We had a 21 Silver XSE that we recently lost to an accident. Saved my wife's life thank goodness. Now we're looking to replace with a 2022 xse. Safe vehicles. Wife doesn't want anything else now!
I think the SE is really only worth it if you don't add most of the option packages. Otherwise you might as well just get the XSE, unless you really don't like the two-tone. I went with the SE for my order with just the weather package so it comes in a few thousand under a XSE.
You are correct! SE only worth without any additional package. I got my se even don’t have weather package. I live southern CA don’t need it anyway. Just a basic SE, no power tail door no moonroof. I like it!
So refreshing to watch a car review that’s packed with info AND humor. That combo got me hitting subscribe. Spent months researching & then waiting for a great deal on a preowned Audi Q5 but seeing this has me leaning towards the 2022 XSE Rav4 in Calvary blue. Same price point as preowned Audi but with Warranty & new car smell 🌬 💙🚙💰
Hey Jeff, you actually made the video! That's awesome, loved the walk-through and comparisons you showcased. This will definitely help those you are on the fence about which trim to get. My XSE is coming mid April, looking forward to it 😀
Thanks for all the great videos. I just picked up a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid SE in Magnetic Gray. I felt much more confident going to the dealer after all the information you've provided.
Hi Katie! Yeah I stopped letting it bother me years ago lol. I film most videos about one mile from Raleigh-Durham airport so they are constantly taking off and landing. It’s more fun to embrace them :)
Nice there Jeff. I would go with the XSE if I had to choose between these two fine vehicles. EXCEPT!! We already ordered our Limited. With both the Tech and Weather Packages. My only grip about any RAV4 today would be the lack of a HUD. Toyota allows it on the Limited Prius so why not a Limited RAV4.... Other that that these are fine vehicles. Thank you for your Time & Effort producing these videos for us.
Thanks Jeff for your reviews. If I were in your state I would definitely purchase my Toyota vehicles thru you. I’ve decided to go with the XSE Hybrid fully loaded in Magnetic Gray Metallic. I also appreciate your enthusiasm! 😁
We have both, I personally prefer the softer ride of my XLE. My wife LOVES her SE. But basically the differences are the wheels and the SE has a bit stiffer ride. Oh, My XLE is made in Japan (so, build quality better?) hers in Kentucky. Can't go wrong either way
Hey Jeff. I love your reviews. Last June I bought a RAV4 Hybrid XSE. I love the vehicle. But what troubles me that after spending over 40k on this vehicle I had discovered that Toyota went cheap by installing power window switches that don't illuminate, and didn't even install a light in the glove box. Why would they do this? I might have to purchase illuminating switches after market.
Hi Jeff. Enjoy all your RAV4 videos. I own a 2021 XSE hybrid. I would be interesting into seeing a Toyota Safety Sense comparison video explaining what is 2.0, 2.5, 2.5+ and all the different models which have,.
I watched a video that recommended only three 2022 Toyota RAV4s.. The others are an overkill on their price and value overall. The three it recommended for best overall value and resale were The XLE, XLE Premium and Adventure.. At the end of the video I totally agreed with it.
@Charles Jackson . I prefer the se. The sxe there's basically nothing extra I care for. I think it's all in personal preference. Why do u think the other trims are better?

Another great video Jeff. I just preordered my 2022 Hybrid SE in Calvary Blue. The Faux leather and the two tone paint on the XSE just don’t do it for me personally. I will be missing those fog lights though dang it. Cheers
More like accent lights than functional fog lights. But anyways, I'm sure they share same bumper so you can buy the lights and install it yourself, possibly prewired too.
@@kyleanderson2654 I called my local Toyota dealership and established a co tact there. Then went on Toyotas website and built the car to my exact specs. Went to my local dealer a couple of days ago to take my 2020 XSE for maintenance and saw the 2022 SE. I’m assuming it had just been unloaded from the delivery truck because it did not have a window sticker yet, anyhow I gotta say I was immediately intrigued what the difference was but didn’t have time to stick around so here I am googling what the difference is and your video comes up. Very informative and much appreciated. I honestly loved my Rav4 it has all the works including the JBL, Roof rack, and Michelin tires all were factory installed (I did not request anything to be added I just walked into dealer and that’s the only option they had) Anyhow I dislike the 2 tone however I absolutely love the black rims and everything else in it. I wish the XSE came in Super White. I don't love the Blizzard Pearl. I did see one in Blizzard Pearl at a stoplight the other day, and it was a head-turner. Dark tinted windows in the back and those black wheels really pop. I can't justify the extra cost over the XLE though, and I probably would scratch those black wheels on a curb parallel parking anyway! :)

I got a brand new 2022 RAV4 Hybrid. I've got 1,500 miles on it commuting to and from work. Here in Maine, if I use eco, stay 5 mph under the speed limit, and drive like my grandmother, I am lucky to get 32 mpg from my hybrid in January, February, and March. I went to the dealer today and they said, "Oh yea, you'll get 10 mpg more in the summer... if you don't use your air conditioning." I like the car, but don't expect to get any where near the stated mpg. It's better than the 22 mpg I was getting from my old Subaru Legacy, but my son gets better mileage from his non-hybrid Subaru Impreza.
I love my 2022 Rav 4 hybrid. But watching all these shows makes me feel I was financially ripoff buy the dealership I when to. Easily had to pay extra $5500 over the price I’ve been seeing posted everywhere. I do like you comparing the two cars. But I think I paid for the XSE and got the SE. was it because I paid off the total cost out the door? You use to get a discount for that, now the charge you more. I do have a great car with comfortable ride. A bit noisy backing up, but the sports mode is really responsive. I found I through my son who I let drive me. Believe me it’s fast enough. Thank you for your presentation. I feel better about the RAV 4. My first RAV4 was a 1998. Loved it too.
The rear USB is inferior to a bare 12v port. You can always buy a near flush USB 12v adapter for way less than $100. You can also plug in inverters, or many other accessories or newer USB PD chargers
Thanks for this comparison. Informative and also funny 😆. I am trying to track down an XSE with tech package in the Calvary Blue. So far they are hard to find around here.
If I buy the RAV4 Hybrid XLE with the convenience Pkg., Weather Pkg., and Audio Plus can I hook up my IPhone to use WAZE on the 9 inch screen and use it like navigation??? Will this work too?
Yeah, I was interested ine one of these for the milage and I enjoy the looks but every dealer is selling the XSE model for around 55k which seems pretty crazy. I guess I'll just wait another year and see what happens to these prices.

Just recently purchased the 2022 Hybrid SE which came with all the same amenities of the XSE. Not sure if that was the choice of the dealer or not but paid 42k. And because of the shortage of vehicles being produced and what not...it was this one or just one other rav4 which was not hybrid and without the premium package. Of course I went with the Hybrid model. And actually got lucky because upon arriving at the dealer...9 other people (families) were looking to purchase the Hybrid! The ONLY thing that landed me the vehicle was the fact that just the day before, I was looking to purchase have the Supra. (Which was en route but was there in all it's glory the day I picked up the rav4) I didn't go with the Supra because of the astronomical price hike they wanted!! 78k...seriously?!?!?! Anywho....back to what I was saying. Because I just had my credit pulled the day before, the sales guy was able to just run the rav4 to the lender without running my credit again. 5 mins later (literally) I got my numbers and said YES. My SE is the exact same as the XSE minus the 2 tone. Which if I truly cared about the 2 tone...I could just have the upper panel and roof covered in vinyl and it would cost me $350!! Bottom line here...aside from the 2 tone and softex seating, they are the SAME VEHICLE 🤣🤣!! Save your money if possible, and if you want to add 2 tone...it's rather cheap!!!
I went with 23 XSE for the look and its tech pkg. But soon I sold those stupid accent lights(actually do look nice, but non functional was my problem) and installed aftermarket amber led fog lights. Night and day difference.

Any chance doing the same comparison with the 2023's? Or is there really not much difference between the '22 and '23s? Anyway this was very informative. Personally, I like the 2-tone XSE but don't care as much about the Softtec or running lights. I currently have a 2012 RAV4 Sport with over 220K miles! It's still running fine (albeit a bit noisy). I may be waiting until the Spring/Summer because I refuse to pay over MSRP.
Jeff, if I buy the RAV4 Hybrid SE with the convenience package, weather package, and audio plus can I hook up my phone to use WAZE on the 9 inch screen and have my navigation?? Will that work?
I didn't see the digital mirror in this review so I guess the 2022 XSE doesn't have it. My 2020 Rav4 XSE has the digital mirror with the tech package...... I love it & I leave it on digital mode all the time.
All their packages are standard on a subaru. Heated seats, upgraded sound, etc. Hard to believe a $30,000 car can not have the basics like a power lift gate in 2022. My wife really really wants a rav 4, but the value proposition is absolutely terrible.
I saw an unsold Rav4 Prime on the Northside Toyota dealership last July. I could have cried because I settled for the XSE hybrid because I didn't want to wait a year for the Prime. It had the same two tone colour as my XSE (white w/black top). :'(
And they charge $130 to install the USB 12v plug converter. Might as well just leave it the way it comes standard and buy a usb 12v charger for like $5 to plug it in when you want
Me personally wanted the xse but I ended up with the se and don’t get wrong it’s still an awesome car I absolutely love it but that wireless charger would be very handy
I thoroughly enjoyed this comparison. Thank you for this :D

I didn't see the digital mirror in this review so I guess the 2022 XSE doesn't have it. My 2020 Rav4 XSE has the digital mirror with the tech package...... I love it & I leave it on digital mode all the time.
Bunch Of BS All those packeges. All packages should be already part of the trim.
All their packages are standard on a subaru. Heated seats, upgraded sound, etc. Hard to believe a $30,000 car can not have the basics like a power lift gate in 2022. My wife really really wants a rav 4, but the value proposition is absolutely terrible.
@@domenik8339 It's true you pay more for a Toyota but in the end with the resale value and reliability you come out on top.
You pulled me in with that short video 😂
XSE! black roof, better interior
Still waiting for my RAV4 PRIME in Canada...
I saw an unsold Rav4 Prime on the Northside Toyota dealership last July. I could have cried because I settled for the XSE hybrid because I didn't want to wait a year for the Prime. It had the same two tone colour as my XSE (white w/black top). :'(
Jeff can you get me an xse in blueprint 22 awd
OMG, that's what I wanted!!!! Sadly 22 XSE doesn't come in Blueprint 😥
Limited, really wanna see that passenger power seat work
Jeff, I have never seen USB ports in the cargo compartment. What up with that? Do dogs have mobile phones now? 🤔
They don’t talk much but yes they use it. They keep their phones mainly on paws
@@Toyotajeff 🙈
Plug in your cooler.
And they charge $130 to install the USB 12v plug converter. Might as well just leave it the way it comes standard and buy a usb 12v charger for like $5 to plug it in when you want
@@Toyotajeff any spare tire?
thanks jeff
Is it just me or do the wheels look extra small on this vehicle?
Me personally wanted the xse but I ended up with the se and don’t get wrong it’s still an awesome car I absolutely love it but that wireless charger would be very handy
We bought the SE …
Why some rav4s sold in USA are made in Japan
Waiting for the same answer. Some are made in Japan ( which I prefer), some in Kentucky and some in Ontario Canada🤷♀️
Ordered an Hybrid SE and it's made in Japan. Not sure why the one in the video is made in North America.
I love SE
just ordered the RAV 4 SE in Canada, it comes standard with the power gate and moonroof. But of course its more $$$. 12 month delivery time!!! 😆 🤣 😂
Hello from Germany 🇩🇪
Didnt kno the SE had nice wheels like that tho 🤔
Hello Jeff
Hi Jeff, love your videos! Do you know if the 2022 Rav4 limited comes with the adaptive headlights as standard?
This guy has a level of cringe that quickly turns into comforting charm. Lol
Is rather have the 12v in the rear so it can charge my portable inverter !
Those rear usbs are really dumb, I’d just get a 3 dollar cig lighter to usb and save the ridiculous Toyota charge
I really want to buy a car from you 😂
Gasoline cars are gone,friends
Hybrid is the best of both worlds. No range anxiety with the gas engine and you get great MPGs thanks to the electric help.
Never buy a CVT.
Seriously, do a simply research on "eCVT" before commenting. It's nothing like a regular CVT you are referring.
I prèfer the SEX for my tastes. Whatever happened to the limited?
I want ever drugs youre on please
The wheels on the 2021 look better than these ones. 😏
