This video couldn't have come at a better time!! I'm getting ready to start a HAED project 1 over 1 on 25 count. This is perfect. I was sad that I wouldn't be able to use the loop method to start my threads!! Thank you Pam!!
Interesting, and too funny as I did mine like that the other day by mistake and found that it held really nicely and it lays flatter than the normal way to do the pin stitch. So glad you showed us this, now I won't have a guilty conscience of doing something the wrong way !! LOL !
That's a different way to do it. I like that you can pin it from the front that way. I've just been doing a regular pin stitch vertically on vertical fabric threads & horizontally on horizontal fabric threads. With evenweave being two strands of fabric weave it comfortably lends itself to these pin stitch techniques. Thanks for sharing, Pam, I'll definitely give this a go. Happy stitching :-)
I have been using that on Aida as well, so was very happy to see someone else doing the same thing. Pin stitch is not the easiest sometimes. I have so much catching up to do as I was in South Africa for three months, no unlimited WI-FI, so could'nt watch any videos and so now doing catch up. With the weather been lousy, its perfect !
I do the diagonal pin stitch when I stitch over 2 and I love it. Thanks so much for the over 1 tutorial !! I'm stitching I Am A Needlesmith over 1 and this will be such a time saver !! 😊👍🏼
+Carolyn Crandall I didn't think pin stitch could be done over 1 until I gave it a try and realized as long as your fabric is sturdy enough you can split the thread. Don't think it would work on linen over 1 though. Happy stitching
Thanks so much for this. Starting with a tail was my one big drawback against one over one thread but this makes it look easy. And Lugana is my fave fabric so perfect
Brilliant!! Going to be so useful for my next piece which has so much confetti its a nightmare, lol. In one 10x10 square there are 25 different colours! and that is like a lot of the piece. So this pin stitch is a huge help. Thank you!!!!
Thanks! I'm learning all kinds of new things. I have an American Dreams stand that I broke with all the turning over to start and finish this will save a lot of wear and tear as well as torque!
I knew there was the perfect way, for me, of starting one thread on 25ct. I actually watched this when you first posted it and only found it again when searching "coverage on one over one on 25ct". Starting HAED Dragon Forge (63 pages 😬) Thanks again for the help!!
I have watched both of your tutorials on the Pin stitch. Which one do you mostly do please? Also I am doing a full coverage on 25 ct Lugana ,1 over 1 and I am struggling with how to start and finish for a confetti stitch. Please can you point me to where I can see how it’s done. I’m a beginner with full coverage 🫶🏻
If it's full coverage 1 over 1 I typically will start with a diagonal pin stitch and end the thread by running the rail under nearby stitches on the back. You could also end the thread with a vertical or horizontal pin stitch. I'll try to record another video showing multiple ways. Hope that helps.
Does anybody know what the hedgehog with the hat and scarf is on the beginning of this vid called it looks like you hold pins and it sticks to the fabric thanks you can see it at about 18 seconds
+Sam Kennedy That's my Christmas fox needleminder. ☺ There is a magnet on the back of the fox and a second magnet that attaches to it from the back of your fabric holding it in place. There are lots of places that sell needleminders on etsy.
Hi Pam. I have a question about stitching on 25 count 1 over 1. I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. How do you avoid "losing" your threads? I read somewhere that depending on whether the vertical line is going over or under the horizontal line of the fabric will determine whether you go from bottom right to top left hole or top left hole to bottom right hole? I hope this is making sense. I don't have anyone to discuss this with and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Thanks for your time. Pam Mixon
+Pam Mixon I personally haven't had much issue with this however if you look up a tutorial for stitching on linen some people explain the technique regarding starting your stitching next to a vertical thread vs a horizontal thread.
+A Stitch Too Far Thanks for watching. Yes for longer tutorials I try to set up the camera but I figured a quick and easy video would suffice this time.
Pam's Crafty Corner sorry for so many questions....... still learning. Is there a reason you prefer to bury your threads? Do you feel it secures the stitch better?
No worries about the questions. ☺ I bury my threads just because I've always done it that way. I find it neat and I've always found it secure. Never had an issue with a thread coming out ,which is important, when you wash your pieces after stitching like I do.
+Solaf Aziz Yes it's a pin stitch or pin head stitch. Usually it's done when stitching over 2 threads but I modified it slightly and also use it when stitching over 1 thread.
This is great. I have been looking for a way to do the pin stitch one over one. Going to try this on 28 count, fingers crossed. I had a quick question though. Can you also end it with a pin stitch on one over one? Have you tried it, and if so, does it work as well as this?
+Liliana Martinho I haven't tried ending with a pin stitch over 1 but I do know you can do it over 2. Therefore I would think doing it over 1 would work as well if you're splitting the middle.
I did manage to end it with a pin stitch as well but it didn't seem as secure since i was trying to hide it in the under cross (if that makes sense) so i just ran it under a couple of stitches on the back to make sure it was secure enough to not come undone :)
Thanks for the vid, it's very helpful :D I wonder, if you use pin stitch for ending a color too and how you're doing it? That's the only problem I only have, when I came to the end of my pictures.
+Mirjam G. You can use it for ending your thread as well but only if it's ending in a space that will then be stitched over with another colour to cover the thread end. Not sure if that makes sense.

Thanks for watching. There's lots of flosstube content you can catch up on.
@@PamsCraftyCorner Tell me about it, I am still not caught up !! All the best for the New Year !
Thank you! That was a super clear way of explaining a diagonal pin stitch. So necessary for my first HAED.
Thanks for sharing this with us Pam, love this pin stitch.
Love!!!! Where has this been all my stitching life?!? Thanks, Pam!!! ~Amy~

Pam's Crafty Corner I'll let you know..I'm using 25 Ct Zweigart evenweave. 😊
Thanks so much for this. Starting with a tail was my one big drawback against one over one thread but this makes it look easy. And Lugana is my fave fabric so perfect
Hi.. just chanced upon your tutorial and what a great find! Thank you for the clear instructions and looking forward to more ...
Good video Pam and a great tip to try . Many thanks.
its so good to see you and i always enjoy your videos and lovely work.

Happy to hear it will help. I've been using it for a long time now on my full coverage pieces.
Thank you Pam! :) Excellent tutorial. Going to try this as I've been doing the waste-knot start method on my 25ct lugana HAED project.
Thanks! I'm learning all kinds of new things. I have an American Dreams stand that I broke with all the turning over to start and finish this will save a lot of wear and tear as well as torque!
This is so nice. Thanks for your help. love all your videos. keep them coming please:))
+crossstichgram Thanks for watching.

Yeah! Happy to hear it helped. Good luck with your HAED. 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to shoot this tutorial!
Thanks Pam I restarted my already restarted Haed so I will use this instead of waste knots happy stitching xx
I found this very helpful, thank you for making it!
Thanks. Happy to hear you found it helpful.
Wow, this is great! Thank you for sharing! 😃

Thanks Pam. I use diagonal pin stitch on my 18ct Star Wars project but my next HAED will be on 25ct and I wasn't sure how it was going to work.
Excellent! So clear and easy to understand.
Brilliant! I can't wait to try that!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing this, do you have a version for ending a thread this way? or do you end with waste knots?
Thanks, Pam!

Oooh, I like that. I'm going to have to try this.
Great idea!!! Thanks for sharing!

+A Stitch Too Far Thanks for watching. Yes for longer tutorials I try to set up the camera but I figured a quick and easy video would suffice this time.
Great tip. Curious as to why you don't use the loop method?
I do use the loop method when stitching with 2 strands of floss. This is just for when stitching with 1 strand. You can't double your floss over then.
Pam's Crafty Corner ahh. That makes sense. Didn’t think about that. Do you think this method would work for finishing a thread?
Yes. It certainly would. I know people use it but I tend to weave mine through the stitching on the back.
Pam's Crafty Corner sorry for so many questions....... still learning. Is there a reason you prefer to bury your threads? Do you feel it secures the stitch better?

You are a GODDESS.
+dormouseintea lol. Thanks, I just like to share things I stumble upon that make my stitching easier
thank you for sharing this
is that stitch name apin head stitch right
+Solaf Aziz Yes it's a pin stitch or pin head stitch. Usually it's done when stitching over 2 threads but I modified it slightly and also use it when stitching over 1 thread.
Thanks so much
Will this work with 3 threads ?
It might. I've never tried it.
Thanks Pam!
Great tutorial, thank you!
Thank you! Im going to give this a try! I love all your videos. Im kind of a "groupie" hehe

Love this! Thank you!
Thank you! Thank you ! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for the great vid. Like many others, I’d like to know how to end the thread also.
You can also end with a pin stitch in the same way or weave the end of your thread through the back side of your stitches.
