I hope you find this video uplifting and that it will comfort those of you going through the same thing 🙏🏼😊💗 It's been emotional but it feels really good to talk about it! Mum was much loved and my brother and I chat often about all the wonderful memories we have! Hugs to anyone who needs one today!
Thank you so much for sharing this journey and tribute ❤ In September we lost our stepmother to cancer but in the ICU. The hospital staff were nothing short of wonderful - but I am struck by how much more meaningful it would be to have been able to be at home.
Hi Diane! Thank you for sharing. I know this was not easy for you. Over the years when Mum had been in your videos she always illuminated a light and joy. She was a sweet lady and I always loved seeing her. You did a wonderful job making her last days great and taking care of her. It is so great you got to have that special time with her. Great tribute to your mum! Sending you hugs 🙏🏽🤗
I think that your mum must have been an amazing person. Obviously, she raised wonderful children! And, you, in your own ways, honoured her with loving kindness in the end of life care that you provided. May you feel the hugs that are being sent to you by all of us around the world. 🌎❤
Former hospice nurse here. I had to stop at 8 min into your video to say your very wise words about eating and drinking at end of life are so accurate, gentle, and kind. The body just cannot use that food and fluid. Taking in more than someone naturally wants to at that point can make them very uncomfortable and can make their breathing harder. You talk about those days with so much compassion. Peace to you.
All we can ever ask ,is to go peacefully, in our own bed, in our own home with our loved ones around us.... you and the family gave your mum that gift.
Thank you Diane. I know this was a difficult video for you to make, but it was so uplifting. You and your brother did the best for your mum and sent her off to your dad so peacefully. A family full of love is a special gift. ❤
My mum died this morning eight weeks after a stroke. She was 100 years and 9 months old. The last 5 days she was unconscious and finally passed peacefully into death. My sister and I were with her most of the time and shared many of the experiences you spoke of. However I found that hearing you share your experiences helped to validate mine. It was tough but she had a long and exciting life and we remain forever grateful to her and our father for the life she gave us. I’m sure your video would have helped many others through their experience of losing a loved one. Thank you for your vulnerability and honesty. Keep making your videos they have helped me immensely. ❤
That was a beautiful tribute to your mum Diane, very brave of you. I had the privilege of looking after my mum in our home after my dad died. My husband and son also played a big part in looking after her too. I've nursed many patients at the end of their lives and it is such a privilege to be there for someone and their family at such a time. I'm so pleased you had that precious time with your mum. Sadly I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to my late husband as it was so sudden and unexpected. One minute I was asking him what he wanted for tea, the next minute I found him collapsed in the garden and me trying to resuscitate him. Dr's, paramedics all in the front garden trying to revive him to no avail. It's 3yrs now and sometimes I still can't talk about him without getting upset. Even with all my nursing experience nothing prepares you for the loss of a loved one. We were soul mates. So once again Diane thank you for sharing your most precious moments with your mum. Such a treasured memory for you. Love and hugs to you. ❤
Be gentle with yourself. It will take you a long time to grieve your Mum. You were so close to her. So feel what you do and let the grieving process happen. We all care so much for you!
Diane, you were such a comfort and blessing to your mom, and what an honor to have been allowed the privilege of bearing witness as her spirit was released from the cares of this world. 💐
Your willingness to be so forthcoming and compassionate has made me a loyal subscriber to your channel. Thank you for opening up and sharing your last days with your mum with us. ❤
Thank you, Diane. You helped me through my mom’s pancreatic cancer diagnosis and death back in July 2020-March 2021. Your videos kept me going with routines and self care as I spent a season caring for and being with her. Your story brought tears with the gin and tonic. I love your son’s wise sentiment. I also love how honoring and loving you made her last weeks and days and how you showed up even when you didn’t know what to do. What a gift you have given to invite us to be with you in this vulnerable space. Hugs. 💜
Thank you Diane….you’re already a great inspiration to thousands of people like me, that you’ve never met, but sharing such a private, heartfelt and moving account of the last days of your wonderful mum’s time in this life, was so generous and kind of you. I am taking care of my 87 year old mum atm since my father passed last year and I have found your video so helpful and supportive. I especially found the part on self care uplifting as I often forget to take care of myself! You continue to be my role model as a routines, self care and hygge expert and please continue the great work you are doing with your videos and helping all your followers! Sending lots of love and hugs and I hope you and your family find peace following the massive loss of your mum. Veena (from England) 🤗 ❤
Beautifully done and very informative Diane. I shed a tear with you as my mum passed away 28 th January this year and like you had to fly to Scotland from England. Wasn’t sure if I’d make it in time but was able to spend the last 48 hours with her. Had to say my goodbyes and fly back a few hours after she passed away. It was a privilege to be with her and send her on her way to Eternity to be with my dad. Big Bosie !❤️
Again, my condolences, Diane. It’s never easy to say goodbye but I’m glad you had this special time with your mom and were able to be there with her. I can’t think of a better way to navigate one of life’s biggest challenges. It is so generous of you to share this video about such a special, sacred time to help those who may have a similar experience.
This was a lovely video with such good information for people who have not been through this type of experience. I am a retired licensed pulpit supply & visitation minister. I have been with quite a few people when they were dying (including my own parent’s & daughter). One lady looked up and said she saw Jesus waiting with open arms. Others pointed up at the ceiling and said they were seeing angels. This is why I am so sure there is a heaven and that our loved ones , Jesus, & the Angels are waiting for us. God Bless You, Diane.👍❤️🎄
Thank you Ms Diane for sharing . Even in difficult times you manage to help people. Shows your beautiful heart. May you be blessed always. Thank you for everything. Big hug
Thank you so much Diane, for sharing this video. The way you speak about your mum is full of warmth - she was obviously a wonderful mum (and you an equally wonderful daughter). It's so appreciated that you have shared this with your followers; we don't talk about dying enough as it is such a difficult subject. I'm so glad that you were there to hear and to honour your wonderful mum's final words. I believe those lightbulbs popping were a message from your dad. She is with him now. Lots of love to you xxxxxx
Dear Diane, thank you so much for being so open, sincere and strong! It's so kind and generous of you to share those precious memories and those practical knowledge. A big hug for you❤❤❤
We found lots of photos in various places in my mum and brother’s house after they died, such a shame we didn’t get to ask her about them. We have a lot of detective work ahead!
Thank you so much for sharing, tears the whole way through 😢 how blessed you are to have such a great mom and close relationship, as well as the special time during the end of her life. I’ve not always had a great relationship with my mom, but now I think I’ll give her a call to see if she wants to have a visit today . Time does go quickly Thank you Diane Greetings and blessing from Kim Saskatchewan, Canada
Your relationship with your mother sounds like it was so special from beginning to end. What a beautiful gift you gave to her in her final days as you cared for her. Seems like she had such a bright and happy personality in life, and her spirit will continue to shine on with all your special memories of her. I know she is happily reunited with your Dad in heaven. May they both rest in peace together now.❤🙏
Thank you for sharing this hard time of your life. I just lost my mom 4 years ago and my dad 2 years ago, so my heart goes out to you. You'll always be in my prayers
A big hug to you Diane, and your family💝. It will be two years next month since my mom passed away. She, too, had fallen. Like you, we hadn't experienced this before. The caregivers and hospice nurses were wonderful. I was crying along with you. I believe your story will help others. Thanks for sharing your wonderful mum and your precious moments with her 💖
Oh what a beautiful video and so generous of you to share 🩷💙🩷. My mum passed very suddenly 19 years ago and I never got to tell her that she was a good mum and grandmother and that we all loved her very much. It was lovely to hear your mum enjoyed a last gin and tonic and watching a show with you. Thank you, Diane. Xx
How beautiful, Diane. You took such wonderful care of your mom! It is so generous of you to share this with us. We have lost both my father and my father-in-law in the last few years. Praying for you as you continue adjusting to life without your mom. ❤
Hello Diane, this is very generous of you and can't have been easy. I wish I had been able to watch something like this before my mum died - so I know for sure that this will help many, many people going forward. You and your brother did your mum proud.
Diane, I discovered your videos a couple months ago and have loved everyone. From the bottom of my heart, I admire your willingness to be vulnerable and share the story of your final days with your mom. I went through a similar experience and I'm sorry for your loss. The way that you cared for her will be something you can always be proud of. ❤
Thank you, wonderful, brave Diane! You’ve put together a beautiful, heartfelt and inspiring video. With lots of important information on how to help our loved ones in their final days, especially for those of us, like you, with no previous experience ❤😢💔
Loved this video, Diane, thank you for sharing it. Lots of good info, I remember learning some of the same things when my mother-in-law passed 12 years ago. So precious to hear how much you loved her and how well you took care of her in her last days. I especially loved the part about saying hi to your father!!❤
Thank you for this video. I was looking after my Mom and suddenly she stopped eating. I finally told her that I had to call 911 as I couldn’t look after her and try to give her medicine if she was’t eating. She was taken to hospital and died the next morning. It’s brings me some peace to know that not eating is one of the signs that they are on their way out and she probably would have died in the same time frame if she hadn’t gone to hospital. It’s 13 years later and I still miss her. Something you don’t get over. I still miss my Grandmother and she passed in 1961!
Diane, that was a lovely tribute to the joy in life your mother clearly had, and that was passed on to her children. It’s truly a privilege to be able to be with our parents in their last days, caring for them, loving them, talking of happy times and memories. It is hard, and painful to know the end is close, but in time, it’s a comfort and to realize the love that was shared lives on forever.
Diane, I don’t think you will ever really know how helpful this video will be to many people who will be going through this situation. I went to stay with my mom for the last four months of her life so that she could spend her final days in her home. It was such a blessing and a privilege to be able to spend that time together. You give practical information along with a sweet telling of a very intimate time with her. My mom has been gone for 28 years now, but I will never forget that time spent with her. Bless you for the courage to share this with us. ❤
Diane, my mother passed 15 years ago and I learned a lot about end of life care. Losing a loved one is heartbreaking but being able to care for them in their final days can be heartwarming. It can give family time to say those things that never seemed to be said and to insure that the one moving on as well as those remaining behind know they are loved. Thank you for a beautiful and thoughtful video. Every time I see the picture of your mum waving to you, I wave back. You were so fortunate to have such a loving mom and she to have such a loving daughter. May you LLAP always 🖖
Thank you so much for sharing this Diane. This took courage. So much of this strikes a chord with me and my own experiences with my own mum’s passing. I know this will help so many people out there. Well done. ❤
Thank you for sharing Diane. I went through a very similar time when I lost my mum and my dad within 1 year. Thay was 35 years ago, but it all came back when I heard you telling about your mum. 🙏❤️
Diane, thanks so much for sharing this very difficult time for you. I definitely understand all your feelings, having lost my mom over 30 years ago. God bless you. ❤🎉
Dear, dear Diane. Having just found out a friend requested Hospice and a hospital bed, yesterday, your timely, beautiful and vulnerable video felt like pure magic. Thank you for your selfless and knowing giving in this way. You are such an inspiration and your sharing, a total gift. May you continue to honor your feelings and take in the great deal of love coming your way.
Thanks Diane that was lovely and I’m sure will help lots of people. I hope my parents now in their 80s can stay at home. Now I know the importance of hospital beds! Your mum sounds amazing and so glad she got to go out so peacefully with you and your brother.❤
Thank you, Diane, for sharing such a personal story with us. It was beautiful to hear. You and your brother took such perfect care of your Mum in her final days. She raised very good children which is yet another tribute to her. May she rest in peace.
Thankyou Diane for such a lovely, touching and personal video. I'm sure it will be helpful to others finding themselves in the same situation. I too was with both parents when they died at home. I don't know whether anyone else felt the same but I felt there were parallels to labour and birth. I felt pleased that they were both made as comfortable as possible in their last days. Well done to you Diane🤗
Thank you so much for sharing this precious time you had with your Mum! My Mom passed away in hospital 3 years ago, all alone, because of Covid, the hospital did not allow any visitors 😢. I still can't get over that and your experience helped me so much. You and your brother did a wonderful thing by taking such good care of her. Hugs and blessings to you ❤
My dad died in 2000 and my mum in 2014. Electrical items broke and bulbs blew following each of their deaths. It is odd why this happens. Thank you for sharing your story. Sending you much love.
Thank you, Diane. You're content is always uplifting, valuable and heartfelt. This was no different. You have given me gifts of comfort and confidence to stay present in tough times. You are an inspiration. Sending my gratitude and love to you.❤
Sad yet so beautiful at the same time. 😢 It’s so wonderful that you and your brother were able to have that time with your mum. Two years ago, my dad went into intensive care and died eleven days later, without regaining consciousness. We never got to have a proper goodbye. Sending you a warm hug! 🇨🇦
Thank you for the beautiful video, Diane ❤ I'm glad your mum got her proper g&t 😉 your son made a good point! When my granddad died when I was 16 we weren't allowed to wake him when we were leaving because he "had to rest"... I think those last days and moments are about what the person and their family need on an emotional level first and foremost, it's not about 'following protocol'. Well done 😘 and thank you for sharing your experience 🙏
You are the sweetest and most respectful Diane. May your dear mum rest in peace with dad. Hugs, thank you so much for sharing and being so inspiring to many many people
Thanks for sharing. I am going to be working with the elderly for my new job soon. It gives me some perspective of what to expect with the elderly I will be caring for. Perfect time for this video to come up. ❤
That was a big step for you to make the video, Diane. You pitched it just right. Well done and thank you and I hope the process of making the video helped you along your grieving journey. Virtual hugs from the UK ❤
Oh, Diane. What a lovely tribute to your mother. I very, very rarely cry but shed a few tears when you told us about her last words. I'm sure she and her husband, your father, are united again. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you for sharing. My dad is 84 and has dementia. He has deteriorated so much in the last year and knowing the end is coming but not knowing what that will look like is scary. I want to support my mum (his main carer) so knowing what to expect and what things will help is something I appreciate. Loved your mums connection to your dad. xx
It's been about 25 years since my mom died and you really touched my heart today, Diane. I shed a few tears with you and smiled many smiles with you. Being there with a loved one who is passing is one of the most precious experiences we can have. It was for me and it sounds like it was for you too. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Thank you.
Being there for your Mom as she prepared to make her final journey was not only an incredible gift to her, but also the greatest gift to yourself and one that keeps on giving. If you are anything like me, it will continue to comfort you in the years the come. You did an amazing job, Diane. You are a wonderful daughter. Sending you love and best wishes.
What a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing your moms life with all of us here on youtube. You are an incredibly strong person, and your mom is very proud! Hugs, love, and peace to you and your family as you continue to deal with the loss of your mom. ❤❤❤❤
Dear Diane, I do not comment a lot but thank you so much for sharing this raw moment with all The emotions! This Tools lot of anxiety off of my shoulders ❤
Thank you for sharing. I just skipped through the video because I quickly realized that I'm in the wrong mood for such a sentimental video but of course I'm crying. I appreciate how brave you are to share your story. Thank you!
Diane, thank you so much for sharing this with us. My husband passed away almost a year ago. After taking care of him at home for two and a half years, he wound up passing in a hospital. I had no idea when he went into the hospital that he was so close to the end even though there were some signs that I didn't really recognize, such as a gradual decrease in appetite. This happened over the course of a few months, and like you, I was trying to encourage him to eat and worrying when he didn't. I'm so happy that when it was finally her time, your mom passed peacefully with you and your brother at her side. Although emotional, I think the more we talk about death as being part of life can only be a healthy thing for those of us whose time has not yet come. Your videos have encouraged me to move forward through the grief process, concentrate less on things and more on the people who are important to me. A huge hug.
Thank you very much, Diane. Such a beautiful way to remember your mum. ❤ I was with my grandparents in their final moments, but never had to give end of life care as yet. Big hugs to you 🤗
My mother is 93 1/2 years old. This is so helpful. Even if it isn't the same process, at least it gives me some ideas of what may be going on. Thank you.
What a beautiful video. My Mom passed away 11 years ago, sadly enough at the hospital and on my birthday. But my mother in law was able to be at her house at her passing. Thank you for your bravery to share so soon after her passing. I could totally relate. Love you.
❤My thoughts and prayers are with you. This was such a beautiful video. I can imagine your mum looking over you with kindness and love. I thank you so much for this. My Mother in law is 96 and we will soon be facing the same process that you have gone through. I thank you for your courage and grace to present us with this gift of encouragement to be strong when we need it. ❤
Thank you, as always, for content that eases our way through the days and seasons of our lives, and for allowing us to join just a bit in celebrating your mum’s long and gallant life. All the best to you and your brother as you walk the path.
Diane, bless you for doing this beautiful video about losing your dear Mum. I, like so many of your subscribers, have enjoyed seeing you and your Mum during your visits to see her since you started your channel. Thank you for sharing her with us- she, just like you, is a bright light in our lives. Sending you lots of love and hugs. God bless 💕
Thank You So Much For This… My Dad is only 71… He has never been to the hospital… Two weeks ago with a normal 3 months blood work we found out he has AML Leukemia… He is on his 5 day of chemo…. I’m praying with all my heart he will be OK… but I want to let you know I appreciate you sharing with us the love and death of a parent ❤️ 27:40
Thank you for making this video. Not morbid at all - really, really helpful. What a gorgeous, special moment with the light bulbs and your dad and mum. Thank you for sharing these last precious days, your experiences and wisdom. Lots of love to you, and thanks for all you do x
Dear Diane, what a beautiful and touching video. It brought back memories of my sister and I being with my Mom in her final days I coordinated a cal to my brother, who was not able to travel to speak to my Mom for one last time. She was so happy to hear his voice and passed away a few days later Thank you so much for sharing about your Mom ❤
I hope you find this video uplifting and that it will comfort those of you going through the same thing 🙏🏼😊💗 It's been emotional but it feels really good to talk about it! I had tears in my eye when your mom said hi to your dad. i'm sure he was there in that moment ✨

Thank you so much for sharing, tears the whole way through 😢 how blessed you are to have such a great mom and close relationship, as well as the special time during the end of her life.
I’ve not always had a great relationship with my mom, but now I think I’ll give her a call to see if she wants to have a visit today . Time does go quickly
Thank you Diane

Diane, I discovered your videos a couple months ago and have loved everyone. From the bottom of my heart, I admire your willingness to be vulnerable and share the story of your final days with your mom. I went through a similar experience and I'm sorry for your loss. The way that you cared for her will be something you can always be proud of. ❤
Thank you, wonderful, brave Diane! You’ve put together a beautiful, heartfelt and inspiring video. With lots of important information on how to help our loved ones in their final days, especially for those of us, like you, with no previous experience ❤😢💔
It was very moving listening to you talk about your mum. Even though I did not know your mum it brought tears to my eyes. ❤
Loved this video, Diane, thank you for sharing it. Lots of good info, I remember learning some of the same things when my mother-in-law passed 12 years ago. So precious to hear how much you loved her and how well you took care of her in her last days. I especially loved the part about saying hi to your father!!❤
Thank you, Ellen!
I’m certain that in generously sharing your experiences, you will have helped so many people. Thank you. Sending hugs! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much, Karin 💖
Sending hugs and much love to you Diane and your family 🙏💞
Well done. ❤
Thanks, Mandy!
I’m sure you and your brother were such a comfort to your mom. God bless your family. ❤️
God bless you, Diane. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thanks a lot for share, such a beautiful video about your mom’s last days. Such a video to stop and reflect about life, care and Love ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing. As someone who has lost both her parents, I feel your pain. It is a very bittersweet time.
Bless you Diane ❤
Thank you for sharing with us Diane❤ sending much love❤
Thank you Diane. That was very helpful. I'm so glad you were able to be there and be a support to your mom and your brother. Sending hugs
Hugs and blessings to you ❤
You were such a comfort to your mum on those tough days, dear Diane! This video shows great compassion and true love ❤️
This was an incredible gesture from such a kind heart. Thank you for sharing your experience so openly with us all.
My dad died in 2000 and my mum in 2014. Electrical items broke and bulbs blew following each of their deaths. It is odd why this happens. Thank you for sharing your story. Sending you much love.
Yes, so intriguing about the lightbulbs 😃💡💡💡
💗 How kind of you to share these precious moments here. Big hug to you.
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing your experience, your feelings, and helping us along the way to experience the beauty of your mum.
Thank you, Diane. You're content is always uplifting, valuable and heartfelt. This was no different. You have given me gifts of comfort and confidence to stay present in tough times. You are an inspiration. Sending my gratitude and love to you.❤
Beautiful! I love hearing this story..uplifted, comforted. You are a light, Diane! Thank you!
Diane, thank you so much for sharing your story with us. You have no idea how much it helps with what is lying ahead.
Thank you for sharing your moments with your Mum.
Thank you for sharing this very moving story. Much love to you. ❤💕✨
Thank you for sharing. My dad is 84 and has dementia. He has deteriorated so much in the last year and knowing the end is coming but not knowing what that will look like is scary. I want to support my mum (his main carer) so knowing what to expect and what things will help is something I appreciate. Loved your mums connection to your dad. xx
Sending love your way Diane ❤️
Thank you. Sending love and hugs, Diane
Huge hug Diane!!!❤❤❤❤
Dear Diane, I do not comment a lot but thank you so much for sharing this raw moment with all The emotions! This Tools lot of anxiety off of my shoulders ❤
Thank you so much for sharing. It's always been obvious how much you love her. Loved the part about the pink gin and tonic. 🩷 Sending you hugs
💕🌸 Thank you for sharing, Diane. Sending you love and hugs. 🩷💡
Thank you for sharing. I just skipped through the video because I quickly realized that I'm in the wrong mood for such a sentimental video but of course I'm crying. I appreciate how brave you are to share your story. Thank you!
What a sweet, thoughtful daughter you are. You made her last days on earth beautiful and oh, so pleasant. What a blessing you were to her.
A huge hug.
Many thanks, Doreen! 💖
Thank you.
Glad it was helpful, Roxanne 😊
@@DianeinDenmark It really was... especially the not eating... I'm seeing that more and more and didn't know it was normal.
So helpful ❤
What a beautiful video. My Mom passed away 11 years ago, sadly enough at the hospital and on my birthday. But my mother in law was able to be at her house at her passing. Thank you for your bravery to share so soon after her passing. I could totally relate. Love you.
Thank you so much for sharing, Diane. It was very similar to my Dad's last days.
🙏😊💖
Thanks, Yasmin!
Thank you Diane, a big hug
Thank you, Marta!
God bless 💕
Hospice nurses are true angels. Hugs to you Diane. Your mom is looking down on you and your brother and thinking "my children were so good to me".
Lots of love to you, and thanks for all you do x
thank you, Diane ❤️
Dear Diane, what a beautiful and touching video. It brought back memories of my sister and I being with my Mom in her final days
I coordinated a cal to my brother, who was not able to travel to speak to my Mom for one last time. She was so happy to hear his voice and passed away a few days later
Thank you so much for sharing about your Mom ❤
Wonderful video
Thank You for sharing ❤
It’s the hardest thing ever. Saw a mother and daughter in town yesterday. I was so envious and I just cried. 5 years ago my mum went to a new address
