLENT!
This was a really fun watch - it brought me back to a number of games I played as a kid. And also introduced me to many I had no idea existed!

fun fact what became legacy of kain was actually going to be chakan the forever man's 2nd game
I know it's not a horror game but the bosses in Wiz and Liz are terrifying!
Good video thank you, love the old Megadrive games, they were the best imo. There's a mod that enhances Chakan game also 👍
Being a retro gamer most of these are favorites of mine & aslo thank you for giving me ideas on what to play for this year spooky season.
